• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Idea Center: Part Deuce

I think we need more details than this. And proper capitalization and puntuation.

Ok details I am Alex a hero who woke up as a Squirtle and is now powerless and almost dies but fends off the enemy weakened he faints and gets found by the posting partner I also think i'll play my herous three if thats ok Monica the Bulbosaur and Max the Charmander.

P.S. I dont want to start as three i mean find them.

Normally I would just say "Kill them anyway! :D" because I am a sadistic D&D DM, but then there's the potential for people bitching... but really if you join a Hunger Games RP you know most of the tributes die, so.

I say have the DM/a couple of people who read/are in the RP but don't play tributes decide if something kills a character, myself. Like a council.

Also making it an AU from the real events of the series would be neat; that way we can try and plot to take the thing down if we want O:

Kill all the tributes!

Nah, what I meant was that people might just try to avoid other characters since they want to live. Like I did in your Battle Royale RP like five years ago. No character interaction tends to kill RPs .o.

Ok i think it would be easy to just post the opening post in the roleplay im makeing.

Alex woke up in a strange house, after searching for a while he found a mirror he noticed a very strange aspect, he was a Squirtle "Agh" he screamed knowing noone could hearhim but still decided to get this out "why am i a Squirtle"? After searching he found an exit, a window, he strugled and soon got out through the window. He ran through the forest not knowing, or caring, where he was going he ran into a Lucario but it had a red chard where its chest spike should be. It started attacking Alex Alex remembered his fight training and was spared but one strong punch knocked him out.

Thats my opening post anyone want to RP?

That's what arena effects are for :D

Hrm how about anyone who is interested, VM me and we can set up a temp social group/chatroom or something to plan? Don't wanna sticky up the works in this thread.

Would anyone be able to have their own characters? Playing those three would just seem like you are the only on in the RP, and being only one person in a roleplay is a no.

To tell you the truth...this RP sounds kind of bad. First off, you have many grammar errors in it, making someone strain their eyes by reading it. Second, the plot isn't, well, even a plot. It's just a beginning, with nothing for them to do afterwards. This could not be an RP...

I am thinking about making a MLP roleplay. I have absolutely no plot idea though, just that it will be much later than Twilight and friends's time and feature brand new ponies.

First off anyone could be whoever they want, second its the first adventure of many for my characters, third the adventure could be anything at all we could find Monica, and Max, or whatever, fourth my grammer was bad because I was tired and being lazy (lol). Any more questions?

Alex, no one would join if there was no definite plot of the story. It wouldn't seem appealing to anyone...

Leon, like Alex's idea, yours doesn't sound so appealing. Yeah, there are MLP fans that RP on here and would love an MLP RP, but with no plot, no one would want to join.

For both of you, the plot is what really makes an RP, and the plot will decide whether it'll be good or bad.

Actually my plot is to find Alex'es friends how about that?

It still isn't much of a plot. If the whole plot of it is to find his friends, you might as well write a book. The plot needs to be large, but flexible.

Well there is also a bunch of fights, adventures, and kills before, and after we find them until everyone thinks its a good time to stop.

Actually, what I was thinking was that there isn't really room for anyone else, alex. Your story is really centered on your own characters; your main character finding his friends. If you're playing all three of the important characters, what do you need other people for? RPs need two or more people to work, otherwise it's.. not an RP.

One person playing all the important characters doesn't necessarily mean the RP won't go anywhere, but there isn't much of anything for anyone else to do here.

Actually my plot is to find Alex'es friends how about that?

If you'd still be playing his friends, it probably wouldn't be much fun for anyone involved, yourself included; generally, if one person is controlling all the plot-important characters, he/she will end up directing it specifically the way he/she wants, and in doing so it can piss off the other players, because their input is disregarded. And eventually everyone will probably get pissed at the railroading and quit/rage about it, which would suck for you.

Besides, you know, the relatively boring plot. It could be good if you added to it; why are we looking for his friends? What happened to make them separated? Is there a Big Bad that can only be defeated if the three chosen heroes are gathered? (okay, never mind, don't do that one, it's very clichéd)

Actually Monica, and Max arent the important characters they just stay at base, and besides anyone can be Monica or Max if they want. Really it revolves around the posting partner(s) and Alex. Also Alex will easily put the needs of others in front of his or his friends.

That's even worse. You're making YOUR character THE character. You're only having your character as the only main character, without anyone else's character being important at all.

Do you even read what I post, I wrote everyone is evenly important, if it seemed like I made my guy important by only posting my name its not like I know who they want to be, im not a psychic type pokemon.

... Either way, the plot is still kind of dead. Other than some rescue mission, there isn't really much to it. I mean, that's all you've told us; no mysterious force behind it, no reason whatsoever as to why they were kidnapped.

*Bluntness warning*

Not to mention that, even if it were to start, how would the other players even relate at all to your character's troubles? How would they even know- heck, even care- that your friends were taken? You haven't told us how other players' characters even tie into this. I mean, it's kind of unrealistic for some Pokemon to just fall from the sky and decide to help when they got their own problems to deal with. Overall, the idea is still undeveloped and very vague, and personally I don't see it being a very entertaining roleplay. It needs some work.

Ok how about this the group needs the combined strengh of everyone they can get, because the villian that turned them into pokemon wants to capture, and turture, every pokemon on the pokemon world. How's that for a reason to help?

Seems pretty cliched and unoriginal. Even then, there's still not enough of a plot, becuase we don't know anything about the villian, about the villian's past, or even why the characters would even band together when they could go with someone else.

I assure you, if you make a plot where people have to work together for some common goal? Most of your members will make characters who live to backstab each other, go off on their own and ensure it all dissolves into a huge, chaotic mess. Or maybe this is just the curse of Dreams of the Past. Which can be fun, but won't help the plot any if you don't take into account that things like that will happen.

As everyone else has noted, your plot is... incredibly bland. Even if it no longer has such a focus on your character, it wouldn't last long. RPs are driven forward by a combination of plot and character interaction, and as a GM you need to balance that for it to reach even a few pages of length. Because your RP will die. They tend to do that, and it is inevitable, but what matters is having fun for as long as you can until the end. An interesting plot and setting will assist in that goal greatly.
