(Signups) The Soul Guard

Black Yoshi

look at that PUNGENT KILLSTICK.

You or a member of your family was one day asked to offer up a small sample of DNA from each member in the home. If you didn’t send it in on your own, a government agent was sent to retrieve it personally. One way or another, you gave up some DNA.

That was how it began. At the time, it seemed an annoyance, or possibly an invasion of privacy. Then her majesty, Empress Tamara, began talking of demons who were parading through the nation unchecked. An order was sent out on these demons, that each and every one be killed. Nothing happened at first.

One day, you finally understood. The news was plastered with families killed in their sleep, quietly, and with deadly efficiency. The government made even not the slightest attempt to cover it up. This was a crusade on all things unholy, after all. The people accepted it and supported it, for the most part. Those who didn’t agree couldn’t speak out, for fear they’d be branded demons as well, and so they bowed their heads and obediently went about their business.

And then they came for you. By stealth or by force, you managed to escape them, and get to safety. If being alone miles away from any civilization can be called “safe.” You eventually found an encampment of people the government had branded as “terrorists.” The Soul Guard, led by a council of 12 men and women.

These 12 were part of a government funded experiment on adrenaline-soldiers, which unlocked their powers. There were 38 other subjects as well, but they all proved nothing more than ordinary humans, and are now just part of the crowds sitting quietly in church.

The council has called you, along with a number of others, to their pavilion in the encampment. They briefed you on your mission.

The Soul Guard numbers have just passed the 200-man mark. The Council has decided it is the perfect time for the first true counterstrike. A campaign against the crown. You are to be a part of this team, systematically aiding in what is essentially a hostile takeover of the government and the church.

You were chosen because the Council believed you have demonstrated your loyalty. You have shown your prowess in battle. It is time you put your skills into action.

---

The Short Version:
You have the power of your Soul's Guardian at your disposal. These Guardians will protect you, give you strength, and sometimes even powers beyond what humans had ever imagined. With these powers, you are to strike out on the Council’s command, to drag the government to its knees so it can be rebuilt.

The Long Version:
I would ask that you read up on the Guardians so you have a thorough understanding. There is also a specific map and a few other things, but mainly read up on Guardians. Everything can be found here.
And there's even a picture.

---

Rules:

-Grammar, dammit.
-Sues get their legs broken by rabid chipmunks and their heads devoured by angry garden gnomes. Seriously.
-Guardians are maddeningly powerful. You can dodge a bullet you see coming, but you can't be like Raditz and just catch them all, etc etc.
-Side plots are fun. They devolop your character and create relationships many times. This is a fairly flexible RP. Methinks you should say something to me first, though.
-If you're not sure how to respond to a post someone else (like me) made, just start doing something. Balls up and start a conversation of your own. Make friends.
-PG13 if you couldn't figure out by now that there would blood and some cursing and killing and gore and blood and violence and blood. Oh, and blood.
-Remember when you fill out your form, the Genocide started about a full year ago.
-I don't like enforcing, but I think I'm just getting to the point of frustration to where I don't care if you hate me for being a hardass.

FORM:

Name: Include a last name, please.
Gender: ... Just do it.
Age: No super oldies and nobody below 15. Young 'uns are used to deliver messages around the camp, so they're not going on murderous anti-gov campaigns.

Appearance: ALWAYS describe. Pictures are awesome references, but if I see a google image I'm going to kill a puppy. Include your specific changes under your Guardian's most common form of influence (What "Stage" they give most often)

Personality: Not super hugely important, could just be a sentence or two. May be mostly played out.

History: Could be a lifelong biography from the day they were born to present day. Bare minimum is that you need to talk about their experiences in the genocide, and how they reached the Soul Guard.

Guardian: Possibly the most important and the most fun part. Hope you read up on them. Include if your guardian has an alias it likes to be called, a tidbit of its personality, what its trial was, the "Stage" it gives you most often, any specific powers exclusive to you (Like illusion or some freaky regeneration). This will probably be two paragraphs, at least.

Other: Relationships, extra info, anything?

Name: Cedrick McBride
Gender: Male
Age: 19

Appearance: (Picture) Cedrick is a tall young man, about 6’1”, with plenty of muscles from his training in the last several months. He has jet-black hair and foggy grey eyes. He wears a green vest with the sleeves torn off, and a white sleeveless. He wears plain dark jeans and white sneakers with green designs on them.

When his Guardian comes into play, Cedrick’s eyes usually shift to an almost creepy blue shade with a bold, black outline on the iris. When he’s in need of a particularly large boost of power, green, blocky symbols will appear on his arms and neck, with softer, curvier lines below his eyes. His Guardian manifests as a giant, green, aura sea-snake with large fangs. The exact length and size varies as it shifts around throughout the world. As a weapon, it shrinks to a manageable size, coiling itself around Cedrick’s arm and capping off his hand like a glove. The tail end also wraps across his chest, around to his back.

Personality: Cedrick usually doesn’t like new people, but will often talk if he knows he needs to get used to someone. When he does talk, it’s usually blunt and sometimes downright mean, but he never means harm by it. To him, words aren’t going to fix or hurt anything. Rest is basically PO.

History: For most of his life, he was just an angsty kid that got in a lot of fights. He was smart enough to never fight at school, but he still ended up getting suspended quite often by his principal, who pretty much got rid of him for whatever excuse he could find.

When the Genocide got to Cedrick, he was cramming for a test the next day. He stopped when he heard the door upstairs open, and immediately shut off every light in the basement. Heavy boots stepped around above him, and he could hear muffled whispers between two men. He slowly crept up the stairs. By the time he reached the top, he couldn’t see either of them. There was the faint pew of a silenced shot. Cedrick saw one of them men, a gun in hand, step out of his little sister’s room. The man was in military uniform. The other began coming down from the stairs, probably having already taken care of their parents.

Cedrick had to move silently through his own house for another hour before one of them called on the radio that one target was missing. Cedrick found an opening, and bolted out of his front door. His running alerted them, and they gave chase, pursuing him through alleys and streets, eventually even getting police cars hunting for him. He wasn’t sure how he kept running so fast for so long, but he never stopped. When he found a hiding spot, he stayed still until morning, when he saw a news report claiming he had killed his whole family and then run.

After he got out of Blackwell with a stolen car, he went to where the reports of terrorists were in highest concentration. Once he got to the mountains, he was forced to walk on game trails until a small girl delivering a message found him. She was part of the Soul Guard, and brought him to the camp. Once he was there, he was identified as an Adept, explaining his energy a few nights ago. He was assigned a teacher, and trained with her for eight months, and has been doing work for the camp’s welfare in the last few weeks.

Guardian: His Guardian calls himself Theseus. Theseus is blunt, rude, and gruff. In his hall, he takes the form of an average-height and well-built man with blown back white hair and a scar from below his eye, over his lips, down to his chin. He wears a long black trench coat with no shirt, and simple green trousers with leather boots. He keeps two swords strapped to his back by a teal sash, and another on his waist by a leather belt. His eyes are a ghostly blue with a thick black outline on the iris.

He gives Cedrick great strength, but the largest portion of his power goes towards speed in short bursts, thus Cedrick most often uses the Excess Stage. As far as special abilities go, he has an interesting taste. He gives Cedrick the power to create duplicates of himself with his power evenly split between each body. So if he had five duplicates including the original, each would have one fifth of his power. When one perishes, its power is split between the remaining duplicates, so each would have one fourth of his power, and so on.

His trial for Cedrick was simple enough: complete the maze. The hall was converted into a giant maze with stone walls, and he gave Cedrick one of his swords. “I’ll be waiting at the center.” He said. He went to the center, and divided into one hundred bodies. Cedrick would have to finish the maze, prove his wit, and defeat a hundred steadily more powerful enemies to prove his strength. The trial took Cedrick three months to complete.

Other: My history (And form in general) was a little on the detailed side, so… Yeah. That’s basically it. You can generalize more if you like.

Also, Ulqi is reserved. This makes me happy.

Name: Shotoshu Storm
Gender: Male
Age: 20

Appearance: He has short blonde hair, topped with a comical wool cap that covers his bad bedhead. His eyes are a pale blue and he is about 6'2'' in height. He wears finger-less gloves that once belong to his father and pair of old beaten boots found in the back of his father's closet. Along with the boots and gloves, he also carries a old blue long coat with fur lining greyed over time. He holds these items close to his heart because they belonged to his father before his family was slaughtered. He has a plain blue shirt with a white muscle shirt under it, and baggy black pants with numerous pockets with zippers on some and stores items he picked up along the way.

Personality: ...Yoshi you know damn well how he acts. Mostly PO though for the sake of filling this space.

History: The youngest of a bunch of kids, he was named after his dead grandfather as a memory to him. His life was simple enough, surrounded by his many siblings and parents, and was happy and whole. In these times he believed nothing could ruin this happiness he held, until the day the 'They' came to eliminate them all. He was sleeping in his bed when his Father entered his room and wrapped him up in his blankets and hiding him under a pile of sheets and clothes. He told told Shotoshu to remain quiet and not leave until he came back for him. Scared of what his father was concerned with, he stayed in his hiding place as the wold around him disappeared in a swift action from 'Them'. He spent little over a day in the hiding place, waiting for his father to return to get him. When he never came, Shotoshu slipped out of his hiding place and looked through his now tattered home. As he walked down the hall, he stepped in a warm, sticky pool on the floor. Curious, he followed the pool and discovered that the source was from his older Sister's throat.

Bit by bit he found his family and gathered their bodies together, wiping tears from his eyes so he could see where he was going. Gathering them in the living room, he knelled down before them and cried for what seemed like hours. He cried until he feel asleep, curled up into himself covered in the blood of his family on his clothes. That night he had a dream of a red bird fluttering through the room around him before perching on the back of a throne and look down at him with five sets of eyes. The bird smirked and Shotoshu woke up to find himself still in the living room.

Searching his home, he found himself drawn to the old clothing of his father and gathered what he needed. He knew he couldn't stay there anymore, not when his family was destroyed and the ones that caused it still breathed. He left his home, setting it aflame so no one else may trespass on his family anymore. From then on he has travelled on his own, in search of some purpose and a means to get his revenge.

Guardian: Goes by the name "Krow", she often speaks to her new host about his Father and how she herself once appeared as a male in the old man's mind. She gives various boons to Shotoshu, jacking up his speed to a point where others around him appear standing still being one of the more obvious. She also has a more lingering effect over Shotoshu's body, always present but often goes unnoticed by himself and others. This said effect causes her host and others near him to find moments of clarity where there may be noise, and in the case of those suffering from a mental disorder, sanity.

Krow herself is a "Insanity Eater" and a "Life Drinker", feasting on the dark spots lingering in the minds of others as a means to keep up her duty of protecting her young charge. In times of dire need to sustain Shotoshu, she will take his remaining energy and appear in the physical world to commence a powerful attack that engulfs a multiple of people (enemy or at times allies if they get caught in the attack) and thus reduce them to energy-based forms. She then takes it in and use it as a means to keep him alive. This move however has a hard drawback of leaving him unconscious. As for the "Life Drinker" part, this aspect of herself only applies when she is aiding him in battle by draining the opponent's energy away each time they connect with a attack while coated in her red aura.

When simply aiding Shotoshu in battle, she appears in her aura-like form of a Crow. When like this, there are three forms she will use for battle.
-Archaic Stage: Encases Shotoshu in her red glow to up his abilities. His eyes would turn dark grey, hair changing to red and would have a almost mischievous sly smile to him.
- Weapon: She will possess whatever weapon he may hold, or simply coat his fists and feet and focus her powers to give them added effects. When Shotoshu attacks land, the receiver will feel their energy slowly drain with each connect with the red glow.
-Tartarus Stage: She will take on a more physical form and start to attack with her own talons and wings. When like this, Shotoshu is forced to sit and anchored to one spot as she does the battle for him. Like this, he is unable to defend himself, depending heavily on his Guardian as protection from attackers. As a precaution, Krow will coil her tail feather around him as a form of shield to weather most attacks.

Her trial for Shotoshu was a game of the mind. She sent him into a realm within his mind where he faced all his fears and confronted the distorted forms of his family and friends, battle grotesque images of the ones that slaughtered his kind and in the end having to battle with his own Father and the old form of Krow together to prove his mantle against his Old Man. Only once did he defeat his Father did Krow start allowing him access to the powers that once were only given to the Father before him.

The form she usually takes is that of the Adrenaline Stage as it is simpler and fits her needs quite perfectly when she wishes to test her young charge further.

Other: Shotoshu doesn't know how he gained his Father's guardian, only told by Krow that he will learn in time how and why she is now part of him, as well as to why Krow pushes him forward toward the end of this "Story". Also as it will become clear once the game starts, there is a connection between Edward and himself.

(Better?)

8D MOOOOOONY!

You seem to have the old form, there... Hm. Well, you're pretty much accepted, since I know you know what you're talking about here, but please edit so it fits the new format n' order n' such. And add a personality. Then you can be officially accepted rather than pretty much accepted. :D

This makes Yoshi happy.

Name: Edward Spurling
Gender: Male
Age: 40

Appearance: Edward is relatively short and stocky, with a powerful body like a mountain cat, with a sharp face and scruffy deep gold hair usually cut choppily and short. His eyes are a darker yellow, almost orange, and his left eye has a deep, ugly scar over it, running from forehead to cheekbone and about a half-inch wide at the thickest. He also bears a number of other scars over the rest of his body, the most notable running diagonal across his back, shoulderblade to hip, and impressively large. Another is a set of claw markings over his right shoulder, three deep, jagged marks obviously scored into his flesh by something with large claws.

He favours simple and easy-to wear clothing and thick boots, often in black or red, and will usually don a red turtleneck when it's cold, as well as fingerless gloves. He is also trained in and can occasionally be seen carrying all manner of blades, and basic handguns, though he prefers to use his own body to fight.

Personality: Hmm. PO me please. :D

History: Born to a young mother and outsdoorsman father, and the first of two boys, Edward lived most of his life in the wilds, on a small farm with his parents. It was a quiet life, but not entirely uneventful - Edward's Guardian manifested when he was very young, the first and strongest in many years in his bloodline. His father taught him about the family line - they take the term 'bloodline' quite literally in the Spurling family it seems. He trained hard for many years, eventually mastering and befriending his guardian.

He left his parent's farm and disappeared for a good many years after, reappearing at the farm shortly after the DNA testing began. By then, his parents were quite old, and he helped them out alongside his younger brother... Until the government assassins came for them. Edward was unable to stop the deaths of his parents, but he fought back with all the power he and his Guardian held, before fleeing into the wilderness...

Guardian: Edward's Guardian is a powerful monster, manifesting in her full and unrestricted Tartarus Stage most often, and is a rather odd specimen at that. She can appear in two forms most often - in one, her body is slender and graceful, with a swanlike neck and spindly limbs tipped in four-toed paws, and the other is snakelike and graceful. A few things are the same in both forms - her head is narrow and wedge-shaped, with a crown of slender spines jutting from the back. Her eyes are golden and bear two pupils and irises that move independently in each eye. But, that isn't what is odd about her - she is made entirely from sticky, thick red blood, dripping constantly and recoalescing as she moves, and is able to spontaneously collapse into a vast pool of crimson ichor and reform.

When not in her final state, she can form a dripping and coalesing mass of blood and sharpened blood-blades over his right arm, or hiding inside him, which changes the whites of his eyes black. She is also capable of manifesting masses of whirling blades from the iron of her blood body in her full stage, utilizing them in combat.

Edward has many names for her, but she is most often just called Dragon. She is also known as Tiamat, or the Beast of Blood.

Other: :D

Okay, so I just posted that Colours was accepted, then was like, "Holy-hot-tamale-shizzy, Batman! Yoshi didn't edit the first post, what if people think I'm being all 'hostile takeover' on other people's rps" and so I deleted to wait until he did, but then was like, "Screw it, he'll edit pretty soon anyways."

So basically Yoshi made me co-dm because I was so "inquisitive" over the guardians. He said that made Yoshi happy and offered. So whoop-dee-doo.

I wanna do a form now! :3c Soon. Very soon.

Geez, Kuchiki, didn't know you were that eager to start your job. O_O

I also didn't know I needed to edit that in so quickly or you would apparently have a panic attack. And I am sorry.

Also Colours, I'm guessing he doesn't enjoy being called short? Next thing you know, we'll have Sheila here, to. That would actually be pretty awesome.

OH MAH GAWD, a form!

Name: Allison Pollard
Gender: Chicky
Age: 21

Appearance: Allison hasn’t grown since the seventh grade, and stands around 5’5”. She parts her golden blonde hair to her right, and jokingly refers to it as “luscious.” She has light, crystal blue eyes that sit behind a pair of glasses. She generally wears a white baseball tee with purple shoulders and sleeves, with a red hoodie tied around her waist. She also wears a thatched belt and a pair of simple jeans. A ring sits on her finger, one that her mother gave her during her last week spent with them.

Personality: She is usually fairly light-hearted, with many odd little quirks about her. However, she is easily bored, and often will ask questions to rid herself of this boredom, making many assume she’s just plain ditsy. Rest is PO, please. :D

History: She was the middle child in a group of three sisters, one several years older than her, one almost eight years younger. She had little money to go to college, and was living in a one-room shack with a three-hour commute to get to class every day when the samples were collected. Her roommates ranted on and on about how the government was going to use it monitor everyone and take away their natural born rights, and this and that. She told them to shut up so she could go to sleep.

She had been visiting her parents the week they came, and she went back to the little shack to find their dead bodies already a few days old. As she was leaving to find a hotel to stay for a night or two, she decided she wouldn’t ever feel safe again, so she struck out on her own for a few weeks, until eventually she caught word that the supposed terrorists could help her. She sought out the Soul Guard, and has been with them for five months.

Guardian: Allison’s Guardian is, in its true form, a yellow Praying Mantis. She prefers to be called the name “Gilga,” and while inside her own den, will take the form of a woman in an elegant yellow dress with honey hair, red-orange eyes with slitted pupils and irises, and extraordinarily sharp canine teeth. She acts very smugly, and keeps many secrets from her host as a sort of game, and teases her over the death of her friends.

Gilga’s powers usually offer vast increases to Ally’s agility and dexterity, giving her almost perfect control of every single muscle in her body. When in Excess, her eyes match her guardian’s, the whites turning a rusty red and the pupils and irises shifting to a single slit. She gains only yellow crescent moons on either side of her face and on the backs of her hands in the Archaic Stage, and in the Gladius stage, she gains up to three sets of yellow insect-like aura-limbs, each extending about ten feet total and sprouting from her back. She has yet to learn how to enter the Tartarus Stage, or fully control the Excess Stage.

Other: She is single. Just going to throw that one out there. ;D

Name: Jacen Ralvarn

Gender: Male.

Age: 17

Appearance: (no don't kill the innocent puppy XD)
Anyway, Jacen is the average teenager. He has medium-cut brown hair and wears dark clothing. He wears black pants, a white teeshirt, and a black jacket. He carries a blade across his back in a black sheath that he uses often in battle.

Personality: Jacen often jokes around a lot, but not all the time. He knows when to get serious and will be fierce if need be. He is always loyal to his comrads in battle and will protect anybody he feels needs his protection.

History: Jacen was born as an orphan. He learned how to take care of himself. A swordsmaster raised him up and taught him the ways of the sword. At only 15, Jacen was an expert blademaster. That was when the genocide occurred. His master and father was killed in the genocide. Grief-stricken, Jacen decided to use the sword of his master to fend off those commiting the genocide. He learned about his Guardian from one vetran of the war and called upon it for the first time. That was the only time he ever reached Tarturus Stage and slaughtered many enemies with the sword.

Guardian: The guardian's name is Palara and he resides within Jacen. He gives Jacen supernatural agility during battle and in return Jacen gives up some of his energy. Palara often also gives Jacen advice. Only once though, Palara had reached Tarturus Stage and that was at the time of Jacen's master's death. He often reaches close to that and may give Jacen the ability to throw fireballs from his hand.

Palara also takes an appearance of a cloaked man with burning red eyes behind a hood. He talks with a cold, deathlike voice. He is also very serious and is strongly bonded with Jacen. When Jacen is near death, Palara would take a physical appearance and fight along with Jacen in Tarturus Stage, though that only occured once so far.

Other: None

Name: Vance Halford
Gender: Male
Age: 24

Appearance:
Vance, often called Pink by his close friends, is a bit of a pretty boy. As his nickname would suggest his most outstanding feature is his hair, which is coloured with a mellow pink, reaches his shoulders and generally looking extremely well-kept. He has strikingly feminine facial features and bright blue eyes. he mostly wears simple and often brightly coloured clothing and is currently wearing a cyan t-shirt t-shirt, grey sweatpants and a long red scarf.

Personality:
PO, but I'll let you know in advance that he is a rather cheerful fellow, despite all that's happened to him recently.

History:
As his parents died in an accident, Vance was orphaned at a young age. However he was determined to get somewhere in life, not spending his days as someone rootless and insignificant. So right from the very start he almost flaunted with his unending cheeriness, and it got him friends and connections. At age 19, he was so well-connected he could get into even the fanciest parties despite being a nobody living in nothing but a small flat at the time. He floated through all echelons of society thanks to his unbelievable charisma and his brain to use it.

When the Genocide started, Vance was sleeping at a friend's place, something that may very well have saved his life. Eventually learning of the killing spree that had been going on, Vance decided not to risk it and left the city as soon as possible. Gathering what information he could find, he set off for the Soul Guard, hoping to end what he saw as absolute madness.

Guardian:
Vance's guardian goes by the name of Asmodeus, it's true form being that of a wisteria peacock. In his den, which is a brightly lit and almost excessively decorated in a very flamboyant fashion room, he takes the form of a Caucasian male with waist-length white hair wearing a highly stereotypic "pimp" outfit. He has white irises, akin to that of a pearl. Asmodeus is rude, lazy, conceited and perverted, but in the end he does mean well. His trial for Vance was actually for him to discover his identity, as Asmodeus was too lazy to think of anything himself. In addition he is too lazy to use anything but Gladius Stage in combat, which manifests on Vance as a pair of large wisteria-coloured wings on his back. While he can't fly with them, they are actually as tough as steel and extremely sharp.

Other: Not done yet, will keep working on this when I have the time.

I hate to say this, but... cancel my reserve. D: A lot of stuff has come up, I have some big tests and assignments and currently a complete lack of anything resembling inspiration. If my life clears up a little, I'll definitely apply again.

...._. Sorry.

Aww, Stormy! D: Fine...

Windyragon 'served.

You know what, I'm thinkin' that with five people we're pretty much set. One more person finishes, and we'll start. Hooray for me and stuff. We'll start with all of us already in front of the council, having recieved our summons. First post will have the council dismissing us, and providing us with transportation. Start thinking about how that'll work out for you, if you need the extra time.

So this time my character will already be with you guys or would it also be okay for Tosh to show up like he did last time, Yoshi?
