Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Nuclear Weapons Ownership?

Minnow

If you're gonna dig, dig to the heavens!
Why is America (and others, but they're the assholes, so we'll focus on them) allowed to have 50 billion nukes, but whenever another country (that didn't sign the non-proliferation act) starts developing them, America and even the U.N. sometimes are all over them?

"Blarg, you're a threat to the world. Stop or we'll stop you."

Because we're the world's policeman so we can do whatever we want! :O

Eh, I guess it's because we got them first, so there's nobody who can stop us. Oh, yeah. And we're the "good guys." I think that all nukes, even (especially?) American ones, should be banned.

Right, of course, America's the only country who's an asshole for having nuclear weapons, because god only knows everything's America's fault ?_?

Also this should be in the Debating Hall.

Because usually the countries trying to develop nukes are ruled by dictators of questionable mental stability.

Same as above. We arn't scared they'll nuke us, its just that all these countries have a history of illegal arms dealing and arn't very stable, might sell them to terrorists.

Because just because that country isn't planning to use the tech, they could sell it to someone who is more than willing to.

Guys, stop beating up on America. It isn't completely bad.

"GUYS GUYS GUYS STOP SHOOTING EACH OTHER FOR FIVE SECONDS PLEASE!"

"OH MY GOD HE LOOKED AT ME FUNNY. KILL HIM AND HIS ENTIRE FAMILY."

Who would you rather have the nukes belong to?

One stupid question.

Why so much emphasis on America's nukes? Doesn't Russia have the largest nuclear stockpile?

yeah but the russians are willing to get rid of them. Bush was all "nah let's just... put them into storage ok just in case"

I feel so dirty, but i'd have to agree with Bush. The second you get rid of them, all of these smaller countries with their deranged leaders would more than likely begin massing up their nuclear stockpile - I don't want to imagine what they'd use them for.

Stick with the devil we know.

What is the point of the U.S. (or any country) having so many nukes? I believe I heard somewhere it would theoretically take a relatively small number to wipe out the planet, and the U.S. supposedly passed that number a long time ago.

And if a smaller country used a nuke for something, or it was even discovered they were building nukes and there was a reasonable threat to safety around the world, the superpowers would be doing a shitton to stop them. And nuking them in return is only one option, there are craploads of other ones.

Nuclear weapons do have one positive feature. Some countries are now too scared to attack others as there is a high enough number for world destruction now.

The only problem is when that one headstrong coutnry comes in and attacks anyway. Then we're in a lot of trouble.

Personally, I hate nuclear weapons, nuclear warfare and the like. Nuclear weapons should be disarmed as while they exist, there will always be tension between countries.
