• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Open Symbols and Signs

Araneus finished the chocolate bar and looked around, only to find that everyone had left while he was spacing out. He exited the inn from the slightly-open door, and found the clock tower, with the others standing outside. By the time he got there, the doors had been opened, and two others had already entered. He slipped through, careful not to bump into anybody.

Nikolai followed the other three inside, he stopes briefly in frn of the canine man and nodded his head in thanks and entered.

Inside the room you see shelves filled with books, from right to the floor to the top of the entire tower. There is a spiral staircase that wines up, allowing one to reach a book it needed. There is a large table in the center of the room littered with papers, opened books and a bottle of clear liquid and a short glass next to it. The hound leaves the door and sits back at the table, pulling a book into his lap and starts to read again. After a glances up, he takes the bottle and slips it under the table.

"If you have reason to be here, now vould be a good time to talk. If not, then go and let me be so I can vatch these place in peace." He stated, never looking up from his book again when he talked. His voice is thick and sounds aged, making one wonder how old he may be.

Indigo's eyes wandered over to Javi for a moment, but he quickly decided it wasn't worth telling her to be polite. His attention then went over to the wolf that was sitting in the room.

"Excuse me, sir. We were hoping to find information on some odd symbols," He said quietly while his hand instinctively reached for the 82 on his hand.

Indigo rather enjoyed the wolf's no nonsense attitude. He made it feel necessary to ask questions that no one wanted to ask.

Though she didn't get any response from the others, Tasha followed them into the room. Hm, there are lots of books here...
She heard one of them were asking about the symbols... what kind of symbols? The only symbols she had seen lately was the weird mark that had appeared on her shoulder... did it have something to do with her being brought here?

"We've got numbers on our body." Xavia said, a bit angrily, to the Wolf, showing him the 43 on her neck, "Perhaps you could explain them."

She bit her lip.

Don't be bitter, that wolf can, like, kill you and stuff. she thought.

"yes Nikolai would be most appreciate if you had any possible explanation for these strange happenings to me and my comrades here," Nikolai said trying to sound as peace wanting as possible

((Ghaaa, catching up. It sucks.))

Ryan absentmindedly tailed the strange people. He followed them all the way to the clock tower, keeping a safe distance from the dog-man upon arrival. He was never much of a reader, but he almost wanted to dig through the books he saw in this room.

He pulled open his collar, and stared at the 13 on his collarbone. Lucky number... Hope that dog-man already had lunch... Or is it breakfast? Food. Yes. He couldn't even follow his own thought train at this point, much less this whole situation.

(ok I'm sorry but I am part of too many role plays right now so I have to leave this, but if anyone wants to take over my person feel free to do so, I'm sorry)

((where have I been for all this? BTW: tl;dr))

Old man Frizzerwick snored. And snored. Then, he snorted, coughed, and sputtered. But then he snored.

With a start, he sat upright, breathing hard, and reaching for his inhaler. Scrambling for his cane, he used his inhaler once, twice, three times. Steady now, Old man Frizzerwick stood up, in search of his glasses. This went on for a while, until he was tired. He then sat back on the stack of hay, or whatever it was, he had been lying on before, and calmly fell back into sleep.

The hound looks at the group before him, closing the book and tossing it on the table. He looks to the shelves and gets up, walking up to it and rooting through the texts a bit. After some time, he returns to the table and lays a old large book down on the table. "You have symbols. Not first time, but it has been a long time since that last happened...odd, they vere not humans last time though. But none the less, come here to table and listen to this tale. You may learn something from this old man if you pay attention."

His hand rests on the cover of the book, a symbol under his hand glowing as faint chains appear over the book. He mutters a single sharp word and the ward breaks. "Gather around Children. Your destiny avaits."

Lars, ever-curious, could not help but pipe up:

"Incredibly sorry to interrupt your story, but not human? What were they then? Were they similar to you townsfolk?"

( I was able to reorganize and I'm back)
"hmm very interesting these creatures, no offense, are?" Nikolai said," They speak in our language, and seem to have vast advancement, yet have no need for weapons," with that he removed the mp40 clip from his bag and slid it to the hound,"here do what you want with it since I no need it in your world."

Indigo backed off of his spot on the wall and walked over to the wolf. Indigo was never one to believe in that destiny things, but there were a lot of things he hadn't believed in until now. He wanted to hear what the wolf had to say.

At the same time, his hand started to ache again, probably from the anticipation that came. Indigo quickly decided that it would be a good idea to get his hand looked at if he had time.

The hound he lifts the book and opens it, a slight smile on his face. He glances up to the group to see if they were paying attention before beginning.

"Long ago, this vorld vas connected to the others, each holding a doorway between the dimensions. As ve all once lived in peace, it vasn't long until one vorld vished to rule all the worlds. Vhen the vars begun, people died on all fronts, each vorld growing greedy vhen they too vanted to rule the vorlds. One day however, a being stronger than all stepped forvard, aided by a member of each vorld by their side wearing a symbol on their bodies. Vith their combined powers, they locked the doors to the many dimensions, separating all from one another."

He then takes a breath and turned the page. He looked up at the children before him, a serious light to his pale blue eyes. "Indeed, the vars stopped vhen all vas sealed, but it vas not a pleasent vhen the hug world that held the many doors started to lose vhat vas once their power. The hub world started to turn grey, the foundations veakening and threatening to spill through the locked doors to the other vorlds."

He then looked back down at the book, leaning back in his chair. "That's vhen the same being appeared before the people of magic and nature, predicting to them that many people from the other vorlds vould appear in attempts to reconnect their vorld to the hub. At first the people of magic and nature vere against the idea of these people coming to reconnect to the hub, but the being explained to them that by reconnecting the vorlds one by one, the hub could be saved and the vorlds from falling prey to the destruction in the vorks. In time, the people did appear, all bearing the symbols the chosen had vhen the vorlds vere locked away. They vere tasked to explore the vorld of magic and nature to find the door to the hub, the only one left that had been left unlocked. Once they had reached it, they vere tested against the dangers behind the gateway in order to find their vorlds door. No one knows the tests ahead, but it vas their destiny to finally reconnect their world to the others."

He then closes the book and places it on his lap. He folds his arms and looks at the ones before him. "Each group that appeared bore symbols, some the same some different. The numbers you wear are only the beginning. Vhen you meet the Owl, he vill reveal to you the true symbol you have on your being and the power behind it."

"Could you please lead us to the owl? This sounds interesting... Maybe we have, in addition to these symbols, relation to those charcters?
