It has been twenty years since Nightmare Moon returned and was defeated with the Elements of Harmony. The land of Equestia's knowledge about the mystical Elements has been hazy, but more substantial since then - the common Pony knows they exist at least, and are not just part of the old legends. And the six Ponies who wielded and represent them are known far and wide, hailed as heroes by all. There have been problems since then, of course, since as the rise and fall of Discord, but they were all quelled in due time by these brave Ponies.

Times have been quiet for a long while, and those six Ponies have moved on to quieter lives, though the bonds of friendship between them never broke. They sometimes appear at the Gala or other events, but otherwise keep to themselves.

But now, a shadow looms over Equestria. A ghostly black Alicorn with gleaming yellow eyes has appeared, wielding a great scythe with her magic. Ponykind does not know her name, only that she has been stealing away Ponies in the night, and they are never seen again. They call her the Reaper. When the country turned to the Elements of Harmony...they were gone without a trace. Where had they gone? Searches yielded nothing fruitful. And then the Princesses disappeared... Rumours sprung up of sightings of the Element-Weilders being spotted across the insurmountable Jivi Mountains.

It is now up to the common Ponies to send any willing to risk their lives to find the Elements, so they can again fight the darkness and drive it back.

A little info on the pony races, if you need help deciding which to be. Remember that any pony race can be whatever they want to be, but this is a guideline on what they can and can't do:

-Unicorns are the only pony race that can use magic, usually manifesting through telekinesis. Unicorn magic does take effort, though.
-Pegasus are, obviously, the only ones who can fly. They typically work with the weather, and are very fast.
-Earth ponies are the closest to "normal" ponies, though they have a special tie to nature. They often have "close to earth" jobs, like being farmers or animal caretakers.

In this 'verse, Seaponies do exist, but would be fairly impractical for use as player characters, due to the fins, but are permissible as being in backstories or as NPCs. They also look slightly different from G1 Seaponies, and use a more Hippocampus-like design.

Also, if you cannot think of any ideas, perhaps take a G1 Pony and spruce her (or him) up a bit! As Hasbro has lost the rights to (most) of these ponies, there is little to no chance of them appearing in-show in FiM, so you can make up your own characterization.

Appearance:

The first thing you should note about Rouge Dragon is that she's massive. Bigger than some stallions. Her eyes are golden yellow, and her mane is several shades of faded scarlet, in a layered pattern. Her body, too, is a noble dulled out red. Her horn is noticeably less kempt than most unicorns, giving the appearance that she generally doesn't care it's there at all.

Personality: Rouge operates under a strict code of “Do what’s right, not what’s lawful”. Unfortunately this does often put her on the wrong side of the law, though she’s managed to keep out of prison for the most part so far. She doesn’t mind, as long as she can help somepony out. Those who know her personally, however, know that she’s something of a cloudcuckoolander on the inside, and struggles keep her attention on things for long. Rouge has something of an affinity for fire, adoring fireworks and bombshell explosions, and practicing fire magic alongside her telekenesis in particular. Fire magic, in fact, is her favorite way to defend herself.

Rouge Dragon loves a good fight, and in fact is something of a blood knight. If she hears a fight, she is more than happy to jump in, whether she wins or loses. When asked about her tendencies, she proclaims proudly, “It’s fun!” and gives you a smile. She seems to get amused at simple things, like inherently funny words or awkward moments, and isn’t shy about showing her amusement. She can also be a little tactless, particularly when it comes to good news that others don’t want to talk about. Also, she is one for speed, always gotta move fast, more akin to a Pegasus than a unicorn.

History: Rouge lead a relatively plain life back in her hometown of Appleloosa. Her family acted as ambassadors to the buffalo tribes, and as a result she takes in some of their beliefs from spending a lot of time around them, while at the same time taking up work in the local apple orchards. Being one of the very few unicorn families in the town, magic was rather frowned upon as a means of working, so she neglected it for the most part, only using basic magic when she ran across things that she couldn‘t do with brawn… as well as a few experiments of her own that she performed while alone involving elemental magics, just to keep it moderate for when she really truly needed it. But she always felt something was missing in her life, amidst this simple existence. So she set off at a young age from Appleloosa, without even her cutie mark at first, and has traveled ever since, doing odd jobs in various cities around Equestria for spare bits.

It came to pass that she would be wandering through the town of Ponyville on the night of a particularly violent incident involving an argument and a bonfire starting to get out of control, dangerously close to spreading to nearby buildings. Ignoring the warnings of the guards on-scene, she ran up to the blaze. Being the curious soul she was, she had previously experimented with using magic to manipulate and create fire, and decided that now would be most likely the only opportunity she would get to test it. She poured all the power she had into her horn to divert the spreading fire away from the buildings, steering it instead into a nearby pond where it would be rendered harmless. It exhausted all her energy, and after she woke from unconsciousness, she decided that trying to do that outside of a dire emergency would probably be a bad idea. However, what she also noted, was that she had earned her cutie mark in her unconscious state. A noble dragon with a platinum sheen, contrasting with her red coat.

After spending a few weeks in recovery, Rouge learned of the recent disappearances in a newspaper. Indeed, that was when she decided she would go off to aid the group going to find the elements, to help to pick up the pieces. She knew something was off now, though she had not really known the scope of what was going on when it hadn’t affected her before.

Appearance: Her coat is a light blue. Her mane is a normal blue, which is long enough that it reaches to the bottom of her neck, and her mane curls at the bottom. Her tail is the same as her mane. Water Droplet is 4 feet tall, the size that medium sized ponies are. Her eyes are colored a brilliant shade of yellow. Her ears are sharper at the tip than most pony ears.

Personality: She is very studious. She is brave and very loyal to her friends and would fight to the very end.

Appearance:

Sin is a dark red Earth Pony with deep gray eyes. Her mane is long, thick and black, and so is her tail, though she keeps that bound up to stay out of her way. She wears a cocky grin quite often. Notably, she is somewhat smaller than most earth ponies.

Personality: Sin is calm, cool and collected at all times. True to her career, she wears a poker face like no other. She’s a smooth talker and an even smoother business owner; she knows the tricks of the trade to scam, backhand and under-the-table an unsuspecting fool. Gambling is a both fine art and a science, she firmly believes, and even those with the worst luck in the world can become great with a little precision. All the same, the greatest power can come toppling down… with the right strategy.

Sin is shamelessly, even famously flirtatious, but only to suit her own needs. She’ll play a stallion (or a mare) like a foal till she has their money and cut ’em loose, and wear a smile the whole time. She will even game her allies if she feels the need, only truly looking out for Number One, but if there’s one mare she won’t schmooze, it’s her sister.

History: Sin comes from a very… sleazy background. Everyone knows it. It’s an upbringing though, as Sin and her twin sister are quick to point out. She’s very well seen likely close to it all; gamblers, gangsters, seedy lowlives and whores, she’s lived a very colorful life. She wouldn’t call it a bad one if you asked her though. There was money, though where it came from was beyond her, and her and her sister were privileged. Therefore, she let her guard down.

When the pair were only thirteen, their father disappeared. He was presumed to be dead, and while Sin accepted it as part of life, Rebel refused to believe it and ran off, abandoning their crippled mother in her wake. Sin followed to try and bring her back, but simply wound up tangled in her twin’s web of problems from then on.

On the streets, Sin learned how to play it cool in the face of the pig. Learned how to lie to keep herself and Rebel alive, and gained a certain talent for scamming ponies out of their money and sensibilities, and for gambling. Eventually, she would squeak together enough to buy a building and set up a casino, entitled, appropriately enough, the Sin Wagon, and employed her sister as the lead dancer.

That’s where the pair remains now, happily raking in money from the gullible and drunk from all walks of life. Recently though, her sister has been one of the disappeared, and Sin desires more than anything to find her.

Other: In her spare time, Sin has become quite skilled at card games, and plays games frequently with professionals.

Appearance: Clear Skies without her cutie mark:

Clear Skies is a tall, skinny pegasus. Her coat is white, and her mane is a mixture of bright and baby blue. She has intense, bright blue eyes. Her wings are strong and large. Her normal expression is one of determination.

Personality: Clear Skies is a fiercely determined pony. She tends to be on the quieter side, but enjoys social gatherings. She is a highy artistic pegasus whose mind often drifts off into space when inspiration strikes. She has a tendancy to come off as rude, but in fact she is just uncomforable around others.

History: Clear Skies grew up in Cloudsdale as an orphan. She was very popular there, being a fast flier, but was not content with her life. When she grew old enough, she began to wander all over Equestria, clearing clouds and helping farmers. Clear Skies had always thought of earth ponies as "stupid" because they could not fly or do magic. This changed when she traveled to Fillydelphia to clear the skies for a unicorn--and-earth pony-only party. A storm was coming in, but she refused to accept help from the unicorns and earth ponies. Finally, a group of unicorns used their magic to lift an earth pony into the sky so that he could help Clear Skies with the clouds. Skies finally realised that earth ponies and unicorns had their own special talents and abilities.
However, it wasn't until later that Skies gained her cutie mark. She was enlisted to clear the skies for a party, but there were too many. This time, there was no one there to help her. Instead, she sculpten the clouds into beautiful, intricate statues and banners. The hosts of the party loved the new decorations, and Skies gained her cutie mark. ever since, she has worked sculpting clouds. She lives in the mountains, where she says she finds the most inspiration.

You should notice that her stature is where her neck is stretched out, having a hopeful and gleeful expression. Sky Glee's irises are a vibrant purple, and her coat is a bright yellow. Sky's mane and tail are a normal blue, with her mane's bangs brushed on the right side of her head. Her tail is short and her mane is longer. Her hat is exactly like Applejack's (But she doesn't know it).

Personality: Eager, optimistic and gleeful. She always looks at the brighter side of situations and is rarely sad. Since she never sees anything as bad (Unless it actually is REALLY bad), she'll never fear at the face of danger. (Basically acts like a toned-down Pinkie)

Their first major argument was about Wild- her father felt that they did not have the time and money to raise a filly, and it would be better for all concerned if they put her up for adoption. Her mother, however, maintained that this was terribly heartless, and if they were careful it would be completely possible to add a new member to the family. Although she eventually got her husband to reluctantly agree, the incident destabilized their relationship. When Wild was three, her parents split up.
Her mother took Wild and moved to Ponyville, where she took up restaurant ownership while garnering a number of starring community-theater roles. As Wild grew older, she encouraged her into acting, hoping that her daughter might become successful even if she hadn't managed it. However it soon became painfully clear that, by some twist of genetics, Wild Streak had not inherited the least trace of theatrical talent. Although disappointed, Mom was soon cheered by Wild's fascination and skill with artwork- which, after all, was not so terribly different.*

Appearance:
Event Horizon is a rather small pony, but is otherwise healthy aside from her eyes showing signs of sleeplessness. Her primary colour is a dark shade of gray, becoming even darker down her legs black down her legs in a dripping, paint-like fashion with her hooves being black. She's got a short muzzle and generally looks a bit boyish. Her mane is bright magenta and/or pink and is long and flowing, curling at the tips. Much contrasting with her otherwise tomboyish behaviour the mane looks as if great care has been taken in conditioning it.
She can often be found wearing square rimless reading glasses.

[Sylph]

Name: High Moon
Gender: Female

Dark nay blue body with a silver mane and tail streaked with a lighter blue, her eyes are a deep brown and often found to either sport silver bangles around her hooves, on her ears or around her neck. When on the town, she carries a bag hung off her wing with mystery books and writing supplies, either looking for supplies to restock her tower or in need of food. On her flank is a silver moon cloaked in black clouds that cascades down to the bottom of her flank and will be found either wearing a neutral expression or one of deep thought when walking. When in flight, she can be seen with a peaceful expression and prefers her hair to be unrestrained and billow behind her like a sliver cloud set against the night sky.

On a closer look, one may see the faint smudges of ink on her hooves from slightly spills from her inkwell when writing her stories up in her tower and bags under her eyes when she is walking out in the day.

Cutie Mark (And Meaning): A silver moon cloaked in dark clouds. Upon acquiring her mark, she was flying the night skies over the village below when the night was at its darkest with the new moon. Cloaked in complete darkness, she found that she could navigate the sky with ease using the stars as her guide and the sounds of the night animals below to warn her of trees and water. Resting on a rock near a lake, she watched as the timid night animals made their rounds with little idea that she was watching them silently from her perch. It was upon that night that she reflected upon herself and realized her skills at night flight and slipping through the shadows of the world around her with little hint of her presence on others nearby.

Only when she returned to her cloud home did she see her mark on her flank in a mirror. Overjoyed with this notion, it didn't take her long to find a use for her night-based skills as the village watchmen to ensure none of the animals travelled to far into the town and caused mischief to the sleeping Fillies and Colts. She will often be caught staring at the sky above and watching the stars shift overhead when nights become slow and calm.

Personality: She is rather calm and often referred to as 'stoic' in nature, usually by those that only see her once in a while when she's either gathering supplies for her tower or when she talks a nightly flight over the sleepy village when she feels the need to spread her wings. To those however that invade her tower on a regular bases would see her more 'emotional' side and the flares of silliness that comes from her. She is quiet wise for her age and is one to give advice to those that ask for it, listen to their problems and comfort when it is needed. he loves to draw in her spare time and write stories in her tower of things she has seen and ideas that come to her in dreams.

Keeping to herself by choice, she often is lonely when watching the ponies below from her tower and finds herself prone to awkward shyness when faced with a group of ponies all at once that leaves her to come off as cold and talkative. Deep down she is quite friendly and has accepted that she may have to go quite a few cycles before finding the courage to trust anyone enough to show her true heart feelings.

Occupation: Night Watchmen officially, Astronomer and down-right telescope abuser un-officially. At times she also acts as a un-official council to Ponies that seek out advice and a calm ear to talk too about their problems.

History: Raised by a single mother, she grew up faster than most due to the added responsibility set on her shoulders. Working hard through her school and keeping an eye on her ever growing brother, she did what most eldest children would do to help their parent in times of stress. She may have not been the most organized filly, but she did have a knack of knowing where everything was in her chaotic mess that was her room.

Though she won't admit it, there was one lasting effect that stayed with her since a young pony when her father flew out on them. She has always been lacking in the 'trust' department, never wanting to let anyone get too close to start any sort of romantic connection, and even creating friendships were a task for her when she experienced a rough patch of fillies that would pull her around like a puppet on strings. After having enough of being used as a puppet, she cut herself free and would start staying to herself and merely watch the other young ones frolic with amusement. She would hide herself away in libraries to read fantasy and mystery books, playing games with herself and keeping herself at a distance to watch others silently like a shadow on a wall. When she did eventually make some friends, she was weary of them at first, slowly letting her guard down around them enough to allow herself to smile around them.

As she aged, growing more into herself and filling herself with more confidence with experience from her new friends, she would find herself partaking in some of their games, and was content to watch them being happy when they went out to find their way in life. After they all parted ways to do what they were meant to do, she found herself alone once more and fell back into a silence.

Little after her cutie mark appeared, she found herself a home on the ground consisting in a tower that was usually only used as a watchtower for those on shift. Taking over the job, she moved her belongings into the tower's highest room and made herself a home there. She can often be found asleep in the day and is rather...displeased when awaken from her slumber needlessly. There are those that could get away with this, but those ponies are few and far between.

During her time in the tower, she has witnessed many things in the village and prides herself on discovering the secrets of those she watches over when they pass under her tower window. With each secret she learns, a new twist in her stories is made under different names and appearances.

Hobbies: Likes to watch the stars, the town when it sleeps and listening to the gossip from other ponies as they walk past her tower. She also loves murder mystery books and displaying her knack for flying at night with barely a whisper of sound from her as she stalks through the shadows of the night.

She also enjoys playing games with her friends, from role-playing to table top and video games.

Favorite Food: Apples. She likes to eat apples, all of them. Every last one. Apples can be used to bribe her, gain her favour or to make her forgive you if you pissed her off.

Favorite Color: Blue, Purple and Silver.

Other: She has a younger brother by the name of Pure Strain and lived with him and their mother in their little cloud home. Her childhood was all that eventful when you ask her, and doesn't seem to mind being raised by a single mother after her father flew out on them at a young age. Her brother has a love for heavy beat music and rap, as well as the consumption of a certain type of plant.

Appearance: Here we go! (image cutie markless). Light grayish-silver coat with a dark blue (with bangs) mane and tail that basically matches his eye color as well. He's above average in height. His wings are lithe and medium-sized. He also wears black glasses.

Personality: Smart and logical, he loves things that confuse the brain. That's why he is so interested in these cases, even before the princesses disappeared. He felt he needed a challenge. Can be a bit snide and sarcastic when he feels people are "testing his patience", in his words.
