Nova Prime
Queen of Procrastination
*wave* So...I'm posting here to gauge what level of interest people might have in this RP going to the main board, and whatnot. Let me know if it's alright, if it blows, etc. If people like it, I'll go ahead with it.

A stiff, mild breeze marked the beginning of winter, gently stirring the leaves of black trees and slowly permeating everything it came in contact with. The night was deep and silent, people long since gone to warmer places. A high wire mesh fence stood as a sentinel, a long shadow cast to the concrete below by the moonlight. Silence. And then, a skinny shadow slinking along the top of the fence. Quickly, with purpose. The creature was as liquid shadow in the darkness, a silent purveyor of the night. There was no fear in his small ebony paws. Every creature had a clime in which it was most comfortable and damn it if he wasn’t going to enjoy the freedom the night-time provided him. With no hesitation the slinky creature met the end of the fence and quickly leapt high, to the railing of a fire escape. He paused, sat down. A muted golden glow was reflected from him onto the bars and he caught sight of his own wretched reflection in a window pane. Blake Sullivan…what a mess.
The nights of this planet were blisteringly cold, too cold for humans to withstand. Even more so during the winter equinox, which was currently threatening to take a vicious grip on the City. And they lasted several weeks, no thanks to the lunar orbit. Sullivan was more aware of lunar activity than most of the others; it was ingrained in his biology, irrevocably linked to his survival and his livelihood. In quiet moments, his could feel the great, majestic moons shifting, the cosmos itself turning infinitely like it was a part of his being. It was a beautiful, calming knowledge. He knew that the night would remain for approximately two more weeks. His weather forecasting was a useful skill that the Society had means to use from him, as during the sunlit weeks, their kind could not emerge; the streets became too busy and lively. That was why Sullivan was just that; a scout, a spy. He was quick, cunning, and most importantly, smart. One of the Shadowstep.
The crash of a garbage bin lid violently hitting the ground echoed through the deserted alley, and suddenly the railing was devoid of his presence. Scaling several flights of stairs with an almost-floaty ease, Sullivan reached a high landing and flattened his scrawny body to the ground, melding instantly into his surroundings. A single rose-red eye narrowed as he soaked up the scene below him. The reports were indeed, accurate. They were closer than ever before. Nana would not be pleased. An unshakable feeling of unease crept up from his paws to riddle his core, bringing a shiver from him. Then, suddenly, something large and purple shot up between his front paws, moving right through the solid concrete. He came face-to-face with a horrible, yet familiar visage that smirked and screeched an ear-piercing alarm. He skittered backwards, small sharp teeth bared in a loud hiss, and shot away. Mocking, shrieking laughter followed his escape, and he felt his unseeing eye move as if to twitch, or blink, in frustration.
We know this place only as the City. For the City, the contrast between night and day is rightly named. The day and night last for several weeks apiece, making each day count, so to speak. Whilst the sun is out, the City is ablaze with life, with people and their Pokémon. This planet is healthy and vibrant, but not without its flaws. When the day-long sunset is over, the night encroaches upon the City. It is, of course, well protected; extra protection for the humans and inter-building connections means they can comfortably continue their lives, unaware of what happens outside. The temperature can easily drop below zero and stay that way, and only the mad and the lonely wander the desolate lanes. The City becomes a ghost town, in more ways than one. For it is here that a secret battle wages.
The streets are prowled; by creatures of Darkness, those that lurk in the shadows, those with latent Esper abilities, mind over matter, and those who can hide in the mist and remain Unseen. The City is our world of Eternal Night. And here we wage war to decide who owns it.
I’m Sullivan, or just Blake, if you’d prefer. I’m part of the Shadowstep Society. Heh…the Dark Side. Well, I am an Umbreon, after all. We’re allied with the Cosmic Coalition; the Espers and Psychic types. Once we fought as enemies until a third party, the Sorrow Syndicate, turned out to be much more formidable to the both of us than we would ever be to each other. Led by Lilith, who calls herself the ‘Mistress of Illusion’, they’re the Ghost, and they are only becoming more and more powerful.
Some outsiders come to us to assist, Pokémon that do not belong in any alliance. Why, I have not yet understood; sometimes to fulfil a sense of justice, or to protect themselves or their children. We appreciate any help we can get. We live in the underground, forging our own way, eating whatever we can find. It is a simple life, but it’s fulfilling, and rewarding in its own ways.
But now the tension is undeniable. We cannot ignore the reports right in front of us. Lilith is moving and she is looking to take over once and for all. And I know that I, along with the Shadowstep Society, will not let that happen.
General:
-- Be kind and thoughtful when RPing. I love doing this so goddamn much and only want people to enjoy themselves.
-- Swearing and other adult things are fine; as Advanced RPers, I trust you to do so with some intent in mind and act maturely about it, and not abuse it.
-- Battle Etiquette is expected; things will be semi-moderated by myself. Godmodding not allowed in the slightest. Fight fair and be good sports.
NE Specific:
-- This is an Advanced-Literate RP. I will only accept applications of a similar quality to that which I have written. It also means proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, detailed characters, all that jazz. A solid paragraph, seven or eight sentences, is the minimum expected for each post. There are also only seven application spaces; this is to ensure the RP can flow smoothly.
-- I don’t mind if the RP railroads here and there, there’s nothing wrong with allowing things to just happen. If it happens to turn to day, I will make a jump to the following dusk, and we can continue. Just letting you know that you might have to deal with a time skip or two, maybe.
-- One character per person, no hybrids. Refer to the character sheet for more detail.
-- No Mary-Sue characters. For this RP, that includes use of the following names for characters: Shadow, Ebony, Raven. Mainly because these words will be used in abundance to describe our surrounds and calling our characters them as well will only serve to confuse.
-- The move Sunny Day can’t be used. It will negate the premise of my RP, and that will make me sad. D:
-- A bio is not needed for the character sign-up, I find these things tend to be more enjoyable when a character can grow of their own accord, and as such they can just be RPed out.
Character Sheet
Please copy/paste the following into your post for sign-up. :D
Name: Blake Sullivan
Alias (if any): Sullivan (Formal), Blake (Informal), occasionally Sully.
Age: Three years, four months
Gender: Male
Orientation: Bisexual, preference for males.
Species: Umbreon
Type: [dark]
Appearance: Blake is in possession of the markings, colouration, ears and tail common of his kin, but unfortunately this is where the similarities end. Best described as a scrawny, messy, almost skeletal-like feline, Blake has long, thin limbs that taper to delicate, tiny paws. They do serve a useful purpose, however, allowing him to balance on and squeeze into things others often couldn’t. Despite his dishevelled outer appearance, he still has toned muscles where they should be, hidden under all his fur, and is quite lithe and streamlined. His ebony fur is scraggy and dirty, particularly on his tail, and atop his head. When frightened or angry, his hackles raise, serving to make him look even worse for wear. Blake is completely hopeless at controlling his markings, and they glow at most inopportune times, betraying his actual feelings. He rarely has the place of mind to make them do much of anything.
He has one large, orb-like eye in a soft-rose red, but a bright shade nonetheless, they just carry none of the normal…well, ‘evil’, that he has seen in others. His other eye glows a blinding white, completely blind. A thick scar of the same glow runs vertically across it. He obtained this in a direct confrontation with the Mistress of Illusion herself, Lilith, and it does nothing but hinder him. It twinges from time to time and he has trouble with depth perception. Small pointed features grace his face with small but incredibly sharp teeth hidden in his maw, matching the talons sheathed in his paws. Long whiskers spring from his face, a single one of his left side frazzled, twisted, and unusable, though he keeps it purely for cosmetic amusement.
Strengths: Advanced Stealth Abilities, Quick Thinker and Talker, Patience (in spades).
Weaknesses: Not much physical strength, Blind in right eye, Tendency to be lazy.
Likes: Observing the night sky, receiving commendation of a good job, music (on the rare occasion he can find/hear it.)
Dislikes: Sunlight, Being blind, Low pain threshold (cannot tolerate extended pain).
Personality: Blake is immediately seen as an Eon of nothing but business. When in the presence of an official or higher-up, he will be quick to attention, and is willing to put a paw up to assist if he is needed. He supports Nana with everything he has; the Society is the closest thing to a family he has, and as such, he protects its members like they were his brothers and sisters, the headquarters, his home. Open to friendship and not quick to judge, Blake doesn’t mind at all to simply pass the time of day (or night). Pleasantries are few and far between these days, after all.
Patience is Blake’s virtue; he can tolerate most of anything, except sunlight or a whole lot of pain. Being partially blind forces one’s mindset to become a little more tolerant of a great many things. In the comforts of home Blake is relaxed, laid back, borderline lazy. If given an assignment, he will pursue it with concentration and expertise in the hopes of attaining praise or recognition, validation of all his efforts, a feeling that gives him peace. The occasional smart-ass, Blake doesn’t mind teasing or goading his friends and is just as open to a game or joke as the next ‘Mon.
Moveset:

Character Sheet
Please copy/paste the following into your post for sign-up. :D
HTML:
Name: [First and last, or just first, anything is fine. If you read the rules, you will know which names I’d like nobody to use.]
Alias (if any): [Self Explanatory.]
Age: [Going by ‘Mon standards here. Anything under 1 is considered a child, 7+ is quite old. Unless you are a Species that lives for hundreds/thousands of years, then…whatever.]
Gender:
Orientation: [Added mainly for informational purposes.]
Species: [Dark/Psychic types, obviously. Please have common sense, I will not allow legendaries or over-powered species. My character is an Umbreon, take ideas from that starting point. Dark/Some Other Type is fine, too. If you wish to be a different type (Fire, Water, whatever), a Pokémon that has joined for other purposes than type, that is fine. Post your profile and I will discern if it is accepted, just like any other.]
Type:
Appearance: [No pictures are allowed; this is a written RP, after all. A couple of paragraphs is fine; again, take a look at my own for a rough guide. Minimal accessories are acceptable.]
Strengths: [I usually list three of these, more is fine, less is not. In as many words as you please.]
Weaknesses: [See Above.]
Likes: [See Above.]
Dislikes: [See Above.]

Personality: [Like personality, I would like to see detail. Again, two or so paragraphs is roughly alright.]
Moveset: [4 Moves. You may use any move from the most recent Gen. (I used Serebii). TM moves are alright, as are other types (eg. Blake’s Take Down is learnt as an Eevee). But again, use common sense, no Hyper Beam/Thunder/Giga Impact/Over-Powered Things. You will not be accepted. Also, if you are Dark/Psychic, have at least 1 move of that type, and try not to cross over (eg. No Ghost Moves.)]
Take a look at Blake's profile below to see an example. :3
