You don't have to go all out like I did; just mention their names if you want to. But I decided to include pictures and such. :D
my last.fm journal said:Male
10. Terrance Zdunich (Graverobber in REPO! The Genetic Opera)
And Amber Sweet is addicted to the knife...
9. Simon & Garfunkel
Not the most attractive guys ever, but I'll be damned if they can't sing.
8. Shagrath (Dimmu Borgir)
Not a huge Dimmu fan, but this guy can really sing.
7. Anders Jacobsson (Draconian)
Not much to say. Good voice; compliments Draconian well.
6. Ronny Thorsen (Trail of Tears)
Excellent vocalist. Does especially well on Tristania's World of Glass.
5. Østen Bergøy (Tristania)
Excellent vocalist; his strongest performance (in my opinion) is on The Ravens.
4. Morten Veland (ex-Tristania/Sirenia)
Overrated but I love him anyway.
3. Thomas Rainer (L'Âme Immortelle)
Compliments Sonja's voice beautifully. :) Guy has pipes.
2. Oliver Sa Tyr (Faun)
Isis says it all...
1. Roy Khan (Kamelot)
Incredible singer. I don't know if Kamelot does his voice justice or not, because apparently the man kicks ass when it comes to opera, too.
Female
10. Ailyn (Sirenia)
Beautiful and completely underrated! Ailyn deserves way more love.
Okay, okay... kidding...
10. Kari Rueslåtten
Not much to say here.
9. Ann Wilson (Heart)
This girl kicks ass! Nancy's good, too, and would probably take the 11th spot if there was one.
8. Helen Vogt (Flowing Tears)
I like her better than FT's original vocalist, but both are good. Helen's voice is energetic and powerful. Awesome stuff.
7. Brittany Bindrim (I:Scintilla)
A powerful, emotional, and polished vocalist in an industrial rock band is something I don't see a whole lot of. Brittany is fantastic.
6. Dominique Leroni Persi (Stolen Babies)
Powerful and raw. Can shift from melodic, soothing vocals to kick-ass screaming seamlessly. Her voice fits the atmosphere of SB's music perfectly.
5. Andrea Dätwyler (Lunatica)
Aww, I love Andrea. :D Not the most unique or powerful voice, but the way she adds to Lunatica's melodies is amazing. Divine, even. Emocean is a shining example of her awesomeness.
4. Syrah (Qntal)
Enchanting and haunting. Not much else to say.
3. Shirley Manson (Garbage/Angelfish)
Shirley's my hero. One of the most emotional voices in modern rock music.
2. Sonja Kraushofer (L'Âme Immortelle/Persephone)
See below.
1. Vibeke Stene (ex-Tristania)
See below.
The reason for picking my top two spots in female vocalists is quite simply because they both have angelic voices. Sonja and Vibeke display power, emotion, grace, and enchantment. Their voices are the epitome of beautiful - it really isn't hard to hear. If a song has one of their voices, it's never going to be a song I can dislike.
