[15] Eifie vs JackPK (ref: Superbird)

After a bit of thought, during which period the area was silent save for the rustling of wind, the two battlers sent out their respective pokémon. First was Eifie, with a beautiful pink catlike pokémon whose piercing dark eyes seemed to stare through her glasses directly into JackPK’s soul. But the other trainer was not deterred, and after a short moment of thought sent out his own answer to his opponent’s effort – a Spinarak, who hardily plopped down on the bridge and glanced around. Both pokémon instinctively felt Inver’s power flowing through the air, and both of them narrowed their eyes at each other. The referee waited a short moment to ensure that both battlers were ready, and then as soon as they were, he raised both his flags and declared the beginning of the second half of the battle.

Round 7

Eifie (ØO)
espeonwise-glasses
Adelle – Espeon (♀) @ Wise Glasses
Health: 100%
Energy: 100%
Ability: Synchronize
Type: Psychic
Condition: Calm and collected.
Status: Normal.
Actions: Telekinesis / Future Sight ~ Zap Cannon / Dazzling Gleam / Focus Energy ~ Swagger / Signal Beam / Reflect

JackPK (ØO)
spinarakred-card
Gwen – Spinarak (♀) @ Red Card
Health: 100%
Energy: 100%
Ability: Insomnia
Type: Bug / Poison
Condition: Not particularly frightened.
Status: Normal.
Commands: Psychic / Toxic ~ Psychic / Protect ~ Protect / Toxic / Psychic

Adelle began the battle by lifting her opponent into the air with psychic power. It was a quick attack, and unexpected too, for immediately Gwen started to struggle. But alas, the Spinarak was not a particularly heavy pokémon, and she was forced to eventually resign herself to her fate. But perhaps she could do a little better. While she didn’t have the kind of power that her opponent, a dedicated psychic-type, had access to, she did have a little bit of her own psychic power. And this she decided to use, to pick up her opponent just as her opponent had picked her up. The reversal of fates caught Adelle completely by surprise, without a countermeasure ready, and without any control she was brought to float right before Gwen, who latched onto her back with her six legs before releasing her psychic hold.

The Espeon struggled to move, but it was no use. Her opponent was held just a little too far above the ground for her to be able to make contact and pull herself back down, and simply undoing the telekinetic hold that had them both hostage right now didn’t occur to her. Instead, she let out a sharp cry, to no avail, and then closed her eyes in order to focus her spirit. There was no way for her to launch a Zap Cannon from this range, so this was the next best thing. The next time that spider was in range, she should get ready for a walloping.

Just as she finished getting focused, and as she was opening her eyes, she felt a sharp pain in her head. Gwen was poking and prodding around with her mind, limbs occupied just with holding on to her body. And it was painful, sure, but Adelle just endured it for a moment and then it was gone. So she turned her head, craning her neck, to look at the Spinarak on her back. There Gwen was, just casually staring straight ahead. She met Adelle’s gaze, and Adelle was immediately filled with rage. But briefly, for just as quickly she made herself smirk, and paged some telepathic remarks into her opponent’s head. As she monologued, she closed her eyes and acted smug, as though she were still in control. And suddenly she felt those thoughts bounce back towards her, and also her body hit the ground. Adelle opened her eyes and they darted up to look at her still-suspended opponent, floating in the air with legs curled up and a translucent green sphere protecting her. She was free now, at least, so she cautiously took a few steps backwards, only to realize that the referee was calling the end of the round. Her opponent slowly descended to the ground as her telekinetic hold began to weaken, and so she glared at Gwen. There would be consequences, that she could promise.

Gwen – Spinarak (♀) @ Red Card
Health: 100%
Energy: 85%
Ability: Insomnia
Type: Bug / Poison
Condition: Pretty satisfied with this first round.
Status: Normal
Actions: Psychic (movement) ~ Psychic (damage) ~ Protect

Referee Notes
~Telekinesis just raises the pokémon, not anything around it, except what it might be holding on to. However: Spinarak weighs 8.5kg, while Espeon weighs 26.5kg. Considering Spinarak is able to climb on walls and ceilings easily, and given that a spider about one-eighth its size can maintain with its legs an adhesive force equal to 160x its own body weight, it is reasonable to assume that Spinarak would be able to maintain a force equal to three or four times its own body weight. As a result, Gwen ended up grabbing onto Adelle’s back and not letting go, thus dragging her into the air as well. Adelle telekinetically lifted Gwen, who grabbed onto Adelle and took her along for the ride.
~Eifie specified “If you can’t hit her” on action 2, and given that Adelle had no chance of hitting a target clinging on to her back with Zap Cannon, she went with Focus Energy instead.
~On action 3, Adelle still used Swagger, as it doesn’t really require movement to do and she could perform it mostly by just talking. As such, Gwen used Protect.
~JackPK commands first.

Action 1
~Adelle uses Telekinesis, for 2% energy
~Gwen uses Psychic, for 5% energy, to draw Adelle close, and grabs onto her back (1% energy)
~Gwen is being levitated for 2 more actions (1% energy)
Action 2
~Adelle uses Focus Energy, for 5% energy
~Gwen uses Psychic, for 9*1.5=13% damage and 5% energy
~Gwen is being levitated for 2 more actions (1% energy) and holding on (1% energy)

~Adelle uses Swagger, for 4% energy
~Gwen uses Protect, for 3% energy
~Gwen is no longer levitating.

Good work, Gwen! You are a true spider-Gwen who does whatever a spider-Gwen does. Rather than overthink your commands for this round, I think I'll just go for broke and hope that being uncomplicated means few loopholes to take advantage of.

Use Sludge Bomb until Adelle's poisoned, at which point switch to Venoshock!

But instead make sure to Protect against Telekinesis or the releasing action of Bide.

If you're hit by Signal Beam, activate your Red Card immediately.

Sludge Bomb / Protect ~ Sludge Bomb / Venoshock / Protect x2

All right, Adelle! Now's your chance to attempt to earn my love and respect by finally turning the tables on this battle!

Now, I want you to put your Wise Glasses down and Covet Gwen's Red Card. If her Sludge Bomb does not poison you, use the Red Card straight away to ban it. The next turn she'll probably be too surprised to do anything at all, so take this opportunity to pick up your Wise Glasses again and see if you can get in a Dazzling Gleam as well. (I don't care if you pick them up before, during, or after the attack.) You don't even need to be looking at Gwen to use that, since you're literally just giving off light in all directions, so I hope you'll be able to do both. Maybe even just sweep them up with your tail or something. If you can't, though, just stick with attacking and we'll fetch them later.

Finally, the fun part! At this point Gwen will probably resort to using Venoshock to try and get some damage in, and the only place she can fire it from is her mouth. Before she can do so, I want you to get around her and Bite down hard on her midsection from behind. She's not going to be able to reach you with her attacks from that position, and she's relatively small compared to you, so I hope you will easily be able to poke your head over the edge of the bridge and just drop her straight down (preferably into the water)! Don't let go of her until she's tried to attack you and failed, though.

If Sludge Bomb does poison you, do not use the Red Card yet. Instead I want you to put up a Light Screen, and while you do so, position yourself so that you can as easily as possible pick up your glasses. If you've got enough dexterity to pick them up with your tail, definitely position yourself that way. Once you're hit by Venoshock, ban it and then pick up your glasses straight away. Finally, proceed to do the Bite thing as before.

Good luck, Adelle! Don't disappoint me, now...

Covet (swap Wise Glasses for Red Card) ~ Dazzling Gleam / Light Screen ~ Bite (from behind, drop over the edge of the bridge)

(Also, I mentioned to Superbird that Gwen probably should have had to expend a decent amount of energy to keep a hold on Adelle like that against the pull of gravity for two actions. She's strong, yes, but that doesn't mean it happens without effort. What do you think, Jack? :O)

The next round began promptly, and Adelle sprang immediately into action. With a quick flick of her head, her wise glasses were thrown to the ground, and she ran forward, towards her opponent. Closing the distance in only a few seconds, she immediately began to plead Gwen to show her her item. The Spinarak was hesitant – what did her opponent have to gain? She probably already knew she had a Red Card, so what was the big deal with having to see it in particular? But then again, there was no risk in giving her information she already had, right? Somewhat apprehensively, Gwen revealed her Red Card, attached to one of her six legs. And Adelle, the moment she saw it, reached out and grabbed it, using her hindquarters to bash Gwen back. She smiled, holding the Red Card in one paw, and began to walk back towards her side of the arena.

Gwen was, understandably, rather cross about this, and so decided that it was time to take revenge. Gurgling up a mess of toxins, she quickly released them towards her opponent in a large ball of sludge. Adelle was prepared for the attack, but it still packed a punch, forcing her even further back. But it was the opportunity she was waiting for, and in response she held up the Red Card. The referee immediately blew a whistle, startling both battlers, and called a quick timeout to declare that Gwen was no longer allowed to use Sludge Bomb, and any use of the move would result in an instant loss.

A rather harsh penalty, but those were the rules, after all. Gwen thought about what to do – her opponent clearly wasn’t poisoned, and she couldn’t use Sludge Bomb to make her opponent poisoned. But Adelle didn’t seem to be using Telekinesis or Bide either, in fact, she was just walking over to pick up her glasses, and starting to glow—

The Dazzling Gleam was surprising mostly because Gwen was unprepared for the attack, and the sudden wave of fairy-type energy was startling. It wasn’t supposed to hurt this much; Gwen was a poison-type. Inverse battles were confusing. But there was still one thing that was true, and that was that psychic types were not resistant to poison. So the last option left was for Gwen to attack, regardless of whether or not she could use Sludge Bomb. With a cry, she let out a sharp spray of venom which flew across the arena and covered Adelle’s body. It wasn’t as potent as it could have been, but it was the best she could do under the circumstances.

Adelle’s retaliation was quick, and she began to rush towards Gwen. The Spinarak prepared another Venoshock, but wasn’t quite quick enough. She released the attack as fast as she could, but it was too late, for Adelle had already bitten into her side, holding her at an angle. Gwen’s attack went in the complete wrong direction. Suddenly, the Spinarak was gripped with fear. What was her opponent doing? Espeon wasn’t supposed to use Bite, that was Umbreon’s thing, right? Gwen began to flail, but again, she was too late, and Adelle tossed her off the edge of the bridge.

Thankfully, Gwen wasn’t too heavy, and only bounced once on the grassy island in the middle of the swamp below before landing on her feet and staring up at her opponent. When she got back up there, there would be revenge. Her opponent would rue the day when she threw Gwen off a cliff, but for now she looked to her trainer to tell her what to do.

Hmm, sorry, Adelle. I wasn't expecting that first Venoshock. Well, I suppose now's a good time to use our heal without paying too much energy for it, so go ahead and Morning Sun while you've got this chance to take a breather. Try to keep away from the sides of the bridge, so it'll be pretty difficult for your opponent to reach you with an attack from down there.

Next, if your opponent's gotten back on the bridge (or gotten you off it), let's get back to heaping on the hurt with a Signal Beam, swept if there are clones. If she's in targeting range and tries Toxic or Swagger, though, Protect against it. And if she's not hittable at all... just try to Chill, I guess. If you're meant to Chill but she's doing something that stops you from relaxing properly, Protect against that, too.

Finally, if she's in targeting range, try to get her with a Dazzling Gleam. If you can't use Dazzling Gleam, or if you're not able to hit her for any reason (including Substitute, not including clones), test out your Hidden Power. Aim it at her if she's there, whether she's Protecting or has a Substitute or whatever.

But if she used Giga Drain at any point during the round, use your last action to Mimic it instead.

Morning Sun ~ Signal Beam / Protect / Chill ~ Dazzling Gleam / Hidden Power / Mimic

Hmmm, this is a pickle, isn't it.

Well, String Shot's description describes it as "incredibly strong, incredibly sticky," so let's try and take advantage of that by making a lasso out of it and tossing it up onto the bridge to try to pull Adelle down here onto our level!

Ideally, Superbird would let you do all that in one action. If not, I guess spend the first action tossing the lasso and then the second tugging it? Also ideally, the lasso will go around Adelle, but since it's "incredibly sticky" you should only need to get it to touch her at a minimum, not necessarily wrap around her.

If you aren't strong enough to pull Adelle off the bridge, then instead just scuttle up the string to get back on the bridge, I guess.

Once you and Adelle are on the same playing field, if you have the second action free to do something with, toss her a Toxic to stop her from using Signal Beam. If you have the last action free, then regardless of what either of you have done prior in the round, wait until after she's moved and then use Giga Drain on her energy if she's in reach, or do nothing otherwise.

While her opponent was away, Adelle had the opportunity to recuperate a little. It had been a hard battle so far, and she’d taken a lot of damage. That was something she could fix. She began to glow, soaking up the power of the sun above, and using its energy in much the same way a plant might in order to heal her wounds and rejuvenate herself. And in the meantime, Gwen was fixing up a plot to get back on that bridge. Or, more accurately, bring her opponent down. Either way, it was time to continue the battle. Using the skill spiders were known for, Gwen spewed out a long mass of sticky silk, aimed perfectly up towards the bridge. Well, not perfectly, but good enough. The String Shot hit Adelle’s side, and didn’t let go.

The Espeon barely had time to react before Gwen pulled on the leash she’d just created. Adelle struggled, but it was too late, and before long she found herself dangling, losing her grip, falling all the way to the marshy island below. But she quickly dusted herself off from the fall, using a little bit of psychic power to remove the string from her side – or, most of it, anyway. That done, she fired a quick Signal Beam at her opponent, an attack that Gwen had obviously been expecting but that she couldn’t do anything about. She flinched from the attack, but Adelle didn’t give her any more time, following up with a Dazzling Gleam. Light flew out from her entire body to strike her foe, and as she should, Gwen cowered away from the attack, clearly in some sort of pain. But she didn’t back down – with a screech, she arched her back and threw her head towards the air, and green globs of energy suddenly began to pull themselves out of Adelle’s body. They weren’t her life force, no – they were her energy. And they were disappearing, about half of them dissipating in the air and the other half getting absorbed into Gwen’s body. The spinarak glared at her. She may have the upper hand for now, but the win was not going to be made easy.

I was actually noticing that a few days ago, and I'd very much appreciate that being factored in, although shouldn't it be three points of damage since she's used three attacks? Also, direct healing costs energy equal to 75% of the health recovered now, so Adelle should be out an additional 8% energy.

Hmm umm so now realistically, we're gonna have to win by energy consumption rather than by health. SO wait to see what Adelle's gonna do and then...

> IF Adelle tries to Chill, THEN disrupt her with an annoying Infestation
> IF Adelle uses a damaging move, THEN Protect against it
> IF Adelle does anything else, THEN use Giga Drain to drain her energy

When in doubt, if commands are circular or if for whatever reason it's impossible for you to use your command, default to Infestation unless she's already trapped by an infestation or you can't use it, in which case default to Giga Drain instead.

Infestation / Protect / Giga Drain (energy) x3

(EDIT: yes, amending Gwen's health and Adelle's energy is A-OK)

Haha... hahaha... hahahahahaha!

Adelle, it seems our foe's fate is sealed! Perhaps not as soon as I'd like, for that second conditional wasn't the one I was expecting, but our way is clear!

First, let's make use of your abundant health to laugh in the face of the first law of thermodynamics by converting 20% of your health into 10% extra of pure, Giga-Drainable energy!

tumblr_mep6v5GFDq1qk5qkyo6_1280.jpg

(This is definitely not just an excuse to use these apparently quite large Kaiba pictures. I declare that health is not an energy, okay.)

Next, Mimic that Giga Drain, and while you're still under your Substitute's protection, Chill in preparation for your grand finale. If somehow the Substitute is gone by your third action, trigger that Protect with a Giga Drain at health, energy, whatever instead.

Adelle might have been getting tired, but so must her opponent have been. Without hesitation, the moment the next round began, she harnessed her life energy to slowly form an increasingly large doll in front of herself, increasing steadily in size until it was about her size. And no sooner had the Substitute sprung to life from the life energy Adelle sacrificed to it, than it was struck by an attack. Orbs of green energy, familiar to Adelle, wrenched themselves out of the Substitute’s body, degrading it before Adelle had even had a chance to hide behind it. But the Substitute did not disappear, for it was stronger than Gwen could destroy in just one hit.

In fact, the second hit didn’t destroy it either. It did grow more battered, as more energy wrenched itself from the doll’s body, but it remained standing, steadfast, expressionless, facing Adelle’s opponent without moving. In the meantime, Adelle analyzed her opponent’s attack. She was a smart pokémon, and though she couldn’t normally use Giga Drain, she’d seen it in action often enough. Watching it happen, she was able to imitate it herself. Further along in this battle, she had no doubt that she would, too.

And now, she was starting to get a bit tired. It was time for her to rest, and that’s what she decided to do. Standing by, protected by her loyal Substitute, she watched her opponent carefully. Gwen saw this, and quickly became concerned. Her opponent was chilling, which was getting in the way, potentially, of her win condition. She needed to do something about it. So, using her bug-type powers, she called upon a swarm of miniature insects, each of them much smaller than even a Flabébé. They swarmed upon her opponent, or at least, that’s what Gwen thought they were doing, until she saw the Substitute bravely standing up to the assault. Adelle smirked at her opponent as the insects continued to tear away at her Substitute’s flesh. She was in the lead, and she knew it. All that remained was to hold her position until her opponent went down.

All right, sorry for the wait. These commands are pretty rushed, so do your best with them, Adelle!

I want you to start with a Giga Drain for health. If she's unhittable just Chill instead, but don't wait around. If she pulls any weird shit to avoid it, hopefully she can't fool you more than once, anyway.

Next, let's go for a Giga Drain on her health again if you can use it and hit her with it. If she has clones or for some other reason you can hit her with Dazzling Gleam but not Giga Drain, use that instead. Chill if you can't hit her at all, I guess. Uh... just do the same for the third action, with the added condition that you should Chill if you attacked both of the previous actions AND either you've been hit directly by a Giga Drain for energy, or she's not doing anything to disrupt you from it and nothing's happening to make Chilling not very restful.

Giga Drain (health) / Chill ~ Giga Drain (health) / Dazzling Gleam / Chill ~ Giga Drain (health) / Dazzling Gleam / Chill

blugh, hope I don't screw myself over by going with half-assed commands after making everyone wait for however many days... although I guess I have many more important things going on than tournament anyway. :/

Um...... I'm actually pretty sure we've been backed into a corner here, Gwen??? If we let you get hit with those Giga Drains, my very hurried back-of-the-napkin math says you'll be 2HKOable next round, but if we avoid them, she gets off a bunch of Chills and you won't really have much of a plausible way of winning that way, either.

So uh. Just. Bounce up onto the bridge I guess.

Scurry to a part of the bridge where you're not in her line of sight. Ideally that'll mean she can't use even some kind of extra-long-range attempt at a Dazzling Gleam. Then, after she's moved, scurry back over to the side of the bridge and toss a bunch of Toxic Spikes onto her little island, because I don't know what else to do. Prioritize not getting hit by Dazzling Gleam; if you have to sacrifice attacking to be sure you won't get hit, then just Chill if you can or do nothing if you really have to.

Finally, I guess just Chill??? But on the off chance that the Substitute accidentally ran into one of the spikes and prematurely poofed into nonexistence, or is somehow else nonexistent by now, go ahead and spit a Toxic at Adelle if you reasonably think you can do so with pretty good accuracy even from this far away.

UGH Insomnia. Rest is probably the only way for us to eke out a win. And we can't use it UGH

The next round began and commands were issued, and Gwen had no problems following her command to get out of there, away from her opponent. Fighting from a distance was indeed a much safer idea. But before she could abscond, her opponent had already begun to move. Adelle raised her tail, and using the skill, she mimicked just last round, she forced several green orbs to wrench themselves out of Gwen’s body and soar through the air past Adelle’s Substitute doll to embed themselves in her instead. The vitality flowed through her as the orbs arrived, only about half of them dissipating on the journey. And she felt healthy, energized, despite her growing fatigue.

Gwen, meanwhile, bounced away at the first opportunity, using her strong legs to shoot into the air and land nimbly on the bridge. The moment she arrived there, she retreated to its center, removing herself from her opponent’s view. Adelle didn’t pursue her opponent; instead, she simply waited, relaxing her mind and recovering a bit of energy. Only after a long moment did she look up to see several dark purple specks in the air above her. The Toxic Spikes rained down upon the island for several seconds, as many of them as Gwen could make and toss over the edge of the bridge. Adelle remained in a sitting position – the less chance of her stepping on any of them, the better.

Then, the two battlers waited. A minute passed; the referee raised a flag to indicate the end of the round. And just then, Adelle’s Substitute doll crumbled into dust. The insects wearing away from it had hardly been disruptive for the round before, but they were persistent. Gwen peeked over the edge as her Infestation flew away, its job done, and sighed in relief. That was a good sign; it meant she could now make some progress on her opponent. Hopefully.

Okay, so Adelle's probably going to try to use Psychic or Telekinesis to try to get you down from the bridge. Wait to see whether she does, and if so, Protect against it to waste her energy.

Otherwise, I guess let's keep trying to bug her and disrupt her remaining chills. Send down an Infestation as soon as you get a chance, unless she has a Substitute. As soon as you've got her in an infestation (or if for whatever reason you can't use Infestation effectively), use your own Psychic powers with the invade-her-mind version, to optimally disrupt any attempt to chill. If she has a Substitute, try using Psychic to physically batter Adelle with the Substitute in the hopes of damaging both. (I doubt it'll work, but hey, you never know.)

Protect/Infestation/Psychic x3

Hah! Chills? Who needs Chills? Thanks to our little spidey friend up there, we've got just what we need!

Adelle, I want you to use Confusion to manipulate the other end of that sticky string still attached to your fur. It's quite light, as is Gwen, so a weaker Psychic attack should be good enough to attach it back to Gwen and pull her down. Take multiple actions for it if you need to. If you can't pull the string easily enough with Confusion, try a Quick Attack in the direction you want to pull Gwen; since the other end of the string is stuck to your body, the momentum from Quick Attack should help you pull her down. It's okay if you step on a toxic spike, so don't worry about it. I guess if an Infestation would make that difficult, just stick with Confusion.

Once you've got her back on your level, eat into her with more Giga Drains.

Confusion (manipulate string) ~ Confusion (manipulate/pull string) / Quick Attack / Giga Drain (health) ~ Confusion (manipulate/pull string) / Quick Attack / Giga Drain (health)

(By the way, Superbird, I think you forgot Adelle's EXP bonus again. Also, your reffing scale says you round down after applying weakness/resistance, so should Giga Drain's damage have been based on its 75 base power instead of rounding down before multiplying so it's effectively 70? It's probably not important, but I'd appreciate some clarification on that point.)

Adelle’s trainer immediately began thinking of ways to get Gwen off of the bridge and back down on the island so she could continue the battle. It didn’t take long to come up with the idea, but it took a little more time to implement it. Adelle immediately set to doing that, using the weaker psychic manipulation of Confusion to get the job done. Gwen was wary, but didn’t feel herself affected by any psychic energy, and so after a while relaxed enough to call forth a swarm of biting insects to terrorize her foe. At the slow speed they flew it would take them a little while to get down there, but that was better than nothing. In the meantime, she continued to watch her foe, scarcely cognisant of her own string being attached through psychic energy to her abdomen.

Surprised she was, when Adelle rushed away, dashing towards the far edge of the island. Gwen felt pulled, and before she could react she’d lost her grip on the bridge and was flying through the air. But when she hit the ground, she bounced, and the moment she regained her footing she launched an attack. Adelle immediately felt a headache as her opponent tried to prod her brain for as much damage as she could do. After a while she let up just a little, but by then Gwen’s Infestation had caught up, and their irritations exacerbated Adelle’s exhaustion.

That was that, enough of this. Adelle was ready for it to be over, finally. And so she raised her head in pride as she ripped more familiar orbs of green energy out of her opponent, and absorbed them as they flew through the air into her body. The nourishment almost cancelled out the pain she immediately felt from a redoubled Psychic attack. But she knew she didn’t have to worry – by the time Gwen released her attack, she was panting, and despite the insects chewing up every inch of Adelle’s skin, she was still in the lead. Just hang on a little longer, and she’d be the winner of this match.

Referee Notes
~Last round’s weirdness (as Eifie specified) has been retroactively revised. The changes were miniscule enough that they don’t change much, and have been accounted for.
~Gwen’s Infestation action 1 was usable from far away as specified, but due to distance the attack took an action to travel.
~Gwen’s commands specified using psychic energy as the case for Protecting, but Adelle ended up using a physical means of doing that (via quick attack) – as a result, Gwen didn’t use Protect.

Excellent work, Adelle! Perhaps we could be friends after all!

One more Dazzling Gleam should be enough. It spreads in all directions, so it should be extremely difficult to avoid, no matter what weird tricks your foe attempts to pull off. If she's Protecting (but don't wait around to check) or you can't use Dazzling Gleam, use Future Sight if you haven't set one up already. If for some reason you're having a lot of trouble targeting her with Dazzling Gleam, go with Telekinesis to hold her in place and stop this nonsense. Your orders are the same for all three actions.

Don't screw up now, Adelle!

Dazzling Gleam / Future Sight / Telekinesis x3

You've done good work, Gwen, but unfortunately, it looks like we're backed into a corner. We have precious few priority moves that could be in any way useful, so I guess we've just got to grin and bear our fate.

...But if by some miracle you manage to survive the first Dazzling Gleam, or if by some other miracle you happen to be able to move faster than Adelle, let's try a last-ditch Rest and kill yourself via energy consumption, just to spite her. If Superbird opts to have the energy be consumed gradually over the three actions instead of all at once, I guess Chill twice afterward just because you can.

There is exactly a 0% chance this will work whatsoever, but at least it was fun typing that out and imagining a pie-in-the-sky comeback.

Good game, Eifie!
