Abortion

D: Then we'd have to silence most of India, and you don't mess with India. :o Hell, and Iran. And...many many other countries.

NEWSFLASH: People living in India and in Iran can't vote in US elections.

Many kids will go through several families before staying put in one, if at all, and some just run away and grow up alone. Adoption can be a good thing if taken care of properly, but the system America has sux teh ballz.

Then that system needs to be repaired.

Oh, of course. *grabs tool box* *crouches, showing Plumber's Crack* Well, there's yer problem...

Foetuses aren't children. Putting them through the adoption system is probably just as bad as raising a kid you don't care for. And, if abortions were illegal and everybody just put their unwanted children up for adoption, don't you think there'd be more children up for adoption than people willing to adopt them?

I don't support abortion- to the argument of a baby growing up in a loveless environment... Yes, that is a very, very bad thing. Isn't that one of the reasons we have adoption?
What about the agony of having to around nine months carrying a child you don't want inside you? Then having to give birth to it, pay the hospital bills, the feeling of dread once the baby's actually born etc.

Quite frankly, if you were stupid enough not to take the proper precautions, you shouldn't be allowed to kill an unborn child FOETUS because of it.
This is because some countries have piss-poor sex-ed classes e.g. American abstinence programs. People will still have sex even if they're told not to because god will smite them with his loving hand, and they won't know how easy it is to get pregnant.
And what about rape or when the contraceptive fails? Broken condoms, that kind of stuff.

If you feel the baby wouldn't receive a proper upbringing from you, put it up for adoption.
We've covered that.

And state-funded abortions are just stupid- what's next? State-funded liposuction?
Hurr abortion = minor cosmetic surgery

Then that system needs to be repaired.
It doesn't work that way.

Sure thing, go start it. There's a lot to talk about there. *nodnod*

Edit: Vladimir Putin's LJ beat me epically.

That's already the case.

Is it? I read somewhere that the number of children who are up for adoption roughtly equal the number of people who want to adopt, but the paperwork process and things are so slow, as well as things like pressure groups preventing gay couples adopting means that there are large numbers of children without adoptive families.

And yes, you hear horror stories about kids who go through the adoption process, but most of them are actually adopted into loving families and grow up to be healthy, well-adjusted normal people.

Two of my closest friends were adopted young, and I'm certianly very glad that whatever it was that meant their birth mothers couldn't keep them didn't make them have abortions.

That's how adoption is bad.

People may want to be married to show their determination to stay together and love each other. Sterile people get married all the time. What if one person in a marriage gets injured and cannot have kids? Should the couple just get a divorce? Marriage isn't just about family.

...what was this in response to?

O_O It was something Crazy Weavile said, but I think the post was deleted.

Okey-dokey artichokey. *nods*

I forget, is there a certain point during a pregnancy that you cannot abort after that point?

Yes, but it varies from country to country. Uh, here:

Wiki said:
In contrast, another 44 of the 152 most populous countries generally banned late-term abortions after a particular gestational age:
12 weeks (Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cuba, Czech Rep., Denmark, Estonia, France, Georgia, Greece, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Rep., Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Norway, Russian Fed., Slovak Rep., Slovenia, South Africa, Ukraine, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Yugoslavia), 13 weeks (Italy), 14 weeks (Austria, Belgium, Cambodia, Germany, Hungary, and Romania), 18 weeks (Sweden), viability (Netherlands and to some extent the United States), and 24 weeks (Singapore and the United Kingdom [Northern Ireland excluded]).

You seriously want someone who didn't take those precautions taking care of a child? Yes, it's irresponsible to ignore precautions and get pregnant, but it's equally as irresponsible to take care of the baby if you cannot do so.

Here's a question: Should the mentally disabled have children, or be forced to have an abortion? (Got the idea from Law and Order XP)
