I completely understand what you mean by making things worse by tweaking... This happens to me too. I would draw something, and some part of it will see off and I'll be all :/ and erase it and draw it again, but it'll seem more off and I'll be >:| and erase it and draw it again and it's worse than the second time and I realize that the first was the best and I'll be D:

Don't you just hate it when you can't draw exactly what you want? It's so annoying... Especially if you know that the only reason that it's not ending up as you'd hoped is your own lack of artistic ability. GAHHHHH

But hands are horrible to draw and they take forever if you want to draw them properly so THAT'S NORMAL and I take forever to draw hands too so I usually just go like "screw this" and draw them badly and pretend that they're exactly as I intended.

Art trades are fun except they're too much work hurr if only I can just make an image draw itself on paper the moment I think it up.... :|
