Open Land of Twilight

Sylph

Take me to Wonderland
Myths, Fairy Tales, and Legends are powerful things, their magic seeping into the nooks and crannies of everyday life.

But what most people don't know is that there is a place where these powerful forces exist. The residents call it the 'Land of Twilight', a place that can only be entered from the Land of Reality at the time of twilight. This is the place that all of the magical tales come from. It is much like our world, how it was back then. Tiny villages, castles, dragons, and more are here. It is truly paradise.

Or was. The Wicked Witch of the Enchanted Forest has taken it upon herself to warp the Land of Twilight into the place that she thinks it should be. Her dark magic is spreading over the land, corrupting the residents and turning the magic into her own dark breed. She wants things back to the way they should be - Grimm's Tales.

She has amassed powerful forces, and it is up to those who are not corrupted to destroy her and her army. Or you could join her side and help her warp the Land of Twilight...

The Witch links her fingers together, gazing into her enchanted mirror to overlook her domain. A smile appears on her face as she sees the people act according her her plan and design. The dragons kidnapping princesses and eating them, evil men tricking the young maidens into their beds, and finally the small stupid children that wonder off the path in forests to be eaten by wolves. She unlinks her fingers and scratches the ear of her Tailypo, her other hand resting on the head of the cat curled around her shoulders.

"My dears. All seems to be well in my new world order."

She continues to watch her world through the mirror, when the image became fuzzy and disjointed. She waves her hand to clear it with no success.

"What the hell...?"

Through the fuzzy image, a shadow appears with an outstretched hand. The witch sinks deeper into her seat as she watches the figure reach out it's hand and begin to spell a sentence of the inside of the mirror. She lets out a snarl once the figure disappears, leaving the message behind.

You have not won, Ming

"Well well well...seems there is trouble in my realm..."

She turns her head and looks to the cat on her shoulder.

"I think we shall monitor their progress...I doubt they will be any threat to me"

She then glances into the dark corners of her home, a sly grin on her face.

"Isn't that right, my friends?"

--------------------------------------(Scene Change)

"....I think that will shake her a bit"

Deep in a forest, a tall thin man moves away from a full length mirror, pulling his hood off from his head to reveal a long length of shoulder length red hair. He lets out a sigh and runs his fingers through his hair, his deep green eyes shining with worry and foreboding. He looks around at the small shack he lives in and scans it's dull wood floors and creaky walls. He then glances out of the window and sees that dawn was to break. He smile a tried smile and walks to the door, pulling his hood back over his head and grabbing his staff on his way out. He stops in front of his house and sits on the stump that stood outside his temporary home.

"They should be arriving here soon"

Tailypo cooed as his head was petted, pressing the top of his skull against his mistress's thin hand. Get them kill them take back our tailypo, yessss... a voice inside him hissed, and the bloody stump of a tail behind his black furred body wagged. He smiled, showing large and pointy rows of needle teeth. Sharp claws scratched the floor in excitement. He would get back his tailypo, mistress said it would be so. His precious tailypo. The nasty things who wanted to stop mistress had it, they did. They would pay, pay, pay.

Around the Witch's neck, Alphonse the cat lounged happily, his glossy brown-furred body contorting gracefully so he resembled a dead animal's pelt curled luxuriously about her next. Her purred.

Another fantastic day without a home.
The hunters were dead, but the guards remained.
Chances were that the Witch's dragons and wicked men would be after her human form soon.

Was this what Chimani's life had become? A life on the lamb, running simply because of the intentions of one sick, twisted and probably ugly woman? Either way she'd be a target. A fair maiden or a nine-tailed white fox. Both were easily noticeable. The humans would often notice were she to take possession of a human too.

"The hell is this... What have I done? Because I'm unaffected by the Twilight, I'm a target? Not fair, not fair, not fair... What happened to the thousand years' peace this land had observed? I'll kill her... Kill her kill her kill her..." No, that sounded stupid. Of course she wouldn't be able to kill her. Not if it really was her that was making the Twilight spread. A tail twitched. She was getting anxious now.

Renata blew a puff of smoke, glaring at the injured deer in front of her. How many bites would it take..? Scooping in up in her jaw, the deer yelped quietly, and Renata crushed it in two bites. She blew a burst of fire to clean her teeth.

"Might as well get going," she mumbled to herself, and flew into the air.

Rui trotted lightly through the woods, her hooves making no sound, even though she was walking on dead leaves. She was starting to get nervous.. she heard something following her, leaves crunching loudly under it's feet. It wouldn't be very nice to tell whatever-it-was to go away, but maybe it was a wolf or something. She looked around and nearly jumped out of her skin. Another Kilin? It looked just like her. That was strange..
Doing something resembling a shrug, she suddenly bolted towards a nearby river. The tiny creature slowed down and walked over the top of the water, following its path through the trees. About ten seconds later, there was a splash. Maybe it wasn't, after all..
She giggled and kept walking.

The man glances back at the raising sun, wondering when the ones that were to aide him were arriving. He then stands up from the stump he sat on and lifts his staff off the ground.

"Maybe they can't find this place...Then I'll give them a sign to where they are to go."

With a single word, a short burst of white flames erupt into the are in the form of a dragon curled around a fox.

He looks up at his mark and smiles a little. This was his mark as a Wizard, not well known, but it was his.

"This should get their attention"

A little further on, Rui could see a flash of light forming the shape of what appeared to be a dragon. She eagerly started to run in that direction.
Several minutes later, the small creature stepped out from between the trees, towards a small house and a human. She approached shyly, afraid that he wouldn't want to be bothered. She stopped suddenly, with a yelp. Right in front of her, doing the same thing, was.. herself? The creature was identical, except it was dripping wet. Was it the same Kirin that she'd seen before? It looked back at her and seemed to laugh, then melted into the shadows.. literally.

Eirian had been running. However, it was hard to spot her - given that she was running in the sky. And to make sure that she wasn't too out of place, her usual white halo had, with some difficulty, shaped itself into two elegant wings. So there. The white, glowing thing in the sky was obviously a bird. What else could it be? She was rather too preoccupied to stretch the glow into a tail as well, as an inner debate was going on. This was without orders. The Hunter had said nothing of this. She was of his pack, rather than one of the lesser ones that staged the Wild Hunt by themselves, with no ghostly horseman to lead them. She was the eldest. And yet... was this betrayal, leaving him like this?

The Cwn Annwn did not like it when she was torn like this. This evil power was a threat to the Hunt, a threat to Annwn, and a threat to her leader. She was compelled to take care of it... A flare of white from the ground drew her attention. What was this? In the shape of a dragon, curled around something. A signal? Best to at least examine it more closely. Crimson ears laid back against her skull, she began to descend from her path in the sky. She would try to avoid thinking of her conflicting duties for now.

A flare in the sky... Chimani growled. She'd heard rumors of a wizard... one who was fighting against the Witch. This could be him. On the other hand, it was in the shape of a dragon coiled around a fox. Had they found her? Was this a symbol of death?

What was it?

Her instincts told her to trust it, so that's what she did. She ran in the direction it had come from.

------

A few minutes of running later, Chimani came across an old house, a human, and two Kili- no, one had disappeared. A bit odd, but... no, the Kilin were supposed to be good creatures. But what about the human? Her ears flattened against her head. What to do?

Renata looked ahead at the sky, and almost stopped in mid-air, with a screech. There was a shape in the air, like her.. a dragon around a fox. She scented for the origin, looking down. A small house, was this the place? Renata spiraled and landed in front of it.
"You called," she stated to the man outside.

Zeta lifted himself from the tree branch, gliding smoothly over the tops of the foliage. His glowing red eyes scanned the clearing below, and were raised to watch where he was going.

And then, there was fire. It took the shape of a dragon and a fox.

Zeta liked fire. Someone must be beckoning him or something. Swiftly he angled his wings and swooped down, landing about ten feet from a man who was standing directly under the flames.

The man smiles broadly when creatures came to his call. He stabs the earth with his staff so it wouldn't fall when he let of if. At first he went to welcome a Kirin creature, when it melted into the shadows. He chuckles a little at the odd creature and turns to the other Kirin. He then notices that there was a fox standing at the edge of the clearing. Looking up at his symbol, he shakes his head with a amuused smile.

"The dragon isn't captureing the Fox. It is the Fox's ally and brother...if you were wondering, my dear Kitsune"

Then, from the heavens, a dragon landed near his home, asking if he has called her. He nods at the noble creature and smiles at her, his green eyes flickering with inner joy. He takes a step toward the dragon, when another creature lands in front of him at a mere ten feet. The man lets out a amused laugh and folds his arms over his chest.

"Welcome to my home...I pray that you found it without trouble."

He walks back to his staff that still sticked out of the ground and sits on the stump next to it, his hand wraping around the staff.

"If you are wonderign why I've called...I am asking for a favor of you gentle creatures of the land of myths. A darkness has fallen over this land, twisting everything into a horror counterpart of our lives. I pray that you all will aid me in my endevour to stop this curse over our land and bring about peace."

He then lowers his hood, his blood red hair spilling over his shoulders.

"I am the Wizard that lives in this forest. My name is Kitsune Ryuu, or 'Fox Dragon' if you perfer the meaning of my name. I pray that you will help me stop the Witch and end her spell over this land"

(NOTE TO BAD GUYS: You are all in the Witch's house. That's why she spoke to the dark of her home. You can post you know, if you want.)

Renata snickered at 'gentle creatures'.

"Well then, Kitsune.. I am the Lady of the Land." Renata looked away, up at the sky. "But a long time ago, I was Renata... Call me either." She folded her wings, and paused.

Zeta stood, digging his talons into the ground. He liked darkness, but had a feeling that this kind wasn't so good.

"You can call me Zeta," he told Kitsune, bowing his head slightly, as if to scrape his large beak over the ground and create a pattern.

Abraxas lumbered up to Kitsune and spoke in his deep, raspy voice.

"I am Abraxas. Some of my people told me of you. They referred to you only as Lord Fox, for my people are not fond of surnames."

Kit turns and faces Abraxas, nodding at his address.

"Seems I'm well known in this land then. I'm quite flattered to say the least. I do hope though that the Witch hasn't heard of my name yet...only the gods know what would happen if she did know"

Kit then turns to the sky and notices a odd dog flying in the air, descending toward him home. He waits to see if the dog is friendly or not before addressing it.

This may prove to be interesting...

Eirian had landed not too far away from the signal, but not too close either - she didn't want to be seen descending. Still, when she emerged from the trees, she hardly expected to see the crowd that was there. A kitsune, a large scaled bull of some sort, something that looked like an owl... A kilin as well, if she judged correctly. And, not least, a dragon. Even if she was used more to Annwn's motley collection, rather than the creatures here, she would always recognize a dragon. They were just so distinctive. And of course, the one who the others seemed to be paying attention to - a robed man with red hair. Interesting. Were they the pawns of the threat, or those who wished to stop it?

She considered lurking for a moment longer, but then decided against it. Moving with the lack of sound that was characteristic for something that didn't belong on the ground, the Cwn Annwn stepped into view. She stayed silent, studying the red-haired one. If he had been the one to create the dragon and fox signal, he was the one to watch. The others did not matter unless they attacked her.

Kit chuckles under his breath when he saw the dog land on the ground and try to creep over toward them. He senses that it was watching him closely from the trees. He lifts his hand and beckons it over.

"A new arrival from the sky, would you like to join us?"

A light humour plays in his eyes. He finds the dog's attempt quite funny.

"Now...what would be your name?"

"Wait up!" Ayame yelled, rushing to catch up to her sister.

If she was alone, she would probably be found and killed. And she wouldn't be able to keep her sister safe.

"Please let us survive this." she sighed.

"Ayame..." Chimani muttered, before glancing up at Kitsune, then stepping into the open. She had been sighted anyway, so it did not matter now if what the man said was true.

"My name is Chimani. And this is my sister." she started off. Ayame could finish introducing herself. Chimani however, simply picked a spot on the ground and sat, tilting her head at the man.
