• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

My slightly delayed introduction

Yeah, this isn't actually my first post in the forum, as you've probably noticed from my postcount. I just found it easier to post in existing threads first.

To begin with: I'm a 20-year-old college student studying computer science. I'd wanted to go into game design as a kid, but lately I've gotten more interested in computer programming for things such as robotics and navigation systems.

I'm actually doing an internship this summer. Bad news is I'm not getting paid, I'm working for a company that does databases (which is pretty much the most boring, tedious kind of programming out there), and I get stuck with the most boring and tedious jobs because I lack experience. Gotta take what I can get in this economy, though.

Anyway, as for why I'm on a Pokemon forum...my most recent Pokemon game was SoulSilver, which I got around the time it came out. I hadn't originally planned on getting it, but after seeing that some of my friends (who are about my age) had gotten it, and remembering my nostalgia for the Gen II games, I thought "What the hell, why not." Long story short, I played it, and I enjoyed it. I never really got a sense of the tactics involved in the early Pokemon games, but now that I'm older - and a strategy game lover - I have a new appreciation for them.

Okay, yeah, I didn't get Black or White, and I haven't actually touched SoulSilver in months. But at any rate, I still think I'm familiar enough with Pokemon to be here, this seems like a welcoming community, and I need a distraction from the fact that one of my close friendships is on the verge of collapse.

Okay, I realize that's one of the longest introductions here, but hopefully you at least kind of know who I am.

Well, uh, nobody's said hi yet which is weird, so, hi. I'm glad there's somebody else who finds Johto to be awesome and nostalgic. If you like forum games and such, I'd have to recommend...the Safari Zone and the Forum Games section, as well as checking some of the cool stuff out in the Art sections. I'll leave the memes to my brethren. Welcome and I hope you enjoy your time here!

I feel like I have too. Ok, memes... teacodwelcomematseatlegsdonotbringinsugarfoamswordsasbmafiaseriousstuffrandomsniper
I think I got them all.

Welcome to TCoD.

'lo there, Starship Trooper (Yes fan?) and welcome to TCoD!

If you're into strategy games I recommend the ASB; it's highly enjoyable.

Welcome to TCoD.

Shame, shame. No longer warning people about Invisichomp, huh?

Anyways, welcome to TCoD, Starship Trooper :3
Do you want to be called Starship Trooper all the time, or is there a nickname that you'd rather we use? Moving on, feel free to check out the Roleplaying and Writing sections, we could always use a few more people. ^.^

Aaaaand...

Thanks to everyone who responded to this!

I do not know what all of your crazy memes are referring to =P I get the feeling I will soon enough, though.

I'll have to look into the writing and art sections. I do some amateur writing and pixel art myself, although I'm still not very good at either yet.

I actually got into Starship Troopers (the movie, not the original novel) only recently, and ended up basing my name on it because it was on my mind at the time. I haven't actually been able to watch the movie yet, though.

I don't have a problem with nicknames, since my username is kind of long itself. Call me whatever you want, as long as it's not insulting.

And to be honest, I actually probably won't be participating in ASB. If anyone else here plays Advance Wars: Days of Ruin though, I'd be interested in exchanging friend codes...

Shame, shame. No longer warning people about Invisichomp, huh?

I /still/ haven't found him. I wonder where he could beAARGHH.

....

Anyway, Welcome to TCoD! I'm Blade, and may I direct you to Anime Style Battling? It's probably one of the best examples of strategy-based play, even a little bit more so than the actual pokemon games.

Hmm, computer engineering? I'm still in high school, but game design is one of the things I'd like to do, so I may be going in to a similar field. (either that or astrophysics.) I really don't know yet.

Hmm, strayed a bit off-topic, I guess. Well, Enjoy your stay!

Oh, invisichomp? I caught him ages ago. Then I think I dumped him in the back of Blade Caverns while you weren't looking.

...Anyway, mister trooper sir, I am Superbird. I'm the resident [mostly] not-a-lunatic and also the main flying-type enthusiast. Glad to have you aboard, friend!

And check out ASB. Or I'll go let Invisichomp out.

Some of those memes are old. Mainly the welcome mats.

The welcome mats are just that, they're welcome mats, but they are carnivorous and will bite your.... limbs off. Pretty nasty.

We tried training them to be nice, but they ended up becoming sugar addicted and if you have sugar on you you will lose a limb.

Invisichomp I think was defeated with the foam swords, I think they got to be too much for poor Chompy.

EDIT: I believe the welcome mats were originally a club weren't they? Back on like IF?

Um...no comment. Come to my page for tea and cod! And other goodies, like cookies!
