• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

[Open] State Of Bliss [OOC + Signups]

Okay, everyone so far is in the clear, but Kusa pointed out something for me - I forgot the Anchor Bios! So if you guys could fill them in, it'd be great. Thanks.

Wow, I just realized how popular being a pilot is. Apparently you've reached your limit FMC.

((Oh cool, I re-read the intro and I'm sort of a father figure! Yay for me!))

Name: Lindsay Carey
Age: 15
Gender: Male

Pilot: whoever wants to be hated. or try to ~heal his soul~ and in so doing create the deepest, most meaningful bond in the RP
[and the sucker winner is... Flareth, with Godot the haunter]

Appearance: Lindsay, despite only being an anchor, has kept himself in prime fighting form. He eats right, exercises regularly, and practises some mash-up of several martial arts and using his weapons. He's got enough scars for it to look necessary, too, with a couple of burns and scratches on his limbs and torso. That's because he does fight - with the pilots. Since they've got natural... advantages... he needs every bit of the compact muscle all over his body.

However, fitness doesn't necessarily mean going outside, and he hardly ever does. As such, he is as pale as his skin tone allows. He has bright green eyes the colour of an algal bloom, often hidden behind slightly shaded safety glasses. His short, dark red hair, the colour of rusted iron, looks as though it was hacked off with a knife.

That may not be an entirely unfounded conclusion, either, because Lindsay carries a hunting knife on a stolen police officer's belt, along with an empty gun, nightstick, and a couple of pouches that might've held a radio and bullets if he had them, and instead often hold some form of quick snack. They were, naturally, stolen off a Blissed cop some time ago.

He wears a worn t-shirt and jeans, and he goes around in sandals despite the respectable risk of a rhyhorn stepping on his foot, since even armoured boots won't help then.

Personality: Every anchor-pilot relationship Lindsay forms is forged from mutual dislike. He acts bitter and overly critical to everyone else, making sure there's always that distance between them.

It's fairly effective. Hate-based relationships can reach Intimacy 4 far more quickly than those based on trust. Hell, even Intimacy 5 is achievable, but Lindsay's not exactly comfortable with that. He provokes the pilot enough and eventually they'll come to blows, and then that's a powerful attack at the pilot's disposal. And hatred can be as powerful a driving force as the need to protect.

Since he can be a lot nicer to other anchors, although still a bit too angsty and depressed to really connect with, it can come off as anti-pokemon discrimination. It's not. And Lindsay isn't just naturally an unpleasant person - it's just easier this way. See, pilots have an unfortunate tendency to die a lot earlier than their anchors, and while it's great for the pilot because the pilot can let itself feel passion without limit, it hurts when you're the anchor and everything's on you and they die or Bliss anyway. Many anchors, less experienced than he is, might not know that yet, but he does. He can put the resistance effort as a whole before his concern for the mental well-being of everyone else, he can't do the same with himself.

But no matter how well he fosters the hatred between himself and the pilot, Lindsay pays very close attention to the ANIMa displays. It's rather necessary if he's going to insult them at every turn or scoff at how worthless they are, of course. Making sure they get out as soon as necessary is just a side-effect. He may, however, pretend he's abandoned his pilot, to ensure the proper relationship is developed.

Of course, there's really nothing wrong with the pilot trusting and loving him because he's not about to die or Bliss before the pilot. It's just that there's too much of a risk that the feeling will become mutual. They're going to die anyway, so Lindsay is just looking out for his own feelings.

It's a shame that all of the certified therapists Blissed, isn't it?

Biography: Lindsay doesn't remember a time before Deoxys came along, although vaguely he might think that his parents were in law enforcement. It makes sense, because it would explain his older brother Alwin's drive to get rid of the Bliss. Maybe one of them was in psychology, too - Alwin was good at that. In any case, Alwin defines most of Lindsay's youth, ever since the Bliss struck seven years ago.

When Alwin joined the resistance effort six years ago, Lindsay was just eleven, not old enough to become a pilot. He got to see Alwin seamlessly create relationships with many pilots, causing them all to trust him deeply. However, Alwin didn't care quite as much about them; he just said the right things and was an excellent actor. Secretly, he told Lindsay that he made sure he didn't really feel too much, so it wouldn't hurt if they died or Blissed. It only mattered that the pilot's feelings for Alwin were real, and he was good at making sure of that.

As soon as Lindsay was old enough, he volunteered to become an anchor too. His first pilot was a meowth with no coin, and Lindsay grew deeply attached with her despite Alwin's warnings to make sure the feelings were just pretend. Infelinal, as she was called, had a powerful zap cannon through Lindsay, and they loved using the move close-up. But she died, eventually, and everyone seemed to hate Lindsay while he was still reeling... and way too soon, he was given an arbok named Fangore. Fangore managed to worm his way into Lindsay's heart through the grief, and sludge bomb was an excellent move, but everyone neglected to mention Fangore was old. All too soon, Fangore Blissed completely out of nowhere.

Lindsay had forgotten that humans aged too, apparently, because within a week, Alwin had Blissed too.

Absolutely devastated and lost, Lindsay vowed never to truly love anyone again, even if it made him a bad anchor... but he found a way for it not to make him an ineffective anchor, because he found the relationships didn't have to be positive. That was great, and it worked well with Richard, a combusken, although they got into several fights, and when Richard Blissed, the scarred charmander Sideburn that came later.

Once Sideburn Blissed on the verge of a second evolution, Lindsay was reprimanded and given a fifth pokemon, which he was determined from the beginning to hate.

Other: Probably not going to get to Intimacy 5 with anyone, but getting to Intimacy 4 won't be hard! ... anyone?

haha someone took him willingly

I mean, sure, Flareth. At level three we've gotten into at least one verbal argument, then. oh dear the physical fight might be difficult

Bleh, another thing I forgot.

For each relationship, pick one move you can use. Bred, TM, anything. List 'em in the form. Use mine as an example.

Level 1 is 50% power
Level 2 is 70% power
Level 3 is 90% power
Level 4 is 100% power
Level 5 is 120% power, 1.1x accuracy

Name: Marik
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Pilot: Zora, if she wants me.~

Appearance: Somewhat pale and thin, Marik has brown hair, shockingly blue eyes, and a pair of glasses. He has a little bit of an acne problem. He generally wears dark colors and sandals.

Personality: Marik is careful and generally unsure about things. He has problems making decisions, but tries to help when he can. He just wants the aliens to leave, so his parents can wake up. Sarcastic and dark at times, but normally tolerant. Marik is dedicated, if reluctant to be on the front lines.

Biography: Marik woke one day to find his parents asleep. This seemed normal to him, so he returned to his room.

Several hours later, however, Marik returned to their bed, trying to wake them up. They wouldn't, of course. He tried to call the police, but he couldn't reach them. The T.V. didn't work. Marik had no idea what was going on. No idea that the world he knew was crumbling around his ears.

Wandering the streets for a time, Marik eventually stumbled upon the resistance, and joined the cause. He's since been teamed up with Laia.

Other: I kind of forgot about this. Sorry it took so long.

If possible, I'll reserve an anchor. I need to write up my form, and that'll take a moment.

Actually, probably later this afternoon.

Name: Cleopatra (called Cleo sometimes)

Species: Espeon

Gender: Female

Level: 24

Anchor: Erindor the Espeon

Appearance: Well... she looks like an Espeon. She's a bit on the small side, mostly due to her young age. But there's nothing really unusual about her.

Personality: Cleo is usually shy and doesn't like to interact with strangers that much. She will answer them if they ask her a question, but really nothing else. She is very proud, though, and tends to talk back when she feels insulted. She can be a bit of a sas during those times. She is also very curious, and when she sees something interesting, she just has to investigate it. This has led to her hoarding on a relatively minor scale; she can't resist bringing home the especially intruiging trinkets she finds.

Biography: Cleo was, like so many of the other unsuspecting pilots, born and raised normally, with her parents and three brothers. She spent most of her time playing with them, slowly yet steadily raising her levels and growing stronger, never once imagining life without them.

One day, in the height of her first summer, she was following a Beautifly. She had never seen one before, although her parents had told her stories about the Beautifly that came each summer to mate before dying. She followed it out of the forest and into a meadow, where hundreds of them were fluttering around in the shimmering dust that their wings produced with every flap. Feeling happy, she evolved into an Espeon, and returned to her family.

She had been the first to evolve out of her siblings, and her brothers, somewhat mortified that their little sister had beaten them to it, began to try evolving for themselves. The oldest became a Leafeon, the second-oldest an Umbreon, and the second-youngest a Vaporeon. They enjoyed testing out their newly-found powers on one another. Her brothers were more competitive, and gained levels faster, but Cleo eventually grew a bit weary and began exploring instead, fortunately for her.

One day, she woke up, and none of the others would. She found them still breathing, but lying so still that they could've been dead. After trying to wake them unsucessfully, she set out on her own, determined to find the cause. She heard that all the adults had fallen into a nightmare because of Deoxys, and that there was a resistance being set up by Jirachi. She quickly joined up as a pilot.

Relationships: Skazz (Erindor)~Anchor~Level 4~Psychic * Vapor~Level 1~Psybeam * Shana~Level 1~Swift * Kira~Level 1~Quick Attack * Blur~Level 1~Body Slam * Godot~Level 1~Dream Eater * Lindsay~Level 1~Signal Beam * Naxalge~Level 1~Zen Headbutt * Laia~Level 1~Dig * Marik~Level 1~Facade * Karae~Level 1~Shadow Ball * Paul~Level 1~Iron Tail * Arthur~Level 1~Zap Cannon (ask if you want to add on)

Other: Yes I did an Espeon on purpose :P
This would be so much cooler if one of her brothers had been, I dunno, just under level 35 and was just in a normal sleep, and also joined up or was a bystander, unknown by Cleo <3

By the way, on Intimacy Level 4, what does 'Exchange Blood' mean? Is it, like, a blood transfusion?
