Uh, I didn't do it.
So it's confirmed, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-il has died at the age of 69. And Kim Jong-un is set to follow the dictator's footsteps.

What does this mean for North Korea? For the world?
 
For North Korea it probably means nothing. Their regime is like a monarchy except with communist traits. Everybody is equal - in poverty and famine. That won't change with Kim's son. North Korea's form of communism is so far from Marx's original concept that to call it a communist country is an offense to Marx.

For the world, it's best to wait what his son's directives will be, though it's very unlikely that he's going to take a different direction in the country's politics at all.

Regarding country instability, as with heavily militarised countries, it will depend on who the military is loyal to, and they should be able to easily dispatch rebels.

On a totally different note, 19 December is the birthday of the president of South Korea.

'Bout time another tyrant bites the dust. To be honest, I will not pass judgment until this guy starts his reign. Who knows, maybe he'll be a good ruler.

Er, since when is disease not a natural cause? And I believe his date of birth was not known exactly.

Did anyone else notice that Gadhafi, bin Laden, and now Kim Jong-il have all died within a year?

Why are you including bin Laden? He has little in common with the other two. And even then, Qaddafi died during a revolt that brought down his dictatorship. Kim Jong-il died of natural causes and will presumably be succeeded by his son.
 
Well, they're two dictators and a terrorist. They weren't very good people. And iirc, they were all in charge of something at one point that most of the world was unhappy with (two dictatorships, a terrorist organization)
