• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Abortion

Hmm, Valor, Altmer. Resorting to flaming me, are we?

Hmm...

Drifloon Rocks, that was kinda minimoddy. Anyway, I have a nugget of information about this forum, 'Floon. A vast majority of the well-established members and the good debaters at TCOD, are, on the left-right scale, well on the left. That means, if I were you, I wouldn't bother fighting for the conservative side. I can see that you're trying to create a meaningful debate, but you're outnumbered here, as the Debating Hall "professionals" are almost all left-wingers, from what I've seen.

Back on topic, yes to abortion, except in certain cases.

it sure is an astounding coincidence that the vast majority of intellectuals tend to be socially and scientifically progressive

almost like only an idiot would want to hold eir entire species back for personal comfort

(case in point the entire midwest)

the south has a few small holdouts like huntsville, al and other university cities

the midwest is just a thick coating of failure painted across the canvas that is our political landscape

And yet somehow South Dakota was unable to pass the anti-abortion bill, despite being perhaps one of the most conservative states.

Valor, Altmer, don't call em a pompous ass any more.

Aww. Can I at least flick his ears whenever he gets off his high horse?

i really think abortion is the stupidest thing in the world
why dont you just give birth and give the kid up for adoption

man it sure is easy to dictate what people ought to do with their bodies, isn't it

how's the weather up there in your ivory tower

You've obviously never been pregnant. The mother has to spend nine months with an ever growing parasite inside her, weighing her down, causing things like morning sickness throughout, and eventually ending with the mother having to push the thing out of her, usually leaving the mother scarred with stretch marks.
Barely ever hurts the mum, yah.

... What the hell?
No seriously, what the hell? It isn't a simple case of "adopt out", that woman has to carry around an ever growing parasite that may have been caused by accident or against her will for nine months, then go through the pain of child birth, only to give it away to an adoption home, when all of it could've been avoided by simply aborting a foetus that wasn't even aware of it's own damned existence?
What the hell, man?

The mother is the one who has to carry it around for nine months, and has to call for maternity leave in her job. It's the mother's career and life that suffers from child birth.
Gees, you repeat things a lot.

Ann Arbor qualifies as a holdout if those places do.

it is mocking you, chronamew

condoms do not always work. birth control pills are not able to be used by everyone. many people have shitty sex-ed.

I know. ;)

But abort pills/surgery is not exactly foolproof, either.

What's your point? Proving surskitty further correct by saying that contraception isn't 100%?

And I'd say abortion is more foolproof in the hands of professional, licensed doctors, rather than the 'specialists' in back alley abortions, or whatever the term is.

And it'd help if you'd read the thread, we've already had to carefully explain this to Drifloon Rocks.
