Open The Sundering of the World

Battle, why does this guy care about battling us, I don't trust him, shadow thought to himself, sometimes entering others minds could have good uses.
"why should I care if you care about me," shadow said back to the man,"and I don't care if you know who I am."

Fresh air, it is, stated a gleeful Drake when he arrived at the pavement crafting the busy streets of Slateport City. The Dragonite was not able to enjoy this; his trainer returned him to his PokeBall due to his large size. The other two, still being out, followed their trainer's footsteps without a word. Well, that was the case until Aju decided to state an inquiry.

Well, where to? the Manectric asked, curious about their plans now that they had actually arrived at their destination. Don't tell me you're playing this by ear? Aju was quickly becoming irritated.

Hunter sighed deeply, responding, "Well, I am, so we might as well jsut head towards a Pokemon Center. Truthfully, that's the only sensible action that I can process in my brain at the moment, so just go along with it unless one of you has a better idea." Hunter smirked, knowing he wasn't going to receive an answer. But, his conscience was wrong, and D.J. began his opposing argument.

Well, considering we haven't been here for over a year, I suggest we ask a couple innocents here for a quick update and such. I know. there will be people at the Center, too, but ambling around the range of the city seems more logical. To moi, at least, the Umbreon argued while swiping at the ground with his paw. Besides, look, he pointed towards Hunter's proposed destination. The Houndoom spying on them previously was there, and the group it was sulking around with seemed as suspicious as him.

"Fine, you've made your point," mumbled an annoyed Hunter while walking away from where his conscience was directing him. "WE'll go and interrogate less suspicious people."

You bet you will, exclaimed Drake form his ball, which at the time seemed like a small squeak. I could really use some time without any suspicious characters.Though no one could see him, Drake was carefully eyeing other citizens as the strange companions wandered throughout the city.

Aju complained, Why couldn't they make those things soundproof?

Well that's a warm welcome, shadow said to the umbreon through thought, I'm sorry I was watching you last night it's just you guys are a family something that I have lost.

Another human approached from behind the building. Something about this one seemed off. Kathris already had trouble trusting humans, though they and the creatures they lived with appeared to be the only races native to this world, but this one seemed especially shady. Then again, without any knowledge of this planet, the others weren't especially more trustworthy.

"Indeed, they are known as the Burning Legion.", Kathris told the young woman, "My people have fought them three times in the past ten thousand years."

A stout green creature then raised a question in a low voice.

Kathris responded to it, "I was told during my imprisonment that the town guards, the police as you say in this dialect, are arranging some sort of force to strike back at the Legion, which has apparently razed two of your continents. The head of the guard is to arrange a meeting of some sort tomorrow. I know little more."

Arthron hissed at the Houndoom's words: "Do not speak to Master Tobias in that tone, you insolent filthy-"

Tobias raised an arm in warning. "Arthron, be quiet. This Houndoom has all the respect of a small child. That is no reason at all to reduce yourself to his level. Crast would agree that he is an unworthy foe."

He then turned to the night elf, "So the leaders are gathering to face the Legion? That's an encouraging thought. Tell me, what specific location are you meeting in?"

This will make quite an excellent report for the leaders. With luck, Olmak will return soon...

Runa paused for a moment, not knowing what to say. "A small shred?" she echoed, then replied more strongly. "It's more than that. Since you allowed Haru to capture you, you're part of her team. And as a Mightyena, because of that, I'm obliged to be loyal." Her paws shifted somewhat nervously. After finishing, she looked around, hoping she hadn't raised her voice. Thankfully, she didn't seem to have done so, and her ears pricked as she listened for the rest of the conversation. Runa began to growl as Tobias challenged Shadow, and though the Houndoom showed sense, he could be getting himself into a dangerous situation.

Haru replied firmly to Tobias's question. "It's just strange that so many people are gathering. I thought there weren't going to be this many here." She tried to keep her green eyes confident, and they strayed to the Fraxure as it spoke. Of course, Haru had no idea what it was saying, so she turned to her Mightyena for a reaction.

Runa appeared to be getting angered with how the other Pokémon were talking, and she particularly was glaring at the Volcarona. However, she did remove her eyes from it after a few seconds of irritated growling, and continued to glance between the humans and human-like creature who were talking. Occasionally she would hold her eyes on Shadow for a longer moment, apparently out of worry that he would get himself into trouble.

Shadow places his paw on runa's shoulder and whispered,"calm yourself, we dint know have of these people and if you show that you get angry easily then they will exploit that if they can."

As she felt that Shadow was calming down as well, Runa's bristling mane began to lie flat, and her bared fangs were revealed again. She still looked at the newcomers with a suspicious eye -- from the sound of what they had done so far, they weren't on her side -- but she tried not to judge them yet. Instead, she asked, "Tomorrow? Is that too long to wait?" Though she was slightly worried, her body language was still calm, and she tilted her head slightly as she asked the question.

"I believe they said...", Kathris replied to Tobias, trailing a bit in the middle of her sentence, "I can't quite recall right now, unfortunately."

There was something wrong about that human named Tobias. Was it the taint of fel energy? It was hard to sense, but he did leak some. There was no telling how strong he might be, so Kathris did not press the issue.

"Is it truly strange that so many would gather?", Kathris asked of the human woman, "You are, after all, fighting for your lives. Failure most likely would end in the eradication of all life on this world. I imagine this would be your first encounter with a force intent on your destruction?"

"I'm going down to the beach for some air," shadow whispered to Runa and turned around and headed toward the beach.

A Flygon would suddenly be able to be seen flying overhead from the city and beaches of Slateport. She had finally finished traveling the nearly day-hour long journey from just north of Mauville, down south. As she began to descend upon a relatively small gathering, it could be seen that there was a human resting on her back. She landed gently and began to approach the Pokemon Center, while looking around the city. "This is pathetic..." She spoke to herself. "What do the humans hope to accomplish like this?" Upon entering the building, she saw a couple police officers, as well as as a strage, indigo-hued humanoid creature standing with them. There were a number of other assorted humans and Pokemon nearby. Letting the human on her back off, Kali approached one of the police officers, speaking to him in a very precise, somewhat formal sounding english. "I pray that you don't expect to win a war like this... What is your plan?"

Ah, great, he's tracking our steps, the Umbreon muttered when seeing the Houndoom depart from its odd group. Let's just head west to the ports and interrogate there, since strays are probably 'shooed' here. D.J. was still being monotonous and calm as ever, in spite that his impatience was quickly growing.

It doesn't matter. He'll eventually become bored, or at least be frightened off, Aju countered to her companion's speech. I mean look at us. We might as well have Drake out here to cause our little group to stand out even more. She snickered at that last comment. It was true, after all, that they seemed out of place. Drake, cursing under his breath while in his PokeBall, was not so amused.

---

Hunter exhaled a deep breath of air before plopping down onto a couch in the Pokemon Center. "Nothing. At all. No valuable information that we had not been aware of. None. What's wrong with these people?" the boy complained, obviously being irritated with some of the citizens' ignorance. "I knew they were... you know, but still. You'd think at least one person would know something." Lane stared into the ceiling, waiting for a sarcastic response. But, the counter was anything but sarcastic.

Seriously? Are you serious? Drake rhetorically questioned. If you didn't notice, we passed what seemed to be the most awkward and odd group we, or at least I, had ever imagined! And you guys thought we were strange... The Dragonite was obviously annoyed and disappointed with his companions' obliviousness. I mean, have any of you seen those creatures speak that casually with other people just like us? He really tried to emphasize those last three words, hoping that his seemingly bored friends would get a clue from his continuous talking. I'll bet you that they have more information than you can handle. You guys can't handle the truth.

Aju waited for a bit before speaking once more, trying to assure herself that Drake had finished his gibberish. ... Shut up, Drake. We'll go out there, then, and see just what information they have. The Manectric truly did not want to say that Drake had, for once, a good point and the upper hand in the dispute.

Practically dragging the other two out, Aju made her way out of the door of the Center. The other two stooping behind her, she made her way up to the amazingly awkward group. Hey... Aju here. Her fake smile didn't last a second.

Jericoh strolled into the administration building and up to the front desk.

"Hi," he said to the person at the counter "Where can I sign up?"

Shadow stopped at the edge of the woods just inside the shadows that he was near invisible.
Now I just watch, and if I'm right then the new group will realize I am here soon, shadow said watching the group in front of the pokemon center.

Axe took a couple more steps back as the anger prickled between the Pokémon, but it quickly settled down. Still, she wasn't all that inclined to move back toward the gathering of humans, humanoids and Pokémon. Mainly it was the humans and humanoids by which she was unsettled, but right now she needed a bit of space. She wasn't too used to having big gatherings, as for most of her life she had lived solitary in Dark Cave, away from humans. She had only heard of the things they had done until she ventured out to come here, and she hadn't seen much of them since then. It wasn't a good idea to be judgmental, but she couldn't help but feel a natural detesting towards these creatures. She didn't tell anyone, though, and she doubted anyone in this crowd could read minds.

She observed the relatively obscure conversation for the next few seconds, and she did take part. "If we do fail, though," she said to the weird purple humanoid (the concept of talking to such an alien thing slightly disturbed her, but she didn't show it -- after all, if there are so many kinds of Pokémon, why not a machoke-looking thing with hair?) "We'll be dead, and we won't witness the world end or whatever unless they decide to keep us alive specifically for that purpose. Eh, it's a bit of a weird concept, this end-of-the-world thing." The Fraxure brought her arms in a little more, as if contemplating something. "We don't really have much of a chance against the giant orc-things unless we have a strategy, and even then there's a big chance someone's gonna die."

The last thought made her smile a bit, mischievously.

Tobias looked over at the Fraxure that just spoke up. What he was about to say went against his better judgment, but he felt that this, at least needed to be known to all, everyone from that foolish Houndoom to the young woman and her Mightyena.

"If you think about it, this battle is one that tests the world's ability to change - their ability to stand against the great threats. In the past, we've overcome such threats and come out stronger. But did we truly learn from such battles? I say that we did not; had we learned from those battles, we would be better prepared for threats the likes of these.

"Should we win this battle, maybe we will finally learn to be ready for what the future holds for this world, and what battles will come from such a future."

Though I doubt anyone of these fools would agree. That is why they are going to be swept away in this force. They chose the wrong side - they're now suffering for it. Typical of them - typical of these humans.

Arthron gave him a warning look before he could say anymore. Tobias understood why - any more, and he might as well be outright saying that he was corrupted.

And they wouldn't like that. No, they wouldn't like that at all.

"not necessarily because I was able to take one down," shadow said stepping back toward the group but still staying far away,"it was a grave cost, but if we work together we can take them down."

Axe closed her mouth, running Tobias's statements over in her mind. As she knew, she loved arguing, even to the point of frustrating others, but apparently Tobias wasn't inclined to hurt anybody, or he would have done so by now.

"It's not every day you see giant rampaging golems destroying the earth," she replied, sitting down (as she didn't plan to move too far anytime soon). "Couldn't this world go at least a Pokémon's lifetime without something trying to destroy it or take it over? It's quite frustrating when you know that those arrogant humans are doing everything in their power to make sure that they rule everything and that nothing stands in their way." Towards the end of the sentence, she had started growling, but she stopped as soon as she reached the silence point. "The orc-things don't really have much of a motive, do they? They're probably just brainless piles of flesh working for some birdbrained master who has no idea what he's doing." At this she had calmed down a little - it was good to get her thoughts out her mouth, but if she talked too much it often made her mouth unbearably dry. It didn't help that she didn't drink quite enough water in the first place.

Tobias was ready for the Fraxure's remark: "If there is no turmoil, the world will become complacent. If the world becomes complacent, they will be utterly destroyed once the next threat eventually emerges. Conflicts such as these keep us strong - keep all of us strong. That way, our battles with this enemy will be all the more worthwhile. Either way, I would rather be ready for whatever awaits us as opposed to being completely routed by our enemy, wouldn't you agree?"

He grinned under the brim of the hat. Nothing he'd said in that statement was a lie at all - as long as those that the Legion was fighting stayed strong, Tobias would be able to take part in outstanding battles against this enemy - an enemy that had stayed strong against the threats thrown at it previously by those with high ambitions.

It was at this moment that he heard the familiar sound of Olmak. He looked up, and sure enough, there was the Golurk, flying toward Tobias and Arthron. Tobias' grin widened. Olmak's return meant that he would be perfectly ready for whatever conflict erupted next.
