I have never played a Final Fantasy game.

VI is the best of the I AM DARK FAUX-STEAMPUNK games; IX is the best of the I AM LIGHT-HEARTED NONSENSE games. :/
 
But it doesn't actually show any of the quality writing Final Fantasy is known for.

I'm sorry, but "I, GARLAND, SHALL KNOCK YOU ALL DOWN" is not even close to typical Final Fantasy quality.

Usually it's more like "I got a good feeling!" "This is the way!" "This guy are sick." or, for the other kind of FF quality, anything in FFIV DS or FFXII.

I think "LIGHT WARRIORS??" is > "knock you all down" but maybe that's just me.

this is why I love FFXII - it's like someone bought out the entire fantasy section of a Waterstone's, smeared it with cheddar and set fire to it.
 
IX is lovely though. I personally enjoyed the plot over the first two discs quite a lot, especially with Queen Brahne, who I absolutely loved. It didn't fail to have its funny moments either with points like the "foolproof love letter scheme". It's probably my favourite game of all time. :X

I mean quality as in pretentious and including more made-up words than entirely healthy. So that quote works pretty well as an example, except the voice acting there is hilariously over the top so it's awesome as well as ridiculous.

I'd advise against buying any used Final Fantasy GBA games. I've bought about six individual cartridges and all but one (FF4) has either refused to save at all or decided after a while it didn't feel like holding onto my save file any more.

Did you ... just speak Cockatrice?

Though I think FFXII's team was going for a shakespearean style script in the dub, and I liked the use of some words. However the example I posted is really one of the crazier examples. And anything Dr Cid said.

I liked how Fran just had the weirdest accent ever. I've heard it's supposed to be Icelandic, although I have no idea what that's supposed to sound like.
