I'm trying to say that you should replace it and shouldn't have used bang-notation there in the first place because -- while it will probably be parsed the same -- it's incorrect and continues to degrade its original meaning. Why repeat misuse of something that is gradually changing to mean something else when there's nothing else that means what it originally meant?

I'm pretty sure the forwardslash is used for pairings to imply that it's a dong. It's also easier to read than AxB or namesmushes and doesn't require as much knowledge of the fandom as numbers or cutesy pairing names do, so.

No, it's not the same thing: first off, adjective!noun is completely redundant because you could just as easily use a space or a hyphen for it. Second, it's used to denote that something is off. CharacterA/CharacterB is a convention that is particularly useful because it's easier to read than the other options and, depending on the fandom, can also be used to summarize character relationships. (I'm thinking of Gundam here.)

There are no benefits to using "TCoD!jerks" over "TCoD-jerks" or even "jerks from TCoD" and it ignores where the convention started, so why use it?

Yeah, see, "TCoD!jerks" means 'tcod not-jerks'. Exclamation points mean 'not'. That's the whole point of adjective!noun: it is not properly whatever the noun is. Goth!Hermione means that it is goth and not Hermione.
