• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

  • So anyway, I'm home now, so I'll attempt to explain it.

It begins with Link having a dream of walking through a temple of some sort, accompanied with several children from his village, Soliris, which is home of the Dream Sage, a, uh, sage whose job it is to glean the future from people's dreams, dispel frequent nightmares and such. In the dream, they enter a chamber, where Link finds a flute, which he plays a few notes on. Suddenly the kids are ambushed by monsters, and Link awakes. Later in the day, the same kids ask him to come with them to the Forest of Dreams, a nearby temple where the dreams of all humans are recorded. They go there, and, of course, everything pretty much plays out as it was before, with Link taking the flute and playing it, which somehow causes monsters to attack. The kids narrowly escape, saved by the Dream Sage, who arrives in the nick of time. Around a week later, the Sage announces that, due to his age and such, he will soon pass his title and the Dream Sceptre to his son, Azril.

After the announcement, Link explains to the Sage about his dream and the way it came true, and about the strange flute. The Sage doesn't explain it, but instead orders Link to go to Castle Town and seek work at the castle, telling him it is of great importance that he does this. So Link travels there and manages to obtain a job in the Castle Guard. After a while of this job, he is presented before Princess Zelda, to whom all new workers are obliged to present themselves. During this audience, somebody enters the castle - a mysterious figure dressed in the clothes of the Dream Sage, wielding the Dream Sceptre, which appears somehow corrupted, with a large eye-like orb at the end. This figure breaks down through the floor into the deepest chamber of the castle, where, in this era, the Triforce is (rather haphazardly) kept in a chamber protected against all but the strongest magic. This figure somehow succeeds in taking the Triforce, and, taking Zelda, leaves.

Link of course, instinctively follows. He learns that each part of the Triforce has been across the world - one in the Wooden Volcano of the Atess Desert, one in the Silver Spire of Adanviss forest, and the last in the Crystal Fortress of the Kalsvel Wastes. Cue arbitrary quest to collect all three pieces. There is, however, of course, still the matter of Zelda to attend to. Link travels across the sea to Somnid Isle, where he must recruit Rachek, king of Gulls, to take him to the summit of Clereve Peak, where Zelda is being kept. However, he encounters the mysterious figure there, and, after a short battle, Link, harnessing the full power of the Triforce he now wields, receives what seems to be vision from the goddesses. He does as they order and uses his new powers to take the villanous figure back to Hyrule Castle, to be persecuted before Zelda and three representatives of the goddesses. It is revealed that the villain is, of course, Azril, the Dream Sage's son and heir, who seems sincerely apologetic for his actions, terrified of what faces him - but as he is about to be sentenced, the Dream Sceptre (Or rather, Nightmare Sceptre) comes to his hand, and he regains his courage, disappearing in a flash with one last warning - he intends to penetrate the Forest of Dreams and awaken 'The True Nightmare'. Link, of course, is ordered to go after him, but not before putting the Triforce back in its rightful place after using its power to summon the Master Sword. He returns to the Forest of Dreams, which is in ruins, but finds that the Entrance to Terror, which supposedly leads to the place where long ago an evil being was imprisoned, is locked by magic. Exploring the Forest further he finds the strange flute once again, just as the old Dream Sage enters. He tells Link that it is the Flute of Dreams, a mythical instrument said to be able to make the dreams of the one who plays it come true, provided it is played at the location of the dream.
Yeah - I came up with it before I knew the plot of Link's Awakening, but I think it's different enough to stay relatively unchanged. The Golden Deluge is a nice name!
If you like, I'll explain it tomorrow - I'll be home then so I'll have an actual keyboard which will make things 500% easier. In short, it's themed on dreams and nightmares and such.
Hmm, interesting. I like all the links back to Minish Cap; it was my first Zelda game and will always be one of my favourites.

I'd tell you mine, but I doubt it's as good XP
Oh yeah? I tried once when I was like 12. It was obviously terrible. I do have an almost complete LoZ story floating around my head, though. It's more suited to an actual game rather than a fanfic. What's the plot of yours, in brief?
Chilling sounds fun. I'm also supposed to be writing a spriting guide for a friend's website, but I love to procrastinate.
Nothing vastly exciting - I'm on holiday camping at the moment, heading home on saturday. And yourself?
Thank you (For the comment in the Forumgoers thread)! We should talk more. You seem rather awesome. (Also your big homosexuality timeline thing is rather amazing)

I ask the same question as Butch. It looks like an interesting book, but I cannot find ANYTHING about it online.
