Open The Chimera Project II

Name: Karae
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Mixed with: Dragonair
Appearance: Karae is of average height, and quite thin. Her black hair is an unruly tangle ending at her shoulders, and her eyes are grey. Since the splicing, she gained a blue-tinge to her already pale skin, and a slight nub on her forehead. Her tail, resembling a Dragonair's down to the blue orb near the tip, is long enough for her to wrap around her waist as a 'belt', and she's got two tiny wings sprouting from the sides of her head, which she usually hides in her hair. Another blue orb is at the base of her throat, so she wears a silver chain necklace to make it look as if it's just jewlery.
Personality: Karae is a perfectionist, trying to be what everyone expects of her. She's quite lonely, and will reflexively distance herself from everyone else. She is rather good at strategizing, and is able to look on situations as if they don't involve her at all. She's quite self conscious of her new appearance, and is torn between liking the advantages of her newfound strength and agility, and wondering if others will look down on her. She has a phobia of being abandoned.
History: Her parents left her at an orphanage when she was a baby, and she grew up there. She was taunted and mocked for quite a few years - the target of choice for some of the older children. Nothing much happened beyond her getting out when she was 14 years old. Her new family was hardly the best choice; they gambled most of the money the father earned, and she pretty soon ended up living on the streets while she begged, stole and tried to get a job. She was then picked up for experimentation, as no one would miss just one homeless beggar.
Other: Beans. And coffee!

Alright, very good~ We'll start in a bit, as I'm going to wait after the next egg drop to end, so watch this space! (or reply now with 'Yay' and whatnot so I can alert you with a new post. xD )

Okay then.

Hoorah! I've been waiting!
No really, I have. I've even drawn a somewhat bad picture of Rose, but haven't scanned it yet.

Ok, here we go!

----

Edward was perched on top of a crate, his legs dangling down the side. He didn't say anything, he just stared up at the dim ceiling, gold eyes unblinking, pupils slits. He tilted his head to the side quite suddenly, and his golden eyes snapped to stare down at the floor, where most of the others would be.

He let out a sharp mewling and shifted so he was standing atop the crate. His tail flicked behind his serenely and he finally spoke.

"Listen up! We have to get out of here! Do any of you have any ideas?"

Rose was the one who spoke up first. Her voice showed respect for Edward. "I may be able to dig out of here, if I tried hard enough. Would you like it if I attempted? It would cause little noise, so we can go unnoticed."

((By the way, FMC, does Edward have any nicknames, or do you just want Rose to call him Edward?))

Bakur sat with the side of his head supported by his right hand. An amount of weight was delicately balanced on his elbow, which was touching a crate. He gently flicked his tail, which smashed a tiny wooden crate to pieces.

"As long as we don't make much noise, we're fine," he said. He knew it was obvious, but he barely knew any of these people. His eyes flicked to Rose and then to Edward.

((Ed or FullMetal are what others usually call him... though FullMetal is usually only used by Roy and other Military types, iirc.))

"I guess that could work, but cement seems hard to dig into." Edward replied, tapping a steel fingertip on the wall. "I would use Alchemy, but the guards here might see the light caused by the reaction, and then where would we be?"

((I really need to get used to playing Ed again. =_= he's gonna seem sorta stiff until I get back into it, sorry.))

"Stuck, that's where," Rose lamented. "I'm not sure about Garchomp's potential when it comes to digging. There's a risk I'll break something. How about we first collect the thoughts of everyone here, then compare them, and use the one that works best?" It was fairly obvious, but one always needed to be cautious.

Fang streches his arms, a soft yawn escaping him. He looks over at Ed and grins a bit.

"Sorry there, didn't mean to yawn. Just getting a bit sleepy Sugar"

He slides off the crate he sat on and looks at the others around him, fiddlign with his silver ring on his finger. The question of how to get out floating around the others. He tilts his head to the side, then crosses his arms and shruged.

"I can use Alchemy too, but what I work with is silver and morphing it at my will. Like turning my ring into a knife, or a coin, or a key, or a letter opener, or maybe a set of brace knuckles."

Karae lifted her head, listening to the conversation. She couldn't dig at all, let alone use her powers - all she wanted to do was eat and rest. If the others escaped, she'd be left behind. "I am a liability." she remarked, eyes narrowing. "I will slow you down if you escape." Well, anyone looking at her would figure out why. She was thin, and altogether frail-looking. If anyone had given her food, she might be up for a chance to escape, but she hadn't eaten for a few days.

Toying with the chain around her neck, she started to tap the blue orb at the base of her throat. She was too tired to even think of a way to get out without alerting the guards, and ashamed of her own weakness. Why couldn't she be better?

Just besides and and slightly behind the crates that Edward stood upon, A-01's form was chained to the wall by the wrists, just above his blades and preventing him from freeing himself. Similarly he was bound by his legs.

He tiredly looked around, his head tiredly lifting itself to survey what was around him. Always being moved to keep him disoriented and thus more easily manipulated, he was surprised to find himself in the company of others.

"I... I might be able to help if you could get these manacles off me..." A-01 said in a whisper. Hearing his own voice, he couldn't help but feel a bit of disgust at himself. These other people spoke freely of escaping, yet he had given up on that for as long as he could remember. Yet now he was filled with the flames of desire once more, coming forth from the glowing embers hidden in the ashes of his own despair.

Bakur's gaze flicked to the boy who was chained to the wall. He stood up and walked over.

"I don't think I can do it without making much noise. Then again I'm not sure there's anyone here who can breathe fire."

He looked over his shoulder and sat down on a crate in the corner. He was deciding whether or not to help A-01.

"I might be able to," Rose said. "At least I look like I can." She stepped up to the chained boy. "I might be able to free you without hurting you. Want to give it a try?"

A-01 did not like fire, so he was reluctant to accept help from the one who spoke of it. Additionally, the girl that had approached him mentioned harm. Sure, she said she probably wouldn't harm him, but that still left room for the possibility of her harming him.

Ofcourse, being hurt was a lot better than being chained up. So he gave up on his caution and nodded. "I would appreciate it."

((Jeez, how did you people write so much between the time I went to bed and got back from school?))

"Oh, really now, let's not be so hasty to make such a dangerous decision, shall we?" Evan walked out from behind the crate where he had been hiding, the little light providing an odd luminescence on his blue mask. His posture slightly hunched and the shell bracelets on his wrists scraped against each other as his hands clasped together; that combined with the big-business tone of his voice made him appear not unlike an average money-grubbing millionaire.

"Fire is such a volatile object," he continued as he walked up to the chained form of the insectoid boy. "You see these manacles?" he asked the girl while rather harshly seizing the metal bonds. "It would take a very great burst of flame to melt these. And besides, even if you were able to manage such force, what makes you think that the mere skin beneath would fare any better than the far more durable metal?" He turned around, the spikes on his back very narrowly missing the imprisoned boy. "It would be far more effective to freeze the chains.Tthat way we would be able to directly target them and avoid hurting this fine young man." In demonstration, he held a hand out; the air began to chill and condense until mist culminated into a ball of ice in his open palm; he didn't even flinch from the sudden cold. "See? Easy and painless."

Rose grunted. "Go ahead then." She was calm, so didn't have a short temper, but new people like this almost made her explode. The Garchomp splice preferred to get to know people before they bossed her around like this. Except Ed, of course. She could tell he was a natural leader, and she respected and looked up to him.
"I'm Rose," She said to this new person, "if you want to address me with my real name. Not like I have a nickname or anything."
Rose thought, Would this boy still appreciate it? Would he rather have cold than heat? Then again, fire can hurt for longer than ice, and ice helps if you have fire, but not fire with ice.
