• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Teaser countdown launched on Square Enix website

If the story was an afterthought, why do you love it for not being recycled? Sure, it's more original than what the rest of the series has done, but it's still stupid.

Magic-induced amnesia, right? Eidolons eat your memories?

Because I like its characters, and the Junction and Draw system. I'm pretty sure I pointed that out in one of my other posts.

Mmm... More like... Magic and GFs just make you forgetful.

"Two reasons I like FFVIII so much; It's story isn't recycled,"

... so there isn't even really much of an explanation there?

Except it's PS3 exclusive, and free to play.

Ugh, no and no. It's already been pointed out that it's for PC too, but it definitely won't be F2P. SE has actually talked about their considerations for altering the payment plan, and it seems like it'll be more of a pay as you play in 30-day increments or something, so if you only play for one day in the entire month, you still have 29 days to go before you have to pay for 30 more days, for example. *blah blah blah*

So yeah, to be on topic (and ignoring the rest, sorry), according to the first post we were supposed to find out what this was four days ago. I'm too lazy to check thoroughly (I just did a google for "july 5 new square enix game" and it's just little newsbits about the teaser, not what the teaser was teasing), but have they said yet? Just at a glance it looks like a Tactics game, closer to the first one than to the Tactics Advance series. I can't read Japanese but it probably says on the site now and I just can't read it.

I said it in an earlier post (Read! Read! I hate having to repeat myself! D= ). The website is for Hikari no Shi Senshi: Final Fantasy Gaiden, or The Light's Four Warriors: Final Fantasy Side Story, which means it's a spin-off. It's about a boy named Brand who gets called for an audience with the King, who for some reason wants him to rescue the Princess, who's been captured by the Northern Witch. It's going to play like a traditional RPG, but instead of using MP, it'll have a Charge command, and a "Crown System", which is similar to the Job change from FFV. It'll also have co-op play for up to 4 players.

Okay okay, I found it. Don't put it into the middle of vaguely related debatingness! :[

The four player co-op thing will probably work like it did in Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time, a little. Start a group, and other people join the group and then you go out and do stuff. Pretty fun, but the slight lag is not. It's worth it to get to play actual story together and not just some lame message exchange thing (FFIII ffffff) or minigame.
(Also EoT and Ring of Fates had the appearance-changes-with-each-piece-of-armor, but there was only helmets and bodypiece. It made up for it that each gender of each race had something a little different, I guess.)

I've only played EoT with my buddy. But he's stationed in Hawaii, and he's always raping his internet in some form, be it with torrents, or games with ridiculous Ping rates.

But hey, who knows, we might see some unique looks of armors amongst the classes in this game. I'm kinda looking forward to it, cause I occasionally like a traditional JRPG with a nice fun factor, relatively low difficulty, and can be played with friends. Although I would like a bit more in the roguelike genre... I actually kinda liked Chocobo Tales, just not as much as Chocobo Dungeon 2. Though right now, Class of Heroes, and Dark Spire are filling that space in quite nicely as of now =)
