• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Ghosts

haha thanks castform :J

Chimera they don't exist, however cool they might be. And I note the banette in your sig, which I find amusing in this thread.

I don't see why I should waste my time researching ghosts if I ever hear voices or get dust on my camera.

I am very interested in the paranormal and have several interesting stories to tell, if anyone cares.

It's very real, but ghosts don't typically hang around cemataries as much, they typically hang aroung where they died, or something they were very attached to.
My suggestion would be to go on a tour thorugh an insane assylum(highly recomended)/ historical building/ war site/etc.If you want to get more readings. There is lots of paranormal activity in places like that.
I know a lot about this stuff, I have a really close friend who can see (for lack of better discription) the paranormal world. And we've been sort of researching it for a long time.

Ghosts definitely don't exist. They have no logical explanation; thus they have no way to exist.

For one: levitating. Some ghosts do. They're probably lighter than air, as they are just trickery of light. One point for the fact that they don't exist.
1:0

For two: going through solid objects. They would have to seperate their own cells to do this, thus destroying themselves and disappearing. Another point that they're false.
EDIT: opaltiger says something about this being possible, however, so it's a tie here. One point for each.
2:1

For three: noises coming out of nowhere. Noises are vibrating things, and could easily be caused by other moving objects.
3:1

Conclusion: It is very unlikely that ghosts exist.

And if you do think they exist, it's very likely that it was a dream. You remembered it, and over time, began to believe that it was true.

There are many unexplained things in the world, so the exsistence of ghosts is entirely possible. Despite that possibility, I see no reason not to believe that there is nothing beyond death. You live, you die, and you rot in the ground. It doesn't need to be any more complicated than that. (Paranormal stories and ghosts are really cool though)

Goddammit, I just typed out my story, it was like 300 words, and then I hit the back button on my mouse by mistake. someone remind me tomorrow or something.

I'll type a much less intense and much shorter story now instead.

I once was spending the night at a friend's house when I woke up just in time to hear a scream and witness about 3 doors slamming around his basement and generally waking up everyone in the house. I was then shoved forward off the bed like a ragdoll and slammed into the floor.

Didn't sleep at his house again for like 6 weeks.

Fuck, my old post was my most terrifying experience. Stupid back button. But I've had several paranormal experince. My friend and I go go ghost hunting from time to time.
(Yes, this IS a true story. So don't go accusing me of lying.)

not necessarily! it is theoretically possible for a solid object to pass through another solid object.

We have a large amount of people who might take you seriously opal, those who don't know the probabilities of the quantum mechanics behind that.

@PK: Sleep disorientation. I've 'lurched' out of bed in one direction multiple times, and it sure felt like being thrown, because as far as my half-conscious brain knew, that ground was most assuredly the wall across the room. The doors etc. is easily air-conditioning or fan pressure differences, because when one door slams, it cuts off the airflow, which can cause others to do the same. Happens a lot in the summer when we have windows open and fans on.

Quite possible. The only thing I can't fully explain is the doors, and that could have been the wind. It's not my best experience. xD

Huh. I just thought I heard what sounded like a young girl sighing contentedly right next to me, but no-one was in the room.Must've been someone outside; my window is wide open and right above me.

I have no idea what to think about ghosts.
