• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Attacks and Abilities Guide

Do double team clones give off shadows, and if they don't, could you command your Pokemon to look for a shadow to determine which is the real Pokemon?

Double team clones do not cast shadows, so yes, looking for them would be a way to determine what the correct target was.

But now Tuft making fifteen clones won't be nearly as impressive!

How does normalize work, exactly? Would the boosts from a moon stone/silk scarf/normal gem apply to every move, even if the move is not usually normal type?

It states that normalize makes every move have STAB. What if normalize was granted to a pokemon that wasn't normal type? Would it become psychic-ize/dragon-ize/whatever-ize, would the pokemon suddenly gain STAB from normal type moves, or what?

Clones not getting shadows: Double Team just got a lot more useless.

Can a combo be used to remove a substitute and Status an opponent (say, Whirlpool + Toxic, where Whirlpool traps the sub and prevent it from blocking attacks) ?

What happens if you use Counter/Mirror Coat/Metal Burst after your energy gets hit?

EDIT: Also can you fit health Drain Punch and energy Drain Punch into a single Drain Punch conditional slot?

If a pokemon is under the effects of some statuses and is Skill Swapped the ability Synchronize, does it immediately transfer its statuses to the opponent or does it only transfer any new statuses it receives? In this case, statuses refer only to ones that can be transferred by Synchronize.

Everything becomes easier all of a sudden. Would it take an action to do so?
No, you could say "Flamethrower on the one with no shadow."

Moon stone etc. boosts would apply to attacks made normal-typed by normalize. If a pokémon not normal-type was granted normalize, it would still make all of that pokémon's attack normal-typed, and they would not get STAB. It's only written that way because the only pokémon with normalize are normal-typed.

You could remove a substitute with whirlpool, then use toxic on the pokémon successfully. As a combo, though, no, that wouldn't work.

Nothing and no.

On this note, can you use draining moves to drain both energy and health (at half power each)?
No

Can a Pokemon with Suction Cups be lifted into the air with Telekinesis, Psychic, etc.?
No

Only if new statuses are laid.

Could a Suction Cups Octillery suction an opponent's face and restrict breathing?
Not significantly.

The description of Counter implies that it will reflect only attacks during the action, and only if the user is faster than the opponent. However, in the games, it reflects the last physical attack, whether it was this turn or a hundred turns before. What is the standard way of dealing with this situation?

In the games, I'm pretty sure Counter only reflects a physical attack made during the same turn that you use Counter.
