(Original title: "List of Things Team Rocket is Better At Than Stealing Pokémon". This was originally supposed to be just that. It is has since turned into a general "Watching Pokémon as an Adult" thread after about 8 posts.

As you may have noticed, a friend and I are re-watching the Pokémon anime, as adults, and it's fucking hilarious. But our main reason for watching the show is we both absolutely adore Team Rocket and for the past 45 episodes (we have watched over 20 hours of Pokémon in 4 nights I should add) we have literally recited Team Rocket's motto in time with them every time they say it.

You know watching it as a kid I thought Misty and Brock were adults and like everyone I knew Ash was 10.
Here Misty does look maybe around the same age as Ash or slightly older.


People used to tell me Jessie was 16 and I was no. According do Bulbapedia she's 25 so scew you, whoever you were!

BY THE WAY. Butch and Cassidy recited a version of Jessie + James' motto. Jessie and James complained that it took them forever to find a motto worth stealing, and Butch and Cassidy should steal their own. This seems to suggest that Jessie/James and Butch/Cassidy both stole their motto separately from a third source. My friend suggested it was probably a film, like Pokémon world's James Bond. I suggested it was a foreign film, explaining why it took Team Rocket so long to find a motto worth stealing and also the minor textual differences between Butch/Cassidy and Jessie/James'.

We just saw an episode where a film director recites a version of the same motto. I believe this lends credence to our theory

The Electric Tale of Pikachu manga is... let's just leave it at not great, but I did like how Ash's final league battle went there: it ended with Ash's Charizard outright trying to kill Ritchie's, and because it wouldn't listen to Ash telling it to stop, he had to recall it.

I never saw that part of the anime, and since that manga is based on the anime I thought for a long time that that was more or less how it went there (like, it'd probably be softer about the killing thing, but still something about Charizard refusing to stop attacking and Ash recalling it to save the other Pokémon from further injury). I was pretty disappointed when I read how it actually went.

the worst was afterward, ash's mom and prof oak were like "I'm so proud of him!!!! I couldn't have been prouder if he'd won!!!!" and i just angrily yelled "SO WHAT, YOU'RE PROUD THAT HE IS A BAD ENOUGH TRAINER HIS POKEMON WON'T LISTEN TO HIM?!" i was so upset
