• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

  • Yup, there's a book, but it's pretty heavy-going; it's very adult-oriented (with way more sex, death, politics and religion than the musical, which you can take little kids to), but also very, very good.

No, Rocky Horror is more of a comedy than anything, and it parodies the horror and sci-fi movies that were around at the time. It's very strange in times, but I think it's brilliant :)

Well, I kinda assumed you'd seen the animated musicals; I agree they're the best, but if you want to see some other ones and somewhat enjoyed HSM, I thought I'd at least suggest them.
Yeah, it kinda sucks that Wicked and Avenue Q don't have movie versions. That said, I'm not entirely sure how a Ave Q movie would work (probably like an episode of Sesame Street, only with even more singing and a lot more references to porn), and a Wicked movie would have to be given an absolutely massive budget to be good. Personally, I think Wicked should have two movies; one of the musical, and one of the book (which is completely different to the musical).

Well, the Rocky Horror isn't realy a horror film... uh, I think the synopsis on Wikipedia can do a better job of explaining it than I can. It's definitely a classic, though :)

There are a couple of other Disney Channel Original Movies that are in the same vein as HSM if you want to give them a watch; Camp Rock and Newsies are the only two I can think of offhand and I haven't seen either, but... they exist.
Ooh! It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I adore the musical Rent more than words can say. It's a bit on the depressing side, and is a bit more mature than lots of other musicals (has lots more sex, swearing, drug use and gay - well, considering Ryan, not that much more gay - than HSM), but I think it's amazing.
I also adore Wicked and Avenue Q, but they haven't had movie versions done yet, so I think you can only see them in the West End, on Broadway and when and if they tour.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show's another fantastic musical that's much better on stage, but the film version's good. The movie version of Phantom of the Opera is supposed to pale in comparison to the play, but I haven't seen the play and think the movie's quite good. Chicago's pretty fun (if creepy in parts), and Moulin Rouge is fairly sweet. And Mamma Mia! is one of the ultimate feel-good movies, but lots of the guys I know don't like it for whatever reason.

I'm not gonna include the animated Disney musicals because I'm assuming you've seen them :)
Waiting for Wal-Mart to tell me when orientation is and playing Pokemon Emerald. What are you up to?
    Meh, yeah.
My ideas keep changing though. I can't come up with anything solid like I did with The Sound's Specimens. ><
No, but I've lived with it for five years this April; I can't even begin to imagine what life would be like if my parents were still together. And I don't really want to, actually--my mom wouldn't be allowed to have an infinite number of cats (and she wouldn't own her own pet supply store <3), and I woud be much less independent and emotionally strong. Actually, I might never have gotten into Warriors. *shudder* Then I wouldn't be on the Internet... and what then? *mind goes blank* ...I might never even write much! *horror*

    ... [/long]
It would be, but my parents are divorced and have joint custody; I spend one week with each, Friday to Friday. This is my dad's week, so my birthday well wind up being on Mom's day. And both of my parents want to celebrate, so...
Weeeell, since my birthday is on the 22nd, I'm awaiting a birthday dinner tonight~

(And 4:30 so I can chat with Leafpool, but yeah. xD)
