• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Hardest Final Bosses in video games!

That still doesn't necessarily make it overrated. Plus, it's really easier said than done. The only shmup I've ever completely memorized to the point where I don't die anymore was Ikaruga. And it takes years. Even for a game as easy as that.

((Nereid)), in Tales of Eternia/Destiny II, on Mania/Hardcore difficulty. She's fairly difficult on any other difficulty though, what with her ability to cast two spells at once, and even if she gets hit, the other spell will continue to cast, but at Level 250, massive herb spamming on my party, and all of the best equipment, I think it took me about 15 minutes just to drain 100,000 HP off of her 550,000. I think she used Eternal Finality at least 7 times when I took her on Mania for the first time the today, and she was constantly using Fearful Flare, Summon Pluto, or Nihilistic Night, and at one point, she went so far as to use the Dual the Sun spell extensions and heal herself, much to my dismay ;_; The fight took me about 45 minutes. I'm not doing that again, and frankly, I'm scared to even try fighting Dhaos/Sekundes on Hard.

Not the final boss but on hard/intense duon is a bastard on boss battles and almost always knocks me out.

If you have someone who can reflect/absorb projectiles, then he can be made a lot easier.

Thought of another one: Mecha Sonic from Sonic 3 and Knuckles, in Knuckles' story. When he goes super, not only do you have to worry about him shooting/dive-bombing you, but you have a very limited attack opportunity when he tries to go back to the Master Emerald. Sure, if you have good timing and you're fast, you can take him out quickly, but if you're like me and lack those... he's a fricking pain!

Well, aside from what Exo-Raikou said, characters with projectiles also make the battle a whole lot easier. Otherwise, you can get behind (or, alternately, on top of) Duon and, when he fires those missiles (from the pink side) they'll ram into him and do major damage, and not only that, he'll make no attempt to dodge them. Though if you're on top of Duon rather than behind, they're likely to hit you as well. However, when you're on top he'll take more damage from your Down Smash (due to being hit from all sides), and he can't (?) shake you off with his spinning attack, so try to be behind him when the missiles strike and on top when you attack.

Geez, I didn't mean for it to be this long.

But almost all of the final bosses in the early Sonic games were like that - very quick attacks and little opportunity to get hits in. However, remember that there is one thing that makes this one fight easier than all of the other final bosses of that era: YOU ACTUALLY HAVE RINGS.

Fair point. The exception was that giant Eggman Robot in Tails' story of the same game: While you had no rings, you could hover over the laser shots easily, and get a hit in before it starts to charge. Getting attacks in was pretty simple.

Kurt Ziza from KH1. man, that battle is frustrating...

And, don't forger Seth from Street Fighter IV. Battling him makes you never want to hear "SONIC BOOM!" again...

Maybe it's just me, but Mega Man 9's final boss is currently causing me to tear my hair out.

It's that damn first phase with the eggs. I've always been terrible with timing/precision bosses, and this combines the two. Argh...And it doesn't help that you have to kill all 8 robot masters again if you blow all your lives there.

I might be the only one who had trouble with Metal Gear REX. It took me three days to beat it. Then I replayed it and beat it almost immediately. I guess it's just getting the timing down, amirite?

Darkrai = Simplistic as Pika/Torch team
Tabuu = Shield dodging wave pulses moderatly easy.
Gannon from TP = Easy.
Jyggalag SI Elder Scrolls = Depressingly Easy (PS3 ftf)
Bowser/Boswer Jr. NSM = Fail.
All out ATV race on Riptide in Motorstorm Pacific Rift = That's a freaking challenge, damn ATVs!

Indalecio in Star Ocean The Second Story, with his limiter turned off. Limiter Off Indalecio is so extremely powerful, he'll give maxed Level 255 characters with all of the Cave of Trials equipment some hell. Although, the fact that I've been playing with just Claude and Rena doesn't exactly help my cause...

Hey did anyone say thae last challenge in Super Smash Bros, Melee. Mewtwo + Ganondorf + Gigabowser? That was crazy hard.

Eh. Jigglypuff made it kinda easy, just spam Rest inside Giga Bowser and pound on Mewtwo and Gannondorf seperately. But it was tough.

Maybe it's just me, but it took me forever to beat Nahatomb in Klonoa Wii, the first form is a piece of cake, but the second is bloody painful because of the slippery floor, and I died so many times on the third form falling down the holes trying to throw the enemies into the Moon Cannons.
