Fire emblem is great
After a bit of thought, during which period the area was silent save for the rustling of wind, the two battlers sent out their respective pokémon. First was Eifie, with a beautiful pink catlike pokémon whose piercing dark eyes seemed to stare through her glasses directly into JackPK’s soul. But the other trainer was not deterred, and after a short moment of thought sent out his own answer to his opponent’s effort – a Spinarak, who hardily plopped down on the bridge and glanced around. Both pokémon instinctively felt Inver’s power flowing through the air, and both of them narrowed their eyes at each other. The referee waited a short moment to ensure that both battlers were ready, and then as soon as they were, he raised both his flags and declared the beginning of the second half of the battle.
Adelle began the battle by lifting her opponent into the air with psychic power. It was a quick attack, and unexpected too, for immediately Gwen started to struggle. But alas, the Spinarak was not a particularly heavy pokémon, and she was forced to eventually resign herself to her fate. But perhaps she could do a little better. While she didn’t have the kind of power that her opponent, a dedicated psychic-type, had access to, she did have a little bit of her own psychic power. And this she decided to use, to pick up her opponent just as her opponent had picked her up. The reversal of fates caught Adelle completely by surprise, without a countermeasure ready, and without any control she was brought to float right before Gwen, who latched onto her back with her six legs before releasing her psychic hold.
The Espeon struggled to move, but it was no use. Her opponent was held just a little too far above the ground for her to be able to make contact and pull herself back down, and simply undoing the telekinetic hold that had them both hostage right now didn’t occur to her. Instead, she let out a sharp cry, to no avail, and then closed her eyes in order to focus her spirit. There was no way for her to launch a Zap Cannon from this range, so this was the next best thing. The next time that spider was in range, she should get ready for a walloping.
Just as she finished getting focused, and as she was opening her eyes, she felt a sharp pain in her head. Gwen was poking and prodding around with her mind, limbs occupied just with holding on to her body. And it was painful, sure, but Adelle just endured it for a moment and then it was gone. So she turned her head, craning her neck, to look at the Spinarak on her back. There Gwen was, just casually staring straight ahead. She met Adelle’s gaze, and Adelle was immediately filled with rage. But briefly, for just as quickly she made herself smirk, and paged some telepathic remarks into her opponent’s head. As she monologued, she closed her eyes and acted smug, as though she were still in control. And suddenly she felt those thoughts bounce back towards her, and also her body hit the ground. Adelle opened her eyes and they darted up to look at her still-suspended opponent, floating in the air with legs curled up and a translucent green sphere protecting her. She was free now, at least, so she cautiously took a few steps backwards, only to realize that the referee was calling the end of the round. Her opponent slowly descended to the ground as her telekinetic hold began to weaken, and so she glared at Gwen. There would be consequences, that she could promise.
Referee Notes
~Telekinesis just raises the pokémon, not anything around it, except what it might be holding on to. However: Spinarak weighs 8.5kg, while Espeon weighs 26.5kg. Considering Spinarak is able to climb on walls and ceilings easily, and given that a spider about one-eighth its size can maintain with its legs an adhesive force equal to 160x its own body weight, it is reasonable to assume that Spinarak would be able to maintain a force equal to three or four times its own body weight. As a result, Gwen ended up grabbing onto Adelle’s back and not letting go, thus dragging her into the air as well. Adelle telekinetically lifted Gwen, who grabbed onto Adelle and took her along for the ride.
~Eifie specified “If you can’t hit her” on action 2, and given that Adelle had no chance of hitting a target clinging on to her back with Zap Cannon, she went with Focus Energy instead.
~On action 3, Adelle still used Swagger, as it doesn’t really require movement to do and she could perform it mostly by just talking. As such, Gwen used Protect.
~JackPK commands first.
