Arena: Asteroid Belt

Team Galactic, when they aren't trying to recreate the universe, really do focus on developing cosmic energy-- ie, solar power, space travel, etc. It was Cyrus that turned them evil, but never mind that. They also did research on the effects of space travel on Pokemon, and one of the results of this is the Asteroid Belt arena.

The arena is zero-G, and scattered around it are miniature asteroids ranging from two to five feet in length. It's huge, about the size of a gymnasium, with the walls, floor, and ceiling all painted pitch-black, with little lights set in them in order to represent the stars. It can be highly disorienting to some Pokemon, although that depends on the species. Flying-types, water-types, and Pokemon with Levitate will be able to move around more easily than land-based Pokemon.

The lack of gravity has some peculiar effects on attacks, too. Since it can be difficult to aim while drifting around, any given attack is 10% more likely to miss, but that can vary depending of course on how close the Pokemon are at the time. Also, fire-type attacks will look different and may be tougher to aim. Note that the arena is NOT a vacuum: it's filled with perfectly breathable air. It's also a little dark, so Pokemon who are better at seeing at night have an advantage.

The RE-MA are small pods placed on whatever limbs the pokemon in question uses to move, and enhance the muscles in those areas, making the pokemon quicker and, in effect, giving it an automatic boost of one level to their speed and evasion. These boosts apply mostly like normal ones, although they cannot be altered or stolen due to the mechanical nature of the pods. The pokemon's stats can still be decreased to the normal minimum by stat down moves, and they cannot reach above six levels.
Effect: Automatic +1 boost to speed and evasion, and apply like normal stat boosts but cannot be outright stolen or swapped.

Sarae was born in captivity to an illegal Pokemon breeder, and was labeled as a breeding female. In order to prevent her from hurting her fellows, the tips of her horns were clipped and capped with a blunt metal tip. But Sarae was smart, and she wasn't planning to stay trapped in the breeder's prison forever, so she learned to adapt so she could fight without her horns. So she trained her legs, practicing by running around the enclosure area and kicking the wall and toys and probably her littermates, too. Through all the training, her legs grew extremely well-muscled, as well as being slightly longer than those of most Sheebit. When the Union came to liberate her, she took off like a bullet the moment a hole was torn in a wall, her superior legs making her speedy, and she fought off the enemy with kicks.

Because of her blunted horns, slashing, goring, scratching, or stabbing attacks have their power reduced sharply-- by half at least. Attacks that are reduced are Slash, Horn Attack, and any attempt to scratch. She also cannot use horn drill.

Because of her extra-strong legs, however, every attack she uses that involves kicking (Double Kick, Low Kick, Mega Kick, etc.) has an additional 10 base power before all other calculations. She also has a permanent +1 speed.

[Danver] Rotom (-)
Body mod: Phone Forme

Danver has, among the multiple appliances it can possess, a cell phone in addition to the rest. When in Phone Forme, it is able to utilize its signature move. Additionally, due to the lightweight and small nature of the phone, it starts the match one level of evasion higher. However, physical attacks do 2% more to it after calculations.

Signature move: Phone Call

Danver functions as the Union's communications device. He can instantaneously contact via phone call any of the other Union members stationed at the barracks, and shortly afterward they will arrive to help him out in battle, and then return to home base. If the arena is located somewhere distant, then teleportation is provided courtesy of Phanel. (This still takes the same amount of time as traveling by foot.) If it's a double battle, then obviously the Union member(s) fighting alongside Danver cannot be called upon. Previously defeated Pokemon from the same battle can be called, however. This attack can only be used while Danver is in Phone Forme.

Type: Normal/Varies / Damage Type: Varies / Base Damage: Varies / Target: Self/1 Foe/All / Energy: 8% / Accuracy: 90% / Effects: Summons a random union member two actions after the call is made, similar to Future Sight. Phanel (Psychic)
Sarae (Earthquake)

Rotom (X) (Levitate)

Danver shall assume its phone Forme, of which I (Involuntary Twitch) shall have a sprite for quite soon.

In that case, I'll counter with Phazon, my Weavile.

First of all, I don't like the look of all those support moves, so go ahead and use Taunt; I doubt the gravity or the phone's small size will be an impediment if you just be loud. If Danver protects, Calm Mind instead. Next action, Taunt it if you haven't done so already; otherwise, use Faint Attack, and try to use it to dodge any attack coming at you, if you can. If it protects, Calm Mind. Finally, Faint Attack again, trying to dodge attacks if possible; if Danver is going to use an Electric attack, use Foresight so we don't have to deal with all of those annoying things like that sig move or his immunities. Calm Mind if he protects, like usual.

Your opponent will probably be a bit whacked out by the lack of gravity, but with your levitate, it shouldn't bother you much. So we've probably got an advantage here. What I want you to do is dominate via superior firepower: take the taunt and spam Signal Beam until his head spins. Show him who he's dealing with!

Team Galactic had did a pretty good job engineering the zero-G room. A few rocks -- asteroids -- hovered eerily in the air, and the walls were painted black to stimulate outer space. There were even glowing lights on the wall in familiar patterns to represent stars. The room was so well made that one can even forget that he or she is not in outer space, if not for the fact that he or she can breathe normally, and there is a Linoone flying through the air, chasing after a floating referee flag.

"AhhhhHHHHHhhhh...." Or perhaps not. It seemed like the Linoone was just flying around uncontrollably because it couldn't stop itself. The trainers watched with some amusement as their referee crashed into a wall, and, unable to get a handhold, bounced off again. The referee flag floated lazily beside the Linoone, almost as if it was taunting the exasperated referee. "Ok, so the gate is down..." Muttering something to itself, the referee managed to snatch the flag as it floated by and hold on to an asteroid. It adjusted its beret and pulled out another referee flag (one would think that it should just give up and use the backup flag instead of wasting precious battling time to chase after a runaway flag, but the referee seemed intent on having both of them in its, uh, hands, when it was reffing).

The Linoone cleared its throat, and, holding on to the asteroid with its feet, waved its referee flags. "Round start! And, by the way, why are you guys upside down?"

Ignoring the referee's comment (because, hey, the referee was the one upside down, not them), the trainers released their respective pokemon. In a burst of light, a small familiar-looking electronic machine materialized in the room, glowing lightly. Danver the cellphone looked about confidently, ready to call for backup, uh, attack as soon as its opponent materializes. On the other hand, a black weasel-like pokemon had materialized out of Prettzel's pokeball while looking around cautiously. However, the Weavile quickly got into position and faced his opponent, albeit feeling a bit awkward with the missing gravity.

Round 1

Phazon felt strange. Everything seemed normal when he stayed still, but whenever he moved... Something didn't seem right. He shook his head and got rid of the thought. He's here for a battle, and he as a type advantage, to boost. Starting with that, the Weavile stuck his tongue out and started saying some nasty stuff at the cellphone that the referee will not repeat for the fear that it will get kicked off reffing forever. Danver, on the other hand, was definitely not amused. It was alright that the Weavile had insulted it -- it didn't really mind -- but when the Weavil had gotten to the part about the Twitchean Union, Danver decided that firing a Signal Beam straight in the Weavile's face is exactly what the weasel deserved. So it did just that. The brightly flashing beam of energy hit the dark type straight in the face, causing Phazon to yell in pain. The Weavile was massive enough so that he didn't slide back much in the zero-G field, and Danver's natural levitation ability allowed him to stay in one place. All in all, not a very interesting action.

Phazon snapped of it quickly, however, and cloaked himself with a veil of dark energy -- he did not want to get hit by one of those beams again, and the cellphone looked raving mad (Phazon was assuming that the cellphone looked mad -- it was kind of hard to tell the emotions of electronics). He snuck forward, his form completely hidden by the dark veil, only to realize that something was very wrong indeed. Instead of walking normally, he was not floating a few centimeters off the ground and heading towards the cellphone at a rather slow rate. Phazon panicked a little and kicked at the ground, trying to stop himself, only to make his flight faster than before as well as higher. However, he was still heading in the same general direction though, and he managed to scratch the oblivious cellphone on the side. The dark veil faded, and, still heading forwards although in a slightly deflected path, the Weavile found himself getting a face full of bright, dazzling Signal Beam.

The Weavile tried to stop himself, he really did. However, no matter how hard he tried, he was unable to touch the ground again, nor orientate himself. So Phazon floated on in the same, slow speed as before, flailing in the air a few inches above the ground. He covered himself with the dark energy again, hoping to at least hide from the Signal Beam. His effort was wasted, however; because he was flying in a straight line, all Danver had to do was to fire a beam in the same direction as before. Another blinding flash of multicolored light later, Phazon was left still flying in the same direction as well as in a lot of pain. Danver, on the other hand, decided that that's enough revenge for now and calmed down.

- Physics is phun!
- Phazon's first Faint Attack only grazed Danver, so it did not do as much damage as usual.
- Phazon's second Faint Attack failed because he couldn't maneuver himself.
- If I got any physics wrong, tell me.
- The Union orders attacks first next round.

The union commends your fighting spirit, Danver! Use your passion to fuel your techniques! (but... isn't Faint Attack supposed to never miss? I mean, your logic is sound, but it just seems unfair somehow.)

Start by crippling him with a Thunder Wave; if he protects or safeguards or substitutes, Charge instead. Next, Thunder Wave again if it didn't work the first time; if he's protected by safeguard/substitute, unleash your charged Thunderbolt for massive damage. If you didn't charge last action, do it this action. Then use Thunderbolt if you charged; otherwise, Signal Beam.

Thunder Wave/Charge ~ Thunder Wave/Thunderbolt/Charge ~ Thunderbolt/Signal Beam

((Hm, I'm defining "never miss" as "impossible to dodge". To quote the Attacks and Abilities Guide, "The user cloaks itself in dark energy, effectively vanishing from sight, and maneuvers itself to strike the opponent from behind. The user reappears just after hitting the opponent. As it is impossible to see the user coming, this attack is extremely difficult to avoid." The key phrase I'm focusing on here is "maneuvers itself". Since Phazon couldn't maneuver himself properly, he couldn't hit Danver.

Also, I flipped a coin to see whether the last Signal Beam would hit, since Phazon was invisible and therefore harder to hit. The randomly generated coin didn't seem to like Phazon...

Just wish to explain my logic. If both the Union and Prettzel have a problem with Faint Attack missing, I'll change it.

Also, will be editing/edited the first post so it contains Danver's signature move.))

(I assumed from the game animation and other reffings that Faint Attack worked by disappearing from the arena entirely, thus ignoring terrain effects. I don't like it very much, but you can keep it if you feel it doesn't work that way.)

That last round didn't go so well, but fortunately I have a plan! Take the thunder wave and Mimic it--if you're going to be paralyzed, then so will Danver. If thunder wave missed, then use Nastly Plot and cook up some schemes (Like how to move around, first of all). Second, if you used Mimic last round, Snatch away that charge boost; if you're still not paralyzed, put up a Substitute (15%), since I assume Danver will try another thunder wave, according to its orders. Now, things get tricky. If you're protected by your Sub, use Foresight; it'll force it out of its phone and make it vulnerable to all sorts of stuff. If Danver didn't succeed with charge and you have no substitute, use Payback. If Danver pulled off charge, Substitute or no I want you to Protect yourself.

Round 2

The round started with the referee, still hanging upside-down from the asteroid, waving its flags and yelling something along the lines of "Round start!" while Phazon the weavile and Danver the cellphone hovered in the air, annoyed. The arena looked mostly unmolested, for all the stars were still in place and there weren't little bits of asteroids flying around everywhere. It was a pretty good day for battles, for most arenas tend to look a bit beat-up after the first round.

However, Phazon was not amused. Reason number one was that he was still floating in the air. Reason number two was that he was heading straight towards an asteroid, and he couldn't maneuver his flight. Thankfully, the weavile hadn't been going that fast in the first place, and he managed to turn himself around with lots of flailing so that he landed on the asteroid lightly. Phazon turned around and faced his opponent, paying close attention to the cellphone's movements. Danver crackled with electricity and the air sparked momentarily as a weak bolt of electricity headed towards Phazon. Phazon braced himself as the bolt hit him, and winced as he felt his muscles cramp up. Stupid, stupid, stupid electricity. However, he had paid enough attention during the the attack so that he was pretty sure he could repeat it, unless his muscles decide to fail him. Still holding on to the asteroid so that he wouldn't have to float uncontrollably in midair again, Phazon Mimicked the Thunderwave and sent a bolt of electricity of his own right back at the cellphone.

For the Union! Danver grinned (if cellphones could grin), but its happiness was short-lived as a bolt of weak lightening hit it. It could feel some circuits getting fried, making it lose control of some of the cellphone's inner workings. But... It was for the union. For the union. For the union. Danver focused its energy and Charged up some electricity, its body now glowing even brighter in the dark room. The plasma that made up Danver's real body was excited and swelled up, forming a barrier and making the cellphone look larger than it actually was. Just when Danver was about to finish, a burst of dark energy flew out from a waiting weavile and sucked away the excess energy. Phazon smirked, feeling much more energized than before. It's always so much fun to be sneaky and steal the other's moves.

But now, time to strike back and get some revenge on that stupid little piece of electronics. Phazon prepared to launch himself off the asteroid, aiming himself so that he flies in a straight line towards the cellphone, only for his muscles to cramp up at the last second. Muttering some curse words that would make Arceus frown, the weavile was left staring at the the cellphone, unable to do anything. Danver wasn't doing too well either; the Thunderwave from before had messed up some electron configurations, so he was feeling a bit negative right now. The two pokemon stared at each other, paralyzed and annoyed. Arceus must have heard the curses or got tired of sneezing, however, and decided to let Phazon have a little break. The weavile felt himself regain his control over his muscles, and, taking that chance, he jumped off the asteroid he was holding on to and flew towards the cellphone, a dark auroa surrounding his body.

Phazon's aim was true, and he smashed into the paralyzed cellphone, the dark energy lashing out and causing the cellphone to bleep in alarm. The force of the attack sent both pokemon flying backwards, but Danver managed to stop itself, the weavile still in front of him, and hovered in midair, obviously more annoyed than before. Phazon was facing a new problem though -- although he had dealt some nice damage to the stupid cellphone, he was now hovering in midair again. The cellphone, however, was within reach, so he figured that he could probably maneuver himself by pushing the cellphone. And he would have, if not for the fact that his muscles have cramped up again.

Excellent work, though unfortunately we are still a little behind. Still, we can overcome these minor disadvantages.

I think it's time we got rid of that troublesome body mod and immunities; use Foresight to get rid of them. It shouldn't be too hard to keep Danver in your line of sight. After that, Dark Pulse it, but make it a bit widespread. Use Foresight if it failed or wasn't used last round. Then, Dark Pulse again; Foresight if it still hasn't stuck by now Finally, if Danver ever protects, you're too paralysed to pull off your attacks, or you've just been inflicted with confusion, replace your first action with Calm Mind, and your second and third with Chill.

Round 3

The referee seemed to have realized that looking at a battle from its current position will give it some neck problems, for it crawled around the asteroid carefully so that it could look at the battle without bending its neck in a very awkward position. The problem with its new position, however, was that it now couldn't wave the referee flags properly. "Round start!" The referee yelled, taking care not to let go of asteroid or its referee flags.

Despite his paralysis, Phazon was the first to move; glaring at the cellphone, the weavile's eyes glowed bright red, and a beam of dark, red light shot out of his eyes and swept across the field. Danver protested in a series of bleeps and static noises as the beam hit it, and the rotom felt itself being forcefully dragged out of the ghost world and into the physical plane. There was a neat pop as the rotom, now in normal forme, was forced out of its electric appliance and materialized, plasma and all, in the physical world. The electronic appliance in question hovered right below the rotom, the lack of gravity preventing it from falling to the floor like it usually would have done. Danver spazzed, quite annoyed that it was now completely in the physical world and that the stupid weavile had forced it out of the cellphone the Union gave it when it first joined -- it was a nice memento of the past, and Danver could still remember the day when the great Involuntary Twitch first found him...

No, now's not the time to go into flashback mode. There's a battle to be won, and, although it wasn't enjoying being completely in the physical plane instead of the ghost one, Danver still has a job to do. The rotom glowed faintly, and a bunch of photons shot out of its body and floated around the weavile in ways that photons shouldn't be able to float around in but since this is pokemon, we can ignore the fact that the laws of physics has just been broken and continue on. The photons entered the weavile's retinas in extremely confusing ways, and, for a short while, the only thing Phazon could see was brightly flashing, multi-colored light everywhere.

Puuurettty coooolors.... Phazon thought, distracted. He reached out, trying to grab one, only to claw the air uselessly. Ohhhh.... The brightly flashing lights were reeaaaallly purtty. I wonder if Trainer will mind if I bring one home...

Focus! Phazon tried to ignore the lights. What was his order again? Right. Chill. Calm down. Breathe. The weavile took a quick rest, although he was a bit unnerved by the fact that he was still hovering in midair and there's shinnnyyyy things around him.

Danver took this chance to have its revenge. Or try to, anyway, because just then the extra bit of electricity it got from that stupid Thunder Wave a while before decided to act up again and zapped out some of its already overreacting ions, setting off a miniature chain reaction that made it seemed as if the rotom had spontaneously turned into jelly. Danver managed to regain control of itself a while later, still quite annoyed by the fact that it was still in the physical world and its nice cellphone was still floating underneath it. Oh well, revenge time.

Phazon was still Chilling (puurrrttyyyy colors... Hm, mm) when a familiar multicolored beam hit it in the face. The blast sent him flying backwards uncontrollably, and the weavile was forced to stop chilling and attempt to stop himself. Flailing in the air along with the shiny purtty colors, Phazon managed to see a rather triumphant rotom floating behind, looking smug. It didn't really matter though, because there's more important things to worry about -- like the fact that he was about to crash into an asteroid ahhhhhh --

Missed. Phazon breathed a sigh of relief, and focused on the purrrttty colors again.
