The Best Video Game Endings

Thorne

It's feeding time
'nuff said, write the best endings there is.

In my opinion? MOTHER 3. OH GOD THE TEARS WON'T STOP! I cried for more then 20 minutes, even at the credit roll, I cried after I had gone away from the computer to play New Super Mario Brothers in a desperate try to cheer up.

I think the ending to The World Ends With You is pretty well done and wraps everything up nicely.

Man, The King and the Sun is a great ending. Okay, not the best ending ever, but it is still pretty good for a Kirby game. So is the Revenge of Meta Knight ending, which I don't feel like finding.

Unfourtunately, I can't really seem to think of my favorite ending, possibly because I don't play enough RPGs.

@superyoshi888: What's so great about those? For instance, the Revenge of Meta Knight is pretty much 'whoops there goes the Halberd OH LOOK A SUNSET'. That is, unless you're not talking about the cinematic.

PMD2's ending certainly made me well up a bit at the credits. Of course, since I already knew (somewhat) what was going to happen, I didn't nearly as much. Admittedly, I cried more when
Grovyle left
.

Fk you, I was gonna say that one. >.<

The ending to The World Ends With You was genius, just like the game. God, I never saw that shit coming. It was so... great. One of my favorite games.

Okami's ending was pretty well done, even though Waka should of died. It was pretty big on it's theme.

OMFG, Tales of Phantasia for the fuckin win. kthnxbai

i quite liked xenosaga 3's ending, though i would've preferred three more xenosaga games overall. space channel 5 part 2's ending was really trippy in a good way.

So hard to choose...

I think I'm going to have to say Exit Fate, simply because it ties everything together so nicely. It's such a heartbreaking ending, at least in my opinion, but it's also a happy ending... if that makes sense. And the last scene really, really makes you feel like you've accomplished something.

Runners-up are Last Scenario (
"No... I wouldn't really care if you died. But other people would, and I owe it to them."
) and Out of Order (play it, the ending is absolutely brilliant xD).

Super Paper Mario, I suppose. The "two lovers sacrificing their lives to prevent the destruction of all worlds" has probably been done, or at least something akin to it, but I think it rounds out the plot very well.

I like the Drawn to Life ending, despite the 'two lovers separating' ending is done to death in most video games. It's the ending song which sounds...familiar for some reason.

The MOTHER 3 ending is sad, but I didn't cry! I came close to tears though :P

Final Fantasy X, I think... it was pretty original and wasn't like other FF endings where everyone stays alive and is all happy and everything wins. But then I think X's plot was pretty damn good, as well...

The only thing I would have preferred would be for Yuna to say "Thank you" like she did in the Japanese version, rather than "I love you" which kinda sucked. I think "Thank you" was a much better line and was deeper and more heartfelt than a plain, obvious, cliché "I love you". The whole thing about Yuna falling on the floor after running through Tidus, and then GETTING UP - fit much better with "Thank you". I'll stop rambling now. X3

Oh my god, yes. I loved the ending to that game. Dhaos being considered the hero and Cless's party as villians? Also how Martel ended up forgiving him anyway and sending the Mana Seed to his comet? Man, oh man.

You want me to say something original? How about Final Fantasy VI, huh?

Jak X: Combat Racing ending is quite good. It came as quite a when... (Spoiler alert!) Mizo revealed that Rayne along with the deceased Krew had tricked Jak and the gang into helping them gain control of Kras cities biggest criminal organisation. And yay, Jak and Keira finally kissed! xD

Shadow Of the Colossus
SPOILERS!

After defeating you r final colossus, you return to the temple. Only to be told that the whole thing was actually a crime, and that you have just slain 16 innocent creatures, making you possessed by the dead. Black blood then splashes out of your body (like the colossi) and you collapse to the floor dead.

So. much like Crisis Core, you play a game for ages, just to die at the end...wonderful. =D

I didn't really like FFX's ending. I thought it was too short for some reason. Call me crazy. Though I had to refrain my self from laughing, since I kept picturing Yuna continuing to run off of the airship. That would have been sooo funny.
