The Metronome Contest

(As an aside, what qualifies one as having 'won' a five-round section of this battle? I'm assuming scores, but..?)
Having a higher sum of health and score. Energy would factor in as well, but, both battlers will inevitably finish with 100%, so.

Note also that, at any time, actaully knocking out the opponent before five rounds are up will cause an immediate win for that section.

Arena: Metronome Contest Hall
After all sorts of zany locations, it all goes back to the egg -- to the place where the first batch of appeals took place. It's pretty standard; the seats are reminiscent of a cinema, but instead of a big screen, there's an ample, woodboarded stage. Elements needed for moves that rely on environment, such as Surf, will just plain materialize as needed. As with any Metronome Battle, grand destruction is freely permitted and encouraged; screw the audience's safety, they've already paid for the last ticket anyway.
Arena status: Unchanged, which is shameful.

-----

The crowd took the seats of the Metronome Contest Hall for the last time. At least, for the last time this time around, as the odds of a sequel were high. Metallica Fanboy took the main judge's seat as usual and adressed the spectators.

"Ladies! Gentlemen! Non-cisgenders! Non-humans! Aaaaaand people who were hoping I'd make a ladies and gentlemen joke! Welcome to the final round of the Metronome Contest! To reach this point, we've had several disappointments -- people we were hoping would win, people who were unfortunately disqualified after making great appeals, so on forth. But we all knew, from the start, that only two would make it as far as this, and now, only one of them will win. So, without further ado... Coloursfall and Blastoise Fortooate!"

The two trainers took the stage on opposite sides, both confident in this battle -- the latter even bordering on overconfident.

"Coloursfall has reached the final match through remarkable, impressive appeals that may not have always captivated all the judges, but did well enough to guarantee fine marks. Blastoise Fortooate, on the other hand, made it this far with creative use of whatever moves were rolled, mostly with an acute sense of humour. At this point, however, the individual appeal value means less, because it won't be just set up and perform -- it will be a lot of mess with the opponent, too. Anyhow, let us see what they have lined up for this match and what they intend to use."

Cheers showered as the active squads of the two battlers were displayed on a large screen. The Pokémon available ranged from teeny-tiny Pichu to moderately large Togekiss. Some of the listed -- namely, the Taillow and the Gastly -- were recognized from earlier rounds and massively expected; nonetheless, neither would take the stage for the time being.

Instead, Coloursfall released a green, bipedal creature with a red zigzag pattern across its torso. In response, and much to the opponent's frustration, Blastoise Fortooate let out an eerily floating empty shell of a Pokémon -- literally. A few who recognized the species and knew the rumours attached to it readily looked away from the stage, paranoid that it'd ever turn its back towards them.

With commands dealt, a glow on the Kecleon's fingers and on the Shedinja's halo, a jingle played as the beggining of the end kicked in -- the first round of the final battle.

Husk quickly made for the lead, catching its foe completely off guard as a light blue aura shone around its halo and said foe. The halo twirled, and as though by direct cause, Yzma was tossed right off the stage and into the audience seats. This move quickly swung the momentum towards Husk, as it humiliated the opponent completely.

Rising up among the seats, the Kecleon, now tinted pink, didn't seem intent on countering right away. Instead, she just sat between the spectators and began to form a malevolent plan in her mind.

That was interrupted by a burning jolt of energy that, upon landing, caused the chameleon Pokémon to become alert suddenly, taking upon a purple skin color as she scanned the area for any further threats. Spotting nothing, she went back to plotting, this time letting a sly grin surface as she did. The crowd couldn't help but find the Night Shade attack rather sudden, as though there could be some sort of build-up.

But they forgot anything about that when the shed shell creature fluttered over them and its halo suddenly began to sprinkle coins all over the seats. The contest was in complete uproar as the customers scrambled to grab the money. Half a minute after the last dime was dropped, attentions were turned to Husk, and Yzma sat completely ignored among them, eager for revenge as her enemy commanded total attention.

Additional notes:
- Psychic requires concentration, even moreso if it's used for plopping a target into a specific location. Thus, following up with Night Shade quick enough for it to still count as a combo would be impossible, specially against a foe equal in speed.
- Since Shedinja are consistently said to be immobile but are also consistently seen performing basic hovering movement, I ref it as being able to do only that, but as having its halo capable of doing more complex movement and, as such, performing the majority of the moves. If there are any objections to this, let me know.
- I think I watched The Emperor's New Groove at some point, but I was like six or seven then, so, I don't remember a bit of it.
- On an unrelated note, it might not be a bad idea to check on what certain moves will do in contests, as it might earn you a massive updraft of score.
- Blastoise Fortooate attacks first next round.

Use Thunder Fang next, letting the ekeltricity sparkle all around your magic metronome teeth, followed by Judgement. Dark Pulse will hurt but you can do it, Husk.

This here should be... FUN. Okay Yzma, start out by trying to go first and lob a big, nasty Dark Pulse at it, and follow up with Searing Shot - the fire should be hot enough to dry up any water anyway, being a Legendary Move. Don't combo them, but do try and make them fit together nicely, and maybe do some dance-like moves while using them?

Finish with Roar to distract him from that last attack - after that nasty painful attacking, it should be plenty scared of you. And as always, keep quick on your feet - you both may have the same base speed, but you're a freaking lizard and its a dead bug. Go get 'im.

As with any Metronome Battle, grand destruction is freely permitted and encouraged; screw the audience's safety, they've already paid for the last ticket anyway.
Arena status: The spectators are in a messy hustle for money.

-----

Both battlers seemed happy with what they say was fingers and halo glew in Metronome light. What was next? Some of the spectators believed that it didn't get any better than receiving money, of course; they would most likely be less impressible now... Which is why it was a perfect round for an insane tempo.

Taking aim from within the seat rows, Yzma focused all her thoughts of nastiness and revenge into a single bout. She took a wide stance, then slashed at the air as she unleashed a massive, crackling pulse pitch-black darkness towards her opponent. So impressively powerful was the blast, just coming razingly close to some spectators was enough for flinching disgust; when it struck its target dead-on, it left scorches everywhere, to the point that it was the undamaged patches of shed carapace that stood out.

The severe blow detracted much from Husk's confidence. Dominance seemed to have switched sides at the blink of an eye, and it knew that it needed to recover that. And as such, it put a lot of effort into its next attack, turning the hole in its back to the audience and deploying its halo over it, as though to -- literally or otherwise -- steal their souls. From there, it squeezed every drop of energy it could from its hollow body, unleashing a massive squirt of water all over the hall -- on the crowd, on the walls, on the ground, on the judge (shit, that was my best suit!), on the trainers and, of course, on its enemy, with that last one being where the brunt of the water descend, for maximum pressure.

The attention quickly shifted to that move, of course, as it's hard not to pay attention to the fact you just got totally squirted. However, the Kecleon was perfectly undaunted by this, as she expected that her next move would change that right back. She was still in the same stance as she was when she let the Dark Pulse rip -- slightly crouched, with both arms crossed down -- with the only change being her now demurely blue scale tone, but still, she was exactly the way she planned.

She leapt upwards, tucking legs into crossed arms and spinning. Then, while midair, she first started to emit a dark red glow. Then, when she sprung back into a wider stance, still before hitting the ground, she unleashed an inferno of scarlet flames, setting the entire hall on fire. The previous bout of water by and at large attenuated the damage to the structure and to the viewers, but didn't altogether prevent it; the blaze was everywhere quite soon, and the evaporated water caused a steamy fog to spread.

The firemen struggled to fight the fire back, with very little success. Also struggling was the one that was meant to be struck by the fierce attack, and indeed was -- the Shedinja was now completely blackened, and also irradiated a pale red aura. The crowd being on fire definitely attenuated the extent of what it could get out of them; nonetheless, it was aware that they now were all against its foe, and that meant it could still swing back just by staying on the fight. So, it let the electric sparks bouncing off its halo gather some attention from the immediately close spectators, then let a series of energy spikes sink into its foe's arm, causing her to slowly become bright yellow as she screamed in agony with the electricity's reaction to the chemicals that were being replaced.

To that note, the chameleon Pokémon took advantage of the degree of attention attracted by her whimper, and then produced a similar, but vastly different howl -- this one being petrifyingly menacing. Blastoise Fortooate's sendout could not at all concentrate upon summoning a goddamn high deity under these circumstances, what with the terrible throbbing and the everything on fire and the scary roaring.

The second round ended with extreme, mixed feelings among the audience: a spot of hope, matched against great pain and terrible fear. It was practically good vs. evil to them at that point.

-----

During the command time, the firemen managed to put out the fire on stage. Not that it was much, as the trainers and judge very well had their own reliable means of doing just that at hand. The scarlet flames still danced around the audience seats -- where the fight was actually going on -- when the round began.

Husk moved right fast, taking advantage of its elemental alignment with the move it was about to use. Its halo spun as it spawned a silky thread, then circled around Yzma's head, tying up her mouth.

The sudden, imposing move had her at a tight spot. Being gagged just like that was very humiliating, specially in front of a whole crowd that actually enjoys the idea. For a good while, the Kecleon was far too overwhelmed to even try making a move.

Once she got around to attacking, she found that she couldn't quite because, again, her lips were sealed. With as much of a grumble as she could manage, she began making an active effort to undo the webbing. Conveniently, her foe's next attack flew far off the mark (and yet, somehow, the crowd still ate it right up), giving her plenty of time to at least gain enough room to rather discomfortably talk.

And if she was to be established as the BLUH BLUH HUGE VILLAIN, then she might as well get around to what villains do: monologue. And so began a dark, twisted (mostly twisted -- painfully so, in fact) speech on how these spectators are all shallow, imperfect beings that should be destroyed in painful flames.

And then there was that awesome moment where the hero punches the villain mid-speech. Well, more like hit on the belly with a sparkly halo, but it was to a much similar effect.

The ranting did much for Yzma's already solidified standing as the formidable villain, and yet, Husk was slowly managing to regain momentum. The battle became tighter each moment closer to the end of the first draw.

-----

The firefighters fought the fire (duh) as the Pokémon prepared for the next spectacular round. It was to little effect; the legendary flames wouldn't be put out without at least six men attending to each burning patch at once.

Yzma, as any good typical villain after a proper monologue, got back to the death threats. After all that talking, however, and what with the spider web still on her face, she settled for showing, not talking. She began to slash a hand support on one of the seats, both giving off a little intimidation and doing something practical (namely, sharpening her claws).

Again, Husk wasn't quite willing to let the stereotype roll smoothly. It fluttered gently towards its opponent and did a spinning motion while rocketing upwards, smacking her on the face twice. All the way through, its halo shone an indigo tone, which the Kecleon's skin took up right then.

At that point, the two battlers arranged a proper standoff, staring at each other (although Shedinja are eyeless) as the crowd -- burning or no -- paid full attention to them. Husk suddenly vanished into a dark purple portal; Yzma followed up shortly threreafter. There was a moment of silence, and then, as suddenly as before, there was a flash of darkness that even the flames could not light up, and a sound of forceful impact.

When the spectators could see again, the two battlers were back, each one positioned as though they'd just ran across each other. The Kecleon was crouched and had a paw raised, seeming to have just slashed something; the Shedinja seemed that it would strike an awesome pose at that point if it could.

Most notably, however, said Shedinja was even more blackened than before, whereas ghostly fires burned on the Kecleon's now dark purple face, where there was once spider web.

Even if you set the audience on fire a second time, you would not draw their attention.

-----

Only that late did the firefighting effort manage to save a significant part of the hall. It was likely that the flames would be all out by the next draw, as that was to be the fifth and last round of the current Pokémon's confrontation.

Yzma swiftly seized her opponent by the "wings", taking to flight as she leapt upwards. After hanging up there for a while, terrorizing her foe, she hurled it towards the ground, making to land at much slower a rate. The falling Shedinja thumped loudly right in the middle of the circle of highly interested spectators, who cheered on it to get up as the Kecleon arrived, ghostly flame moustache all but gone by that point.

Very slowly, the battered Husk took back to floating, earning a thunderous cheer from the crowd. Its sparkle emitted a bright white glow, which traveled to the enemy, surrounded her and took upon a dark purple tone, akin to that which her skin at that point had. The sparkle then traveled back to the halo, and suddenly, the moult Pokémon became intangible.

The chameleon Pokémon leapt for it again, but found that her claws would just go right through the target. As she tried to grab what she could no longer, she forgot to put her defenses up, which left her wide open for a forceful jab to the gut, from a suddenly steel sturdy halo.

As its foe laid on the ground, heavily damaged, Blastoise Fortooate's sendout motioned to the crowd as though that was about to be the moment, the big finisher. It rocketed straight upwards... And completely missed its target, coming to a stop only after a painful jab at the roof.

Oh well, shit happens, right? The crowd was still on Husk's side.

With three gavel bangs (hey, I am a judge, right?), Metallica Fanboy called off the fifth round. He announced that the winner was to be determined with a basis not only on the battlers' health conditions, but also, on how much crowd attention they'd gathered. While the former gave Yzma an ample advantage, the latter weighed harder towards Husk's side.

And as such, with a health and score total of 266 over an opposing 263, the winner was... Husk, the Shedinja and Blastoise Fortooate!

Of course, there was still a second draw to shake things up.

Energy: 100%
Status: Confused (Severe). Ghost-typed.
Contest Stats: 260pt / 20% Nervous / 0*
Condition: Receiving ovation.
Performed: Reflect Type ~ Iron Tail (critical) ~ fully confused

Arena status: A portion of the hall is on fire, several spectators are still burning (although some have been rescued), the firefighters are starting to get somewhere and the goddamn steam is fogging it all up. The crowd is still electrified, however, and they're eager to see the next battery of competitors.

Additional notes:
- The last two Sky Drops failed to cause damage because of Wonder Guard and Reflect Type.
- Iron Tail on the second action scored a critical hit.
- On the last action, Husk hit itself in confusion.
- Next round, Coloursfall sends out first, then Blastoise Fortooate sends out and issues commands, then Coloursfall issues commands.

The new moves for this round stand as such:

Coloursfall
Volt Tackle / Conversion / Ally Switch / Draco Meteor / Shadow Punch

Blastoise Fortooate
Horn Drill / Aqua Tail / Tickle / Knock Off / Flame Charge

Does Conversion work on GLaDOS's whole movepool or just the movepool she has in this battle?
Conversion would work with a basis on the user's normal movepool, with no regards for the fact that they can't access their normal moves without getting them rolled.

Good job, Husk! You get people food tonight! do you even eat

Go on, Enojada, you can do it.

Tickle, followed by Aqua Tail and Flame Charge. Use Horn Drill on any meteors that come your way.

Tickle/Horn Drill ~ Aqua Tail/Horn Drill ~ Flame Charge/Horn Drill

Arena: Metronome Contest Hall
After all sorts of zany locations, it all goes back to the egg -- to the place where the first batch of appeals took place. It's pretty standard; the seats are reminiscent of a cinema, but instead of a big screen, there's an ample, woodboarded stage. Elements needed for moves that rely on environment, such as Surf, will just plain materialize as needed. As with any Metronome Battle, grand destruction is freely permitted and encouraged; screw the audience's safety, they've already paid for the last ticket anyway.
Arena status: A portion of the hall is on fire, several spectators are still burning (although some have been rescued), the firefighters are starting to get somewhere and the goddamn steam is fogging it all up. The crowd is still electrified, however, and they're eager to see the next battery of competitors.

-----

The flames only hung at the corners and a few isolated spots. The firefighting effort had come a long way. The air was clearer, and it was a perfect opportunity for the new sendouts to be revealed. Husk and Yzma had been recalled, and the crowd, burnt as they might be but having already received first aid, couldn't wait for the next draw.

Coloursfall released an unusual Porygon2. It was black in color, with grey covering up the usually blue parts as well as a couple of unrelated spots, and yellow lines running around the eyes and through the torso, becoming one around the tail. Notably, its Silph Co. trademark was nonwhere to be seen.

Blastoise Fortooate responded with a tiny, seemingly harmless elephant baby, of light blue, tough skin. Something seemed slightly off about the red-brown spots on her nose and ears, as though they were the slightest bit different in tone.

Immediately upon spotting its opponent, GLaDOS proceeded to further offend those who were suspicious of its lacking a trademark by doing the illegalest move ever: downloading stuff. Cries of "you're supposed to pay for kickelephantass.pdf, you bastard!" briefly rose before being snuffed out by those who were interested in the match.

And with this, the second draw began.

The code Pokémon opened up by booting up raindance.pmv, but not for actually using the move; the .pmv program that was to stay in use was rng.pmv (also known as Metronome), of course. That was just for a rush of Water-type energy, which was converted and used to update the texture settings. The final result was that the computerized body became watery, although it still held together without significant changes in form.

After the cyberbabbletastic magic took place, however, Enojada rushed in quickly and stuck her trunk into her opponent (permitted by the change in texture), wiggling it in there. "SURFACE RECEPTORS OVERLOADED" could be heard constantly as Coloursfall's Pokémon squirmed frantically. The ridiculous scene amused the crowd greatly, and even the most savage Guillotine wouldn't fully suceed at making it look any threatening for a while.

Which is why the crowd wasn't paying as much attention as they would be to such a scene when the Porygon2 played ominouschant.wav, glaring fiercely as it emmited a powerful surge of Dragon-type energy skywards. First, there was intense rumbling. Then, a bizarre, loud noise. Lastly, holes were smashed into the roof as massive stones engulfed in green-blue flame crashed earthwards.

The first and largest of them, however, was broken in tiny pieces by its target, whose trunk spun fiercely, drilling right through and rendering the threat null and void. Other meteors struck several unrelated spots, and a smaller one managed to hit the Phanpy. The firefighters were at that point forced to ignore the scarlet, legendary fire already burning, as they scattered to contain the draconic blaze spreading quickly, as well as attend to the spectators who were hit by the Draco Meteor -- although most would probably not make it.

Seeing a Pokémon as tiny and apparently harmless as that just tear right through the meteor worked even more to underwhelm the impressive attack. By that point, the elephant baby had full crowd attention.

GLaDOS wasn't very happy about having such a difficult to perform move fall completely flat. Without warning, she loaded deadmanshand.png, utilizing Ghost-type energy to generate and strike with a "ghost fist" of the shape determined by the image archive. The move connected smoothly, causing minimal damage. Alas, it was also done much too fast, helping in absolutely the generalized apathy.

At that point, Enojada backed away a few steps, noticing that a meteor burned green-blue right behind her. With a smirk of cleverness, she curled up and charged against the draconic blaze, effectively becoming a sentinent fireball. Normally, this would have spelled out "oh crap"; however, the Porygon2's watery compostion easily provided shield against the searing attack.

Nonetheless, the display further earned attention from the spectators, by the same token infuriating the attack's target ever deeper.

The crowd is still electrified, however, and they're eager to see the next battery of competitors.

Additional notes:
- Although I'm bothering to list them, items and signature stuff are not in effect for this battle. Though I'm not sure whether Dubious Disk as an evolution item still gets to count.
- I actually got an overwhelmingly positive accuracy roll from Horn Drill, so I had it significantly reduce -- but not altogether negate -- the damage from Draco Meteor.
- Coloursfall attacks first next round.
