-----

With one exception, none could see through the screen of smoke that hung around the previously clean, fresh air of the rainforest. Nevertheless, they could all hear each other just fine. And this was enough for the coughing trainers to issue commands for their Pokémon to follow this round.

Both battlers were short and sweet with their orders this time. Soon, the critters on both ends were stomping the ground, ready to perform three more moves.

Hitoku completely failed to form even an idea of where his target could possibly be. Nevertheless, he was sure his move would connect regardless of visibility. He got on all fours and began to gnarl. The move’s intimidating potential was fueled by the user’s actual anger at the opponent. The rising volume of the growling kept on creating the impression that, anytime soon, the orange lizard might start screaming and attacking recklessly.

Though the Growl attack worked, it had a drawback – a sound cue was just what Kinji needed to effortlessly spot his foe. After warily inching closer, the red-winged Pokémon had a clear vision of his target – as it was blessed with a bird of prey’s eyesight.

After ensuring he was far enough from the opponent to not get mauled as soon as the move connected, the Spearow began to attack. It flew up just above the ground, and put on a malicious stare, stretching his neck forward to form a menacing position.

But, no matter how effective the Leer attack was, it would fail to impact its target under these circumstances – the merciless veil of smoke cut off any eye contact between attacker and victim. Hitoku could not possibly watch Kinji’s guard lowering performance.

Approaching the flame-tailed lizard could have been a mistake, however, as it prepared its next move. It took a large inhale, and focused on his internal flame sac. Inside, a few leftovers of burnt combustible lied around. With some tensing from the sac’s muscles, the rubbish made its way to the Pokémon’s mouth, from where it was spat out as a bright, hot jet of embers.

In the end, however, the Charmander’s lack of ability to penetrate the smokescreen with his eyes came into play. The attack was a few centimeters off from its target. The Spearow, who had all along been studying his foe’s movements, watched the orange embers hit the ground next to him, amused.

As ordered, the brown-faced bird’s next move was to mirror what his opponent had just done. Not having an internal flame sac was a great limitation. The attacker inhaled, and started to focus whatever elemental powers his essence held into the attack. Simply using those powers to overheat some fat was enough to create the necessary material. Afterwards, the embers were shot.

Kinji’s exceptional vision made the attack easy to aim; however, even though it did hit, the target seemed nearly unfazed. Obviously, Fire-type Pokémon are used to heat. One thing was certain, though; the lizard was clearly aware he had been hit.

Having noticed the projectile attack when it was coming, Hitoku could easily determine roughly where his opponent was. He ran towards that direction, with an arm raised. The Spearow’s eyes widened with the scene; he took off from the ground and tried to rush for the skies above. Regardless, it couldn’t escape the vicious swing of the Charmander’s claw. The attack struck with such strength, it nearly caused the one on the receiving end to collapse. His will to escape further slashes, however, was stronger; he hastily flapped his wings, shooting for the sky until the large leaves of the rainforest were mostly not as high up as he was.

The dragon puppy kept on attacking thin air for a couple of seconds, until he realized his foe was gone.

Well, you may have tipped the scales in the direction of excessive description, but it's certainly not sparse anymore. There's no great problem with this section. And, this time, your health and energy looks just fine. Good reffing overall. Approved

Uhm, I don't mean to be rude, but it seems you still have me on the $6 per reffing for Advanced rank even though I've moved up to Elite rank. Am I missing something or was it just an error?

Imma have a go at being a novice ref, just to prove to myself I can't.

Arena Description:
2v2
One out at a time
DQ: Three days
Restrictions: No OHKO moves.
Damage Caps: None
Arena: Factory
Description: A large, open room filled with various tables, equipment, and belts that take their product from one place to the other. There's stairs leading up to offices and an adjoining medium sized room that's filled with plastic Ash figurines. The first room is filled with Poke Balls, as that is what is being created. Rarely workers will run through in the hopes of getting something they forgot from their work shift. This is an underground fighting area.

The factory door swings open, and the referee wanders into the workshop, examining all the equipment and half-made Pokéballs that lie on the tables and conveyor belts with mild interest. He waves awkwardly at some of the workers, wondering if this is really the most appropriate place to be battling Pokémon... but hey, he just comes here to watch and wave flags about. Not his idea. He wanders to the centre of the factory floor and waits for the trainers to arrive.

A few minutes later, the doors open again, and the trainers, Dr Scott and Brizer, walk through. They shake hands and walk over to the open space where the referee awaits them, and stand at opposite ends awaiting the command to send out. Dr Scott goes first, considering their options for a moment and finally sending out Pestilence, a female Toxicroak. Pestilence glances quickly around the arena, and appears to be spoiling for a fight. Brizer thinks about the opponent's choice for a moment before hurling a Pokéball to the floor- out of it comes a huge burst of red light, which quickly forms into the shape of a Snorlax. The Snorlax looks up for a moment and then lies down lazily on the factory floor, struggling reluctantly not to fall asleep. The trainers call out their command and the referee swings his flag down. Round one, begin!

Pestilence is first to act. She's raring to get started, hopping energetically around the arena, and rather disappointed by her lazy opponent. Maybe if she can show him up a bit, things will get interesting... she gains a burst of speed and zips back and forth around the arena, and when she comes to a rest, there are not one, but three Pestilences standing at the edge of the arena, shouting various taunts to their idle nemesis. Snorlax stirs reluctantly in response to his trainer's commands, wishing he were asleep, and slowly climbs to his feet. He begins to waddle semi-confidently towards Pestilence, which is comical to her at first, until Snorlax starts to taunt her, saying he can afford to be so lazy, fighting such a worthless opponent... he goes on, but Pestilence is too enraged to listen to any more, whipped into a frenzy by her opponent's nerve.

Determined to teach him a lesson, Pestilence brings up a disgusting mix of toxins into her mouth, forming it into a ball before hurling it towards Snorlax. Three blobs of gunge- one real, two cloned- rocket towards Snorlax and hit him directly in the stomach with a bang and a disgusting, loud squelch. Snorlax roars in a mixture of pain and disgust, and stands up to wipe the sludge off himself. He grimaces at the three Pestilences- she was going to get it now, whichever one she was. He leaps up as high as he can muster and brings all 1000+ pounds of himself crashing down onto the floor. The ground crumbles under his feet, sending cracks rushing away in all directions and shaking the factory, knocking equipment and Pokéballs everywhere. Pestilence screeches as the ground under her feet breaks apart, knocking her and her clones every which way. When the shaking subsides, the referee gets up from the fetal position to see dozens of cracks in the ground and Pestilence lying on the ground, bruised and beaten and without her clones.

Pestilence chatters furiously and springs to her feet. Her fists glow with a dark purple, vindictive energy and she rushes forward with a screech towards Snorlax, thrashing at him wildly. Snorlax growls in pain, but the aura doesn't leave much of a sting. Snorlax ignores this pain and begins to clear and focus his mind, until a strange glowing aura cloaks his head. Then, with a cry he springs forward with surprising speed to smash his head into Pestilence. However, the Toxicroak manages to escape just in time, and Snorlax headbutts thin air. Pestilence snickers, and Snorlax rolls onto his back again. I'll get her next time, he thinks.

Terrain notes
The factory floor is now marked with dozens of deep fissures, and Pokéballs and equipment have rolled all over the floor.

Final notes
- The number of clones was unspecified so I used the standard two.
- Snorlax's Earthquake destroyed Pestilence's clones on the second action.
- I was slightly uncertain how confusion is supposed to function in ASB, with regards to how the probability of attacking yourself etc., so I went with a 20% probability. If this is excessive/too little, what is the standard chance meant to be? Sorry about that ^^
- Snorlax's Zen Headbutt happened to miss on the third action.
- Dr Scott attacks first next round.

...Mike do good? >.<

I'll try novice mock. I desperately need moolah. :(

Round One

Pestilience / Dr. Scott VS Snorlax / Brizer
Toxicroak Snorlax

As the Pokémon prepare themselves for the start of the battle, and as the trainers call out their first commands, the bell rings loud and clear to signal the start. Pestilience and Snorlax make their way to the center of the field.

Pestilience starts by running around Snorlax multiple times, creating some clones here and there, trying to intimidate Snorlax. He starts to act arrogantly, almost as if there is no way he'll mess up and hit a clone. This seems to enrage all of the clones, annoying them to the brink of confusion.

While Snorlax is busy being pompous, Pestilience decides that it is the perfect time to launch a Sludge Bomb. She hurls the thick, gloppy mess at Snorlax, but it was so poorly put together that it nearly misses. Snorlax is forced to rub the purple goo from his eyes to start an Earthquake, looking slightly annoyed. Shockwaves run through the ground of the factory, violently forcing Pestilience and her clones off their feet. All the clones dissapear, and Pestilience is left by herself.

As Pestilience recovers, it charges with a Payback. Its arms begin to glow (or anti-glow?) a rather sinister color, but it is still confused and dizzy enough to trip while running. She hits Snorlax, but she does when she falls, and it wasn't the best contact she could have made. Snorlax, hardly intimidated by the attack, begins to build power in its head, having it radiate psychic pink energy. He slams into Pestilience with force enough to knock her down. Doubly effective, the move really took it from Pestilience.

The doors to an almost empty pokeball factory swing open as two trainers, dr. scott and brizer enter the undergroud chamber. Both trainers throw their pokeballs, revealing Pestilence the female Toxicroak from Dr. Scott's stall and Brizer's Snorlax.

Pestilence acts first, and starts duplicating herself, creating 5 clones that soround Snorlax and grin. Snorlax seems to be confused about so many Pestiliance's being around him, but decided to go his way. He starts acting arrogantly, annoying Pestiliance a little, but hardly having any effect.

All six Pestiliances shrug, but then decide it is a nice time to attack. They start loading up sludge and poison in their mouth, and then shoot it towards Snorlax. The sludge bomb lands 1 foot from Snorlax, releasing a terrible stench and slowly disappearing, much to Pestiliance's disappointment. She hisses in frustration- she wasted her energy for nothing. Snorlax slowly starts standing up on his feet, and shakes a little. Then, all of a sudden, he jumps and whacks his whole body on the floor, creating lots of cracks and hitting all of the Pestiliances, destroying the clones and revealing the real Pestiliance.

Pestiliance starts loading up dark power in her hands, as if she would wait for something.
Snorlax stands up and slowly walks towards Pestiliance, his head glowing blue, and then smacks his head against hers, making her fly backwards a few feet. She looks at Snorlax, and, at least in her eyes, notices he has turned into a monster, at least five times his normal size. She shakes in fear, and doesn't move in fear Snorlax might smash her with his gigantic body.

The round is over. Both pokemon go over to their trainers, ready to get their next orders and for the next ready.

End of round one!

-Snorlax attacked first in the last round because payback has a lowered priority.
-Snorlax' Zen headbutt hit poor Pestiliance aand made her flinch, meaning the poor frog didn't get to hit Snorlax a single time in this round.
-Since Pestiliance didn't attack in the last round, she didn't lose energy in that round.

-Dr. Scott attacks first next round.

ROUND 1

The two trainers, prepared for a battle, unleash their Pokemon. A sleepy Snorlax is zapped out of one ball, and a Toxicroak is zapped out of the other trainer's. The trainers whisper commands to their Pokemon as a worker scrambles past them, screaming something about how he's discovered the secret to the neurology of a Magikarp or whatever.

The referee, a newcomer in a yellow hoodie with an Ampharos head insignia on the breast, snaps his fingers and yells, "Round 1, start!"

ROUND 1

toxicroak
Pestilence (F), Dry Skin
Health: 100%

Mood: Trying to decipher the scientific jargon that is being whispered by the mechanics inspecting the nearby machines.
Double Team ~ Sludge Bomb ~ Payback

snorlax
Snorlax (M), Thick Fat
Health: 100%
Energy: 100%
Mood: Feeling lazy.
Swagger/Curse ~ Earthquake ~ Zen Headbutt

The two Pokemon begin to act out their owner's commands. Pestilence decides to summon some clones... but how many? She decides to pick 3, since it's such a lovely number. She runs around in a circle, creating 3 clones. (11% energy) Meanwhile, Snorlax decided to strut his stuff, attempting to piss off his foe in the process. “Hey, I don’t even need to attack you, loser! I could crush you with my bare hands, you little wuss!” He tried very hard not to go to sleep when he said that, but Pestilence was still pissed, regardless of how drowsy he was. (6% energy)

It decided to launch off a poisonous ball of liquid at its foe, using toxic glands in her body and spitting up some saliva to create a disgusting purple ball of goop. (12 damage, 4 energy) Snorlax, angered by the goop that was burning at its skin, jumped upwards and then fell belly down, creating an intense seismic shockwave. (17 damage, 5 energy) Toxicroak stumbled backwards, constantly hitting the steel floor. The earthquake knocked various Pokeballs over, before some of them opened to summon a couple Magikarps. The two Pokemon ignored the splashing Magikarp and got back to fighting.

Pestilence aimed for the foe, dark energy surrounding her fist... but she ended up hitting herself instead, knocking herself onto a Magikarp. How... embarrassing. (5% health, 4% energy) Snorlax wasted no time, clearing his mind of his anger and laziness, just focusing on his attack. It rolled out of the crater it made with Earthquake, and somehow managed to smack its head downwards onto the confused opponent. (16% damage, 5% energy)

The battlers paused, examining the situation. Pestilence brushed its wounds off clumsily, and Snorlax yawned.

Terrain Notes: A huge crater has been found in the arena, thanks to Snorlax’s earthquake. Magikarp are splashing about. Pokeballs and equipment are overturned. One of the conveyor belts has stopped working (1 more round before mechanic fixes it).

ROUND 1: Results

toxicroak
Pestilence (F), Dry Skin
Health: 62%
Energy: 81%
Mood: Unsure as to what’s going on, but is still looking for revenge.
Confused (moderate), Attack + 2

Mood: Smug and satisfied. Still sleepy, though.

Misc:
On action 3, Weavile hit itself.
Snorlax's attack created a large crater due to the nature of the factory floor.
Magikarp were summoned from the Pokeballs that fell out.

Does that work?
