NOTE: Just a note, the background is relatively sparse... And this is intentional, the world will unfold as it is explored.

The planet of Edallia is a place of wonder, magic, and intrigue. It is here in an endless sea of clouds and sky that our adventure takes place, on a large landmass called Adrat. For more than twenty thousand years, the early races have thrived and prospered here. During its first era, the era of birth, the first three major races came about. The Dwarves built great kingdoms below the ocean floor, the Mercate dominated the seas, and the Elves built cities that blurred the line between magical and technological on the northern most continent which they named Calenim.

The second era known as the Era of Exploration, was marked by the immigration of Dwarves to the surface, where they co-existed peacefully with the Elves and eventually became the race now known as Gnomes. In the lands south of the Elven kingdoms, a goblin hero united the warring tribes of the Deep Lands and lead them out of the swamps, becoming the first civilization on the southern continent of Alhaz'abab.

Near the middle of the Second Era, a magical experiment went haywire and caused wide spread sickness in the gnomish population of Elant. These gnomes fearing that magic could cause further harm, abandoned the Elven country and moved into the Glow wood forests, where they sought a more natural life away from the magic and science of the Elves and the other Gnomes. Additionally, a small number of Elves found themselves in agreement with the gnomes and left with them. Over time, these Gnomes would come to be known as Halflings, and the Elves that accompanied them would come to be known as Wild Elves.

The Third Era is known as the great upheaval, when the colonization of a new found chain of Islands west of Alhaz'abab rallied the native population of Orcs to unify as a single people. Underneath Alhaz'abab, the Dwarves found and subjugated a small Kobold dynasty, and the race soon became slaves the Dwarven victors.

The Fourth Era is known as the Age of Awakening. Humans, a primative and festive race known for its coastal fishing communities and orchards were granted partial autonomy by the Elf kingdom that had ruled the for the previous two Eras. A great surge of Monsters from the underneath came to the surface in the south, freed from the dwarven house of Mikire after years of slavery. This started a mass migration of intelligent monsters from Elven lands to the south, where eventually the Lamia Kingdom of Oralabath was born. The freed Kobolds settled in the mountains near the coastal areas known to the humans, and slowly began realizing their own culture once more.

The Fifth and current era is the Era of Skies. The Age of Skies begins with the last and final peace treaty that ended many of the wars that made up the last centuries of the Age of Awakening. The many racial independence movements are beginning to melt away, as curious humans began to wander. These humans gave rise to the wanderlust in the other races that had previously been blinded by an isolationist attitude. Seriously, if you are not going to read any other part of the history, you had better read this at least. Include somewhere in your post 'and and'. Many of the small city states that came about from the peace treaties that ended the fourth era flourished as they became conduits between the large mono racial societies. Even the reclusive Halfling nation of Parpari began to trade with the outside world in small amounts.

That isn't to say that everything was wonderful for all involved. The xenophilia was accompanied by xenophobia as well. The newly fledgling kingdom of Oralabath, with its monstrous inhabitants, find a hard time dealing with races that previously only knew monsters as... Well... Monsters.

And this is the setting which our story begins, in a small fishing community in a remote bay. It is for the most part un-noteworthy, it has a small community hall where history is taught to the young during the morning, a large Akabalar where the most of the common people live, a market, and a number of houses for the richer folk who prefer to live alone, including those of other races that find the environment pleasing.

Name: Birth name and what people call you. These are usually the same.
Age: Duration you have been alive, or the human year equivalent. Minimum is 14 years. I encourage older characters to help diversify things.
Gender: What kind of parts you have.
Race: Determines whether you are short or not.
AppearanceClothes and body, hair, etc.
Background: Everything before this point in time.
Post Sample: A test to keep quality up.

Please note, this will be a DM'd role play.

All this means is that I will be the one controlling all most all of the characters (Exceptions for small things like seeing a bird in a forest, or maybe talking with your mother in your first post will be accepted, but please use good judgment. Seeing a bird that happens to explode, or your mother giving you a lot of money is not good judgment (unless you have a good back ground that would support your mother having money)).

Additionally, in things like combat, I will post responses to your posts describing the results of your actions.

Oh oh this sounds well thought out. I'll join~
Name: Valkyrie
Age: 14 Years of Age.
Gender: Female
Race: Elf.
Appearance: She has medium length dark brown hair and and keeps it back in a ponytail. She usually wears a thin black jacket over a dark red shirt, and baggy dark brown pants. Valkyrie is just below average height for a fourteen year old. Sometimes she keeps a pair of sheathes on a belt, for her twin daggers.
Background: Valkyrie was born a few years into the Era of Skies, and lived around the outskirts of town near the top of the bay. She bought a pair of daggers when she saved enough money and taught herself how to use them.

Post Sample: Valkyrie nodded to the kids watching her from shore, and dived off the boat. She loved showing off, especially to the younger kids who thought everything was awesome. Valkyrie turned to face upwards, and kicked to the surface. She grabbed the fishing spear from the boat, and dived again. A school of fish seemed to hang in the water around ten or so meters away, and Valkyrie swam slowly towards them. Angling the spear, she pulled it back... and fired. One fish was speared by the sharp point, the others racing away for thier lives. One fish. Better than nothing, she decided as she swam towards the boat.

You are accepted. Thanks for joining and I hope you have a fun time.

Just a tip for role playing an elf: Elves are not nature loving people in this setting (Except for the Elves that followed the Halflings in the second era.). Most Elves focus themselves to magical and engineering (clockwork) pursuits. I presume that you are probably playing a wild elf (that is, one that comes from Halfling lands). This is just for your use in Role playing your character if you want to use it, you don't have to.

Name: Zephyr
Age: 20
Gender: Female.
Race: Elf.

Appearance:
Zephyr wears a long, patched up red coat that fastens at the top and has a sticking up collar. She wears an unusual combination of a yellow dress and boots that are black and white. she wears a belt containing a mixture of tools and magic weapons, small daggers and some food. She wears a golden sword on her back that was handed down through her family. On her head she wears a pair of headphones, and she wears orange goggles to protect her eyes.
Her hair is long and brown, curled up into two buns on top of her head, and her eyes are orange. Her ears stick out a bit, but are relatively small. She is quite tall for her age, and is relatively slender.

Background: She has worked in the family business from when she was 8. She is, despite what her brothers may say, a good inventor, and a skilled magicion. Her family is that of a normal elf one, except for the mysterious gold sword which has been passed down to the females of the family for generations.
And and she acts childish a lot of the time, but can be sensible when the time calls.

Post Sample:
Pulling the headphones over her ears, and the goggles over her eyes, Zephyr looked around in her pockets for a pen.
"I know I have one somewhere...." She went through several seemingly bottomless pockets, before finding what she was looking for.
Writing on the back of her hand, Zephyr threw some explosives at the object in front of her.
They exploded on contact. When the smoke cleared, the sheild was still intact.
"Finally!" Zephyr yelled. Suddenly, the sheild burst into blue flames. Zephyr stared at it for a few seconds, before slumping into her chair.
"Oh well. Back to the drawing board."

This looks good.

Name: Sneachta, or "Snow" by friends.
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Appearance: Medium in height, and too thin to be considered healthy. He has shoulder-length white hair with bangs that usually fall in front of his face. He has large, blue-green eyes, and a thin nose. His skin is pale, as he is rather nocturnal. He wears simple green clothes that are a bit to large, and a small celtic cross around his neck.
Background: Sneachta was named for his hair color and shy personality. Born into a fairly well-off family, he stayed away from most of the villagers, who seemed to dislike him for his odd appearance. He made the decision to be partially nocturnal, as he could roam peacefully at night. A year ago, he built a hut in the woods several minutes' walk from town, so he could live in peace. The only things he brought with him were his mother's amulet and his father's falchion.

Post Sample: Snow couldn't sleep. He was bored, and and had everything he needed for survival for the next week. He had visited his parents two days ago, and didn't want to go back to town for a while, so that was out. With a sigh, he got out of his bedroll and put his clothes on.
Walking out of his hut, he glanced around at the woods. They looked so different at midday. He quickly decided that a trip to the coastline by the bay would be fine, and began walking.

Name: Ina
Age: 8
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Appearance: Ina has gray eyes and very pale skin that's always sunburned, to the point that she constantly wears a hat or a cape with a hood to avoid always being bright red. She generally wears a plain white sleeveless dress with a dark blue cape. Her hair is actually white (Looking back.. oops, I didn't mean to sort-of copy Echo.. sorry. :dead:) though it's always dyed blonde, so that nobody actually knows. Her hair is around elbow-length normally, but it's always braided and pinned up in "teddy bear ear" buns. She has tiny diamond earrings on 24/7. Unknown to basically everyone, she carries around a knife/dagger, for "just in case.."
Background: Ina is the only one in her family to have albinism, which is the reason behind her real hair color and problems with her eyesight. Her family would definitely be considered rich, though Ina doesn't really care and spends most of her time running around in the woods near her house. Her mother is obsessive about making sure nobody knows about Ina's white hair, despite the fact that she isn't the only one in the village to have that problem. Nobody knows, however: to everyone she is simply the little rich girl that seems endearingly clumsy, always running into things.
Post Sample: Ina hugged the tree branch for dear life, pulling herself carefully higher up the tree. Mother had said (well, more like yelled) that running around in the woods and and climbing trees was a stupid waste of time: Unladylike, risking life and limb if she fell, and possible disembowelment by rabid wolves. All of these were silly, which only made her want to do these things even more. Now at the top of the tree, Ina looked out at the town, her town.
It's so pretty up here. I wonder why-
Something smacked her on the back of the head, sending the surprised little girl falling fifty feet to the ground. Sort-of fortunately, the many many many branches she hit slowed her down enough to prevent any broken bones. Still, she stayed lying on her back, watching a huge, very-confused bird flying away. She was laughing to hard to even notice Mother running into the woods and dragging her away, screaming louder than humanly possible.

You're character is fine, but you are missing something in your post.

Aack. *slaps self* This is what you get from reading too much Eragon >=/
Don't worry, my setting is very unorthodox in terms of fantasy standards.

You are missing something I requested you have in your post, please read the first post over. I really like your writing though, but the character is a bit too young <.<;;.

*facepalm* I put it in the wrong section. That's what I get for doing this while half-asleep. Edited.

Okay.. is 13 years old okay?

And here I thought that I had read it over =3=. 13 is acceptable, but you will have a harder time carrying things around. Accepted, please delete the your last post so others can't find the request so easily too, if you don't mind that is <.<;;.

*facepalm* I put it in the wrong section. That's what I get for doing this while half-asleep. Edited.

Accepted. A few more people, then we will start.

What exactly are Kobolds and Mercates?

Kobolds are a small Draconic humanoid race, and Mercates are a Sea Dwelling people.

dx0120fc_fightclub_meepo1.jpg

They are an industrious and curious race, but spent the 3rd Era as slaves to the Dwarves.

Mercates are a water dwelling race that are often mistaken for Elves when on land. They are also called (incorrectly) Sea Elves.

This is an example, but I am linking to it since it isn't official DnD Art, nor my own.

Birth Name: Jon Stall, but likes to be called Lord Stall.
Age: ~200
Gender: Male
Race: Elf
Appearance: Wears a long black robe. He has long, pitch black hair and and eyes. His hair is about 1 foot long, going down his back. He is about 7 feet tall, so pretty tall compared to humans. He usually keeps his hood up, but when he is in his lab working he takes it down to see better. His skin is very pale, almost to the point of being pure white. He has very young looking skin, making him appear only about 30 in human years. He wears a small device on his right hand that allows him to change his clothes at will, using a holo-projector. He does not use it often, but it comes in handy when he needs to do some sneaking.

Background: He was born about 200 years ago, and raised by only his father, who was a great scientist. When he turned 50 he left home and moved to the small fishing community(Which needs a name). He settled and lived there prosperously for about 150 years, going to his lab every day to work on projects that he never tells about until they are finished. He likes to think of himself as some sort of leader or elder of the village, and thinks that he is in charge.

Post Sample: Lord Stall woke up in the morning and immediately got dressed. He walked into his dining room and got out some pots and pans and made himself some breakfast of bacon and eggs. He ate it fairly quickly and walked out if his home, which is on stilts and sits on the water. He started walking towards his lab, which was not too far from his home, but was a good walk so that he could get some exercise. He entered his lab lobby and took down his hood. He stood in the quarantine and was sprayed to become sterile almost immediately. He walked into the actual lab and picked up some materials and got to work(I won't go into detail because it would be incredibly long winded and boring). After a while of work he walked back into quarantine and was sprayed sterile again. He put up his hood and walked home, because he didn't seem to see anything interesting going on.

Name: Mark Drakis
Age: 43
Gender: Male
Race: Kobold
Appearance: Mark has a short snout and and a large crown of horns. His tail, usually swung over his shoulder, is fitted with several copper rings of varying size and design. Mark wears only a simple toga of some blue material, decorated with an odd, cryptic design, and a ring, plain but for a luminescent crystal fitted in the middle. He holds a tall staff of birch wood, topped with a larger version of the crystal on his ring.
Background: Mark grew up in a (mostly human) port town, making a living as an assisistant in an apothecary, and thus gained a large knowledge of medicine, antidotes, and potions. He also dabbled in magic (mostly he made plants in his garden grow faster). He recently moved to the town in the story, and bought a small cottage in the east of town.
Post Sample: A tinkling, melodic sound made its way into Mark's ear, awakening him. He glanced at the source of the sound, a somewhat worn-looking staff with a crystal affixed at the top. The crystal in question was currently glowing with a clear reddish light, reminescent of the sunrise currently painting the sky pink. Mark stretched his arms, then opened his door and headed out to the market.
