E3

Totally unrelated to E3, but the original Perfect Dark is finally coming out on XBLA! Fuck yes! Old school FPS! The only kind you'll get me to play, btw.

Seems to me Nintendo listened to their fans, and we now have more Mario (and a little Zelda and Metroid) than we know what to do with

V and VI remakes will happen. Just wait a bit.

Right now, the only thing that's turning me on about XIV is the supposed free online play.

I'm liking the new Resident Evil stuff. For one thing, Steve doesn't sound like a nasally brat anymore! *Woot!* And the gameplay for Darkside Chronicles looks awesome! *Although Alexia's voice is starting to creep me out...I keep getting this mental image of a 12 year old beating Claire to death with a beaker filled with a fizzing liquid and ants...*

Metroid-Hell to the yes!

Mario- See above.

I'm actually looking forward to the Code Veronica scenario of Darkside Chronicles. Because if anything, it won't be repetitive, and have unnecessary amounts of backtracking with regenerating enemies. Seriously that just made my zombie-dodging in that game so much more difficult. I'm surprised I even managed to beat it. RE2 will always be my favorite Resident Evil, which is why I'm really looking forward to the RE2 scenario. Mr. X looks fucking BA in the trailer, and scarier too.

Yah! I've actually never played RE 2 or C:V...I've actually only played Umbrella Chronicles, Five and Four. I've only watched the others online...But Darkside looks amazing! I can't wait to see what other scenarios they put in! *I've heard something about Leon and Krauser in South America...*

Yeah, the new scenario is supposed to be what happened during Code Veronica, with Leon and Krauser. I'd actually like to see them put in one of the Outbreak scenarios. Both Outbreak games were so mediocre, especially since online gaming wasn't as widespread as it is now, but if they remade them for the Xbox 360 and/or PS3, or made new ones, I'm sure they'd be awesome. That, and the ability to actually play offline.

Really? You've only played those? Umbrella Chronicles was awesome, but I can't say the same about 5 and 4... 4 I actually enjoyed, especially its Wii edition, but I just loathe 5. Mainly because it's essentially "Resident Gear Solid", and ripping off of the whole premise and feel of MGS4. If they came out with an RE5 Wii Edition, I might think about playing it multiple times though.

You're really missing out if you've only played those though. You should try to get your hands on the Gamecube REmake, and the Gamecube ports of RE2 and RE3. RE2 and REmake are definitely the best in the series; REmake for how atmospheric it is, and it's... Well, scary. RE2 for its replayability, bosses, and Mr. X. Both for the fairly decent story. Code Veronica was just horrible in everything it did except story, mainly because it had unnecessary back-tracking, and re-spawning enemies... But it's still good to play, if only for the story.

Was I the only one to be all HOLYSHITADAM HEEEEAART <3 during the trailer? That was a NICE touch really - seems only a few people out of every group get it.
That said, Metroid: OM is the only release to have caught my eye. And I'm a little trepidatious yet - with all the fancy flipping animations is feels as if they're taking too much control out of the players hand. Many games featuring that sort of gameplay end up being grinds, and as you watch yourself flip over the 9001st giant enemy crab and PRESS B TO NOT DIE'ing it's a little beyond old and repetitive no matter how neat it was the first time. It's really not a playstyle I associate with Metroid, so I'm not holding my breath yet. I just may have to shatter a few skulls if they muck up Metroid now too. ~.^ *Writhing fangirl hiss*

Well, remember that Metroid: OM is being developed by Team Ninja, a fine studio, but the only achievement I think of when I think of them is Dead or Alive, which explains the crazy flipping animations and such.

All-in-all, I must give it a try sometime, but I'm not going to be horribly surprised if it feels off, since I can just chalk it up to the wrong studio developing it.

I count 2....3 memes there. Wow.

All I care about is God of War III.

EDIT: Project Natal is FUCKING AWESOME. Now if only Sony would develop their own. Imagine how Tekken would work.

So you wouldn't want Metroid style exploration mixed with Devil May Cry/Ninja Gaiden combat?

Not a fan of Ninja Gaiden? Ninja Gaiden doesn't have any of that press one button to live crap. It's Devil May Cry on crack, to anyone that have played and compared the two; unlike God of War, you actually have to try to live, especially when playing on the higher difficulties; one fuck up and you're dead. One of the reasons I liked Devil May Cry is that the purpose is to mix in different moves into your combos for more damage, and do this to 5 or 6 enemies while avoiding damage, something DMC3 did REALLY nicely, adding in some of the ridiculous difficulty Capcom's always known for.

I wouldn't be surprised if OM came out to be a mixture of exploration based gameplay with some of the Stylish Action genre.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again though; I'm expecting some sort of extreme difficulty in Other M, since it's being developed by Team Ninja. Only disappointment is that Itagaki won't be around to oversee its development.

Metroid aside, I'm really looking forward to the new Castlevania, Lord of Shadows. It's not being developed by IGA, like every game up to this has been, but Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions are developing it with MercurySteam. If Kojima can mix his amazing storytelling abilities with the epic storyline of a Castlevania, I'm sure this one will kick ass.

Although the trailer turned me off a bit because it looks like plays just like God of War... And I hate God of War.

I'm goin' to go kill myself for forgetting Ninja Gaiden, never owned a copy. Mind you, it was almost 1 AM when I made that post and I was in the middle of playing a game.

Haha, it's cool. Being tired does that to you. You should try and get your hands on a copy though. Although if you have a PS3, obviously it'd be easier to just get Sigma. I still have yet to play Ninja Gaiden 2 though, but Dragon Sword was awesome!
