Open World's Balance

"Ok, so I'm not in a creepy forest with a creepy lady, I'm at school... Yeah, that's real logical..." Jake made sure the lady heard this part. He had been somewhat impressed by the flying act, something that doesn't happen very often. Instead of encouraging him, however, it made him a bit more edgy. Randomly growing wings and then lifting a girl into the air is a bit unnerving.

"Ok, ok, this is getting kind of weird. Who the heck are you?"

Jake continued walking, despite his doubts, but he wanted answers. He decided it would be better to go along with the lady anyway; from what he saw, he didn't want to get on her bad side.

Tina watched in surprise as the woman grew wings.
"Whoa.. okay, I believe in magic now. This is.. sorta creepy, though. Not that I'd want to leave now."

"You want to see magic, Emi Abbadon. Then you shall see magic." She heard the woman say, before the ground was yanked away rather rudely.

Emi yelped as she was lifted into the air, waving her arms a bit. This was really goddamn freaky! She wiggled a bit, trying to get down, when she was spoken to.

"There is more to the world than you will ever believe. Don't test me, my dear."

Emi looked up and her eyes widened in surprise. This lady had... Wings. What the hell? This was some seriously messed up shit right here, she could tell that. But she put on her best 'Bitch please' face and frowned.

"Put me down lady." She hissed.

Vai watched in amazement as the woman unfolded, or grew wings or something. She blinked, and stepped forward from behind everyone.

"I'll help," she announced, looking up at the kid who was floating in the air. "What else can you do?"

Lou listened to the woman’s replies to the other’s questions. Magic and protecting the bundle the woman held from whoever or whatever. It all seemed more similar to what the first girl had said; a fairytale. He didn’t believe in those things: magic, fairies, and witches. All of those things he never believed in it, until now. The female teen with the large purple hoodie now floated in front of and facing the woman, who had revealed her wings.

He observed a couple of the other’s reaction, before realizing his own mouth hung open and eyes widened at the sight.

“It’ll be a suicide mission. You said you needed our help to keep the thing your holding safe. Well then, how the hell are we supposed to do that when you can easily make that girl fly?” He said without evening knowing it, and when he did he hoped that nobody else had heard him.

The woman glances around at the group of young teens. She smiles a little, looking back at the girl floating before her. She lowers her back to the ground and lifts up her chin.

"You...remind me of my child...stubborn, quick to decide, and just a little bit snippy."

“It’ll be a suicide mission. You said you needed our help to keep the thing your holding safe. Well then, how the hell are we supposed to do that when you can easily make that girl fly?”

She looks toward the boy, her mouth spreading into a sly smile. She has been waiting for one of these children to bring this up. She steps away from Emi and holds out her hands to the teens before.

"You have a point. But I have an answer to that. You will all be given gifts that will aid myself you each other in this endeavour."

She looks back at Emi and smiles in a motherly way.

"You...will be the first."

She flicks her finger, drawing the girl close to her. She then places her hand on her forehead. She smiles and says a single word in a unknown language, a flash of light emitting from under her hand. She then pulls away and grins.

"There you go...you now have the power of ShapeShifting. Emi Abbadon."

She then walks calmly over to the young man that voiced how the mission was suiside. She places a hand on his forehead and repeats the single word once more, the light flashing once again. She pulls away and lifts his chin.

"Lou Gunner. Your gift is that of Cryrokenisis. You have the ability to freeze the water in the air around you in whatever way you wish. This will prove useful on our journey."

She then turns toward yet again another young boy and smiles a little at him. She bows her head in a polite manner.

"I am an angel of sorts. My duty is to protect this world and look over the virtue of 'Mercy'. I've been asked to deliver a...package to the Doorway of Darkness and Redemption. In order to do that. I needed help, so I had my..boss send dreams of the crisis to those of remarkable ability."

She then smiles a softly at the boy.

"You may call me Ming...it was once my name when I was alive. Now, come here, all of you...it is time for my to bestow upon your gifts."

Summer reared back. The woman had wings and was doing magic, giving "gifts" of sorts... she was pretty scared. But somehow... she felt trustable, where she had only known her 'family' to be that way.

She shyly stepped forward, her breathing getting heavy. It was clear that she was nervous, even frightened.

(short post is short ><)

"That was so cool," Barry said, having finally found his voice. He hoped he hadn't swallowed any flies for the minute he was gaping, and that whatever excuse the angel made would work, but forgot about that when she offered them all superpowers. Even him! He wanted one, for sure. He bounded toward her eagerly.

"You said you're dead, right? How did you die? Do we get wings too?"

"Shapeshifting...?" Emi mumbled to herself, staring at her hands. Cool.

She decided to try it out. She didn't know how, but... Maybe thinking about turning into whatever she was trying to turn into really hard would work? She squeezed her eyes shut and tried to imagine something - anything - to turn into.

Strangely, the first thing to come to mind was something long and thin, covered in a skin of shimmering diamond-shaped scales... A snake. She felt the transformation start at her toes, a crackling warmth that was spreading quickly. She opened her eyes and looked down at herself. There were sparks crackling around her as her body molecules rearranged themselves and altered their composition. Now she was a serpent from the waist down, and her clothes were in shreds. She panicked and stopped the transformation, and she ended up as a half-snake half-girl.

"Bloody hell..." She mumbled, staring down at herself.

"Whoa! We're getting magic powers?! Okay, this is awesome!!"
Tina practically cheered, clearly thrilled. This was so cool! Of course, they would probably all die quite soon.. suddenly, it didn't seem quite so great. Still, she stepped forward towards "Ming", curious as to what power she'd end up with. Flying? Super strength? Turning into a ham sandwich?!

"Magic... powers?"
Mystari flinched. She was giving the others powers... Mysti wanted to see what her power was.
"Okay, I'll help..."
Mysti reluctantly walked forward.

Ming smiles at the young black haired boy, placing a hand on his head to try to calm him down. She leans down to him and smiles, brushing some of his messy hair out of his face. Then then places her palm on his forehead, creating the flash of light once more.

"Barry Lindsay, you are given the gift of Strength. You now have the strength of multiple people's force in your hands. Use this wisely, my dear."

Then, she turn to the first girl that approached her and takes her hand gently in her own. She places her hand on her forehead and repeated the previous process, uttering a single word.

"Summer Winters. You are given the gift of Aura. With this power, much can be opened for you. You are to develop this growing power on your own. But one effect of this gift is the ability to see the aura's of others around her. I trust that you will use this for good purpose and not to spy on boys in shower rooms"

She chuckles softly at her own joke, turning away from the mostly likely blushing girl to face the third to walk over to her. She places a hand on her forehead and utters the word once more, light flashing under her palm.

"Tina Barstow. You have been given the gift of the Healing Touch. With your small hands, you have the power to heal your friends and allies with you heart and kindness. Use this gift to help you through our journey, my child."

No sooner had she given these powers to the three, another stepped forward and claimed to want to help. Ming smiles down at her and places her hand on the young girl's shoulder before placing her palm on her forehead. Once more she muttered the word and created the flash of light.

"Mystari Endris. You have been given the gift of Telekinises. With this, you have the ability to move objects with you sheer will and mind. Use this to aid you in this journey and be careful with it. In time it will grow stronger."

And indeed, Summer was blushing. The thought of doing that hadn't even crossed her mind, but now that it had, she had turned absolutely scarlet.

"Ah... don't think ah'd want to do that..." she mumbled. Then she shut her eyes momentarily and nearly jumped back in shock. Where she had thought that she wouldn't have been able to see anything with them closed, there were now incredibly blurry figures where the other people were standing. She couldn't quite discern a shade of color due to the hazy darkness the figures were shrouded in, making it difficult to see in the first place, but they appeared to be some sort of blue.

"Powers? Well.." Vai grinned. "That sounds cool..." She gave Ming an expectant look, before looking away and smiling.

((Short short is short >_>))

Tina grinned. Awesome! She wanted to try out her new powers immediately, but since it was healing, that would involve hurting someone first. Bad idea. Still, she was happy, if a bit freaked out. So, magic was now real. This was all real. And she had powers. They all did. This was unbelievable!
"Th-thank you.."

Barry might have cared more that his question wasn't answered if he hadn't been so excited about his new power. Strength! Super-strength! Just like all the coolest heroes in the movies and TV shows and books and comics! In his excitement, he didn't realise that his bouncing was taking him a few centimetres into the air.

"Thankyouthankyou," he remembered to say, before trying to run toward a tree and maybe test it out on a branch. He didn't quite manage, because the first over-excited step took him half a metre into the air and two metres away from where he'd planned to put his foot. This would probably have been less of a problem if he hadn't landed on a tree root and fell into the tree.

The flash of pain was gone as quickly as it came, and he sat up, slightly dazed. He felt his nose, which had been the first thing to hit the tree - it was a little sore but not bleeding or broken. He looked up at where he'd hit the tree, and sure enough, there was a small dent where his face had landed. He paused, confused - then realised that being super-strong meant that his nose was super-strong too, so it didn't get broken as easily.

"Coooool," he said, getting up slowly to make sure he didn't accidentally end up jumping again. He looked up at the sky, wondering how high he could go.

"Um feeling a little left out here?" Jake had been standing back, like usual watching all these events unfold he had been ignorant to the fact that all the others had stepped foward as if volunteering.
"Oh. Now I get it." He felt a little embarrassed, but he was more interested in what this lady was doing to these kids.
He walked forward, closer than he had gotten since he laid eyes on her.
"I'm ready."
He closed his eyes, a lot more nervous now than he had been in his life.

Lou blinked, bewilder to what just happened. He watched the lady, Ming, who was giving each of the others their own powers, and some of them began testing their powers out as if like children playing with a new bought toy. He was glad it had been given to him, instead of he himself going up to retrieve it. The black dressed teen was slightly amused by the girl who had been floating; Emi woman had called her, as she was now half snake and half human, and by the boy, Barry, who had just rammed face-first into a tree. Now, he guessed it wasn't going to be totally suicidal.

Lou noted that he too wanted to test out his new found ability. With his right hand out of his pocket and standing a slight distance from the others, the matted hair teen focused his thoughts on making a small ice ball. Slowly, he felt the temperature in his hand decreasing and observed the small ice crystals forming, shaping into a ball. Stopping the process when sphere reached 2 cm in diameter.

“Nice,” Lou spoke to himself just below a whisper and pop the frozen ball into his mouth.

Ming turns toward the two others that came forward, placing a hand on each of their foreheads. She spoke the single word, light enveloping them for a short time. She then looks at the both of them, lifting their chins gently.

"Vai Kisubo, you've been given the gift of Pyrokenisis. Fire now dances at the tips of your fingers, hopefully you will be wise when using this destructive power. I wish you luck in mastering this gift"

She then looks at the young boy and smiles softly down at him.

"Jacob Arlington. You are given the gift of Levitation. You are now able to defy the laws of gravity and move through the air as you wish. With practice, you will be able to go higher than one would believe. I wsh you luck as well"

Ming then releases their chins and turn back toward the trees, walking over to where she layed the bundle. She carefully lifts the bundle, whispering a soft word to it. She then looks at the young group behind her.

"Now is the time to leave. Those of you that did not come forward will have to ask for your gifts as we go. We must keep going before...well. You'll see for yourselves what is in store for us."

She then turns and walks toward the forest, a soft laugh escaping her painted lips.

"And to answer a earlier question. Yes, I was once alive...a long time ago. I was once a militay woman, trained to kill on the battle feilds...and no, that's not how I died. I died from being betrayed by my country's leader. And no, you do not get wings, for you are not dead. You are still very alive, children."

Emi finished staring down at her serpent body, and looked up at the woman. Frowning, she slithered though the grass, scaled belly sliding smoothly over the ground. This was... Strange. Her new snake-belly wasn't as sesitive as her feet were, so slipping over rocks and such didn't hurt at all...

"So how do I turn back? Just... imagine myself again?" She said loudly.
