Take me to Wonderland
OOC thread

A young man yawns, chewing on a peice of grass as he looks out at the rolling green hills of the country side. He rubs his arms, looking up at the bronze dragon that laid beside him.

"Irthos...why is it so cold here?"

The dragon chuckles a little, her voice soft and calm.

"Ominak, this isn't the tropics...so it would be colder here than home."

Ominak sighs, leaning against her arm. He smiles when he feels her wing drape over him.

"So...how long until they arrive...."

Irthos bows her head a bit, glancing out at the hills.

"Not long..."

He sighs, looking up at the sky. He starts to hum under his breath and thinks of his island home. He closes his eyes and imagines the soft ocean breeze and the light salt smelling air. He smiles a little, the sense to protect his home raising him his chest.

I will stop this nonsense...for Irthos....

Irthos lets out a small chuckle, nudging him a little with her tail.

You know I can hear your thoughts, right?

Ominak blushes, crossing his arms.

"Not funny..."

She starts to laugh when a feeling reaches her. He raises her head and loks out at the distance.

"...they're coming"

The soft click of metal touching ground could be heard for five minutes before its source could. Cresting one of the many hills in the area, Shasvati casually walked towards the bronze dragon. Her gaze was in no place in particular, rather she surveyed the field and took in the calm of the place. When she finally came close enough for the others to see her clockwork replacements, they would also noted the youth that lay on her back, asleep.

"... So I see I am the second one here. Fashionably on time, as always." The smooth voice rolled from her throat. With a simple shrug, she rolled the youth ontop of her down onto the ground.

"..." The boy didn't say anything in surprise, getting up before dusting himself off. "I am Jonas, and this is my partner Shasvati."

"We're lost?"

"No, of course not, we just simply... don't quite know where we are."

"In other words, we're lost."

The immense dragon, covered from snout to tail-tip in shimmering golden scales, chuckled, and a small puff of light smoke rose into the air from her mouth. The human male on her back smiled amusedly. "So, how do we find our way?" he asked.

"Simple," the dragon replied. She shut her eyes, and for a single moment each one of her scales flashed.

Sophisyr, the human, stayed completely silent so as not to interrupt. He waited patiently, and after around a minute the dragon, Krynemu, snapped open her dark green eyes. "Somewhere in the countryside. Lots of people are coming, but we'll arrive third."

"Excellent... remind me, what exactly are we doing on the side of a mountain?" he grinned. "Let us go!"

Krynemu launched herself off of the rocky outcrop and flapped her huge wings once, catching a drift of wind and rising into the air. She spread her wings wide and began to glide swiftly, dodging past trees and small mountains. When she was about fifty feet off the ground she began to use her wings again, propelling herself out of the small mountain range and across the lush green hills, shooting across forests and gliding across lakes, until she sensed at least one other dragon nearby.

Atop one hill were two dragons - Bronze and Red. Krynemu stopped above that hill and allowed herself to gradually descend upon it, flapping her wings to slow her fall.

"Greetings. My name is Krynemu Meyaterga of the Aurum Lineage, and this is my rider, Sophisyr Navatis."

The large Silver dragon known as Starlight soared through the skies, across the countryside. She was engulfed in a soft, hazy glow as she flew, a result of her main ability. A small silvery sphere, maybe 5 feet in diameter, was resting in her forepaws as she flew, the only visible sign that she had a rider with her.

Tark sat in a meditative pose, encased within the silver globule created by his master dragon. While he could not see outside his protective casing, Starlight transmitted a moving image of what she was seeing... or perhaps instead what she wanted him to see, by illuminating the internal colors of her sphere, like a large LCD screen. Tark watched the 'movie' as he sat. "Can you tell me again... I don't understand. Why are we leaving the village?" Tark asked her. Starlight's voice resonated evenly throughout the sphere, as if it came from everywhere and nowhere at the same time.

"They are back... the Draconians. I must find allies."

Tark continued his questioning, "And do you know where you are taking me?"

"I have no clue to be honest. But I feel we are going in the proper direction."

That wasn't very reassuring to Tark, but he knew better than to be suspicious. He trusted Starlight, after the last nearly two decades he spent at her side, or rather her feet. "How will you know we are there then?"

"Others will come. They will sense the threat as well. Some may already be there, waiting for us."

The human took a deep breath and closed his eyes. "... All right. Well, let me know when we're there then." He leaned back against the chamber 'wall' to try to relax a little before he was needed.

The two flew for another hour. At her high coasting speed and height above the ground, Starlight knew it was too dangerous to just keep her passenger on her back... any kind of turbulence, or even a change in direction could send him plummeting toward the ground, and she didn't want to lose her current rider, not now. Not to mention the air itself was rather thin and cold, something she actually enjoyed, but not something that Tark would thrive in. So she needed to protect him in her own way. This was a speed however impossible to fight at, as she could not be very agile at all, or react fast enough to changes in the enemy's stance. It could only thus be used for long-distance flight. As she finally neared the hilly countryside, Starlight could sense a few dragons gathered up ahead. She spoke to her rider.

"We are here now, Tark. Be ready."

Tark stirred, shaking himself awake. "Huh? I must have dozed off... Oh, I see it... there's dragons on that hill up ahead. That's where we're going?"

"Yes, that's correct." Starlight began to slow down and descend from her altitude, toward the hill in front of them. As she reached a safe speed and height, the silvery sphere around Tark began to disintegrate, turning back into a kind of fog, most of which was reabsorbed into Starlight's body. Starlight then landed on the grassy hill, taking a couple steps to slow down completely, and she sat down near the other dragons, holding Tark on her palms.

"Hello everyone," The silver dragon announced. "I am Starlight, and this is my human, Tark." Tark just smiled, a little embarrassed, and gave a wave. He hadn't actually seen any other dragons besides his own master, and appeared rather curious of them, also watching how they treated their humans. Starlight had always been the one in charge, and he didn't question that. He had grown to almost crave her commands and was used to her kind of disciplining if he didn't carry them out completely the way she wanted it. But he wondered what the relationship between the other dragons and their riders was like.

Storm twisted her neck slightly, to look at the human sitting on her back.

Look down, you can see the others. The great white dragon motioned towards the ground with a claw, and Valkyrie on her back squinted down.

"I can't see anything," she grumbled. "Your eyesight is better than mine. All I can see from here is a few blotches of colour, I think that's a silver, red.. bronze? And.. some gold." Storm nodded.

Those are dragons, She told Valkyrie. I can't believe your sight is that bad. Let's go. She dipped a wing, and the dragon started to spiral down in a wide circle. She landed a hill away from the others, and Valkyrie got a look at how big dragons really were.

"Wow," she muttered. "So, we should go over.." Storm lowered herself and Valkyrie jumped off her back. The two started to walk towards the small group, and Valkyrie dipped her head slightly.

"Uh, hello," she said nervously. "My name is Valkyrie, and this is-"

Storm, the dragon cut in. Just call me Storm. It's a pleasure to meet you all.

"Kotan. Kotan, wake up, we're here," Zruka said while Kotan yawned, waking up from his sleep. "It's the last time we talk until you fall asleep."

"Aw, come on. We both know you couldn't keep quiet for more than two seconds." Zruka made a rough aerial move that forced Kotan to hold tight to her neck. Both laughing, Zruka landed lightly on the ground, and both looked around.

"The dragons look so strong."

"The riders too... Well, guess we just have to do our best." Getting off Zruka's back, both walked to the rest of the group. "Hello. I'm Kotan, and this is Zruka," he said, while the dragon bowed.

Shasvati visibly grimaced as the silver dragon spoke, her mind calling up the memories of her humiliation and pain. She dug her metal claw into the dirt as if trying to cling to reality in the face of the memories this newly arriving dragon brought up within her. Her older self, the selfish and hating self that died when she was scarred welled up within her breathing. She could feel her hind legs tense and her spine arc, her body a perfect example of a creature ready to kill. Then, she felt Jonas' hands on her cheek, and suddenly she was lucid once more, though suddenly ashamed and embarrassed at the obvious lack of self control.

"...Thanks" Was the most she could mutter.

Rasvim the blue dragon tore through the air, his head bowed low to make himself more streamlined. His massive wings beat at his sides, making a whooshing sound in the air. He was a large, heavy beast, so he had to work very hard to keep himself up in the air. But he was strong, so it wasn't too hard.

On his back was perches a tiny elf girl, her long hair whipping behind her as she clung to the saddle on Rasvim's back. Her eyes were squeezed almost shut to keep the wind out.

"I see some other dragons, Rasvim!" She called, voice mostly lost to the wind. But the Blue heard her.

"I do as well, My Nava. Prepare for decent!" He bellowed, turning into a sharp dive.

He landed with a thud, shaking the earth slightly. He folded his wings with a snap, and walked the few metres left between the group and himself. Metallics.

He snorted but said nothing. Nava slid from the saddle on his back and landed deftly on her feet.

"Hello." She said.

"Good morning." Rasvim said with fake happiness.

"This is dumb," Achuak said, voice muffled by the cloth wrapped around the bottom half of his face. "Why did we leave?"

"We're going to save the world, Achuak," Kothar said, pushing up with her wings to lower herself and set her on a course toward the ground.

Achuak sighed, and the following intake of breath tasted of urine, a taste that wasn't foreign at all. He'd been breathing pee for many long years now. He had to keep it on right now - Kothar had warned him that since they didn't have time to fight, if they got into any sort of battle she'd be liberally using her chlorine breath. It had yet to happen.

Used to it or not, Achuak never liked having to taste his own piss.

As he grumbled about having to leave their forest - what if someone else tried to claim it - Kothar easily spotted the various-coloured dragons on the rolling green hills. She landed several metres from the group, light for her but still resulting in an audible thump. Achuak undid the leather straps that kept him tied to Kothar's back, and slid down her side, landing on the grass on his hardened bare feet. He gave them all a vague smile and sat down, leaning against Kothar, who also sat beside her human.

"Hello," Kothar said, looking around. She didn't see any black dragons - good. She hated blacks. "My name is Kothar Aryte. I am pleased to meet you all and I hope we will work well together when defeating the Draconians."

Ominak falls over when the first dragon arrived and made the ground shake. He spits out the mouthful of grass and gets back to his feel, brushing himself off.

that was embarrassing...

No sooner had he though this, there where more dragons that landed, causing the ground to shake. He grabs onto Irthos's side and waits for it to stop. He then hears voices of both dragon and humanoid. He walks around Irthos and stands in veiw of the other dragons.

There are alot of sparkle dragons here. And a few color ones...

He clears his throat, thinking of what to say.

"....Hi. I'm Ominak..and this is Irthos, my partner..."

Irthos bows her head, then glances at the group of dragons, studying them silently. Her eyes fall on the Blue that seemed to be badly faking happiness. She tilts her head.

I wonder why he's being hostile...we've only met...

Rame seemed even happier and thicker than usual, and that was saying something.

"We're off to save the world, how fun is that, right Rise?" he asked, apparently unaware of the general consensus that one would have to work to be an international hero. Rise sighed and leaned his forehead against his dragon's coppery-green scales, regretting (as he often did) his decision to follow through with his childhood ambitions. If there was a next time he was just going to go and be a carpenter or something.

"I don't think 'fun' is quite the word I would use."

"Yeah, but you don't ever use the word 'fun' anyway so your opinion doesn't count."

"Does my opinion ever reach your brain anyway? Look, we're almost there - see the other dragons?" Rise snorted and tried to change the subject, wrapping his arms more comfortably around Rame's neck and nudging him in the side. The dragon grunted and squinted down, a disgusted hiss leaving his throat as he began to slowly descend.

"Red and blue dragons," he growled. "What a pain in the -"

"Just be civil," Rise snapped, burying his face into his sleeve as he spoke and making his words muffled. "Not that you ever are, but at least make an attempt."

"No."

"So much for that, then."

"You can't tell me what to do, fleshy meaty midget that you are!"

"I'm your rider, you plank!" Rise protested, apparently unaware that Rame's feet were already firmly on solid ground and he was in full earshot of everyone else. "I can tell you to do whatever!"

"You can, but I won't~" Rame sing-songed, twitching his shoulderblade and knocking Rise off his back with surprising experience and turning to address everyone else. "Don't listen to Rise, he's just chronically grumpy. He won't get over it."

Rise bounced back up onto his feet and put his hands in his hips, glaring up at his copper dragon with as much venom as one covered in dust and dirt can muster (a surprisingly large amount). "No, you're just an idiot!"

"I know you are, but what am I?"

"Shut UP!"

Rasvim eyed the Bronze from the corner of his yellow eye, frowning. Silly creature, staring at him. She looked young, too. She would learn better than to disrespect her elders like that soon enough. He snorted, sparks crackling from his nostrils and arcing along his horns with a dull blue-tinted glow. He curled his tail loosely around Nava, lowering his head.

He looked away from the Bronze to examine the others that were there. A Red with odd mechanical parts - female. He snorted and gave her a nasty look. A gold - another female. Metallics... feh. A silver - yet another female! And a metallic as well. A white... He didn't mind those much, didn't see them really where he'd come from. A Brass... He growled in a low voice. He disliked Brass dragons. The young ones were always trying to force him out of his territory back home. He had killed a few, chased the rest off. Fools. A Green... He didn't dislike them as much as Reds.

And lastly, a Copper had just arrived. He snorted again. Metallics! He laid his chin in the grass.

Nava wasn't really paying attention to the other dragons. She was watching the sky.

"When will we be off? I want to kill some Draconians. Rasvim tells me they're very ugly, you know." She said, a faint smile on her lips.

Starlight noticed the Red dragon in particular seemed peculiar. It was as if part of her was reconstructed mechanically. She seemed impressed by the craftsmanship, but wondered what happened to require it. Then something happened that allowed her to figure it out.

The Red dragon was staring at her, with a look and pose ripe for murder. Starlight didn't recognize this dragon herself, but it was pretty obvious now that the Red had had history with at least some Silver dragon, and that her presence brought back those memories. The Red's rider seemed to manage to calm her down, at least for now, but Star knew she had to be wary. She decided to try to distance herself from whatever it was that seemed to infuriate the Red. She sat down on the ground and tried speaking with her.

"Hello there, miss. You and your human look quite lovely. I'm impressed with your bond and displayed grit in the face of great challenges. You seem like you would make an impressive teammate for this endeavor."

Meanwhile, Tark crawled out from Starlight's paw and climbed up onto her head, sitting down on her snout and laying back between her eyes. He tried to relax, despite the great challenges he knew faced them all.

"This is so quiet..." Zruka thought. Kotan heard it and started laughing, first normally, then uncontrollably. "What?"

"Only you to say something like that," Kotan replied. Trying to control the laughing, he laid back to Zruka's belly and looked around. "You know why we're just sitting here doing nothing?"

"Well, according to legend, there are supposed to be ten dragons and ten riders, but there's only... seven, eight with us of each. I guess we are waiting for them," was Zruka's answer. Kotan yawned.

"Tell me more about this legend," he started, to keep both entertained.

Storm looked around the dragons, noting a silver, Starlight, was it? talking to her human. She could deal with silvers, well, they might even get to know each other. Hah. And.. a red. A red. Definitely one to stay away from. And the others, a bronze, gold, blue.. ah, she'd be fine.

You fine just standing there, you can sit down, you know. Valkyrie looked up at Storm.

Huh? Oh, no, I'll be fine. We're going to get moving or something, soon, anyways. But.. thanks for asking. Storm flicked her tail and looked at the skies again, maybe to spot one of the others.

"Don't kid yourself, unlike you I don't insult everything it means to be a dragon and submit myself to a human master. He rides upon me because I grant him such." She hissed in response to the silver's attempts to be kind. A slight gust blew through the gears and pieces of her metal leg and causes a low whistle, but it only lasted a second.

Meanwhile, still tired from the trip Jonas had laid himself down upon the grass and fallen asleep again.

The black dragon mercilessly powered through the air, his carbon-black scales streamlined to provide less resistance whilst soaring through the skies. The sail along his neck cut through the air acting as a rudder, directing him towards his final destination.

His rider was pressed firm against his body, the air currents pressing him against the pure black scales which ran across the upper half of the dragon's entire body.

"So I suppose we're nearly there then?" the rider asked.

"Yeah," the black dragon snorted. "There's a whole host of dragons down there, including one of those stuck up, arrogant, filthy gree-"

Wolf cut the dragon off mid-sentence.

"You know your manners better than that," the elf said, his voice almost patronising the dragon.

The pair circled overhead, scanning the area for an ideal landing spot. The others weren't leaving much room for the pair to land in. Wolf gave a smug smile as Cil folded in his massive wings.

Like a bullet, the dragon shot towards the ground, speed increasing for every few metres the pair descended. Cil opened his large, padded feet wide, claws outstretched.

Accompanied with a crashing noise, the pair slammed into the ground unharmed. The dragon's constant practise and oversized, padded feet assisted greatly in breaking the fall; the rest of the impact was absorbed by the dragon's muscular legs.

Wolf slid down the dragon's right side casually before flicking his fringe out of his eyes using one of his index fingers. Wolf smiled pleasantly to greet the entourage of riders assembled before himself. Cil just grunted and made himself comfortable. There really wasn't much else to do unless it involved, you know, interacting with another being.

Starlight began to chuckle, seeming amused by the Red's accusations. "Unlike me? I'm afraid you must have me confused with someone else. If that's the way you feel, we may be more alike than you realize." She grabbed back a hold of Tark with her paw, who unsuccessfully tried to scamper back along her forehead to avoid it. "In fact, it's more like the other way around," Star continued, giving her human a slurp along his head and neck with her tongue. "He's here because I enjoy the company, nothing more." Tark rubbed his face with his hand and shook it, but only to get some of the slime off, not to object.

Then Star did something he totally didn't expect or prepare for. She held him out at arm's length, up to the Red dragon, and opened her paw completely, saying, "But if you don't believe me, go ask him yourself." Star seemed to be trying to display a certain level of trust, but this act totally terrified Tark. He felt totally exposed to a dragon whose species was known to eat humans on a whim... as if he was an offering or sacrifice... Tark quickly laid down along her paw and wrapped his arms around her claws, staring up at the Red fearfully. "Meeep! Master Starlight, what are you doing?"

Ominak is toppled to the ground once more when the latest dragon appeared. He spits out grass once more and gets back to his feet.

God damn it.

Irthos let's out a muffled chuckle, trying to hide the fact that she was laughing. He turns to her and puffs out his cheeks.

"Stop laughing at me."

Irthos nods, clearing her throat. She then looks up at the rest of the dragons. She nods, getting up from where she laid.

"Seems we are all here...guess it's time to move out."

Ominak nods, brushing himself off.

"We'll be going to the nearby mountains...so I hope everyone has warm clothing."

After saying that, he walks over to Irthos and climbs onto her with practised ease, settling himself on the saddle and strapping himself in. He lifts up his weapon that he laid on Irthos's back and slide it into a special holder on his back.

His weapon was a crude spear of sorts with blood stains on the blade.

Ominak looks over at the rest of the dragons.

"You ready?"

"Oh boy! When do you think we'll find some Draconians?" Nava purred, clambering onto Rasvim's back. She slid into the saddle strapped to the blue dragon's back, tying her feet in with a pair of leather straps.

Rasvim let his wings snap open with a loud flap, the yellow-webbed membranes stretched tight between the finger-like wing supports. With one loud beat, he was in the air.

"Ready!" Both rider and dragon called together. Nava waved the piked that was chained to Rasvim's leather saddle in the air, her blonde hair flowing behind her. Rasvim let a few blue-tinted bolts of electricity arc along his sharp teeth and spines, flashing off his horn to disappear into the cool air.
