The dominant grassy vegetation makes this area seem quite plain at first but upon closer examination, various scorch marks and patches of dead and damaged grass make evident the popularity of this particular grassland for Pokémon battles. The vast, open territory is cut into two main segments by a deep river which opens out in to a vast lake. In tandem, the grassy expanse and lake means all Pokémon species are comfortable battling, suffering no penalties to any move. On the other hand, the bland nature of the environment means that no Pokémon gains any extra advantages due to the terrain, either.

Round 12 Begin!

Now faster once more than her opponent, Lady Rainicorn opens her mouth wide and belches up yet another pulse of draconic energy, rippling and warping the water around it as it hurtles at Elric, smacking into his side and exploding in a pulse of energy. He frowns, then swims towards her, passing through the shield with ease; he smashes into her side and begins flailing at her, only interrupted when she fires off another Dragon Pulse, hurling him back out of her shield. Straight away, he darts back in and resumes his barrage; Rainicorn charges up another Dragon Pulse, firing it off and hurling him away, but as it turns out, the effort is just too much for her. Her shield flickers and vanishes, and her immobile form begins to sink; Elric quickly darts to her and lifts her to the surface, heaving her onto the shore for her trainer to recall.

Round 13 Begin!

Nyuu's replacement is a Charmander, an odd choice against the water-type Horsea, one would think. It can only be assumed he has a plan.

Still, Elric doesn't seem to be about to do much for a while. Instead, he stays perfectly still in the water, allowing his body to run its natural recovery processes unhindered. As he feels his tiredness fading away, Flicker prepares for the same move the Lady Rainicorn was so fond of: opening his mouth wide, he produces a rippling pulse of draconic energy, which hurtles unhindered through air and water to strike Elric directly, imploding onto him on impact.

Becoming rather sick of that move now, Elric concentrates hard. His eyes take on a harsh red glow, and Flicker gasps as he loses the ability to use his previous teqhnique. He growls, and weighs up his options: dive into the water and attack, or remain on land. He opts for the latter, since he could easily die should his flame go out; he sits down on the ground, watching as the grass around him begins to turn brown from his radiated heat. Meanwhile, Elric uses the time to get some more rest.

Round 14 Begin!

Elric, still at hyper-speed but visibly flagging, turns away from Flicker and suddenly dives underwater. He quickly swims down as deep as he can, at the same time beginning to induce a healing trance. A pink aura begins to form around him, and suddenly he simply seems to slip into unconsciousness; as easy, he thinks just before he faints, as going to sleep. His unconscious form floats quickly to the surface, the referee pronounces him unable to battle, and his trainer recalls him, looking furious at himself for not realizing earlier.

Suddenly, as he wonders what's going on, Flicker finds himself with the ability to use his sealed-off move once more; he wonders vaguely if it has something to do with his opponent having fainted.

Round 15 Begin!

The next and final Pokémon to emerge onto this field is another Charmander, looking identical to the one already on the field. The two glare at each other, each with the feeling of looking in a mirror.

One of the Charmander - the one Nyuu had already sent out - breaks the glare, turning away from her opponent to begin a move. She begins an ancient dance, darting around and twirling and occasionally sharpening her claws against one another. She continues in this vein for a good few minutes, while Mars looks idly on, sharpening his claws against one another. By the time she's finished, she's panting and somewhat winded, but feels power coursing through her; Mars, meanwhile, has successfully honed his claws to a fine point.

Flicker leaps forward, claws and fangs bared in a deadly show of force. Mars completely fails to react, though, watching her movements to the millimetre even as her fake slash passes in front of his face. She growls for a second more, but then calms down, looking dejected; this is not how a show of force is meant to go. Instead, she simply turns her tail towards him and - with rapid and expert manupulation of chemicals in her body - begins burning something pretty toxic in her tail-flame; a thich, horribly noxious smoke begins to issue forth, and Mars ends up inhaling it, which proves to be the thing that finally breaks his expressionless mask. He coughs and chokes as the dark cloud expands all around him, restricting his breathing and making him feel horribly, violently sick. Out of sheer instinct, he begins to do the very same dance as she had done earlier, and it has a very useful effect: the smoke begins to swirl around in time with the dancing, slowly dissipating as he twirls. Within a few minutes, the smoke is thin enough that it's barely noticable, and he stops dancing, doing his best to resume his stillness once more.

Within a few seconds, though, it's clear it's not to be. He growls, and suddenly thrusts his arm forward dramatically; raising it to the sky, he tries as hard as he can to manipulate the very earth. The ground under Flicker begins to bulge and tremble, and as she looks on in confusion, it suddenly explodes beneath her. Sharp rocks fly up out of the earth and slice painfully into her sides, hurling themselves into the air and then falling back onto her, leaving her trapped momentarily beneath them; she roars and, with all her strength, heaves herself out of her prison, now glaring at Mars with almost pure hatred. She simply stands there, quivering, for a few seconds, but then the flame on her tail begins to expand; it leaps within the space of a few seconds to almost the size of the rest of her body. She opens her mouth wide and spews out a massive tongue of crimson flames, burning up everything in their path and engulfing Mars; it even continues further to strike the river, boiling the water even as it extinguishes. Mars hisses, the flames burning even his heat-resistant hide, and glares at Flicker until she ceases the attack; clamping her mouth closed, she cuts off the fire, leaving a massive trail of burned-black and on-fire grass, and leaving her flame noticably smaller even than when she began.

Round 16 Begin!

As the round begins, the two Charmander continue glaring at each other for a good few seconds. A subtle cough from the trainers reminds them that they're meant to be in a battle; Mars is first to respond, launching into an old dance, passed down through his tribe for millenia. He twirls and leaps, and Flicker looks on in surprise: she too knows the dance. She begins the same dance herself, though the version taught to young females rather than young males; the two continue their dance for a few minutes, before coming to a halt, breathing heavily, and staring in surprise at one another, wondering just what it means.

Flicker's eyes flash a bright green, and a shimmering green haze begins to materialize in the air around her. It quickly solidifies into a dome, about an inch thick, translucent green - extending underground too, as it happens. Mars, meanwhile, scrabbles madly at the ground, his stubby claws quickly slicing through the ground. He disappears underground and tunnels towards her, but the spherical shield prevents him from getting close enough to attack; he surfaces, unable to perform his commands, and she lets her shield drop.

With a look of apology on his face, Mars causes his skin to heat up drastically, stoking both his internal and external fire. He darts towards Flicker and tackles her lightly, the heat searing her skin just a little; he moves quickly away before he can hurt her too much, and mutters an apology. She, too, looks apologetic as she raises her hand, throwing it upwards in a dramatic motion: the ground beneath Flicker begins to bulge and, like before, rocks heave themselves out, slicing into his skin before burying him under their weight. He struggles out, looking at her sadly, and she mouths an apology to him as the round draws to an end.

Flicker, go ahead and Dragon Dance to match your speeds again. Then, use a Rock Slide if Mars is above ground and can be hit, Chill if he is above ground protecting, and Protect if he's underground. Finally, use a Rock Tomb if Mars is above ground and not protecting, Chill if he's above ground and protecting, or Protect if he's about to surface.

(if the "is not protecting" commands aren't allowed, simplify the orders to dragon dance ~ rock slide / chill ~ rock tomb / chill)

On the first round, set up a Reflect to reduce damage from the incoming attacks. It may be preferable to do some damage now. If the Rock Slide attack hits you, use Counter, otherwise you should use Toxic. On the next round again, Counter if Rock Tomb hits. If it misses, you should consider using Focus Punch.

Round 17 Begin!

Moving quickly, Mars concentrates his energy carefully. His eyes take on a pale green glow as a shield, also pale green in color, materializes in the air around him. He grins, now protected in part from incoming attacks, and waits for his opponent to make a move, which quickly occurs: Flicker begins one of her dances again, showing off as much as she can the way her scales glitter in the sunlight.

Suddenly stopping dancing, she grins widely, thrusting her palm towards him in a dramatic gesture. The ground, again, begins to bulge, then the ground shreds itself up to hurl rocks at Mars; they slice into his skin and cause him to sting badly, but don't seem nearly as bad as before. As they drop to the ground, a bright red glow begins to spread from the wounds; when he's completely covered, he runs forward at top speed, swinging his fist into Flicker's stomach with a massive amount of force; as she doubles over, wheezing, he runs back, getting away from her before she can easily retaliate.

When she gets back upright, the round proceeds in a very similar manner, with the exception of the tears streaming down her face; she raises her hand shakily and the ground deforms, disgorging sharp-edged rocks to slice his skin some more. He grimaces, then allows the red glow to engulf him once more; as he tears towards her, she turns and attempts to flee, and he catches up to her, slamming a fist into her lower back. She goes down like a ton of bricks, and he returns to the safety of his shield.
