Open The Kirin's Treasure

Valkrie looked at the sky, noting the wind was nearly still. She grinned, and reached for Valour's Pokeball. Her Salamence appeared on deck, and knowing what to do, jumped into the air. Valour moved beside the railing, and Valkrie jumped on her back.
"I'll be back," she yelled to Edward, and held on tight to Valour. Damn, she loved flying.

Ming looks down at the small girl, chuckle softly under her breath. She reaches up and pet's Budi's head, glancing to the sea.

"No one, Mysti...just myself"

"Captian, you mind taking the wheel, or are you going to be lazy the entire trip"

Ming looks at the direction of the call, placing her hands on her hips as she frowns at her First Mate Greed. She sighs and makes her way to the wheel.

"Are you saying you're tired already? We've just started out, Greed"

He grins, the wind toying with his short black hair. He places a hand on her shoulder, patting it lightly.

"Nah, just wondering what you were doing instead of steering this rig. But I am hungry"

Ming rolls her eyes and takes the wheel, letting the man go to do as he pleased. It was for the best, since she knew which way the boat needed to go. She steers the boat on the coarse, the wind blowing her braids back.

This is the life...

Miaka stretched, her back tight after watching the horizon from the crows nest for several hours. Nyara, her best friend, was up there with her. "Slow day on the sea, eh? Nothin' but a couple o' Wingull and a Mantine spotted so far," she remarked. Nyara purred. Despite being a feline Pokémon, Nyara wasn't afraid of the ocean. Perhaps it was where she grew up with Miaka, that small port town which now seemed so far away.

Miaka looked down, to see Captain Edward with his gaze out to nowhere. "Ey, Captain!" She hollered. "What'cha doin' down there?"

(( Remember what happens with one-liners, Mewtwo? Strike one. ))

The pesky rattata that had been sneaking around her room was finally cornered, and it squeaked at her for mercy. But Lynne wouldn't give it, not to this pest. She declared it guilty and its sentence was execution, and Migrained would be its executioner...

...if only he would just attack, dammit. Any attack would do, probably getting rid of the rattata in one shot.

"I said Psychic and I meant Psychic! Kill it already!"

Migraine just stared at her stupidly. Lynne scowled. Psychic was the only move that would be able to down the rattata without making a mess, so she could throw it overboard or something. Kraken, of course, was useless in the ship and Lifesaver would spill blood, which she'd then have to clean up. But Migraine only listened to her half the time, and she could never tell when he wasn't going to listen to her, when he'd listen right away, or when he'd listen once she'd said it enough times.

It was a shame that she, unlike Valkrie, hadn't left the ship long enough for the Dragon God's magic to wear off on her pokemon. That was the only way for the pokemon to evolve, even if they were strong enough to evolve under normal circumstances. But no, Migraine had to be stuck as a psyduck rather than the much more useful (and intelligent!) golduck.

"Psy. Kick," she hissed.

Finally, she saw recognition dawn in Migraine's eyes, or at least she thought she did, because he turned around and pointed at the rattata. The rattata shrieked as it was enveloped in a blue light (much fainter than she'd expected; maybe it was Confusion instead). The light faded quickly, and the rattata collapsed.

Lynne walked over to it and recalled Migraine while picking the rattata up by the tail, giving it a disgusted look. It was all dirty, as expected, and probably flea-infested. Her expression hardly changed as she returned to the deck, until she saw Edward and some other crew members. Changing her expression and stance to casual, she wandered over to Edward and flung the rattata off the boat.

"Are you going to steer, or are you trusting the wind to lead us to the Kirin?" she asked him, glancing over at the wheel; as expected, nobody was steering. Well, sometimes she did instead of Edward, but she'd been pretty sure that she wasn't steering right now. And she was right.

((...Uh, wow.))
Valkrie looked down at Lynne, who was throwing a dead or unconscious Ratatta overboard. Most likely it was the one that was lurking around her room, from what she heard. Valkrie nudged Valour, who rose higher into the sky. If they were lucky, they'd get a while for flying.

(( The whole point of it is for you to look for it yourself, though. ))

Lynne glanced up as she waited for an answer, catching sight of Valkrie. Her lips stretched into something similar to a closed-lip smile, but not quite; the difference would be imperceptible at this distance. She gave Valkrie a small wave and released Kraken's Whip into the water.

The tentacruel immediately swam away from the boat until he was a safer distance away, and looked at her questioningly. She rarely sent out any of her pokemon, especially Kraken's Whip, without a purpose.

"Train," she ordered. Unlike Migraine, Kraken was reliable and could think for himself, battling pokemon without any specific orders. And unlike Lifesaver, he stayed on task when she left him alone. Just releasing him and letting him train himself was the fastest way to make him stronger; that was why he was the strongest of her pokemon. It was, generally, a struggle to have her other pokemon keep up, especially Migraine.

As expected, Kraken turned and swam away, making sure to keep within sight the way she'd told him to, so long ago. It didn't seem that he caught anything yet, though, as he was still drifting, rather relaxed. She also knew that, on the off-chance he found something rare, he'd bring it to her, so she needn't worry about that.

Shame her other pokemon weren't like that.

((Forgot to say this before, but in the actual Pokemon games and anime, there's ten year olds with level seventies *coughAshcough*. So my Pokemon are somewhat reasonable.))
Valkrie looked down at Lynne, who waved, and released Kraken. It probably would be a while until they reached the Kirin, so Valkrie leaned back on Valour. Valour snorted a puff of smoke, and raced forwards. Valkrie yelled and grabbed onto her neck. She never could let her guard up with Valour, but it always made for a fun few minutes.

Miaka looked at the goings-on below her, down on the deck. "Looks like Lynne finally got that Rattata," she mumbled. "'bout time, too. It's been buggin' her fer ages now." Shaking her head in astonishment at how long it had taken Lynne to finally off the Rattata, she hollered down to the deck. "EY! Who's next on watch? I can't stand up 'ere much longer!"

Nyara let a slow growl escape, signaling to Miaka that she wanted food, and quick. "Well, yer just gonna haveta wait, now aren't you? You know we're not allowed to climb down until the next watch is ready to come up." The Meowth, now tiring of being up in the crows nest, decided to curl up on Miaka's feet in protest.

"Yer a twerp, ya know that?" Miaka said gentley, rubbing Nyara's ear.

(( Ash doesn't count because he never ages. And in the games you can get a pokemon to lv 100 in a week (probably less) without any rare candies, if you're dedicated to it, so if that were to translate to "real life", powerful pokemon would hardly be a real achievement. Because Edward's pokemon are lv 65, we'll say that 65 is a reasonable level for someone who's lived decades in a fairly dangerous lifestyle. Your levels are reasonable for a seventeen year old only if you've been on the ship and had the magic affect you, freezing your age but not your pokemon's levels. ))

Kraken spotted another tentacruel and considered whether he really wanted to off a member of his own species, and noticing that there weren't any interesting pokemon around his current area, decided yes. He swam over to the other tentacruel, uttering a low cry in the water to get the tentacruel's attention. It looked at him and swam toward him, though much slower than he was swimming toward it.

Too late it realised that there was a predatory glint in Kraken's eyes, the long, extended tentacles, and Kraken's obvious strength and speed.

His tentacles lashed out and grabbed the other tentacruel, crushing it and beating at it mercilessly. The other tentacruel lashed out with its tentacles in turn, but he hardly felt it, or the pathetically weak stream of water that bounced off his head. Instead, he gave the tentacruel an utterly bored stare and punished it by plunging his suddenly-sharp tentacles into the bluish membrane of his opponent, poison dripping off of them. The poison hardly affected the tentacruel at all, but the stabs were another matter. With a desperate screech that had Kraken cringing in pain, it tried to create a barrier between them.

So the tentacruel was stronger than he'd thought. Honestly, Kraken could hardly tell the difference any more - though Lynne was convinced that this would make him stronger, Kraken was of the opinion that he was probably weakening by going after such weak opponents.

Especially when the tentacruel took over five seconds to create the barrier, which was enough time for Kraken to stab it again, shattering its concentration. Kraken continued stabbing it with five of his eighty tentacles, not noticing for a while that the other tentacruel had fainted.

Also, died.

Lynne might have been more concerned, had she been watching.

(( Why yes, these pointless posts are to excuse otherwise more pointless OOC messages. ))

Ming yawns, steering the boat on the coarse before her. She looks at the horizon, trying to look for anything worth noting. She spots a rock in the shape of a tree to her far right and nods.

"Sedna, mind drawing that rock on the map for future reference. And be sure to show the Milotic at the prow...the orb needs to know where we've been, so we can return to it later"

A yawn is heard to her left, coming from the fair-sized blue duck leaning against the railing. Sedna takes out a map from Ming's bag and draws the rock where it would lie on the map.

Ming nods, looking back at the sea. She then looks up at the Crows nest and yells up.

"Halan! Do you see anything, or sense any danger?"

A black paw with a spike waves down to Ming, followed by a low growl of a grumpy and annoyed Lucario. Ming shakes her head, taking this as a sign that all was clear on the sea as far as the Lucario was concerned.

Edward continued to stare at the sky, quite oblivious to the goings-on of the ship. He seemed to be thinking, his gold eyes mulling some thought or other over in his sharp mind. This was common for the captain, he was prone to stare into space for hours, thinking over how something worked, or how to preform some new task. It was usually quite a mystery what was going on in the man's head, and only those who'd known him for a long time would be able to figure it out.

Eventually, he snapped out of it (at least somewhat) and wandered towards the wheel, deftly taking control of the vessel. He kept it on track, his tanned hands used to the activity, and it required little thought beyond keeping an eye on their location. It was getting dark, the sky was beginning to red, streaks of the fiery colours of sunset colouring the sky. Edward sighed happily. This was, indeed, the life. Open sea, open air... This was what he'd wanted since he was a child.

Penny fluttered off her perch and landed lightly on his shoulder, squawking out a few words she'd learned a long time ago.

"Yo-ho! Yo-ho!"

Kenda smiled half listening to part of the captain’s conversation with the rest of the crew, half avoiding cutting herself with one of her blades. Her back leaned against Demon’s warm body. Out of all of her three pokemon he was to calmest. Despite being part weak against the water, Demon had been taught how to swim. Though that process was hard Kenda thought it was well worth it. The day seemed to be calm with not much activity happening around the ship and Kenda was making one of her hand-made arrows.

“What special effect should this one have?” Kenda ask the Houndoom, whom now has fallen to sleep. She sighed as she reached into her bag taking out a small jar half filled with a purple liquid. The toxic wasn’t easy to get, especially when trying to extract the poison from a living pokemon. She knew that it would be easier when it was dead but dislikes the thought of killing it for such an unworthy purpose. Carefully, Kenda dipped her pointed stick into the jar leaving it in for a good minute. She took it out taking care not to get any of the toxic on anything else and allowed it to dry.

Pokemon + Pirates = Pwnage

Name: Mara

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Ship: Lady Equivalence

Weapon(s): She uses twin short-swords. The swords' blades are made of a hard black metal, and the hilts are a deep ruby red. She named the one in her right hand "Enkou (Flame)" and the one in her left hand "Kumori (Shadow)".

Appearance: She is red-headed with a few freckles, her eyes are an intense green. She wears a plain, button-up, white shirt. She wears faded blue breeches with boots covering up to the middle of her shin (think army-like boots). She ties around her head a black bandanna to keep her bangs out of her face.

Bio: Born into a family of pirates who used twin lades she inherited their great love of the sea, ships, and over all, battle. And she loved to walk a long the shores dreaming about becoming like her ancestors, to be the greatest swordsman that ever lived.

Her dad, seeing how she longed to have the life of a pirate, taught her how to wield a sword (much to her mother's distaste); and it was only after years of training from her father that she became skilled enough to continue the family line of pirates. It was when she defeated her father in one of their sparring lessons that he presented her with the legendary twin swords, Enkou and Kumori, weilded by her great ancestor Rico "The Balrog". They were as sharp as when her ancestor first got them. He also presented her with her first pokemon: Clash, her scyther, who was the son of her father's scyther.

Before she left to catch a ship she caught two other pokemon, a vulpix (Flicker) and a shinx (Ignite) and trained them for two years. She, after a while of training, evolved her pokemon, Shinx into Luxray and Vulpix into Ninetales (She had evolved Flicker using a firestone she managed to bribe off someone). Finally, she decided she was ready to become a pirate.

She was a stowaway on the Lady Equivalence, and when she was discovered, her skill with the twin blades were enough for them to keep her on the ship. She has been travelling with them for one year.

Personality: She is rather confident and cocky, and has a side that enjoys dark and bloody things. She has a love for battle and her confidence while fighting is her strength...and weakness. She is rather tomboyish, and she is kinda clueless. She loves her pokemon even if they have ben with her for less than a year and the likes to spar with her scyther. She is also good at bribing and haggleing.

Other: Nothing much~

Her Pokemon:

scyther
[Clash] Scyther (M) Lv: 41
Ability: Technician

Ninetales
[Flicker] Ninetales (M) Lv: 39
Ability: Flash Fire
