Terrain: Outside the Battle Arena

The battle takes place right outside the Battle Frontier's Battle Arena facility, out in the open air. The immediate area is covered in nicely manicured grass and a few flowers. The Arena building itself is surrounded on three sides by water and a small pond sits on the other side of the battlers, so water moves can be used and Water-types that need to swim can do so. The battlers cannot move away from the immediate area, so heading towards the plaza or another facility is forbidden.

Since this match is happening so close to the Arena, it seems such a shame not to follow Greta's rules... or, at least, a variation on them. As such, both battlers will send out their PokÈmon and attack for three battle rounds (a total of 9 attacks per PokÈmon) before the ref calls a halt. After the three rounds both PokÈmon are recalled and unable to continue in the current battle, and their current health, energy and status are noted for later. Both trainers will then send out their next Pokémon and continue for the next three rounds. At the end (which should be nine total rounds), the health and energy of all Pokémon is totaled and whichever trainer has the highest score wins.

The following rules also apply:

-If a Pokémon has fainted, either due to HP loss OR energy loss, the battle stops right where it is (even if it has not yet been three rounds) and both Pokémon are recalled. Fainted PokÈmon DO still count toward the final score, but as either their health or their energy is at 0% they won't add anywhere near as much.

-If, at the end of the three rounds, a battler is afflicted with a status condition, that condition detracts from their final score as follows:

Paralyzed, Burned, Confused: -10 points
Poisoned, Attracted: -15 points
Asleep, Frozen: -20 points

If the Pokémon has more than one status condition, only the first one they were afflicted with detracts full points; all others afterwards only detract five, no matter what they are.

A small patch of grass outside the Battle Arena has been roped off and currently stands empty beneath a clear blue Hoenn sky. The little flowers peppering the grass within the enclosure don't know just how lucky they are--their friends and family outside the boundary are getting trampled to death by the gathering of sweaty bystanders who've shown up to watch the upcoming match.

The heat in Hoenn's high summer is tremendous, and all present are fanning themselves with crumpled brochures about the championships, enjoying the breeze flung from battery-operated fans, or armed with water bottles and sun hats. There is more than one comment to the effect that this all could have been done
inside the Battle Arena, where there is actually air conditioning, and these are blissfully ignored by the league officials scattered throughout the crowd.

The bellyaching dies down as soon as the first trainer arrives, though; the crowd parts at the sight of the registration badge pinned to their shirt, and all gripes fall silent as they step over the rope and into the arena. Across the field from them, their opponent does likewise.

The flowers in the arena bob and sway as a light breeze whips through the crowd and a referee materializes at one edge of the field, raising flags. For the moment, they're lucky--but only time will tell how the battle might overturn their little paradise.

The RE-MA are small pods placed on whatever limbs the pokemon in question uses to move, and enhance the muscles in those areas, making the pokemon quicker and, in effect, giving it an automatic boost of one level to their speed and evasion. These boosts apply mostly like normal ones, although they cannot be altered or stolen due to the mechanical nature of the pods. The pokemon's stats can still be decreased to the normal minimum by stat down moves, and they cannot reach above six levels.
Effect:Automatic +1 boost to speed and evasion, and apply like normal stat boosts but cannot be outright stolen or swapped.

Hrm... whichever one I send out is countered by one of Animorph's.

I'll send out Oscar, I guess.

...I do not like the looks of Oscar. Welp, might as well go for...Donna.

Donna, start it off with a double team- two copies. Follow that up with a quick Aerial Ace, and then just get up higher than he is and chill.

Re: Prettzel vs Animorph (ref: Kindling Queen)

Oscar, you're faster, especially with that body mod of yours, so hit Donna with a Thunder Wave. On the second action, if Double Team succeeded, use Shock Wave to target both her and the clones. If it didn't, use Yawn. Round it off with Thunderbolt.

Round 1

Just outside the arena a battle is soon to start. The reff came staggering towards them panting having read the directions to get there poorly and stood hunched over panting. The grass was thick and lush decorated with various flowers of appealing colors, the water cool and refreshing and the sun high overhead holding the remaining spirit of Summer up above. The trainers glance over at the tardy reff with raised brows before reaching for red spheres strapped to belts at their waists. Upon Negrek's demands, Prettzel gave a swing of the arm releasing from a clenched fist a Pokeball. It spiraled upwards and froze in midair before a red streak emitted from it casting a tall white figure out onto the field. The watchers trembled excitedly as it punched the ground with a bawled fist and raised it's head with a weary grin. Prettzel's first Pokemon is a Zangoose by the name of Oscar. The heat was troublesome but not too bad on his lightly colored coat. Animorph gives a grunt and pouts before retrieving a Pokeball from his own waistband. His Pokeball propelled upward and loomed over the field as an airborn Pokemon glided down and stretched its small wings challengingly. It was a Taillow Animorph addressed as Donna. Once perched in the grass, she swallowed deeply and shivered as she looked up at her opponent. A terrible grin on his face. The reff patted down the sides of her hair and gave a slight nod before outstretching a hand with a smile, "Begin!

The small bird chirped fiercely before flappng her wings frantically taking flight in an attempt to create the illusion of multile targets. With Oscar's speed adavantage, he took action ahead of time. Clapping his big hands together, Oscar began to focus on the weak flare of electricity to be released. His long claws glowed brightly as the static began to become more and more visible. Taking on a small dash forward he opened his hands aimd directly at Donna. Donna glanced over at the advancing stream and flapped harder trying to avoid it. The wave slapped into her side with a startling zap and the Taillow lost elevation coming closer and closer to the ground again. Donna screeched in agony as the static pricked at her body in rapid flashes of yellow.

Donna winced just hearing her next orders. An Aerial Ace but...in this condition? Perhaps it was better than sitting around and letting things happen right? With mid paralysis she could only imagine how worng this could turn out. Now staggering forwar trying to open her wings she fell over with a great thud only a foot in front of where she started. Oscar snickered and knelt down before the bird opening his mouth heaving a Yawn onto her. Donna glared but her narrowed eyes grew heavy and drooped. There was an inexplainable exhaustion coming over her.

With Oscar's actions most successful he felt like the king of the world. Donna was feeling drowsy and never found the grass so snuggly. Reluctant to go anywhere, Donna took heavy steps and flapped her wings. The static made her feel like every nerve in her body was exploding and she slumped back down. Donna remained nestled in the grass panting from great pain. Oscar again brought his clawed hands together and this time the electric warped larger and larger into a greater size with great visible power. The Zangoose drew his hand back and with a loud roar thrusted it upwards releasing a great bolt that struck from above down onto the Taillow. Donna sqwuaked and bolted forward in pain holding her hind between ruffled feathers. So much for chilling. Osar on the other hand is panting heavily. Using moves out of his own type was definitely energy consuming. When he turned to Donna though, she was still stretched out on the ground but snoring through her beak.

Excellent first round, Oscar. Let's keep this up.

Let's take advantage of Donna's sleep and use Strength to toss her into the larger of the two bodies of water; aim for the middle. After that, have at her with two Thunderbolts. I doubt she'll be able to do much to you there, what with being waterlogged and all, but she might attempt a Protect. If this happens, Chill. If she makes it to the edge of the pond/lake on the third action, greet her with another Thunder Wave.

Donna, sleep talk until you wake up. When you wake up, use fly, and if you have any actions left, use facade. And just try to keep moving.

Round 2

The first round was not only eventful but proved to be the worst round on Animorph's behalf. Donna felt the burn of Oscar having left not a single scratch on the Zangoose in retaliation. the lovely summer heat is beating down on them though leaving them uncomfortably dry and fairly sweaty. The arena has yet to have taken an noteable damage or changes but is as beautiful as ever proving to pose as an epic arena for the prelims! With the crowd nagging me to get this going I guess now would be the time to introduce round two.

The Taillow chirped as she sleeped while Oscar stood back a bit. Tucking his thick arms in he began to glow a faint white as he conjured up his strength. Dashing forward he roughly shoved the small bird up off of the grass and towards the water. There was a slight error in this for the Taillow landed by te most shallow end. Still fast asleep, Donna stood up. Oscar looked at her confusedly. Unaware of her unconscious state he assumed the cold water had awoken her. Donna's eyes were still shut though and upon a slight mumbling came an odd jerk of the body ad a luminous glow of yellow. Oscar stared blankly at her before gasping and clutching at his shoulder feeling a sudden drop in wellness. Donna had used Endeavor and evened it out. The Zangoose was far from pleased and most eager to get the next hit in.

Oscar squinted in the light of the sun and glared at the snoring Taillow standing in the water sleeping. Bawling a fist, he stored electricity between both hands creating the same great force of power. With a great shove the electricity bolted forward striking Donna right in the chest. With an earsplitting shriek she awoke and hd her wings stretched in a panic. Gasping for breath she looked at where she stood and the static around her in alarm. It wasn't a dream! The victory she saw in her sleep hadn't been the reality she hoped for. Clasping hr beak shut she tried flapping her wings. It hurt horribly and she only fluttered back onto the grass. Her ruffled feather wings were drooping at her sides as she continued to pant and narrowed her eyes fixating on Oscar. He was more in shock than feeling triumphant about the end results. The fact that he was still leading in life was a big deal but he hadn't expected this.

Oscar crossed his arms now thinking over his next actions. Donna was at the end of the lake so....now he would use Thunder Wave again correct? He only had to think it over because well...Donna had never been in the deep side so being at the end now still counted was what he assumed. The Taillow began to hop towards him little by little. Oscar grinned seeing his target near and focused the weak flare in is hand ready to strike. As soon as he started to release the attack he was caught off guard by a Facade. Donna flailed in place and then threw herself at him in a fury flashin ready and sweating in frustration. Oscar stumbled and lost hi footing before falling onto his back. Donna was perched on his outstetched tail snickering while wincing for every struck nerve she felt from the paralysis. Her smug little look said loud and clear, "Who's on top now?!" With one round remaining can Donna pull this off?

Round 3

The final round for these two battlers has come to its close. They have only three actions left to make their final appeal to the battle. We previously witnessed a major comeback from our high spirited Taillow, Donna. She had pulled off some serious hits but Oscar kept the challenge in the palm of his hand when he zapped her health down again. Paralysis isn't holding her back as much by now and the crowd is screeching wildly wanting me to reff even though the darn ASB section kept getting blocked on my computer. Don't hate >.> Anyway, with Donna taking first command may the final round for these battlers begin!

Donna was delighted to hear her first command and chirped before preparing to take action. With the slim but most effective difference in speed, Oscar hastily opened his mouth and fiercely roared in her face. The sound echoed through her ears (or...holes) leaving the bird in a wild tremble as the sound absorbed her train of thought. The small bird swayed till she lost footing and lost her balance tumbling into the grass off of the Zangoose. The crowd had shrunken to the ground shaking just as much as Donna.

Angered by her failed attempt to even out the odds, Donna stood back up to try and get the next move right. Oscar grinned knowing what was to come and how he'd repay the favor. Upon a horrid screech Donna tucked her static struck wings back to her sides. Paralysis came back. To her horror she was left vulnerable. Though it then became a surprise when the great Zangoose looked more flustered then she. Standing there with a strange glow he bawled fists with a scary face on. His small eyes were even more narrowed than before in this bitter fury. Donna took nervous steps away and sqwuaked when she slid on mud by the water onto her belly.

With the final and most important move to take place the two wasted no time when the commands were issued. Donna was just about ready to fall into a well deserved slumber when a whistle was blown. Direct healing moves aren't allowed! Donna chirped in rebellion when suddenly a harsh cackle echoed in her ears. Oscar was taunting her. Calling her small, pathetic and a nuisance to her trainer. Now fierce, the birds wings ruffled but she winced from the static. All she wanted now was to tear that guys limbs off. Oscar huffed, his white chest rising and falling heavily as he did rather disapointed in the turn out of events from the previous actions, but time was up. The crowd roared anxiously awaitting the results while red streaks enveloped the Pokemon before withdrawing them back into the multicolored spheres in the hands of the trainers.

Troublesome...I really should have gotten that Trapinch.

Well, anyway, I'll follow up with my Combusken, Hookbill.

Start off with Will-O-Wisp, because I love status. If he Protects, use Bulk Up. If he pulls out Thunder Wave or Light Screen, Mirror Move it. Next action, use Will-O-Wisp if you haven't already or if it missed (except due to Double Team); otherwise, if he uses Thunder Wave or Light Screen and has not used it before, use Mimic, unless you've used Mirror Move already. Use Flamethrower if neither the above conditions are met; if he has clones, sweep it back and forth until you find the real one. Finally, use Flamethrower, keeping in with the Double Team proviso. If he Protects, use Feint--it doesn't make contact, apparently, so Static is of no worry to you. If you are paralysed, lay into him with Facade.

Anywho, Sparky, for yoru first action, Rain dance. Might as well get off on a hampering start. After that, I want you to use Mud-slap, as it's apparently the only move you have that's super effective against it, and I have a sneaking suspicion that accuracy would be a good thing to lower. For your third action, wait until he's done attacking, and then give him a nice thunderwave.

Round 4

With Prettzel currently leading we had Animorph send out his second Pokemon for the next three rounds. Showing disappointment in his failure to lead, he reached for a Pokeball and held it pointing at the grass. The red light streaked down and laid out a green dog with a monstrous forehead. The Electrike let out a playful yelp and wagged his tail. His name happens to be Sparky. I wonder why >.> Anyway...Prettzel didn't look too pleased but sighed off the look of doubt when holding out his own Pokeball. From it a pleasant pop and then at the end of the red streak was a feisty chicken kicking and punching at the air. The crowd roared excitedly while throwing empty chip bags at me for stalling. Glancing at the two ready fighters, a hand soon fell and the second match begins!

The perky bird hopped from one foot to the other listening intently for a command. As a Will-o-Wisp was issued he watched carefully to see if the Electrike planned to avoid or immitate his stat inflicting actions. Without any signs of such thing, Hookbill outstretched his claws and waved his hands enchantedly in front of himself while concentrating on manipulating his own fire source. Meanwhile, Sparky had broken into frolic like hops and turns while keeping his tail in motion. His eyes were gued to the sky that was now darkening showing no mind to Hookbill's preparations. Soon enough a handful of flames that materialized midair into purple like embers were dancing before him. With a gentle thrust of the arms the flames dashed off to the mutt who was finishing his final shakes of the torso. With great alarm he felt his side burn by the scorching flames. While trying to lick his side to ease the pain, Hookbill looked up in horror after a small splash was felt on his beak.

The sky was a deepening purple with clouds stretching across the sky. The Combusken was hopping around, not from excitement but from fear. The cold sensation of water was toying with his mind making him frantic and uneasy. The crowd scattered seeking umbrellas while the reff hastily took cover beneath the tree nearest to her. Sparky was lettinghis tongue ang out while he lapped up the falling water but shook himself off when Animorph called upon his attention. The dirt beneath them was absorbing water and grew loose by the second. Mud would be an easy task. Hookbill tried to register the conditions met and stopped his bouncing when his foot slid back from the moisture in the ground. Sparky was burned so a Flamethrower? Uncomfortable in the growing cold of the rain, Hookbill took a deep breath in before bowing with his beak open. The heated flow of flames warmed his chest and stretched out reaching to the spunky pup. The rain reasonably decreased the impact having eliminated some of the flames to collide with him but dd not prevent the attack. Sparky was growling angrily at the added searing at his side and lunged forward landing with his stubby legs kicking up the mud that would then slap the damp fowl square in the chest. Losing his footing completely, Hookbill staggered and fell onto his back.

Feathers of yellow and orange were now stained and caked with layers of mud and grass. The crowd had returned in huddles with colorful umbrellas watching closely. The Combusken looked like a walking mound of earth. His claws and eyes were barely in tact but he felt horribly filthy, heavy and wet. Clenching fists he angrily bowed forward again and from his beak came another hurtle of flames. The blast of flames barely grazed the Electrikes ear in the poor attempt to strike. Sparky shook himself with the rain feeling the pleasant coolness against his nearly charred fur before glancing with a grin at Animorph. Now vulnerable to attack, Hookbill took a step back as a weak flare of electricity darted forward engulfing him in static that stabbed at every nerve in unison torchering the bird onto his knees. The rain pitter patted off of his back slowly running some mud off of his back feathers.

Ugh, this is not going well. Hookbill, let's go for a Swagger first; try to be loud and verbal, since you've got mud on your face. Second, use Swagger if you didn't last action or it missed; otherwise, Dig. Last action, try to pull off a Counter. For the first two actions, if you're too paralyzed to pull off your command, or Sparky's too confused to attack you on the second action, just try to clean your face. Round 5

Recapping our previous round Animorph truned the table when Sparky took action. Though vulnerable to te Combuskens ability he kept strong and was smmoth in his well played out tactics. Both suffer from status corruptions but neither are down for the count! Rain is making the round muddy and proving fatal for the immobile Pokemon. Hookbill is having serious troubles not just of speed and agility but of vision. The heavy mud coating over his eyes is making it nearly impossible to get anything done. With umbrellas to the sky and a darkening atmosphere up above, let us continue the second match up.

Eager to get things moving along, Sparky moves forward a bit away from the trees looming over him and lets out a sharp howl before summoning a bolt of lighting that spiraled out of his green and damp body in a dazzling streak of yellow. Hookbill sceeched even before the hit as the paralysis held his attack back. With the powerful hit combining forces with the rain and the moisture, Hookbill cringed as he forced himself to remain standing. The mud did prove useful though. It countered the additional damage of being wet having provided resistance. Panting and shivering as the cold rain struck his back again, Hookbill scraped at his face with limp hands removing the caked on mud bit by bit to try and see again as he stood back up. Sparky wasn't too botherd by this but did wince at the burning at his side.

Lifting his stubby legs as he felt them begin to sink, Sparky began charging up a ball of electricity from within. Meanwhile as the green mutt took deep breaths Hookbill strained again for movement. This brought another zing of pain and brought him to submission. Slapping off more piles of mud from his eyes he was pleased to see light but then felt his heart sink. It was dark out when he last remembered and....light wasn't supposed to make chirping noises. Taking a step back as the bright ball of electricity advanced on him he let out another pleading screech for mercy as he was thrusted onto his back a second time. The crowd was leaning over the railing excitedly.

Feeling stupor but able to see again, Hookbill scratched his head. He was to attempt a Counter given the mutt escaped his other moves. Sighing with grief he relaxed his body and furrowed his brows at the unpleasant heaviness he was obtaining from standing there and falling in mud. Luckily his body laminated in a barely visible red aura. Sparky was too joyous to care and sprinted forward. Skidding about a bit the Electrike nearly missed target. With ease from the big target he thrusted himself against him releaseing a fuming power. Hookbill as if in routine began to fall back but as if he were planning this-spun about on his heel and gave a mighty shove releasing the power by two. Sparky slid through the mud till he hit the tree now coated in mud and grass as well. Not exactly blinded by it but more binded by it for he could feel the weight like a burden on his back. The two panted and groaned at the mud but sighed as some slid off from the lovely or not so lovely pelting rain. With only one round left before the final switch, who will come on top?

->Rain cleared 2 Speeds worth of mud from Pokemon
Terrain: The ground is slippery and muddy providing a 10% chance one will fall upon hasty movement or recieved damage by 6+. The rain is coming down hard and the sky is dark. Heavy compilations of mud from falls will decrease Speed by 3 for every fall or by 2 for lack of movement on the ground allowing one to sink into the mud from resting weight too long. If a Pokemon reaches -6 then it will cost an additional 2% energy to carry out an attack requiring movement. The speed can go up by ones for every two physical actions. The rain alone will return speed by twos every whole round.
->Prettzel attacks first next round
-Animorph attacks second
