• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Reverse Racism?

Well, I am white, male, straight, and christian, so I'm screwed?

Depends. Are you racist, misogynist, transphobic, homophobic, and/or against other religions? I don't think someone's status as being in a minority or a majority has anything to do with anything; it's their actions. A black person can be a homophobe, and a gay person can be racist. An atheist can be a transphobic and a transsexual can be prejudiced against atheists. And, true, everyone can be a bit racist sometimes.

Is it me or does "reverse racism" seem to be a incorrect term? Racism is racism, if a black person hates a white it's still racism right? Or am I utterly confused...

But on the term of racism, it will never go away. No matter how open you say you are, racism has been part of society for so long that it is basically human nature. I think people naturally feel more comfortable around those who look, speak and act like they do. As much as I believe it is wrong, I cannot deny that it exists strongly in the world around me.

I also sense a large change as the generations seem to go by. My grandmother uses racial slurs, that are quite... strong...They are terms that I don't even want to repeat.

Questions by race we are not including nationality right? Because it's similar, as well as religious differences that are preyed upon.

Well she said White, Straight, Christian, and Male. I would assume it means any sort of bigotry of any one type of thing.

You're right, it's just racism either way. I just think they said reverse racism because typically racism is thought of in the 1950's segregation and apartheid sense, and she was trying to shed light on that it happens in the other way too.

I prefer to think of racism as the stereotype or segregation of another group based on a defining feature (skin color, race, religion, etc.) and is usually practiced by the ethnic majority. If this actually holds true, than the term, "Reverse Racism" would not be out of place.

But yeah, the "reverse" is unnecessary.

I dunno, I think if we are just nice to one other and avoid all slurs based on anything we wouldn't have debates like this.
