State of Bliss​

Bliss Stage meets Pokemon


Right now, the moment you began reading this, Humanity is devastated by an alien attack from the edges of our understanding.

It is the first blow of a terrible war. Seven years later, armed with technology you cannot comprehend and can barely operate, you will strike back.​

The Bliss is a state of perpetual dreams created by Deoxys, after his invasion of Earth. It sends all adult Pokemon and humans into a silent, death-like state of endless dreams, leaving behind the young ones and sealing their powers. At first, it didn’t seem too bad. Eating candy and running wild with Pokemon and humans in the streets all day, playing all the video games you wanted… But then you go home and shake your sleeping family, trying to awake them, to no avail. Soon, things started to fall apart, no services, no food, and no structure. Then the ‘Aliens’ attacked. Deoxys’ minions, weaker versions of himself and a few Pokemon from space mounted daily attacks, killing many. But you survived. You may have joined a roving gang of Pokemon and humans, may have went to the countryside to learn to grow food, whatever.

But then, she came.

Another Alien being, but this one wanted to help.

Jirachi, the goddess of the stars, blessed the resistance with a powerful weapon to do battle with Deoxys and his minions – the ANIMa, a powerful machine run by a chunk of stone taken from Deoxys himself. The ANIMa can only be piloted by a Pokemon, strapped into a machine attached to the stone and tossed into the dream world in which the aliens are attacking, the only thing keeping them from slipping away their Anchor, a human with a powerful bond with the Pilot. The ANIMa unlocks the Pokemon’s sealed powers, one for each strong bond they hold with others. Friends, brothers, sisters, lovers, children… Each bond unlocks another move or ability, the power and ease of its use depending on how strong the bond. The bond with the Anchor provides the protection from the dangerous dream world in the form of a massive mecha, the appearance of which is dreamed up by the Pilot.

There is a single adult left to run the group – the Authority Figure, who provides guidance and order for the young ones under his care, the ANIMa Pilots and Anchors. They may be either a human or Pokemon, but either way they are a vital asset to the movement, a point of stability in the world of the young ones. The only reason they managed to not submit to The Bliss is that they used some sort of means, be it insomnia, drug use, or something else. They haven’t slept in the seven years since The Bliss arrived.

After granting the ANIMa to the resistance, Jirachi was captured and most likely killed by Deoxys for going against his rule. Now it is up to us to defeat his forces and regain our world.

PILOTS:

You are a Pokemon chosen for piloting the ANIMa. You dive into the depths of your dreams and nightmares, combating formless and shifting evils with only the power of those you love to protect you. You are the only hope of the world, working to drive away the alien menace. But it’s killing you. The more you fight the more you risk slipping into The Bliss earlier than normal, and never waking again. You’re still a kit, a young one, and this is hell on you. You may have chosen to bond with only one, and use the attack they gave you to it’s full potency – Intimacy Level Five – or merely many mid level powers, but whatever your strategy, it is hell on you to know that you are using your loved ones as weapons and shields in the midst of battle. Will you stand strong, or crack under the pressure?

ANCHORS:

You are a human, chosen to Anchor a Pokemon to this world. You hold a strong bond with them, Intimacy Level Five or not, and you’re there just for them, to sing them to sleep and wake them when the nightmare becomes too real. You watch the ANIMa’s displays and are faced with the same nightmares, the black soup of all their fears and loves. You are faced with a thousand reasons why they hate you, why they love you, watch as they scream the names of their loved ones and launch powerful attacks or not-so-powerful ones. The Pilot who returns alive is hailed a hero, but if they die it’s on you, you weren’t there for them when they needed you, and you didn’t wake them fast enough. And then you will get another Pilot, and go through it all over again, and again, and again, until you die or the war ends, whichever first. And you are more fragile.

AUTHORITY FIGURE:

Have you ever dealt with kids? Not just one or two, but ten, twelve, twenty at once? Maybe if you were a teacher or daycare worker, but that’s unlikely. It’s up to you to keep them all safe, to keep them alive, and keep them trained, and they all hate you and love you for it. You haven’t slept in seven years, and it’s been hell. You have to deal with the self-righteous brats every day of your life from now on, and you’re probably sleeping with at least one of them and you hate yourself for it. These kids are going to be the death of you. Either them or The Bliss.

BYSTANDERS:

You Are not a Pilot or an Anchor, but if one of your fellows dies, then you may be pushed into the position. You are forced to watch as your friends and family fight and die, fall in love, and are heartbroken. You can do nothing more for now then offer them support in the times they need you.

Appearance: Vapor is a small Vaporeon, evolved at a very young age. Her eyes are wide and a pale green, and her body is a slightly lighter shade of blue than normal. Her fur is very soft and sleek, and she has a very long, thin tail. She has a small scar on her left shoulder. Otherwise, she is a normal Vaporeon in terms of appearance.
Personality: Vapor is a shy creature, clingy to her Anchor and meek to anyone else. She has to be talked to first rather then talk to someone, but will if pushed by her Anchor or other friends. She's very neat, and will wash things that are dirty and mumble in annoyance about whoever messed them up. She is easily dominated by men, and will take a lot of abuse before breaking off a relationship.
Biography: Born and raised in a daycare, Vapor had an okay life. When Deoxys came, she hid away in a forest and avoided contact until a small group of others drove her into the city. She met a 17-year-old human male there that took her in, but he soon started to abuse her, treating her like his slave and mistress. She tried to run, but he stopped her, beating her within an inch of her life, but Shana, who would later become her Anchor, saved her and took her to the headquarters. There she joined the resistance.

Appearance: Kira is physically very small, about 5'0 and very thin. She has round blue eyes and short, almost fluffy brown hair usually pulled back with pink hair bows. She dresses neatly, but plainly; a sleeveless gray shirt, black pants, and black sneakers. She usually hunches over slightly when she sits and walks with a bit of a slouch. Overall, Kira is plain-looking, just a normal girl is a very not-normal situation.
Personality: Kira seems very vulnerable because of her small size and soft voice, but she is very determined and much tougher than she looks. She is very devoted and affectionate to those she cares about, and it is these traits that make her a good Anchor. Still, given enough stress, she will break down emotionally and get incredibly depressed and apathetic. However, she will completely refuse to show this or any weakness to anyone until she is to the point of physical sickness. She was in chorus in school before The Bliss, and thus has a nice singing voice. This is the one thing she is shy about, and will only do it for her Pilot Pokemon.
Biography: Kira was adopted when she was two years old. Her dad had never married, and so she grew up with only one parent. Maybe because of this, she was babied a lot and kind of spoiled. When the Bliss came, she tried to live and act as normally as possible, but it just.. wasn't. She was used to being alone; because of her dad's job, he was often away. But even then, she could call him anytime that she felt lonely or sad, or just bored. Finally, she ran away from home, not that that meant much anymore. It was easier to live by herself, wandering, than to live in the ghost of her old life, wishing for her dad to come back. But the only way for her to help was to become an Anchor. Even though she was scared, there was no real choice. Sitting around and waiting wasn't an option. And so she met Blur, and it all truly began..

Name: Shana Moon
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Pilot: Vapor (FMC)
Appearance: She has long black hair tied back in a loose pony. She has pale blue eyes and is rather short. She wears a short skirt and a shirt with long sleeves that flare at the end. The bottom of the shirt cuts short and shows her mid-drift. She also wears a old straw hat given to her by someone she admired.

Personality: She is strong willed and a tad rash at times. She would do anything in her power to protect the ones she cares about, even jump in the way of a speeding bullet if it came down to it. She is loyal to her friends and family and will fight till the bitter end for victory in the fight.

Biography: Shana was from a well off family, money was never a problem for her or her four brothers and other family members that lived with her. She lived comfortably until around her eighth birthday when her parents went into a unending sleep. Her first thought was Darkrai but after her brother's council, it was proved that Darkrai had no hand in this. Since then, she's tried her best to combat the alien menace, even joining the team as a anchor.

She used to have another Pilot, a Umbreon that she evolved herself as a trainer, but she died in the nightmare and never returned. Shana was near the deep end when she found a poor beaten Vaporeon outside a house, chained to a spike. She would have left if she didn't see the man inside come out of the house and begin to beat the poor creature without remorse. When she witnessed this, it didn't take much for her to hop over the fence and begin to beat the man down until he could hardly breath. She unchained the Vaporeon and took her back to the HQ to nurse her back to health.

Now she is doing what she promised she would never do again. She is sending another Pilot into the nightmare that took her friend Eon from her.

Other: She met Vapor when she was being abused by another human man and rescued her from the fate. She has taken care of her ever since and has grown a strong relationship with the confused Vaporeon. After convincing from Vapor, they entered Level 5 together in order to safe the planet from the aliens. She has a better comfort with it now than she did at the beginning.

Species: Kadabra
Gender: Male
Level: 21
Anchor: Evoli (Kira)
Appearance: Blur's fur is slightly darker gold than a normal Kadabra's, and the star on his forehead is more orange than red. His spoon is slightly tarnished, thus parts of it are black instead of silver.
Personality: Blur, despite not being in an Abra's permanent state of sleep since evolving, still has the lackadaisical attitude of his pre-evolution. He's constantly yawning, only looking fully awake when doing his duties as a Pilot. Although Blur, named for his use of Teleport to get out of an awkward situation, takes his duties very seriously, that's the only thing he cares that much about - other than his Anchor, of course.
Biography: Blur had an ordinary birth; he hatched, same as every other Abra, and he had stern but loving parents. At least, until the Bliss came. He was still an Abra, horribly scared when he woke up after a post-training nap and tried to awaken his mother and father to no avail. He wandered through the forest for a year or two before settling down in the city. Since then, he evolved, yet kept the average Abra attitude.

Appearance: He is shiny. The only thing different from that of a regular Haunter, is where there is red on the body, like the mouth, is blue. It also shows whenever he prepares a psychic attack. The pulsations are usually red, but since he is a shiny, they are blue.
Personality: He would never take a life unless he absolutely had to. That makes him different from other Haunter, who live and crave on lifeforce. He does, however, like tricks and pranks. He also has a sarcastic attitude and sometimes speaks metaphorically, like one of his namesakes.
Biography: He was born in a small graveyard near Eterna City. he saw a lot of deaths, funerals, and the taking away of lifeforces. He knew that neither Pokemon or human should go through this, so he shunned himself to live deep in Eterna Forest. He survived on fruits and food careless trainers dropped. One day, now a Haunter, he decided to go back to the place once called home. That's where he saw the many Huanter and Gengar asleep. He tried to wake them, but they wouldn't budge. He knew something was wrong. He went to the city to try and find out what happened.

Name:Arthur Gordon

Appearance: Longish dark hair, combed back, with dark brown eyes and a cleanly shaven face. If you look at his face in the light, you can see the shadows under his eyes that he tries to hide by splashing his face with lots of water or with his glasses. He's pretty built, and wears a black shirt, with a pink tie (No suit jacket, for some reason). He's got a pair of dark blue jeans, and wears steel toed boots. His glasses are steel rimmed, and catch the light easily, so they can completely shine out with whiteness when he wants to.

Personality: He's an easygoing guy mostly, and he works well with kids a lot. He tries to be as understanding as he can with kids, and a lot of times he can come off as a little pushy. When he's angry, his personality changes almost completely, into a sharp, cold man, who only shows mercy when he has a damn good reason.

Biography: Arthur used to be a schoolteacher, until The Bliss came. His wife went first, and his daughter and his fiance soon followed. He too would have Blissed if he wasn't grading papers, and due to grief, denied himself sleep, not knowing what happened. His family having been rent apart, he fell into a deep depression for a while, almost thinking about succumbing to The Bliss to end it all. He learned what The Bliss was, snapped out of his depression and denied himself sleep as to not fall victim to The Bliss, and also to put together a resistance and end this sad state of affairs once and for all. He suffered for a really long time for a lack of sleep, but his iron will kept him awake for 7 long years. Part of him thinks the only reason he's lasted this long was because of the kids under his care.

Reason for Avoiding The Bliss: He believes staying awake will be towards a greater good, and he wants to stop The Bliss, so what happened to his family never tears apart another family ever again.

Ahaha, fascinating... let's see where this leads.

Name: Naxalge Abacereax (AB-BASS-SIR-ROW)

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Pilot: Dion.

Appearance: Naxalge has long straight dirty blond long hair, which is left loose, and rather dull hazel eyes, which seem to have a perpetually hallow look in them, as if they're searching for... something more... She wears glasses over them. Also, she is of an average weight and build, though a bit short for her age, only reaching 5 feet, 1 inch. Her skin is slightly tanned.

For clothing, she wears a white jacket, which is unzipped, leaving a bit of her black tanktop to show. She also wears black jeans, and white boots.

Personality: Naxalge's personality tends to be... rather cold at times. She has trouble getting close to others, and can seem quite withdrawn and timid, sometimes even hostile. Having had a bit of a rough past prior to the Bliss, and her family not really being a touchy-feely sort of people, she at times shudders when she has to touch others, and feels awkwardness and discomfort.

Socially, in other words, she is quite inept. She is shy, and afraid to open her heart to others. But when she does, she can make an excellent anchor, as once she opens her heart to somebody, she will remain loyal to them. Around her close friends and loved ones, she will show her true warm affectionate side. Though it takes time, with Naxalge, it takes much time for trust to develop and build up. She tends to be the kind of person who has a very narrow circle of friends, but each friend of hers is a true friend, which she loves with all of her heart, and will do anything for. Using her love for her friends, she can display a tremendous amount of emotional strength, having suffered and endured many obstacles with many of her friends and loved ones, making her a quite powerful Anchor. Though at times, she can waver from her duties, and even lose faith. Eternally, her difficulty getting close to others plagues her, even with her most trusted loved ones, and can quite often, if not given enough reassurance, go into a sinking depression of hopeless and despair.

Biography: Naxalge never really was too interested in Pokemon training, or Pokemon much for that matter. Living in a very... clean and sterile household, for most of her life, she was quite sheltered, thus developing this shyness and reluctancy to get close to strangers. Her mother was strict, a displinarian, disliking all signs of dirt and filth in their home, and thus, not wanting her to get near any Pokemon. Constantly, the woman would yell and yell at her daughter, never being satisfied. As for Naxalge's father, he was always very inactive in Naxalge's life, preferring to leave the child raising to her mother. Being a single child, Naxalge never quite had another sibling to emphathize with either.

She lived a long life of being alone, until quite recently, she made her first few close friends. The struggle to keep the friendships alive has been hard on her.

When the Bliss came, she was a bit apathetic about her parents' situation, but after a while, it began to dawn on her the severity of the situation. With some reluctancy, she agreed to be Anchor of a Gardevoir she had met whilst wandering about aimlessly contemplating the purpose of her life and what to do about her parents.

Personality: Dion is a bit coddled, and doesn't like being alone, while at the same time, he never really feels like talking. He is a loyal friend, though, and dos his best to help them.

Biography: Dion was born with a nameless sickness, which causes heavy stomache ache, dizziness and loss of appetite, and sometimes vomiting. He was raised by the mother of the trainer who bred him, as he wasn't fit for fighting, and stayed at his home most of the time.

Relationships: Can I have a friend-relationship with you, Cookies? Maybe romantic, but that'd just be awkward.

Anchor: Kali the Flygon
Appearance: Karae is a darker colour than usual, though her underside is still a pristine white. Her scales shade to indigo, and her orbs are a murky teal rather than the bright, pure blue that her kind usually has. The feathers of her wings are tipped with black, giving them a dappled effect, and her horn is a tad longer than the usual length, though it isn't extremely noticable.
Personality: Karae is a perfectionist. This facet of her personality is easy to guess at, and she finds failure unacceptable in herself, though not in others. The only person she demands perfection from is herself - not even her Anchor is included. She often closes herself off from others as a way to keep from having anything else expected of her, and is incredibly lonely. She can't stand not being able to save those who are in Bliss, and forces herself onward no matter what condition she is in. Her striving for perfection often comes into comflict with her unwillingness to open up to others, so she is slowly being torn apart by her own decisions.
Biography: She was abandoned by her parents shortly before Deoxys invaded, and spent most of her life alone, refusing to trust anyone, not even other young Pokemon. However, shortly after she evolved she felt guilty for not having done anything useful, and joined the resistance.

Name: Paul Streyer
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Pilot: Karae (already got permission)
Appearance: Paul is approximately 5'2" tall, with a young-looking face. He has bright blue eyes and blond hair that used to be short, but has since grown out due to lack of cutting, so that it now reaches just below his shoulders. He has a rather rugged look, though, with numerous scrapes and scars from different events in the past, from living out in the wilderness for years. Paul is very thin, a result of near starvation conditions lately.
Biography: Paul was only 7 years old at the time of first strike, living with his parents, and his 10-year-old brother, Eric. They lived in a small town, a pleasant, peaceful exurban community. But things all changed, when the majority of the population of the town, including his parents, inexplicably fell into a deep coma. Eric almost immediately stepped up and took charge, seeing it as his mission to protect his younger brother, Paul. Together, as the community around them collapsed, the two of them hid out in the wilderness, roughing it, trying to make due with whatever they could find. Paul was slowly building back more confidence in his life after the 'loss' of his parents, and while Eric still held the bulk of the considerable burden of survival for the two of them, Paul was also starting to take his share. But just a month ago, the nearly 7 years of hard work, malnutrition, and being there for his younger brother finally took its toll on Eric, and he fell into the Bliss months before his 18th birthday. Paul was heartbroken, and practically collapsed emotionally. He had always believed that he and Eric would make it through together. A couple days later, while dragging the comatose body of his older brother, Paul was discovered by a reconnaissance team working for the resistance, and they helped him get back on his feet. Now, just lately, Paul was paired with another new arrival, a newly-evolved Dragonair.
Personality: Emotionally, Paul is still very childish, unable to grow much since he was 7 years old, and just now hitting a late puberty. He's very confused and very naive. He cares deeply for his older brother, who is now sleeping peacefully in his room... his greatest wish is to bring him back. Seeing him there, unable to move or speak, helps Paul to focus on his duties, and reminds him why he is fighting. But overall, he is quite new to the concept of being an Anchor, and never really formed any bonds with any Pokemon before... he just volunteered to do what he can though, in order to save Eric.

Appearance: A regular Jolteon, if you don't count the bluish color of her eyes and the nick in her ear.

Personality: Bitter, to say the least. Hates the alien invaders with a passion. She keeps few friends, but those she does have she will defend with her life. She is also mistrustful and depressing, keeping a sadly realistic view about the rest of the resistance group, and she fights only to free her friends and family from the Bliss.

Biography: As far back as she can remember, Laia's parents have been in the Bliss. She was a very young Eevee when they slipped into their now comatose state, barely able to take care of herself. She was found a few days later, weak and malnourished, by a 12-year old girl by the name of Amethyst.

Years passed, and the two developed a very close bond. The time had finally come when Amethyst had found an evolution stone for Laia, when she collapsed and fell into the Bliss. It turned out her 18th birthday would have been in a few days. Laia, devastated by the loss of her only friend and her only family, took the stone for herself and evolved on the spot.

For the next year, Laia lived very much alone, each day making her more angry, made her hate the world more. Constantly guarding Amethyst as if her life depended on it. For all she knew, it did. She soon learned of a resistance movement from a few passersby, and she eventually went to join it only to free her family and her only friend.
