• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Open Rebirth of Sin.

A gunshot in the distance? Was that what Opal had heard? She couldn't really tell. She'd been trying to sleep and failing all night, only succeeding in laying there drifting in and out of consciousness. Every one of her senses were dulled. Her vision was blurred, she couldn't really hear anything all that well and she could only feel her sheets around her.

"Damn insomniaaa..." she moaned, covering her head and closing her eyes tight. Even though she knew it would be futile.

What she wouldn't give for some coffee.

Baron smiled in his sleep. The gunshot was the noise of victory for him.
Sweet sweet music to me he thought in his dream.
All so vivid he could see the head of Nexus lying on the ground in a pool of her own blood. Baron stood over her and smirked. "I told you I would win. Too bad you won't side with me. Too late now." he spoke to the corpse.
Baron's alarm wasn't what startled him awake. It was the sound of the base being opened.
I guess that means Kai is back. he thought as he wiped the sleep out of his eyes and made his way to the lounge room.

Jason, although tired and drowsy from lack of sleep and rest, has been sat in the lounge room since 4:00 in the morning after many attempts to sleep. The only thing could think about was where could they take his family, why did they take them, and how to get them back. While all the time, at the back of his head, the memory of that dreadful night buzzed in the back of his mind. The experiments, the tests, and the pain inflicted on him both physically and mentally continued to haunt him throughout the day.

He thought to himself, 'Where are they and how will I find them, and once I've found them how will I rescue them and get them back home, and how will they react when they see me for the first time, and how will I tell them what happened to me and what I can do. Still, it's nice to have good friends and a place to stay, and finally a good cup of coffee in the morning, how long has it been since I've had a good cup of co...'

"Yal'right Baron?" He said, ending his thoughts as Baron walked in.

Vai toyed with her daggers, touching the blades and making small scratches on the hilts. There were similar marks already there, most of her stuff didn't last long. She sighed.
"Nothing to do here, might as well go to the lounge room," Vai thought out loud. She sheathed the daggers and headed down the hall.

"Huh? Oh yea I'm fine. I believe Kai is back though." Baron said as he flopped on the couch and closed his eyes. "Maybe this time he actually got her." he said aloud thinking it was in his head.

Kai arrived at the beach, and walked over to the cliff. He took a card out of his pocket and slid it down a groove in the rock. A small panel appeared where the rock had been, and Kai looked into a small eyepiece on it. A machine inside the panel scanned hs iris; It confirmed who he was, and an entrance to the cliffs opened up. Kai went inside, ready to meet Baron about his mission report.

Opal growled in frustration, before sitting up feebly and groaning.

"I give up..." she muttered, staggering to her feet. She struggled to keep from falling to her knees as she exited the room to confirm if that really had been a gunshot she'd heard. It was going to be a long day, she could already feel it.

"Sir, wake up."

"...Hmmm?"

"Wake up, sir."

"...Ugh. Good morning to you, too."

Timonas groggily sat up and rubbed his eyes. He wearily pressed a large button on the underside of the desk he had been sleeping at, and the cushion on which his head had been resting disappeared into a hatch in the wall. The hatch slid shut and the desk tilted itself to about a 20 degree angle with the top facing Timo, who watched, just like he had every morning for the past who-knows-how-long, as a large, brightly-coloured keyboard materialised on the desk, the keys made of different-coloured light that was complexly reflected and bent to shape the keyboard. The large screen on the wall in front of him flashed to life, and the cool, female voice spoke again, with a slight computerised echo.

"What would you like to do, sir?"

"Eh, I'll just log on for now."

"Yes, sir."

Timo cast his large hands across the keyboard, typing in a long, complicated password.

"I've told you before, sir, the password is really unnecessary. I know who is you and who isn't."

"You can never be too careful," the young man replied, smiling slightly. "Anyway, I think I'll go to the lounge now. Can you lock the door behind me?"

"Certainly, sir."

Timo span around in his chair and got up, striding towards the door, feeling much more awake already. He left the room, and the door, which was devoid of handle or lock, slid shut behind him.

As the day goes on, Jason is still sitting on the couch, watching TV and drinking a bottle of beer.

"Damn, when am I gonna get a mission, or something. I've just been sitting here watching TV all day... ok a few hours, but I have been here for a while and there's gotta be something I could do. This is so annoying, I mean I've been here for over a week now and I've had no news on the whereabouts of my family, I don't have a clue on how to find them, I havent been given any missions, no jobs, no nothing. Aaarrgh goddamnit *lights start to flicker and dim*" said Jason as he stormed of towards his room, "If anyone needs me I'll be in my room."

Hannah's head nodded onto her chest as she sat in the main security room, her chair parked before a wall covered in screens showing various areas of the building. She'd been up all night patrolling, but her shift was nearly over... just five minutes more...

The sound of a shot being fired snapped through the air.

"Whuh?" Hannah's eyes flew open and her chair went spinning backwards across the floor on it's wheels as she sprung up and scanned the black-and-white screens in front of her wildly. Nothing, nothing... and there in the experimentation room, a man lying on the floor with a small pool of black liquid growing around his head. Oh, damn.

She stared for a minute, her sleepy mind switching back on as she tried to analyse the situation. It wasn't until a number of people began running around the body like ants on the screen that she realised she should get moving. Heading out of the room at a run and checking her belt still held her gun as she went, she couldn't help but have the sinking feeling that she'd be working overtime today...

Naygeos heard of the assassination of the head and groaned. He knew it was the work of that stupid Underground Society. He pulled his hood up and took a walk outside to calm his nerves

Mysti awoke with a snap. Gunshot... she ran to the Head of Nexus's room. "What's going on here?" she demanded. "Who fired that shot and who got hit with it?"

Baron looked up at Kai as he walked in.
"Well hello Kai. Did you get her?" he said piercing Kai's eyes with his.
Might as well get this done and over with. I know the glare always gets him. he thought

Baron walked up to Kai and grabbed him by the collar.
"I want the head of the organization dead first. The rest of their departments will crumble without the proper leadership." he said angrily.
"I want everyone in here now!" he bellowed as he tossed Kai on the floor.

"Yes... Sir." Kai said, almost growling, picking himself up off of the floor. "I'll assemble the members of the society at once."

Crashing onto his bed Jason started to think about how he could find his family, but painful spike's of the memory of the day in the lab just wouldn't let him think straight.

Naygeos tries to shake off the feeling of remorse and apprehension, but it just doesn't work.

I really don't get why these people want to get rid of the project. We're trying to further mankind. It's as if they want us to stay with electricity and other wasteful forms of energy. Nexus will solve all the world's energy problems, and then from there, we can finally make peace
