Scyther vs. Darksong

First, Cicada, use Double Team to create 4 clones. Then, Chill. However, if the clones are all destroyed on the first turn, right after you Double Team, use Double Team again for 3 clones. You can also Chill on the last turn.

It seems the humans, Pokemon and battlefield are wearing down as the battle nears and passes its middle, and this round could be the end for one of the battling Pokemon right now. With a wave to the Trainers, the referee notes to bring a chair to her next battle, and listens to their commands lazily, knowing none of them would use a banned move or faint the other anyways, what with the damage cap.

Yanma smirks at her opponent and calls up her inner energy, seeing the world with a blue-purple tint for a moment as her eyes flash the familiar hue. Cicada and her clone wince, she knows what's coming. The ground rumbles quietly and Cicada puts a scythe up, hoping to fend off the attack she knows is coming, her clone opposite doing the same. An immaterial rock passes through the ground, and hovers to the side of Yanma for a moment as she considers her options. She could attack only one or the other.. Whirling around to face a Cicada, the boulder flies towards the Cicada in front of her and Yanma is rewarded with a loud screech from Cicada as the clone behind her dissolves into the air, and the wicked tip slices into her opponent's side. It was nice to hear Cicada in pain.

Cicada slashes at the air in front of her in frustration, wincing somewhat as the motion stretched her wounds. If finally getting the real her amused Yanma so much, she might as well annoy her as much as possible, she decides. Pretending to limp forwards, Cicada grins as a smile seems to light up Yanma's face, which turns to a look of horror as she takes off around the ring once more. Yanma lets out a very disdainful screeching buzz, along with a few unkind words that the referee decides not to record for her own reputation. Around Yanma are five Cicadas, exactly alike in every sense, down to the small wounds and marks on her abdomen. Yanma flies into a frenzy, sputtering abuse at her opponent and just going off.

Cicada smiles at her opponent, and acts unconcerned as Yanma's eyes flash a brilliant blue-purple, and the ground starts to rumble. With the dragonfly's terrible guessing skills, she'd never be hit.. well, for a while, at least. From her bored, half asleep stance, Cicada notes one of her clones dissolving across from her, but she doesn't mind, that's what they're for anyways. Yanma seems to mind, however, and is throwing a fit that would make any spoiled child jealous.

Not paying much attention to her opponent now, Cicada leans on a scythe and lets her eyes droop. She's really not very concerned for her health, what with all her clones already. She might as well take a little rest to relax, and just think about nothing... Cicada falls into a kind of half sleep, watching Yanma go about her spazzes in amusement.

Yanma is not happy with this at all, oh no no no. She's putting all this effort into her attacks, and when she finally gets the stupid Scyther she puts up some evasive images and goes to sleep? With a grumble, Yanma casts an eye about her opponents, and draws a spark of energy up from inside her. Her eyes flash a brilliant blue-purple once more, and the ground rumbles, a boulder a good few times the size of Yanma with a nice sharp point on top of it passing through the ground like an image. The Cicadas look away, none really wanting to face the boulder. Casting about, Yanma picks a Cicada out at random and shoots the rock forwards, hoping for a shout of pain or something.

It doesn't come. The Cicada dissolves into the air, and the rest snort in half awake amusement. Yanma screeches at them to shut up, and frowns deeply. This couldn't continue, she needed to hit them all at once with something, and then they'd see who'd be laughing. Hah.

Cicada watches this all from her safe perch, still resting fine. She was perfectly happy with her commands, what could be better than sitting back and watching this show? She looks across from where she leans to each of her remaining clones, and nods to them, each nodding to each other. All together, they stand up and stretch, staring at Yanma intimidatingly. It doesn't work very well, since she snorts and rubs her underused legs together, hoping to come up with something quickly.

Calling up her own inner reserves of energy and strength, the referee struggles to pay attention to the match ahead of her, and waves wearily for the battlers to continue. The bug Pokemon look towards their Trainers and nod to acknowledge their commands, once more making eye contact and waiting for the other to make a move.

Cicada is first to move once more, well, she moves in her mind. Taking a good look around the stage, Cicada evens out her breathing, inhaling and exhaling in a regular pattern. As she focuses on Yanma and what might come out of the battle, Cicada tenses and raises her scythes, bouncing on the balls of her feet. She's pumped now, adrenaline racing through her.

Yanma, meanwhile seems to be having more trouble. She was ordered to use Mist, but had no idea what that meant, or what.. She didn't know Mist, how could she use a move she didn't know? She turns to buzz angrily at her Trainer, receiving a snort from one of the Cicadas across from her.

As Yanma turns to snap something at the Cicada she thinks is the real one, the Scythers push off the ground and dash towards Yanma at top speed. All together, they twist and bring blades down on Yanma, and turn again, racing back to their spots in almost the blink of an eye. Yanma shrieks as the cuts sting a moment later, and looks at herself worriedly. A wound is now oozing furiously on her side; it seems Cicada's blow hit a vital spot.

Yanma hisses. This battle was not going her way.. And maybe it was time to change that. Looking around at the Cicadas, Yanma takes her time and carefully picks out one of them.. Her eyes glow blue-purple and the ground begins to rumble. Cicada glares at Yanma, unhappy to see that she is once again using the attack that has been her favoured one so far. Once more, an immaterial boulder passes through the ground and hovers in front of Yanma, who whirls and points towards a Cicada. Together, they all yelp as the point turns and speeds towards the Cicada, and two images disappear. Yanma lets out a relieved, happy buzz as Cicada is knocked back by the great rock and lets the aura around her eyes and it fade.

Cicada winces as her abused abdomen stings very painfully, and looks towards her Trainer. She didn't really understand her commands, but remembered the words 'Aerial Ace' and decides to go with that. Taking off again, Cicada raises her blades and brings them down on Yanma at top speed, taking pleasure in her whines of pain. Digging her toe-claws into the ground, she jumps backwards and returns to her spot behind a fair sized chunk of rock.

Yanma buzzes her wings together, and does her best not to move too much. Cicada had cut into her already painful wounds, which did nothing to help her. With a will, her eyes flash blue-purple once more, and yet another boulder passes through the ground. Cicada stares and wonders where all the rocks come from, surely they must run out after a while? Buzzing happily, Yanma commands the rock towards Cicada and it flies true, striking her on the leg and shattering on the ground. Cicada swears and hops around, her leg stinging incredibly now. This battle was definitely turning..

It's about midday now, and the sun is very much in everyone's eyes and going to give everyone a sunburn unless they've brought sunscreen. The referee hasn't but does not give much of a damn, since she doesn't burn anyways. Sunstroke, however, might inconvenience both her and the battles she is reffing, and she would not like that. With a quick wave of her hand for the Trainers to go ahead, she sends one of her own Pokemon off to go find her an umbrella or something.

In the meanwhile, Pokemon battles wait for no one but the referee, and she did give the Trainers the all clear. Yelling out commands to their weary Pokemon, the Bug types glare at each other for what could be the final round. Breaking eye contact, Cicada raises her scythes to the sun and calls forwards her inner strength, focusing her mind on the energy of the sun, and what could come from it. A few pale yellow sparks blink into existence around her, and spin in quick circles around her, drawing a kind of curtain of light over the mist hovering around her as well. The sun appears to flash, and Cicada blinks as her body's natural healing power speeds up, and closes her open wounds.

Yanma hisses out a few curses as she watches Cicada stand straighter, pumped with energy and looking refreshed. Her orders were simple, this round, and were just the kind of demolition she wanted to go out with, if she did. Focusing the energy within her, Yanma's eyes glow a bright blue-purple, the exaggerated colour of royalty, and to Yanma, the colour of Cicada's death. The ground rumbles softly under Cicada's feet, and something shifts not too far below as the ground seems to sink.

Cicada looks forwards at Yanma worriedly, and groans as she sees her opponents eyes' are glowing blue-purple. Not this again.. Instead of passing through the ground, a boulder suddenly appears in front of Yanma, phasing, it could be said. And once more, the wicked tip turns towards Cicada and rockets forwards, lodging itself in Cicada's side as the rest of the rock cracks off and falls to the ground, shattering on impact. Cicada turns to Yanma, and notes an odd faraway look in her eyes, like she is daydreaming in the battle. Not a good idea, Cicada snickers, and blinks as a translucent blue-purple wisp floats away from Yanma. Uh, what?

It probably wasn't anything important, Cicada decides, since it didn't fly towards her and suck her soul out or anything. With a smirk, she puts her scythes to her sides, and pushes away from the ground, quickly landing and bounding at Yanma. Before the glow of her eyes fully fades, Cicada is on her, slashing and kicking like a wild thing. Yanma buzzes out a high pitched whine and closes her eyes, waiting for it to stop-

And when she opens her eyes again, Cicada is standing where she was, looking at her oddly. She looks noticeably more tired, but has this grin on her face that says it all. Yanma buzzes her disproval in a string of words that once again, the referee decides not to record. She's still hanging on, but to a very slim thread now..

So that means it'll be time to deal death, then. Once again, Yanma summons her strength, which is starting to fail her, and her eyes glow a dimmer blue-purple than earlier. Once more, the ground rumbles and something far, far below them all shifts as an immaterial rock phases before Yanma. Cicada knows what's coming, definitely, and puts her scythes in front of her abdomen in an attempt to block the point-

The Scyther cries out as the rock point flies forwards and buries itself above her eye, not too far away. A yell from Darksong lets both Trainer, referee and Pokemon know that she is not very pleased that her Pokemon was almost permanently blinded, a returning shout from Scyther (yes, the Trainer) lets her know he didn't know Yanma would do that. A buzz that could be a little laugh from Yanma tells everyone what she thinks, and it's not a very nice thing to think about. Her legs are drooping, she wouldn't be able to last much longer like this.

Cicada glares at her bloodthirsty opponent, surely this was taking it too far? She wanted to return the favour, maybe rip one of her wings off, maybe a leg if she could before being stopped. But her commands were to rest.. and reluctantly, Cicada calls up her inner strength once more. The winner of this battle is pretty obvious, Yanma would probably knock herself out from exhaustion without her having to move a scythe. The pale yellow sparks from earlier blink into existence and dance their strange dance, and the wound above Cicada's eye, along with a few others, seal themselves as her natural healing power focus in on her wounds, before fading away. The result is a physically fit Cicada, but also quickly wearing down, and she gets set to try to dodge whatever Yanma throws at her, which will likely be-

And she is right. While Cicada has busied herself with restoring energy and healing, Yanma has summoned up the last of her own energy, literally, in her final effort. In front of her is a meagre looking rock, about half the size of the previous ones Yanma has summoned to her side. Unnervingly, she doesn't seem to be flying, but floating in the air as a blue-purple aura coats her. The rock flies towards Cicada in the blink of an eye, and before she can move, buries itself into her arm. As Cicada jumps backwards in pain, the aura leaves Yanma suddenly, and she drops to the ground, utterly spent.

Cicada whoops and does a twist in the air, and as she does, the green aura around her fades away. She points her scythes and laughs at her fallen opponent, and grins up at her Trainer as Scyther steps forwards to recall his finished Pokemon for the first and last time, in more ways than one. It seems Cicada's prediction has come true.

The ref winces and turns back to her battle, making a mental note to pay some damn attention, especially now. Things were starting to heat up! Absentmindedly catching the end of the Trainers' commands, she looks expectantly at Scyther, who seems to reluctantly throws a Pokeball into the field. The red light dances about the Pokeball for a few seconds, and forms into a bipedal, furry Pokemon with deadly looking claws and almost completely white fur. Cicada snorts and waves her own scythes at him distractedly, now just focusing on keeping upright and holding still. The referee tilts her head, and the Trainers command their Pokemon one more time, for her benefit.

Waving to the new match up, the referee twirls a stick she's found off the ground in her fingers and waits for them to proceed.

Cicada smiles at her new opponent, and puts a scythe up, letting it catch the light and shine wonderfully. Walking about a bit conceitedly, she smiles at Zangoose and strikes a pose, trying to make him pay attention to how well toned she was, given her few healed over scars and bruises. To her disdain, there is a faint, shimmering green shield around him, and he has thrown his claws in front of his face, as if the protect him from whatever invisible danger. Tilting her head to the side, Cicada leans on a scythe and waits for Zangoose to notice the world is waiting, dammit.

A bit reluctantly, Zangoose lowers his claws, and a moment later, dissolves the shield. Well, that was all pointless, since the Scyther didn't even try to rip his heart out or anything.. Turning to his Trainer disgustedly, he spits something about not really wanting.. oh, whatever! A seductive smile now on his face, Zangoose turns and struts about the battlefield, trying to get Cicada to see how great he is, and how strong he can be, striking a pose similar to Cicada's. It seems to be working, since the Scyther has a bit of a soppy smile on her face, and is fluttering her wings slowly.

Cicada is actually less attracted to Zangoose than she looks, after all, she did catch that glare at the beginning of the round, and all. Still, she can't help but fall for the grumpy looking guy, and with that thought, decides to let herself relax a bit. Besides, if he loved her, what could he do, attack her? Lying against that one scythe, Cicada closes her eyes a bit...

Zangoose smirks at his relaxed, totally unaware opponent, laughing under his breath. No Scyther could actually have anything more than a rivalry with him.. well, except for his Trainer. With the ironic thought floating in his mind, Zangoose rubs his claws together as a small, pulsing spark forms between them, and spins towards Cicada, loosing the spark on her. It flies towards the Scyther, and seems to leech itself onto her side, releasing bits of electrical energy and other corruptive impulses into her as she snaps to attention, fully awake now.

Cicada shakes herself off a bit, yelping as her muscles lock up. How..? Turning to Zangoose, Cicada wonders if he could have.. no, why would he attack her? Or try to harm her? They were in love.. weren't they..? Well, she might as well reconvince him if he didn't love her, Cicada decides, and as her muscles loosen, she jumps into a whirling dance of flashing scythe and spinning body. Zangoose watches rather unimpressed, he can do that too. Ha, he thinks, and waits for Cicada to finish, giving her a rather fake smile. He'd be gladder if she found out he didn't like her.

And as our battle starts to wind down and heat up on our twentieth round, the day passes its midpoint and the sun flares up. Naughty Trainers and referee, they should know not to be outside from one to three o'clock! Fanning herself with her hand, the referee nods again, letting the Trainers know they can go. The two command their Pokemon somewhat enthusiastically, and the Pokemon are off!

Well, not exactly off. Zangoose glares as inconspicuously as he can at the ground, and turns to snarl something at his Trainer. He didn't want to do this..! Reluctantly, Zangoose smoothes his fur down with his claws, and looks at Cicada full in the face, calling up a kind of psychic power inside of him. Reaching out to Cicada with his mind, Zangoose finds where her emotions are and nudges her towards liking him, if not completely loving him. Whatever Zangoose has done, it seems to be working, as Cicada gives him a soggy smile that disgusts Zangoose, but he smiles backs and struts back and forth.

Cicada looks up in shock at her Trainer's commands, she had to hurt Zangoose? But.. Her Trainer knew best, maybe he was just hiding something from her, maybe he was actually with another Pokemon! Besides, this was a battle, and things had to change.. Cicada lowers her head now, making as if to bow to Zangoose. He is greatly amused by this, both because Cicada seems to be tensing for an attack that's not coming anytime soon, and she is completely exposing her neck to him.

Still, Zangoose hadn't been ordered to attack, so a bit happily, he went to work creating an image of himself. Spinning in a quick circle, Zangoose reaches into his mind for the power that helps him from time to time with arcane attacks, and suddenly, he feels a hollow shell of something, beside him. He grabs it's claws, and the two Zangeese (sp?) spin in a circle, the real one transferring some of his own life force into the image. Blinking, Zangoose is whisked away to a safe spot where he watches the Pokemon and a half on the field.

Cicada looks up a bit, seeing Zangoose's substitute and knowing something is off, but.. Her Trainer had warned her about a substitute, or said something.. this couldn't be Zangoose, she decides, and sprints forwards at an incredibly quick pace, head still lowered. Her crown finds the stomach of the substitute, which is blown back a few feet, and skids on the ground, before seeming to stand up and walking forwards again with a blank expression on its face. Cicada squeaks and steps backwards, knowing now that either Zangoose didn't love her much or this wasn't Zangoose. Oooh.

Zangoose looks on from his safe spot, (behind the referee, it seems) and wonders if Cicada was losing trust in him, like his Trainer said. Clawing the ground, he growls quietly. He's not good with this love stuff, and the chance to not use Attract again would be nice. Wouldn't it be good if Cicada didn't love him anymore? Really, it was all fake anyways, so. With that in mind, Zangoose flicks his tail and curls into a ball, his tail resting lightly on top of him. Unknowingly to him, on the field, the substitute rolls up and copies him, earning a raspy laugh from Cicada.

Well, Zangoose looked pretty cute like that, Cicada thinks, and decides to show him some of the things she could do too. Raising a scythe, Cicada steps forwards to start a whirling dance, but groans as her muscles lock up. She could barely move, and the only part of her she could move, her toes, were cramping terribly. This round was going nicely for her.

Cut ~ Attract/Cut ~ Attract/Protect/Chill

That's it, let's cut the act.

Use Taunt. Then, roar a lot, to keep her away from you.

Short, but what can I say? There wasn't much action >_>

A short pause for all the humans to catch their breaths, and the referee waves to the Trainers to continue. She knew she should've brought those flags. The Trainers rap out commands, and the battling Pokemon nod their approval, before turning to each other, or in this case, not, and beginning on the ref's command with no further ado.

Zangoose is the first to move, Cicada still struggling with herself at this time. He appears beside his substitute and they grab each other's claws, twirling in a circle so Cicada doesn't know which is which. Pathetic, he snarls. Did you really think I would love a Scyther other than my Trainer, who happens to be better then yours, by the way. Darksong suppresses a yell at this, watching with mild annoyance as Scyther's (the Trainer) Pokemon continue to abuse hers. Zangoose continues, his substitute joining in, both their voices becoming one. I bet you even think you're better at fighting than I am, come on, come have a go if you think you're hard enough!

Cicada is both thoroughly confused and thoroughly angered by this, and glares at the smiling, weak substitute of Zangoose. Didn't he love her.. but he said he didn't..? What the hell was going on? With a growl, Cicada leaps forwards with a scythe raised, and brings it down with a solid thunk and slashes the substitute. To her relief and satisfaction, it dissolves into the air, the real Zangoose ungracefully dumped on the ground in front of her.

Zangoose is up in a flash, back on his feet and holding his claws out. Cicada opens her mouth to say something, maybe to ask him why he said what he did, and if he actually still loved her, when Zangoose opens his own mouth, and roars visciously. Cicada yelps and leaps backwards, racing towards one of the large bits of rock still scattered around the arena. She trips and cries out again, before pushing herself up and diving behind a rock, shivering slightly. Was that Zangoose? Did Zangoose roar at her? Quietly sniffing, Cicada stands up behind the rock, to see Zangoose smirking rather maliciously at her.

All traces of doubt now gone from her mind, Cicada knows for sure that he doesn't love her. With a hair-raising cry that makes Zangoose die a little on the inside, Cicada snarls at her Trainer, torn between running towards Zangoose and ripping him apart and obeying her Trainer. Zangoose helps her decide as he lets loose with another fearsome roar, making both Trainers jump and the referee twitch. Cicada cries out and ducks below the boulder again, scolding herself for being so jumpy. Waiting to stop shaking, she stands up again, resolving not to be affected so much by the roar next time.
