• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Closed X: The step into other worlds

Rhythm beat on the chair gently and boredly with two fingers. It was getting quiet now, with all the excitement gone. The raging storm outside was the only thing keeping him awake. Taking a glance around the room, he saw that Aidan had fallen asleep, and Raith was staring intently outside.

Darkness noticed the quiet as well, and glanced around.
"Windfall should be back any-" she was cut off as the door slammed open and a drenched Windfall stormed in.
"All invitations delivered." she muttered, falling into a chair and shivering.
"You're soaked." Zora commented.
"Really." Kirita mumbled.
"I know-" she sneezed mid-sentence, "...shit."

"Aye, it is pretty brutal out there." Rhythm muttered, "I wouldn't blame her if she caught a cold or something."
"What compelled you to go straight out there and deliver them without waiting until the storm let up?" Raith asked, "Then again, it might not let up for a while..."

"Thought I would be fine..." Windfall muttered, before sniffling, "I've been in conditions like that before... It must be the air temperature out there that did it..."
"Poor thing." a voice from the kitchen carried out, before Acacia floated out after it. She trotted to a nearby closet and pulled out a dark red fleece blanket, wrapping it over Windfall's shoulders. It was then that Spirit came out.
"Did you deliver the invites? Sorry I made you go out like that. You look like you're freezing."
"Yeah, I did... And I AM freezing..."

"It even looks like there's frost in your hair." Rhythm commented, staring intently at Windfall.
"I don't think that helped much." Aidan muttered quietly, but quietly enough for Rhythm to hear.
"Neither do I, but it's still interesting to see."

"That's fine, Deax..." Windfall muttered, "But... How the hell would you be able to see it if there were frost in my hair...?"
"It's honestly not that hard." Zora mumbled, "Your hair is whiter than normal."
"What do you mean it's-" she sneezed mid-sentence, "...I'll just take your word for it..."
Hera stepped out of the room at that moment.
"Ah, you're ba- Jesus H. Christ. You look awful."

Intent on making a point, Rhythm used the back of his hand and lightly brushed Windfall's hair. Several small chunks of ice fell out onto the ground. Rhythm shook his hand free of cold, then leaned back in his chair and stared up at the ceiling.
"Now was that necessary...?" Aidan asked, still tired from his abrupt awakening.
"Probably not, but ah well."

Windfall blinked at the ice on the ground.
"Oh wow..." she then took to feebly brushing the ice out of her hair.
"Damn. I knew it looked frozen, but I didn't think it actually was." Zora muttered, picking up one of the tiny chunks of ice and examining it.
"Well there goes my co-decoration planner..." Hera grumbled.
"Not a problem." Darkness stated, "Spirit, I believe, has gotten the seating done. Am I correct?"
Spirit nodded.
"We have."
"Great. So there you go Hera. They'll help you-" Darkness stopped as Windfall sneezed again.

Rhythm stared serenely at the ground, then stood up and stretched.
"Aye, this wedding's got so many developing downsides. Ah well, not like I care." He muttered, walking towards the door.
"Now then, I'll be right back."

"It's only one." Darkness muttered, "She'll be fine by tomorrow."
"Probably..." Windfall groaned, taking the soup and sipping it gratefully.
Zora, ignoring the bit about Windfall, looked up at Rhythm intently as he walked toward the door.
"Where're you... never mind. It's probably not my business anyway."

"Yeah, yeah, not only one on my count." Rhythm muttered, "Now then, I'll be just outside if you need me. I'm not leaving anywhere." With that said, he opened the door, and, against the strong winds, made his way out.

"He's right you know. There's you overworking yourself, there's the fact that Cyndra kicked the stool and knocked me over, now Windfall's caught cold..." Zora muttered, counting the downsides on her right hand as she turned to watch out the window.
"Yeah shut it." Darkness grumbled.
"Nono, I'm not saying I'm not happy about the event in question, it IS mine after all, I'm just saying that there are more than one downside."
"True, but you can't have anything without 'em."
"That's true."

Rhythm glanced at Jax as she came out. When she spoke, he barely heard her, although he did catch the word "cold". Now that he payed attention, it had gotten considerably colder out. He wrapped himself with his wings in a futile attempt to get warmer, and crouched next to the door.
"That man is demented if he thinks he can stay out there for more than a minute." Raith muttered, glancing out the window at Rhythm.

"I'll give him thirty seconds." Darkness muttered as she walked toward the window.
"Now don't say that." Kirita mumbled, "Twenty bucks says he only makes it fifteen seconds before he's gotta come back in."
"Don't bet on him!" Zora snapped, before glancing out the window at him again.
"At least... not without me. I bet fifty that he makes it more than a minute."

Even with the addition of his wings, Rhythm was still freezing. His mind searched frantically for a way to warm up, because for some reason he didn't want to go back in. Then it hit him. Quickly, he folded in his wings and morphed into a kitsune, and the rain only made him feel wet instead of freezing. Although, he knew that he couldn't stay out too much longer.
