• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Open Pandemic

Timothy stalked behind Aria, letting the light shine on the spikes of fur that protruded from his shoulders. "I wouldn't know."

"Everybody! Run! They're smart enough to be armed now!" Oyasumi called from the back of the group.

Suddenly, an idea somehow made it's way into his mind, and he released a Thunder Wave, not at the scientists, but their guns, which they dropped with a yell.
"Victory!" he cried, as he grabbed several electrified pistols.

He ran up to Mysti, and shoved a gun at her.
"You're sane enough to shoot right?"

Timothy was startled by the gun. "Why would we want to do that when we can paralyse them with our Electric attacks?"

"Because, if they aren't retarded, then they would be protected against electricity!" Oyasumi yelled as he thrust a second gun at Timothy.
"You don't seem insane either!"

"Why would I want to shoot someone? It's too loud for my sensitive ears..." He thought about how the sense had been transfered between him and Luxray as clutched the small object. "And wouldn't shooting them make them angrier and more likely to catch us because they're driven by determination?"

"Only shoot to defend yourself!" He looked over his shoulder.
"Wahhh! They're catching up! Run faster!"

"The latter sounds better."

Timothy attempted to run faster. He gave himself a quick jolt with Thunder Wave.

Emese blinked dully at the others as they broke out, trailing behind them with a frown. She didn't like this idea. It was insane, too risky, and flat-out messy. Plus they could pass the virus they had been infected with to normal people...

"You know that we're contagious, right? Spreading lots and lots of little viruses everywhere. Killing people. Men, women, children. You're all fools." She mumbled, more to herself but still loud enough to be heard.

Her spiny mane sparked slightly in annoyance.

Evelyn thunderpunched a guard before stopping in her tracks
"What?!" she gasped. Why hadn't she... why hadn't anyone thought of that before now?! "Guys, get back here. She's right! If we just go outside, we could spread the virus," she yelled bitterly. Walking back to the seat, she nervously thought of what awaited them. We've shown that we can take down humans and even damaged property. Worse, we might have even... given them the virus. What's are they going to do to us?

"I guess they'll keep us in a extra-strong cage now. We're dangerous." Emese said softly, showing slight amusement. She seemed a little... unstable.

"Stop it, belly." She hissed suddenly, glaring down at her midsection.

The idea of contaminating other people didn't seem bad in Carv's mind, the world had turn its back on him, why would he care about it? Humanity could be nuked for what he cared. As soon as he saw daylight, ferouciously headbutting and biting the guards and cientists in the way, he leaped to his freedom. The fresh air that ran through his hairy face felt like the hands of gods gracing his presence, he could taste his stolen freedom and so he stood still for a moment, savouring it. Something grabbed his right arm and ripped his shirt by the elbow, causing Carv to look down to the cientist that tried in vain to stop his rampage. With sharp claws, he pierced the man's flesh as he screamed in agony, grabbing his head with the other hand and smashing it against the concrete wall until the bone cracked and blood dyed the floor. His "cellmates" had now reached the opening on the wall too and some looked in horror at the gore caused by the insane boy, who now laughed maniacally covered in guts and holding a dead man by his shattered head.

Marissa stared at the scientist lying at the floor, and then at Carv. Well, I guess it IS for his own good...he was the one who made us all like this... she thought. "Guys...she's right. We can't just spread the virus to other innocent people!" she said quietly. Although...we were innocent people, too...

Mysti stopped short. Marissa was right. Even if she was a volunteer, this was bad, but not as bad as the people who weren't spliced. They would die in two days. We would only know the virus was in us because they sprayed it on us.

"Maybe you're right." Miles said, "It's either get out of here and spread the virus or stay at the lab and be tested on. It's your choice."

"Then what are we to do? Accept our imprisonment because they infected us? It's their fault, we're not to blame! I say we get the hell outta here as fast as we can, and if you're staying I'm not."

Marissa had to stop and think for a moment. Freedom, finally, after all this time! This was an opportunity she couldn't just miss...but her and the others could kill so many people who weren't immune to the virus like they were...No, she couldn't do that.
"I'm staying," she announced.

Carv laughed insanely.

"You're sacrificing your life for those who have done nothing for you. They will lock you up, run tests on you, treat you like you are a useless piece of shit, a god damn freak. They'll blame who stays for the damage we've all done, who knows if you're not going to get tortured and eventually killed for trying to escape? Who's gonna know it wasn't you that killed that guy?" Carv pointed to the dead cientist. He gazed the horizon and took a deep breath of fresh air. "Freedom lies just in front of you."

Mark was the first one to be shot down. It must have been with a tranquilizer, because when he woke up, he found himself in a room similar to the one before, but a smaller one. He couldn't tell in there was anyone else in there,as it was too dark. He sighed, and tried to fall back to sleep.

"Damn, I thought I was going to finally escape. But if I had, I would have spread the virus. Is it good that I'm back here?
