Man wants to marry comic book character

Heh....heard about this. Odd....but if this becomes a law...I will die laughing.

The only way it should be able to become a law is if cartoons actually existed....

dude
that's awesome

...kids wouldn't work out though D:

also i kind of want to be Japanese they get away with being hilariously awesome

I don't see much difference.

Right now you throw around Japanese symbols in your signature to make it look "cool". If you were Japanese you would walk around wearing Engrish on your shirt to make yourself look "cool".

... Then again, Engrish is "hilariously awesome" in the sense that it is hilarious and awesome.

Ahahaha. That would be hilarious. But, you can't have children with a drawing D: (unless of course you DRAW them~). How can anyone fall in love with a fucking drawing? Also, a drawing can't give you a hug or any sort of contact of any kind so why would you MARRY one? D: And the Christians/Catholics/other god worshiping people would not allow it because they are boring, hell, Satanists would disapprove. Besides anyone who want's to marry a comic book character is retarded.

I usually don't have a problem with people loving fictional characters as long as they're not all 'omglol sasuke wa kawaii desu ^.^ BACK OFF HE'S MINE' about it (and that sort of thing is annoying when it's directed at real people too), but I'm not really sure how something like this would work out.

Granted, only a few people would be serious enough about loving a fictional character to want to marry them, but I can still think of a few fictional characters who a bunch of people would probably want to marry if it were legal. And, I mean, a fictional character can't exactly give consent to a relationship. Would you have to get the creator's approval or something? I just can't see this working out very well. :\

When I first clicked on this I thought it would be about a large, sweaty white man of forty in his mother's basement who wanted to marry, like Elektra or Catwoman or something. But this is entertaining as well. Carry on, Japanese dude, carry on.

...actually, given the fact that the article mentions that the guy can't be reached about it, and he could just be pulling people's legs, what scares me is that several of the signatures on the petition, at the very least, are probably the genuine article (as opposed to more leg-pulling).

I do wish they'd given the name of the lucky lady, though. Which manga-ka is going to be walking her down the aisle?

would multiple people be allowed to marry the same fictional character? if not, you'd have like ten thousand people wanting to marry Edward Cullen, or Harry Potter. :|

That brings up another interesting question - what if the character is already in a canon relationship with another fictional character? :p

Earlier this month, a woman addicted to manga put out an online message seeking to kill her parents for asking her to throw away comic books that filled up three rooms.

Prime Minister Taro Aso is an avid fan of manga and recently complained that he has been too busy to read comic books since taking office.

... ... those two sentences are probably more disturbing to me. Well, at least the first one. but how can anyone, even the Prime Minister of Japan, be too busy for a Manga a day? (it keeps MY crazies away, I know that.)
