• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Closed The Labyrinth

"My... Kind?" Eric said, confused. "Erm... Are you talking about humans?" He then sighed. What the hell was going on here!?

"Well, how about this. You are pretty small, so what if I protect you, and in return, you help me figure out where I am and get out of here?"

Meanwhile, Otorio was wandering across a huge trap. The large room was actually a puzzle, with certain stones liable to set off traps.

(Yes, I took this opportunity to show how puzzles are set up)

Puzzle: Trap Room

Required to complete: +1 Speed
Recommended: +2 Mind, +2 Luck, +2 Speed

Description: In the large room in the southeast corner of the third floor, there are a series of traps that can be set off. The best way to get across is to pay attention to the floor to avoid traps. However, +2 mind is required, as a certain level of intelligence is needed to realize that the room is not completely empty, allowing one to pay attention BEFORE setting off anything. Luck, of course helps. As does the ability to run for your life when you set off the trap

Otorio did not have luck on his side, as he set off a trap inadvertently. The stereotypical arrows-fire-from-walls trap is set off.

[Don't worry, anything luck-based is randomized]

[EDIT: This may be somewhat important so people know how to do puzzles in the first place:

People CAN team up in a puzzle, in which case you take the highest stat from each one

With required, well, that is what is needed to solve the puzzle or avoid the traps well enough to, well, live. Recommended is pretty much a way of saying, "The closer to these requirements you are, the easier the puzzle will be"

Also, unless otherwise stated, a puzzle requires only one post to complete

Only puzzles with a penalty (as in, traps) involve the luck stat]

"Is this a trick or a joke?" Kari asked warily, "Are you just saying that so you can gain my trust? And eat me or kill me with that monsterous foot?"

Ketarin, bored of sitting around moping in his room, went out into the hallway to look for something reasonably edible to eat.

Eric frowned.

"No, of course not! Why would I want to trick you?" Eric asked the faerie before getting up.

"Besides, I am very lost and want out of here as soon as possible."

Halfway down the hallway, there is a Puzzle blocking the way. A huge, intricate door requiring skillful thought to open.

Puzzle: The Puzzle Door

Required: +2 Mind
Recommended: +3 Mind

Description: A door covered with intricate designs, it has a marble at the top. At the spot where a doorknob would be is a hole for the marble to enter. At the bottom is another hole, presumably to send the marble back to the top if one fails. The track the marble follows is not open enough to let one pluck the marble out. The challenge is to navigate the marble through the puzzles to the appropriate hole. There are three parts to the puzzle where you can slide the marble, using levers, either up, down, left, or right. In order to solve it, one must post, in order, three directions. You cannot start with Up. The door closes behind the person who solves it when they go through, although the puzzle is the same on both sides. As such, after completing it once, one does not need to redo the puzzle to go through, instead just posting along the lines that they solved the puzzle again. For every point of mind above recommended, you can make one extra error

"We aren't Giant. You are just Tiny," Eric replied, with a smile. He started walking down the hallway, unaware of what might come up.

[Oh, of course, any traps I stumble into I can't do myself, as I could cheat :O]

Gairran was also awake, cowering a bit from the human to avoid being seen. She was startled and let out a yelp when arrows shot out of the walls.

(Directions:

Up, Right, Up)

[Nope. Reread the instructions. You can't start with Up]

As much as Giza may try, the marble would not budge. Due to it already being at the top of the door, it could not go up any higher. It would drop down if it put left, right, or straight down, allowing an up movement then to a higher track.

Otorio was startled by the arrows shooting out of the walls. However, having high Speed naturally as a werewolf, he was able to narrowly dodge them (if that's okay). He turned back when he heard a yelp. "Who's there?" he asked.

(Oh, I seemed to have forgotten that part)

Giza looked at the puzzle-door. Oh, goodie, she thought, what a marvelous puzzle to solve! She studied it for a second, then decided to move the marble right, then down, and left.

(It is ok, Cryptica. After all, you meet the speed requirement AND recommendation. You don't need high mind or luck to avoid an arrow (alright, so luck helps))

Otorio had narrowly dodged the arrow. Lucky for him, due to his species, he had more than enough speed to avoid that arrow.

----------

The Marble, upon being moved right, fell onto a new track and plummeted to the hole in the bottom. After making some odd sounds, the door let the marble go back to the top of it. Nope, that isn't it (Hey, on the plus side, you know the mistake was with the first movement)

----------

(EDIT: GCKT! Flareth, the ninja-poster)

Eric smiled and continued to walk.

"So, tell me about yourself. It must be fun to be a faerie."

Giza was surprised when the marble returned to the top, but got over it quickly, sure that she would get it right next time. So she moved it to the left, planning to move it right again if she succeeded, then down.

"I almost got squashed by humans..." Kari brooded, "Well, I'm Kari. And you are?"

(I am not a ninja poster...I am...-funky little transformation- THE NINJA PIKACHU! xDDD old account name)

Otorio made a noise that sounded like a growl. "What are you, an ugly minotaur?" He laughed. "So... if you expect to get out of this place then too bad. Because I have no idea." He walked across the floor, but more toward the middle so that he wouldn't be instantly killed if there were more arrows. Seeing what look liked a loose rock in the floor, he made a tiny hop over it and continued forward. He had a bad feeling about that rock.

"Are you calling me ugly?" Gairran growled. She lowered her head and charged, spiked horns aiming right at the human's back.
