I'd love to be a writer as well, and I too have a long way to go. When I was in kindergarten I really wanted to be a paleontologist who also wrote books- I was just obsessed with going to dinosaur museums. I think I grew out of that.
I'm glad that it is nearly Christmas. Christmas vacation and all that, you know, and the holiday is my favorite. Easter and Halloween come second, though Easter didn't line up with a vacation last year. My district typically gets off a day or two around Halloween, so that's nice.
There was a nine year old boy who wrote a book about picking up girls, and his story was posted online in the news for people to comment on.
They were really cruel, acting like he was arrogant or idiotic. I know it's silly for a nine year old to write about girls, but his tips were decent for a little kid and he seemed sincere, kind of untouched by how horrible dating can be and such. It was really sweet to read the article, but then we had people commenting, saying that girls don't like smart guys. That comment puzzled me. What about intelligent guys is not to like? I had a short-lived crush on this one really smart guy a while back- we kind of hated each other and he didn't have many friends, but he didn't seem pathetic or even nerdy. He was just... above it all. It was kind of obvious that he was going to have probably the best future of all of us. And he was funny, too. And nice-looking!
In short, that comment was dumb because people that show creativity, intelligence, ambition, and promise are really awesome. And I tend to ramble about past crushes. (I never did tell anyone except my parents about that.)
