• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Reverse Racism?

The UK isn't 'less racist', we just have less minorities to be racist against.

I've only heard a little of it, but strangely, it's been coming mostly from ethnic minorities.
Strangely was sarcastic, by the way.

I think that it's not wrong to be reverse racist on someone who's racist against you in the first place. But stereotyping racisim to whites is...well, stereotype, and one should actually try to figure out if their victim is racist or not before applying the reverse racisim.

It was meant to be sarcasm, which is the weird thing. I prefer freedom of speech over somebody's feelings, to be honest.
I'm completely fine with someone saying racist things about whites, but when it actually damages me somehow, as in Affirmative action, I get annoyed.
Also, double standards piss me off. 'Stop being racist, white boy!'

I'm fine with people saying racist things, because words don't hurt me much.
I don't like it when organisations are set up to give people of whatever race advantages, whilst claiming white people are racist.

First off, I hate you for making this thread.

Racism = prejudice + power. It's very simple. Given that western society as a whole is white supremacist....

Sorry, I thought this was the "Serious Business" thread, where we discuss subjects that may or may not be touchy. Forgive me if I'm curious as to people's thoughts.

Well, I have to say that this thread really opened my eyes a bit on the stereotype/racism thing. For one, I realized that I do think of black women sometimes as poor or "drama queens" and saw Asian people as smart and awkward. Now I'll do my best to make sure that doesn't happen (and I now feel very ashamed of myself for even unconsciously stereotyping people).

Anyways, I'm a white girl. I live in a town where almost everyone is white, with some Asians and Hispanics sprinkled in, and almost no African Americans. And I'm also pretty sure there's a total of ONE Native American person in the whole town. This might make is easier to unconsciously profile people based on race since I don't really live in a place where people are equally distributed, I don't know. :/

.... Just .... I'm not going to add anything because she's said everything I want to and way better.

Seriously. I you think that "white trash" is a slur about white people, don't bother posting. You clearly don't know enough to talk about the topic; go read something to educate yourself instead of whining about how bad you have it when clearly you can't imagine what it's like to be someone else.

(Incidentally, ..., your username is very confusing to use in-text)

EDIT: <Eevee> protip: there are so many fucking minorities that not being in one of them puts you in the minority
Augh, can we pretend that post never happened? :( Sure, the majority of the population doesn't land all of the white, male, etc combination, but I don't really see what you're getting at reposting that old quote. It certainly doesn't change that racism, sexism, etc are real problems...?

it's a real problem, but post I don't feel like looking for again gave me the idea that poster was complaining about being in a majority.

Who, Saith? Sure, but I still don't see what you were trying to get across by telling him you could say he's in a minority himself. You didn't actually explain your point, and I can't think of anything obvious. (Good to know my old posts aren't being brought up to brush off racism, though!)

Hey, all you guys saying racism is prejudice+ power, I just decided to throw out good ol' Dictionary.com:

1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.

Power? Funny. I don't see that in there.
