Crazy Linoone vs Chiropter (Ref: Negrek)

That...was not supposed to happen. Grr.

Anyway. I'd like you to avoid being Thunderbolted, Tuari, so Fly up again on the first action. On the second, wait for Zigzag to start chilling, then dive down and attack. Once you're back down, use Heat Wave.

Not interested in experiencing another electrical attack, Tuari wastes no time in flying straight up, once more rising above the floating platforms and well out of the reach of his opponent. Zigzag watches him go with mixed feelings; on the one hand, she has a chance to relax and recover from the last attack he subjected her to, but on the other, she doesn't get a chance to try and finish him off. The zigzagoon lies where she has fallen, enjoying the warmth of the intensified sun overhead and the heat radiating up from the pie crust, no longer scorching, beneath her.

Tuari watches from above, waiting until he's sure that the zigzagoon has sunk deep into the trance of her chill and has no intention of attacking soon. As before, he folds in his wings and shoots down at the complacent zigzagoon below, going into a beak-first dive. Zigzag doesn't see or hear him coming and is totally unprepared as he slams into her, full force this time, with incredible momentum. The zigzagoon's eyes fly open and she lets out a pained bark as the spearow's beak rips a much deeper, more serious wound across her pelt, shocking her right out of her chill with a blast of pain. As she staggers back to her feet, Tuari wheels around, wingtips beginning to glow a fiery orange as he prepares another attack.

Beating his wings heavily, Tuari generates a powerful gust of wind, drawing on what little fire power he has and the warmth of the sky overhead to raise the temperature of the air to a positively burning level. Zigzag winces and ducks her head as the burning wave of air washes over her, searing her open wounds and setting her thick fur to smoulder. Once the heat wave has washed over her, the zigzagoon cautiously looks up, then, not quite ready to face Tuari yet, darts around to retrieve another berry from the pie to swat up to her trainer. That done, she focuses on cooking up an appropriate comeback to the heat wave. In her case, that means electricity, and loads of it; her scorched fur crackles with charge, and Tuari, still recovering from the energy expenditure for the heat wave, has no hope of avoiding the zigzagoon's attack. Forked electricity crackles through the air as Zigzag pours out a shockwave, the dense network of bolts easily catching Tuari and sending power shuddering through his small form. The bird manages to keep himself in the air, but only just; as the electricity dissipates, he's smoking nearly as much as Zigzag.

The thunderbolt is noticeably more powerful than the shock wave

Wasn’t Zigzag supposed to use Shock Wave for her third action?

Oh well. Don’t worry Tuari; I know you’re hurting, but you can still finish off Zigzag before she can get to you. Hit her with another Heat Wave, then finish her off with Quick Attack if she’s still standing after that. If she tries Protecting, just chill, and use Heat Wave and Quick Attack whenever she leaves herself open.

Almost finished! You can do it, Zig! Try to Extremespeed + Thunderbolt + Headbutt your way to victory before the bird gets you. You'll be hitting it with something like a super fast and powerful electric headbutt. Which, by my calculations, you should be able to defeat the bird with.

Extremespeed + Thunderbolt + Headbutt

You're right, and I'm sorry for the mistake. The last round has been edited accordingly, and both of you may reorder if you want, in case the changes affect your plans.

His opponent's collapse in sight, Tuari gathers fiery energy once more, hoping to make an end to this excruciating fight. Even as his wingtips start to glow a faint orange, though, Zigzag's fur is bristling with electricity. The zigzagoon darts forward with incredible speed, spraying electricity in all directions as she lowers her head and bears down on Tuari. The spearow registers this tactic--an extremespeed combined with something electric--as being familiar, but has no time to do more than that before the zigzagoon's lightning-fast rush has carried her into the air, skull aimed right for his chest.

Zigzag's combo connects in a blast of electrical discharge, hurling Tuari back to the surface of the pie as the headbutt portion of the attack knocks him away. The zigzagoon lands lightly and stares across at her opponent, who lies crumpled at the end of a trail of blackened feathers. Tuari lets out a weak caw, his talons shivering as he clutches at the air, but he falls silent quickly enough, unable to go on after the incredible combo.

Letting out a relieved sigh, Zigzag turns away from Tuari, who is just now vanishing back into his pokéball, and wanders back to her hole in the pie to retrieve another blueberry. Though clearly tired after performing the combo, she has enough pep left in her to wag her tail a bit as she goes, undoubtedly pleased with herself.

- I think that's the most energy-intensive attack I've seen used yet.
- Because Chiropter will be sending Milo out again as a matter of course, Crazy Linoone attacks first next round, followed by Chiropter's commands for the spinarak.

Nice~ High-five, uh, I mean paw! Great job there, Zig! That was some nice combo you did there.

Since you're faster than the Spinarak, let's try to get rid of it before it faints. Use a Extremely Speedy Headbutt on the spider as soon as it comes out of the Pokeball for maximum surprise and chance of flinching. Follow with another Headbutt for good measures.

If the Spinarak uses Protect on the first turn, Chill then ExtremespeedHeadbutt. If the Spinarak uses Protect on the second turn, just hang around and wait until the Protect fades, then Headbutt.* Now go get 'em!

(Extremespeed + Headbutt)/Chill ~ Headbutt/(Extremespeed + Headbutt)/nothing ~ nothing/Chill (if nothing was done during the second round)

*...Is that legal? Because technically Zigzag will only be using three moves (Extremespeed, Headbutt and Chill). The second action of doing nothing would roughly equal to ordering Zig to wait for an attack to hit (or, in this case, fail) before attacking, or "be slower than the opponent". I also realized that the more I try to explain stuff the more confusing it seems.

...guess I should've changed the commands after all.

Well, I was planning on you being able to take that hit, Tuari, but don't worry about it; you've done an excellent job softening Zigzag up for Milo to finish off. Hopefully.

Now, Milo: it'll entail you taking the first hit, but I want you to make use of your paralysis with a Facade. Protect after that, and finish off with a Giga Drain - with any luck, that should be the end of it. If you flinch or are fully paralyzed on the first action, use Facade in place of Giga Drain.

- Less than pleased to see Zigzag's face again. Paralyzed (severe).

Returning Tuari's pokéball to his belt, Chiropter replaces it with Milo's and tosses it into the arena. The spinarak that emerges is surprised, and not pleasantly so, to see Zigzag looking back at her from across the pie--she'd hoped Tuari would be able to knock out the obnoxious zigzagoon. At least the pie is no longer scalding hot, the spider reflects, although the brilliant sun overhead makes the area a bit uncomfortably warm nonetheless.

Milo hardly has the opportunity to get her bearings, though, before Zigzag vanishes in a blur of motion. An instant later something cannons into Milo's side and sends her spinning through the air, legs flailing uselessly. The spinarak crashes back to the surface of the pie and rolls over several times before coming to rest. Worse yet, the great impact hardly improves her paralysis, and much though she might like to sink her mandibles into that stupid zigzagoon's flesh to teach her a lesson, Milo finds herself quite unable to move. Her legs jerk and twitch uncontrollably, then lock in place, frozen by paralysis and leaving Milo a sitting duck in the face of Zigzag's next attack.

For the moment, though, the zigzagoon doesn't seem too intent on attacking. Instead she watches Milo intently, apparently waiting for something. Suspicious, Milo concentrates on raising a defensive shield, just in case the zigzagoon has any intention of getting another hit in while she's immobilized. Zigzag seems content to wait, however, panting lightly as she observes the spider's every move (or lack thereof). As the pair wait, the intense sunlight finally dims, and the arena suddenly feels practically chilly without its warming influence. The seconds tick past, and in the end, Milo is forced to let the protect go--it is simply too energy-intensive to leave up for a very long time. As soon as the spinarak starts testing her limbs, however, Zigzag lowers her head and charges, aiming a headbutt at a shocked Milo.

As this headbutt isn't propelled by an extremespeed, Milo has the time to curse the fact that she let her protect expire before Zigzag's head collides with her side, threatening to send her tumbling away again. The spinarak is having none of this, though, twisting around and grabbing with her numerous legs. Zigzag rears back with a startled yelp, finding a spider clinging to her face. Milo bites Zigzag's nose for extra purchase, which only causes the zigzagoon to redouble her efforts to shake the spider off. The struggle goes on for several seconds, Milo raking Zigzag's face with her claw-tipped legs and biting her muzzle with serrated mandibles while the zigzagoon does her best to dislodge her. The spinarak barely even notices the zigzagoon's struggles, though, totally engrossed in paying Zigzag back for the paralysis that's caused her so much difficulty. In fact, the spider doesn't drop off the zigzagoon's snout until exhaustion forces her to stop and take a break, at which point, Zigzag, face badly scratched and bleeding, can only stagger wearily away to retrieve another berry to give to her trainer.

Hmph. Okay, let's try this: Pursuit, then Refresh, then Pursuit again (assuming the first one doesn't take Zigzag out, of course). If she Protects or Detects on the first action, use Refresh then, and Pursuit after.

Pursuit/Refresh ~ Refresh/Pursuit ~ Pursuit

You're allliiiiiiveeee.... This is great, Zig! You managed to deal some massive damage to that annoying spider, too! Since, from my calculations, Pursuit would faint you regardless whether you switch out or not, I suppose we would have to deal as much damage as possible before you faint. So, let's take advantage of your superior speed and do a crazy combination attack again because, hey, you don't have anything left to lose.

Hm... An extremely speedy flailing body slam sounds good. After all, you get insane power, speed, not to mention a delicious slice of STAB. You will probably faint after this, so perform this attack as if you're going to die and end this round with a bang! Oh, and see if you can smash the spider into the pie for some extra damage. Now go get 'em!

Zigzag stands at the edge of her berry fishing spot, thinking over her next command. Another complex combo, and one she's not entirely sure she understands, but more importantly--it certainly does sound tiring. An extremespeed she's sure she could manage, but extremespeed plus a body slam plus some flailing around? That's a different kind of proposition entirely. While she thinks about it, Zigzag reaches out and fishes for another berry--her trainer's pocket must be growing very gooey with the things by now--to turn in for a little post-battle cash-in.

Meanwhile, Milo is creeping across the arena, cloaked in an aura of pulsing dark energy. Hampered as she is by paralysis, the spinarak isn't moving terribly fast, so it's probably fortunate that she doesn't need to actually pursue anything. With Zigzag distracted, the spider is able to creep right up behind her, then pounce, dark energy sizzling into Zigzag's fur as she bites down on one of the zigzagoon's rear legs.

Zigzag yelps and struggles for a moment, but it is a losing battle--the pain in her leg proves to be the straw that broke the camel's back, and Zigzag finally collapses unconscious to the top of the pie, her many-legged opponent doing a jerky victory dance atop her fallen body.

Final Notes
- Flail and body slam seems like a rather iffy combination to me--for one, you kind of hurl yourself on top of the target and crush them to the ground--it's an inert kind of thing. Flail, on the other hand, is just crazy lashing out in all directions. More or less a moot point, anyway, because Zigzag had nowhere near the energy left for another three-attack combo.

Now that's more like it! Excellent work, Milo; now let's see if we can't still salvage a victory.

First order of business: Refresh away that paralysis - if you're prevented from doing so on the first action, keep trying until successful. After that, try a Giga Drain, followed by Toxic.

Refresh ~ Giga Drain/Refresh ~ Toxic/Giga Drain/Refresh

Oh dear. This is going to be some trouble...

Well, Crunch, get a Sword Dance in while the spider uses refresh to boost your attack for maximum sweeping power.

Giga Drain is going to be some trouble. Let's abuse your superior speed and hit the spider with something hard before it can do any damage to you. Like Rock Slide. I know that there are no rocks around, so just hit the spider with the pie filling and whatever hard things you can find. Try to bury the spider under the filling, since the piping hot filling will do some nice damage and hopefully even blind the spider to make its attack miss.

Next, try a Surf attack using the pie filling instead of the water to bury the spider under more pie filling and send the toxic right back at it. If you can't do that, Double Team to avoid the toxic.

Zigzag is recalled in a flash of red energy, and Milo watches warily as Crazy Linoone runs a hand over the pokéballs clipped to her belt, deciding which one to send out next. The spider tenses as the trainer selects one, then tosses it to the pie below, where it bursts open and releases Crunch the totodile. The water type glances around at the battlefield, big jaws slightly agape, until his eyes settle on his insectoid opponent. The totodile lets out a gurgling warcy, baring his teeth at Milo; the spinarak replies with a soft hiss, her paralyzed condition making it difficult for her to do much more than that.

Crunch is not about to fly straight into battle with Milo, though. Instead, he takes a few seconds to warm himself up, hopping up and down and spinning in exuberant circles as he executes an ancient warrior's dance. As his muscles loosen and adrenaline floods his system, the totodile's battle focus increases and new strength courses through his limbs, preparing him for the battle ahead.

Meanwhile, Milo's first attack is also focusing on a non-aggressive attack, pouring energy into her body's natural healing systems to flush the paralysis from her muscles. A wave of tingling spreads out along her legs as muscles loosen and damaged nerve endings are repaired. After a few moments, no trace of paralysis remains, and Milo flexes her limbs with obvious relish.

Now able to move much faster without paralysis holding her back, the spinarak raises her two front legs, their clawed tips glowing green as she sends tendrils of grass energy sliding through the pie crust towards Crunch. The totodile has finished his dance and is about to start his next attack when a closter of green ropes burst up out of the pastry around him, wrapping his limbs and torso in leeching strands of pure energy. The totodile struggles against the giga drain attack, tearing through the gooey tendrils even as they sap away at his health, siphoning it back across the arena and into Milo. By the time Crunch manages to extricate himself from the attack, the spinarak is feeling pleasantly refreshed.

Growling, Crunch gathers power in one of his feet before stomping hard on the surface of the pie. A wave of rock-type energy surges through the crust in front of him, cracking it into large chunks and sending them spinning end over end at Milo, spraying pie filling in all directions as they go. The bug tries to scuttle out of the way, but pieces of pastry are crashing down all around her, and she can't dodge forever. A particularly large piece of crust slams down atop her with a crunch, and is rapidly buried beneath several smaller pieces of crust and a liberal splattering of hot pie filling.

In the aftermath of the rock slide attack, both pokémon are left struggling: Crunch to rally the filling below his feet into a wave, Milo to escape from the "rocks" on top of her. Bits of pie crust slide off the pile atop Milo, and the tips of the spinarak's legs, waving frantically, poke up into the air; meanwhile, myterious bubbling and glooping noises come from beneath Crunch's feet. The spinarak manages to drag herself out from under the pile of crust even as small fissures around Crunch start to ooze dark blue-purple syrup. Even as vile toxins swirl and combine in Milo's poison sacs, the crust below Crunch erupts in a messy fountain of pie filling. As Milo sprays a concentrated burst of highly poisonous liquid at Crunch, the totodile is lifted towards the heavens on a wave of pie filling. Much, but not all of the toxic attack spatters the filling-wave and is lost; a bit sprays over Crunch's hindquarters, though, and that is enough: the toxic burns horribly as it starts to eat through the totodile's scales and into his flesh.

Milo doesn't have much opportunity to celebrate this, though. The rising wave of filling shudders, tilts, and then flops over messily, engulfing much of the pie's center in a slowly-expanding, inch-deep layer of steaming blueberry goodness. Milo lets out a strangled hiss as the hot filling slams down atop her, gumming up her legs and leaving her struggling through the sticky mess. Crunch slides back to the surface of the pie, shifting uncomfortably from foot to foot; though he's not as bad off as Milo, with only his lower legs in the filling, its high temperature is nevertheless uncomfortable.

Terrain Notes
A large portion of the arena's center, about fifteen feet in diameter, has been coverd an inch deep in pie filling. The area around Milo is also littered with broken pieces of crust, which are now gummed over with filling. On Crunch's side of the field, large chunks of crust have been torn up, revealing the reservoir of filling below.

Final Notes
- Because there wasn't a lot of rock or water involved in either, both surf and rock slide were treated as being normal-typed.
- Rock slide was a critical hit.
- Because pie filling is a lot more viscous than water, the surf attack didn't have as much force behind it as it otherwise would. However, this effect was somewhat compensated for by an increase in damage due to the heat of the filling.
- Crazy Linoone attacks first next round.

Nicely done, Crunch! Let's continue our little barrage of attacks and see if we can get rid of the pesky spider.

I want you to use Aqua Tail downwards on the Spinarak to smash it deeper into the pie. Use your own water source to do this -- I don't want you to get burned with the pie filling. You can spit the water out of you water sack or whatever place you keep the water for Hydro Pumps and stuff. Since the spider's buried under the pie filling, it should be pretty hard for it to escape and dodge the attack. Follow up with a Rock Tomb to make a nice little tomb for the spider and bury it with more glop.

If you don't think you can locate the spider under all that goo, use Aerial Ace first to locate it and follow up with a quick Aqua Tail downwards.

When you finish, back away from the center of the pie to where the crust is os you won't get burned and chill a bit. If you can find some pie that's not poisoned, you can eat that if you want.
