Open The Amityville High School of the Strange and the Supernatural

Elise quickly drew two circles, small and side by side, then connected them with a loop. She had been doing this for quite a while now. She traced over her sketch of a cherry, more carefully this time, making them perfect. They would be a delicious snack later. If only she had her colored pencils with her. Alas, she only had her pencil and eraser, along with a small, thin book of an unknown subject. She had only brought it along to be a table for her drawings, as it's usually quite difficult to draw on top of nothing.

Looking up, she realized that everyone had gone into the auditorium. A few minutes ago they were swarming, herding around the door and waiting to get in! How she managed to be so unalert was slightly alarming to her, but she quickly stuffed her supplies into her coat pocket and snuck into the crowded room. The announcer had already started talking! Elise sheepishly took a seat next to a boy with a purple shirt and green pants.

After that little incident, she took out her pencil and paper and starting drawing cherries again, ignoring her neighbor completely. She was listening to the announcers, though, but that was not obvious.

Suddenly, it was like a bomb was dropped on her. Elise looked up in fear, wondering what happened, and a moster was standing before her. It seems like a student had challenged him, and he was explaining why that was a bad idea. He told them to find their dorms. Elise put her art supplies away once more, but stayed where she was. She didn't want to be the first one up, for many reasons. One of them being she had no idea where her room was. Oh well. She would find out soon enough, hopefully.

((Confused, generally reclusive characters are so much easier to introduce late! :D))

All this happened, and Reggie wasn't even fazed. He stood up with the other students and quickly went to find his room, hoping he would get a single. Spreading his wings, Reggie flew at the exit and out of sight rather quickly.

Neku took this into account right away, and quickly left, bounding down the alley. He quickly nodded to Nick, and left for the aisle between the seats. He was just about to leave when his eyes met Eris'...

And he was petrified with fear.

No matter how hard he tried he couldn't move. He was extremely terrified. His muscles urged him to move, but the fear wouldn't leave! How had he managed to ignore this in the first place?

Eventually, with much effort, he managed to get away from her. Hopefully she wouldn't be his first fight...

Shortly afterwards, he found his room, No. 7, with a single bed, probably due to the fact no one would want to sleep with someone in the room that was part cat, and dumped his stuff, still with a prickly feeling on his neck. He managed to shake it off, but was still cautious not to link eyes with Eris...

More shadows, more darkness, as if the air was suddenly filled with dark wings flapping and leaving a creeping void - she could taste it, an affinity to not just Nick, but a boy who rushed in. She smirked, catching sight of his red eyes. Perfect - proof that he was another one to watch. The various questions being pelted at the teachers didn't hold much interest for her, though she doubted pulling students into waking nightmares without warning would not be allowed. Regardless, it wasn't like she could quell what she did entirely, no matter what, so it didn't really concern her. Besides, it wasn't fighting, just feeding off of them, finding weak points to exploit later.

Someone entered, and she sat up, eyes almost glowing silver as her powers flared once more, fear rushing out in a wave. She could practically see some sort of dark energy - she almost expected voids to open where he had set foot, eating away at the floor. She couldn't look away from him, and her eyes only flicked to the boy who rose to challengeh im, before settling hungrily on Ted again. She was surprised, however, when the void she had been expecting appeared - there was no noise, nothing but a swell of energy, and a monstrosity appeared on him, or over him - and she leaned forward, the tug of dread like a siren's song pulling her closer. What could someone like him dream? Did he dream - or did his nightmares creep into the minds of others, infesting and screaming out of malformed mouths?

She needed to find out. She only tore her gaze away when he dismissed them to go find their rooms - but the cat-boy finally met her gaze as he moved away, and her lips curled. She followed him, feeling his heart beat faster, as if it was in her mouth, fluttering desperately - and she couldn't resist tormenting now that her powers had taken delayed effect. "I'll be nice to meet you too," she called after him, grinning at his stiff back, before she turned around. Hm. Going for her room was necessary, of course, but she wanted to study the other students and their reactions to her as they left.

Nick felt himself freeze when Ted had his 'demonstration.' Hefelt himself grow cold, and resisted the urge to shiver. He took the given opportunity to grab what he had and exit the auditorium quickly but quietly.

He watched as Neku finally met Eris' eyes. He felt sorry for the cat, thinking how utterly terrified he must be. His mind took him back to the encounter between Eris and the Shade. The Shade had decided that it liked her. And some of those feelings were, of course, transferred to Nick. He still, however, found her somewhat disturbing. When he walked past her, he kept his face void of any emotion, only nodding at her. He couldn't decide if it was an easy task or a difficult one.

It's almost as if the Shade is a conduit for me... He contemplated the thought for only a short time before leaving the auditorium. Already, he was wondering if he'd have to bunk with someone, or if he'd get his own room.

Malin stood still as a statue and glared as he was laughed at. His hands gripping the desk tightly, they left imprint of fine gold-leaf where his fists had squeezed the wood, his eyes blazing with righteous fury. He'd been rejected. By a filthy, unclean, festering stain of a peasant! The wave of deep-rooted terror that flooded through him upon the sight of his abominable power fouled by his anger, turning from fear into disgust, his power almost as offensive to the senses as his personality.

Remaining standing amidst his tutor-to-be's self-flattering boasts of accomplishment, shrugging off his serious challenge as an attempt at humour, Malin's only consolation was that the students were all about to be paired up into pairs for combat practice, which would give him ample opportunity to prove himself under the watchful eyeball of the person who had just denied him the satisfaction of a serious battle. Though he had been preparing for such an occasion for a long time coming now, never before had he faced anyone capable of engaging him on any equal footing. This being his first contact with others possessing abilities even remotely in league with his own. It was a crushing and embarrassing disappointment Theodore had inflicted, and heedless to the fact that he could have been seriously injured, Malin silently swore to hold it against him until the day it was avenged.

With a brief glance back at Anya, his mask of resilience dropped for a moment at the sight of her, his face revealing a glimpse into his shattered hopes of validation before he could once again conceal it behind fortitude. Turning on his heel, he made his way out of his seat and up the aisle, maintaining his composure despite what had happened with the minimum of ease. His blood boiled like it was heated by fire - driven by the determination to make good on his claims of superiority and prove himself to all who doubted him. Parting the great mahogany doors with both hands, once outside the auditorium Malin retrieved his belongings, which rested inside a chest of pure gold which weighed far more than most natural humans could hope to carry. Levitating it simply with his mind, albeit with some concentration required, Malin began to walk slowly towards the dormitory wing he'd familiarised himself with upon arrival at the school. Following the printed directions he'd been given through the lavish hallways in search of the place he would soon make his own.

Arriving at a room marked with a brass number 1, Malin smiled approvingly. An appropriate number given his elite status. Reaching out, he touched the metal marker, coating it with a thin layer of gold which could be simply removed if it was deemed as vandalism, before casting the door aside and waltzing in to his new abode. His heart skipped a beat - and there was a heavy THUD as his golden chest dropped suddenly to the floor.

There were two beds in here! Was he to be forced to share a room!? Unforgivable! Simply unforgivable!

Zeph heard Ted's display of power, and witnessed the huge distortion of space as a huge black void was twisted into creation. Such a display of power...Zeph would be careful around that teacher. He stood up as they were dismissed to their rooms, dreading the battles that were soon to come. He once again, like he had entered, followed the crowd out of the auditorium, narrowly ducking out of the door's way as it swung shut after someone shoved it open viciously.

He grabbed his bag that was where he had left it, leaning up against the support pillar, and slung it over his shoulder. Where were they supposed to go from here? To their rooms, yes, but....where? He looked down, sending an ever so small and imperceptible ripple of space outwards from him. When it hit a wall, person, anything in it's way, it bounced back to him, mapping out the room in his mind. Okay, so there were hallways to his left...he turned and walked that way, one hand sliding along the wall, feeling the numbers on the doors. Which room was he given?

He remembered his uncle telling him when he dropped him of...oh yes! Room 3. He rubbed his thumb over the cold smooth number at the door that he was at. It had a soft spacial glow about it like it had been freshly made. The number was 1. He sighed and walked to the next door. 2. The next door. 3. There. He opened the door and walked inside, leaving the door open. He felt his way around the room as he sent out spacial ripples. It wasn't a huge room or anything, just a basic room with a bunk bed, a small closet, a desk, and a chest of drawers. He sat on the desk and bowed his head.

How was he going to just get through this day? He felt lost. Detached from it all. Alone. He dropped his bag on the floor and waited for something to happen. Someone else to enter if they too were given room 3, for the call to battles, for whatever.

Ted's demonstration left Alex totally unfazed. Maybe he could wield the shadows as well...

He picked up his plastic sandwich bag, containing only a toothbrush. Alex was ready to leave when he felt a ping of fear after looking into Eris's dark eyes. Collapsing to the ground, visions of knives came to his eyes.

Knives...

The shadows rose from the ground, as if they were his only friend. Which they were. The darkness surrounded him in the shape of a dome as he wept.

Eventually, Alex let a single wisp of darkness out into his body. It cleansed him of his nightmare. The shadows released him and they slowly sank back down, to their proper place.

He turned away from Eris and sprinted out, searching for his room.

At first, when Ted had walked through the door and into the room, Anya thought she liked his attitude; she perceived him to be a very casual individual. However, with Malin's challenge and Ted's display, she wasn't so sure. For a moment, she found herself frozen with fear, frowning and biting her lip hard. Blinking out of her momentary stare, she watched as the others got up from their seats and went to go find their rooms. "I'd better do the same," she spoke her thoughts aloud. Her mind went back to that image of Ted with slimy tentacles and other horrifying things protruding from him. Ugh, disgusting.

Shuffling out of her seat, she sauntered out of the room, hopeful to find her own. Anya had regained that same, signature smile of hers and was probably wandering aimlessly with no clue where she was going, a small trunk in her arms. Still, she was determined to find her room. And that she did. When opening the door, she first things she observed was there was a bunk bed, which means she would be having a roommate, and there was a mirror on the side of the wall! A mix of anxiety and excitement hit her, as she wanted to know who would be living with her. All would be revealed shortly, she assumed and put down her trunk.

Gazing into the mirror and twirling around a bit to see how she looked, she started to fuss with her blonde locks of hair, which were partly in her face. "I must look presentable!" When she was positive her appearance was adequate, she opened her hand, sending a few sparks into the air.

Marie watched the display of horror with a look of mild surprise, and Plague skittered under her arm in fear. She stroked him soothingly, before getting to her feet when the rest did. She strode from the room at the back of the group, but kept her gaze levelled on the back of the boy from before. She was glad that the place didn't seem to have boys and girls dorms, since she was so curious about him...

When he opened the door marked 1, she chuckled, shifting her hold on the large leather suitcase she was carrying. Plague was sitting on her shoulder, chewing on a bit of cheese she had produced from her purse. She peered inside, chuckling as she watched him drop his chest.

"Hello there. I hope you don't mind sharing with a girl, Goldy?" She asked, not bothering waiting for an answer as she strode inside, putting her bag on one of the beds. Plague skittered down her arm and perched atop the luggage, round shining eyes looking around.

She sat on the bed as well, smiling at him as she adjusted her bodice, then smoothed her skirts, crossing her legs. Plague hopped into her lap.

"My name is Marie Young, and this is Plague. And your name is?"

It was good to hear somebody else make an ass of themselves for once. He'd been suitably embarrassed by that Ted guy, who seemed cool enough. Maybe he wouldn't even bother pushing him.

He'd completely forgotten what room he was meant to be in. 3, he assumed. He walked along the corridor, searching for it. 1... 2... 3! He opened the door. With any luck, he'd be on his o--

"Dammit." There was somebody already there. He sighed. Maybe that wasn't the politest way of starting off, even if he'd shown himself up in the auditorium. "Hello there," he said quickly.

As he waited for a reply, he noticed that the guy he was sharing was wearing sunglasses. What a freak, he thought. Does he think he's cool or something? At least his hair was nice - or it would be, if he had combed it once in his life.

This would be interesting...

Scowling at the fact that he had not been granted a private room, a situation which would force him to mingle with one of the other commoners consistently over what could be a span of years. Seemingly unlike the other rooms, in place of a bunk bed the room possessed two four-poster frames complete with curtains, although they were placed so close together that the illusion of isolation was fickle at best. Walking over to one of them, reaching out his bare hand to touch the fabric, he claimed it as his own, leaving a golden imprint of his hand upon one of the drawn curtains. Later, he would make certain to move it away. Or better yet - relocate to another room entirely.

Startled by a voice from the doorway, he turned around with a sneer towards the source of the mocking feminine voice emanating from the doorway. Expecting it to be the girl from before who'd given him the creepy vibe. Contrary to expectation, it turned out to be a girl he'd never seen before, although judging by the lecherous way she flaunted her body at him, it was hard to imagine why. Admittedly, her looks held him captivated for a moment, before she had time to introduce herself along with her rat. The sight of it scuttling around making the prince scowl in a repugnant manner. While Malin had very little issue with rats, especially the well-bred sort with good hygiene, the name Plague was hardly cause for optimism. And neither was the sickly color of the girl's skin, or her swollen yellow eyes that became noticeable upon close proximity to her. The other bed now having been tainted with her presence, it seemed that this deadly nightshade was to be his roommate for the time being, a brief assessment of what her powers might be turning up few positive results.

"My name, lady belladonna, is Malin Augurello. And in the interest of future co-existence, I would implore you to use it."

His words a double-entendre, he compared Marie to both a beautiful woman and likewise a deadly flower, whilst making his disapproval known for her somewhat less subtle nickname. Turning away from her, the combination lock on his chest unfastened itself at his touch, the lid pulling back to reveal an odd selection of clothes, books, grooming equipment, emergency food supplies and bullion bars. Unpacking everything but the bars, placing the books, which had titles like "The Applications of Gold" or "Alchemy Theory" atop his bedstand, folding the rest away into the drawers while leaving his spare clothes neatly piled upon the bed, Malin turned finally to the golden chest and the bars that lay within. It was important to dress appropriately for battle, after all...

Nick stared at the little note he had in his pocket. It only had a big number four on it. He walked past room 1- which he found the number very shiny on- and 2... and 3... Finally opening the fourth door. As he explored the room, opening this cupboard, and looking at that, he threw his small backpack on one of two beds.

Maybe I'll get lucky. I remember in seventh grade, we had to share lockers with someone else, but there was an odd number of people, so I got one to myself... Feeling the need for conversation, he let out the Shade. The Shade attempted to make the other bed his, which started a long argument between the two, which, to anyone who couldn't see, sounded like Nick was arguing with a wall. The Shade's voice, after all, only sounded like wind in a hallway to others.

Alex, out of breath and panting, finally found the corridor where he was to stay. He pulled out a small slip of paper with the number two on it.

How convenient, it was right next to him. He slowly opened the door and found a bunk bed, a dresser, a desk, and a closet. Alex set his plastic bag down on the top bunk and sat on the bed cross-legged, watching the door with his red eyes.

A shadow rose from the darkness and also sat cross-legged next to Alex.

The thrill of darkness was strong here - she could tell that there were at least two others, if Ted did not count, that used the darkness in some way. Eris was openly smirking at everyone that passed to get to the rooms, and particularily at the boy who collapsed. He must have been in a fragile state of mind to do so before she even focused on him - how delightful. His dreams were also worthy of seeing, of checking out. And if the rooms had two beds, so she could share... well, that would be just perfect, wouldn't it?

Most of the students had trickled out past her, and she took this as the time to saunter into the hallway as well, eyeing the rooms curiously. She went for room 2, not caring if anyone was inside already - which it seemed someone was, perfect. Stalking in, she flashed a smile at the boy who had fallen earlier. The lure was there, feathers brushing against the back of her neck, blood in her mouth. Of course, she would see if she couldn't find Ted later - the bed wasn't all that useful for her, given she didn't need to sleep. Nighttime was when she prowled, replenishing her energy on the dreams of others, and she couldn't wait until the sun set today. "Hello, I saw you in the auditorium. You have nice eyes," she said, her own still glowing silver with excitement. "I'm Eris. It seems we'll be sharing a room." She was staring as much at the shadow beside him as at him - such luck, to be paired with someone with powers of darkness.

Still, she made a show of putting her packed things away, not too tidily, not that it really mattered. She wanted so much here - her power thrummed inside of her, a dark chord constantly echoing with the need to consume and terrify.

Alex stared at Eris and shuddered a bit. Oh gosh, why her? She had to have powers over darkness, like him. How else would she be able to make him think about knives? He allowed the darkness to enter his mind, calming him.

He then ripped a piece of paper out from his notebook and quickly scribbled something: "Hi, Eris. Thanks for the compliment. And I suppose that this will be very interesting."

He handed the paper to the shadow, who floated downwards from the top bunk and reached out to Eris, so that she could grab the paper.

Once everyone else had left, Elise got up, exiting the auditorium and going to get her suitcase. It was right by the door. Perhaps not the best placement, but it made it easier as the girl just snatched it up and walked down the hall where others were going. She still was unsure where her bed was. Did she leave a note?

The girl looked down at her suitcase, where a note taped to the side said 'Room 4'. Well, that was simple.

She walked past the first three, staring at number one for a few seconds as it had a golden color apart from the rest. She turned the doorknob and walked in. There was a most peculiar sight in front of her. A boy was arguing with a... black elf thing. "Uh, hi," she introduced herself meekly. "I guess we're roommates. Black elf thing, shoo please. That's my bed."

She did nothing about the creature after that, however, and opened her suitcase. First thing in there was a humungous pack of colored pencils. She took that out and went to a small desk table, right near her bed. She took out her pencil, paper, and eraser, though set aside everything but the paper. She got out a red colored pencil and began to color in her cherries. When she had finished with all of them, a neat and perfect dozen, she looked up and said, "I'm sorry, but I'll be claiming this desk, most likely. I draw a lot, and my art supplies get everywhere."

She stared at her drawing, concentrating and beaming in satisfaction and expectation. In about a full minute, or maybe a little bit more, her cherries popped out of the paper and into the air, delicious as ever. She quickly picked up a few and ate them. "Mmm," she sighed. "I was drawing those off and on all day." She turned sheepishly to her roommate when she realized that she was eating her creation in front of him. "Oh, sorry! Uh, next time I draw some cherries I can make some for you, too! If you want some. I can imagine why people wouldn't want to..."

While Zeph was contemplating his loneliness, someone walked into the room. Judging by the footsteps, it was a fellow student. Probably male, but possibly a female with a heavier step. He heard the person suddenly stop, saying "Dammit" and then sighing, and Zeph smiled slightly. The voice was male. He probably hadn't expected a roommate. Zeph certainly hadn't known he'd be sharing a room when he had received the invitation to the school. The person said something.

"Hello there."

Zeph, still looking across the room at the wall, replied softly.

"Hey. So I guess we're roommates, huh? My name's Zeph." He reached out his hand to shake hands.

When the girl walked in, and told his... Black Elf thing to shoo, The Shade put a hand to its chest, pretending to be offended, before vanishing in a black bolt, returning to Nick. Nick only watched in silence as the girl unpacked a wide variety of art supplies.

"I'm sorry, but I'll be claiming this desk, most likely. I draw a lot, and my art supplies get everywhere."

"Eh, I don't need a desk. Wouldn't use it anyway." Although, when she ate her drawing, Nick found himself half confused, and half amazed. She offered to draw him some next time, whatever that meant. "Uh, that's okay. I'll just stick to food from a store." But still he wondered.

"So, my name's Nick. I didn't catch your name?" One thought went through Nick's head. I would've at least thought there'd be a Girl's dorm and a Boy's Dorm.

Skylar was one of the last to leave the auditorium. He had grabbed his bag, hitched it over his shoulder, and walked out, avoiding mostly everyone else. Once he was out in the corridor, he sighed. What a time to not remember which room was his. Yawning, he walked with an obvious confusion around the hall until he saw a number which vaguely reminded him of his room.

As he opened the door, he saw a blonde female with almost blindingly bright clothing. She seemed to be fiddling around with her hair as Skylar walked in. He looked at the number to reassure him that this was his room, before clearing his throat.

"Uh, hello. I guess we're sharing a room... My name's Skylar." He said, removing his hood and patting his red hair down.
